Hi,
The playlists created in walkman are independent of the music player. I don't know the exact location of the files but I can tell you that the playlists are a part of the data of the Media Storage app of the android system.
Good luck

Add music from iTunes and organize into playlists

can somebody explain a way to do this? take out the m3u file from an itunes playlist so that my music on my galaxy nexus is organized..
Have you checked into DoubleTwist? I think that does what you're looking for.
Can you explain the problem a bit more? I just copy over my music and the Music app sorts it by artist, album, etc for me. (Actually it pulls it all from Google Music... uploaded all my music as soon as Google Music came out.)
DoubleTwist will pull in your playlists from iTunes and sync them with your phone. You'll need to use the DoubleTwist player on your phone too, though.
iSyncr with the Wi-Fi add on works great
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I use wifi tunes sync server from the marketplace, works great
Google Music supports playlists from iTunes and WMP.

I recommend this also. I was using iOs for years and had setup smart playlists based on ratings. iSyncr and its widget work well to keep that going.

Ditto on Google Music. The music manager automatically uploads your music (even adjusted music - album covers, renames, etc) as well as any playlists you make in itunes. That's the way I do it. Requires no effort at all.

this requires data if streaming and i dont think the music quality would be the same when uploading to google music and then downloading it back to the phone
theres no way of just taking a playlist from itunes and uploading it to your phone then taking the m3u file and just adding it to the same folder?
no, iTunes sync is DRM encrypted so you cant do it directly from what I understand.
You can try finding a PC based app but iSyncr is cheap and works great. It has a PC only app.
You could import your library to Winamp or other player and directly sync also.
Maybe you can fool iTunes into thinking your phone is a data disc and import music that way but that sounds like a lot of work.

I run into this... 90% of my library transferred to Google Music okay, the other 10% (especially my Lonely Island albums) is DRM protected and short of burning them to a CD I have yet to find something that will remove it on them. Doubletwist doesn't even see them (I put them all into a playlist by themselves)... More reasons to hate Apple (but applaud their ability to monopolize and make money)...
Needless to say, I haven't bought anything from iTunes since summer so I can avoid this...

As some others in this thread have already stated, the iSyncr app available in the Android Market can do what you want. It allows you to see all the playlists you currently have in iTunes and select which ones you want to import onto your Android-based phone. After you've selected which playlists you want it will sync them (and the relevant song files) to your phone. After that your music app of choice on your phone should be able to see the playlists.
I use an iMac at home with iTunes and have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and use the above scenario all the time to sync my playlists from iTunes to my GNex.
I use Google Music but if you want to sync your iTunes library or playlists, double twist is definitely the way to go. And it DOES play fine with the default Music app, it just mirrors your iTunes music folder to your phones music folder, which the stock Music app scans.

Sync with Google Music over Wifi, no data required when playing offline music.
Google Music doesn't do any transcoding if your music is in MP3 format. If it's in other formats it will do transcoding.
The Android Music player supports .m3u playlists, so you can export your playlists from iTunes in .m3u format, then copy the playlist to your phone in the same folder hierarchy, and the media scanner will then read the playlist.
Nevermind i found a way, isyncr wasnt working out for me on my mac (playlists werent showing up, music was getting deleted.. etc..) so i got this app from the mac app store called Playlist Export and it works great. Heres the link http://www.ericdaugherty.com/apps/playlistexport/

Wait, you have to pay to export your playlists from iTunes? It doesn't have that function built-in?

^ I think the app is free, so not AS bad. But this whole MTP thing is rough for Mac owners. I've been trying for a while to figure out a free way to get my girlfriend's playlists from her macbook to her GNexus.
I'm going to give that app a shot later today, but if anyone has any other good ideas (other than the wifi add-ons for iSyncr and DoubleTwist), let me know. I'd appreciate it.
actually, itunes supports m3u now.. just click file > library > export playlist, then choose m3u and add that too your music folder on phone with the music in it !!!!!

^ I was pretty happy to discover that earlier, and exported all the .m3u playlists to her phone via dropbox. I had all of the mp3 songs loaded for each playlist that I was going to transfer over, but when I opened the .m3u files, it gives me an error message saying "Error playing the requested track." I'm guessing the issue is that the .m3u file isn't in the same folder as the rest of the music files. If I used a file manager app and moved the .m3u into the music file, would that help?
Also, I have tried using doubletwist with airsync, which works for transferring songs, but doesn't give me playlists on her phone. I've tried dragging and dropping the playlists onto her phone, and I've tried letting doubletwist sync them completely.
I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point. If anyone has worked out any sort of solution with a Mac, please let me know!
Cheers
i use doubletwist, syncs everything

Album Cover not applied

I have a folder with music and place inside album cover and trying to call it like Folder.jpg or Albumart.jpg or cover.jpg but no one help me. Default Play Music application still use default cover for this folder.
Is there any way to apply my own album cover without embeded album cover to each mp3 file with programs like mp3tag?
PS: ICS 4.0.4
There is an app in the Market called Album Art Grabber. Try it out.

comment from Play store:
It says it works with ICS but not with Google music. I guess that means you also need a third party player, but the app says nothing about this. This worked great with older Android phones, but if you are running OVA and using the native music app, forget it.

Because I have some mixed folders that not real album so I want to set up for it my album cover and this is would be wrong if I set up for each file wrong album cover image
PS: problem still not resolved ^(
Use iTag. The album art has to be embedded into the song.
OR
Download cover art downloader, edit album art, wipe Google play music app data. It rescans your library and adds the art.

I use Mp3Tag and on Android I use Album art grabber which shows the album cover picture only when I'm using custom music apps e.g. CM9 music player ...

SocialReject and manumanfred can you trying read information about my problem? I ask how to set up album cover image without embeded image to each mp3 file. iTag like mp3tag applied it to mp3 file and album art grabber didn't work with default ICS player Play Music.

Will the stock ICS music player read all of these? I thought it wanted albumart.jpg, but I might have had an issue with not clearing the app data.

[Guide] Remove WALKMAN Music Player Album Art Thumbnails or Caches

Sometimes ur album arts get messed up, but the thumbnail caches stay there no matter what u do.
This is because the album art caches stay inside ur sdcard.
In WALKMAN, if u Download Music Info and checked "Replace Existing Information", ur album arts will also get changed and most of the time changed to the wrong album art. And it just stays there forever no matter how u edit ur mp3's ID Tag.
To remove the album art thumbnail caches,
For Android Music Player
1. Force Close music player
2. Go to /sdcard/Android/data/com.android.providers.media/
3. Delete albumthumbs folder or any other folders
For WALKMAN Music Player
1. Force Close WALKMAN player
2. Go to /sdcard/Android/data/com.sonyericsson.music/files/
3. Delete cache folder
4. Go to /sdcard/Android/data/com.sony.walkman.mediaplayers.wm/files/ (if exist)
5. Delete extprops folder

That's why I stopped using Walkman player and jumped to Poweramp.
Walkman always messes up the tags and albums(oh, by the way, Poweramp sound better to me )

A lot of people prefer poweramp, but not me either
The UI just not as awesome as WALKMAN.
No go for me...
I foolishly let this run... and some of my tracks have been "re-tagged" - not within their own file tags, though. I tried all the guidance here and in the other thread and I haven't managed to back this out yet. Any further advice?

what do you mean by re-tagged?
It should revert to the album art in the song's tag

I refer not to the album art but the track title and artist name.
A case in point: I have a copy of "Mandy" by The Spinners - Gracenote has caused this to appear as "Chapter 14at" by Tamora Pierce.
If I copy the file over to my computer and do id3v2 -l on it, it still shows the right details:
id3v1 tag info for 09.Mandy.mp3:
Title : Mandy Artist: The Spinners
Album : An Evening with ... Year: 1969, Genre: Unknown (255)
Comment: Track: 9
09.Mandy.mp3: No ID3v2 tag
There have been other similar changes.
So, where is Walkman picking up the phony details from, and how do I get rid of the phony details?

[Q] album art problem in the stock music player

hi,
strange problem in my new g3.
i use ID3 tags to embed my album art in all of my mp3 files.
they arranged in one folder.
when i use power-amp it shows correctly every song with it's own album art BUT strangely the G3 stock music player is not showing the album art at all or (in some folders) show a particular album art of one file located in that folder (its not even the first one ??)
i also checked the files with the stock file manager app that also shows the mismatched album art just like in the stock music player.
any idea ?
Up
Do the songs have album title information? If not, android will replace the missing album title with the directory name these songs are located in.
Further more, some players use album arts from android database (use this to change album arts, songs need album title) or from the file itself (no album title needed)

Sadly its general problem of Android and most of the devices have same disturbing issue. It was on my Gi5510 and still on my G3. Poweramp shows correct if any artwork attached. For now there is no solution seems like but will research this. This issue is really disappointing, 'cause i like to use stock music player rather than 3rd party apps but its not good when other songs artworks attached to every track. If anyone will found a solution please reply this. I will subscribe this thread. +1 for OP.

I used mp3 tag to embed album art for my music and had no problem with it showing up in my music. The only issue was it wouldn't show up if the image was larger than 4mb, but I doubt that's the case for you guys lol. Have you guys used mp3 tag? If not then use it, if you have then could you elaborate a bit more, because I think it may be fixable.
