Weak signal for Korean version F180L - LG Optimus G (International)

Hello,
I have bought my Korean version of LG Optimus G but I'm living in the Europe and have problems with signal. It is very unstable - in the same place it can be full signal but after a moment it goes down to only one blue line or even without it! That is very frustating because I had normal signal on my previous phone. Can the problem be the fact that I have cut my Mini-SIM card to Micro-SIM? (http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57484847-285/how-to-cut-your-own-micro-sim-card/) Maybe I have to install another baseband or ROM to my F180L?
Is there any sollution or suggestion?
Thanks!

I think its a hardware related, fortunately in my case both the hardware and baseband is compatible in my country.

Please help!

I don't think so. I think that it may be a baseband error. Also the Wi-Fi signal is unstable.

Is anyone else having signal issues? Possible baseband update?

I recently purchased a samsung captivate glide and I have noticed very spotty coverage and dropped cell connections. Whenever I am indoors I cannot get a signal. The cell reception is very sensitive and constantly shows no connection. I was unsure if anyone else was having this problem?
I found another thread that had a loose sim card issue and attempted the fix but this did not work. I've also tried my sim in another phone in which i had no problem with cell reception. I've relashed the ROM and Kernal multiple times, rooted, unrooted, nothing seems to fix my reception issue... I was not sure i there was a baseband update or I just have faulty hardware. I'm eager to get this phone working at full capacity. How can I get it working properly?
Pertinent Info:
Android Version 2.3.5
Basband Version I927UCKI3
Kernal Version 2.6.36.3

Sounds like status quo for AT&T
On a serious note; I am not having any such issues here in southern Louisiana where I usually don't get anything but Extended; rarely ever see 3G.
Been looking around for more information. I'm going to try and get a new sim and see what happens. Looks like i'm stuck for the time being :/

Try pulling the battery cover and see if your SIM card is loose? I've advised for a couple different folks having signal issues the same thing, nobody else seems to have the same problem I did - using a smartphone SIM, it looked like the metal cage for the SIM card was a millimeter too large in width and height, I used some strong clear tape to hold the SIM in place and havent had any issues since...
HTH!

//Edit - I need to read the _ENTIRE_ post before replying - sorry, I'm fresh out of ideas if the loose SIM card wasn't the problem :\ -tidE\\

[Q] Weak Signal Issues GT-I9250 GSMH

I have been using the GNex for a couple days and it has been a nightmare.
I have no signal whatsoever in my own house. I used to have Galaxy S II and used it at the same place with no issues. I have tried every single radio available for the GNex and they all seem to fail!
I have also installed custom roms, CM9, AOKP, now using Jelly Bean and i love it but the signal..
Does anyone knows if this has a fix?? Or is just dead faulty phone??
Plz help!

So, gsm model, you on radio LA2? Does it have good network reception elsewhere, or is it just at your home that signal is too weak?
Like the poster before me said, have you tried another sim card? Have you tried placing your current sim card in another phone?
You use stock kernel right? Have you tried a custom kernel with smart reflex activated?

The phone actually gets weak signal and lost of connection everywhere. But since at my house i don't have a GREAT! signal it just vanishes.
The phone was Stock when i bought it and had the Issue it came with XXLA2 Radio and 4.0.4 Lastest ICS Build.
After i noticed the issue i rooted and tried all the radios available and roms with no luck. all leave me with low signal.
I sued to have a GS2 and had 2 to 3 bars at home so its a huge difference .
Now iam running JB 4.1.1 with latest Radio XXLF1 and same issue,
Something i have noticed is that the phone has Very high dBm... compared to other phones from same Provider.
FYI i live in Puerto Rico and the provider is Claro.

Same problem here with baseband XXLA2 and build IMM76I.
I know there were signal issues with updates from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 (see here but, if I have understood well, the build IMM76I should have solved that problems.
So the question is: my phone has come out with 4.0.4, XXLA2 and build IMM76I (so already with the fix for signal problems) what could be the problem? Hardware??

Thats what I am afraid off.. I had also XXLA2 and build IMM76I when I bought it, after that i started to install Diff Roms and radios to solve the issue but no luck so far.
I have not seen any issues like this over the internet.. usually with the XXLA2 and build IMM76I everyone is happy so iam afraid this
is just a bad batch of phones.
Witch version do you have and where it has been build. Mine is GT-I9250GSMH from Korea
I'm planning to test some other radio and also intall the JB OTA. I will keep you updated.
Crap! Just updated to 4.1.1 via OTA and the problem is still there! I'm experiencing 10 - 20db less in signal strength than the one I have with a gs2.The baseband now is XXLF1. So I have to assume that is an hw defect and send it to repair? Is anyone experiencing this annoying issue?

I had this happen to a white unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus i purchased. I ended up just sending it in for a replacement. \o/
Seems to be hardware related.
I wonder If there is a way to fix the phone.. If i just knew what piece of hardware is and if it is worth it... I bought it 2nd Hand and dont think its under warranty. Does some one knows where i can send it for repairs to samsung??

I'm more or less in your same situation. Before sending it to repair I would like to know the signal strength from the ones that are not experiencing this kind of problems (just to compare with mine and for being sure that is my radio with some weird issue).
So can anybody please tell me, in average, which is the signal strength experienced especially in closed spaces (e.g. at home, at office, etc.). I' have a range between -100db and -115db.
PS with your invoice I think that you can ship it directly to a samsung center for repair.
I just sent an email to Samsung support to see what they will do. My phone never goes above -90 and I've had drops in the city where I've never had problems before. My BB sitting right beside my GNex says -77 and the gnex says -95, iphone says like -84... I'm going to see about getting a replacement or something from Samsung.
I have the same Problem ...it´s definately the 4.0.4 ROM ... I sent my GNEX to the support 2 weeks ago and I got it back with an 4.0.1. ROM. But I did the update again . After that I had the signal problem again... and the hotline said to me please don´t update!
I don´t think that it is the Baseband or the Hardware... it must be the ROm or the Kernel.
I don't see anything strange.... You are experiencing exactly my same problems.... I haven't seen any sw solution to this yet... Probably I'm going to send my phone to repair.

Network signal issue

Hi all
I have an issue with the Desire. Thing is that I got no network signal. I have been wondering for long time if the IMEI was blacklisted, but I found out that the IMEI is ok, no barred at all. And yesterday, messing a bit with the phone radios etc... I managed to get signal! But It was while i was using my spanish sim (VODAFONE carrier). When I inserted my UK sim car (woth 02) I couldn't manage to make it work.
I am a bit noob about that radio thing and ril... but when i use those RIL with the G, my phone is like it got signal but cannot connect to the provider... (emergency calls only...) and when i use the others is like i cannot get any signal at all...
I also tried to clean inside the phone... not sure if is a hardware or a software problem...
any ideas?
thanks!!!

Not sure if you actually followed the previous poster's suggestion in the end (i.e. Googled it).
Quick google search on my end found O2 uses 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 2100MHz
Vodafone España uses 900MHz and 2100MHz, not sure if 1800MHz also.
Also not sure what you mean that you can't receive calls when its in stanby. Does this mean if the phone is active, you can receive calls?
If you have rooted the phone at all, revert it to stock and see if that helps.
Otherwise it may be that your phone doesn't have the 1800MHz band compatability (maybe due to where you bought it from etc).
I would go back to your carriers for help.

Anyway, won't bother you anymore.

I posted over 12 hours after your last post so I didn't know if you had already googled the bands in the end, in which case posting the bands again would just be repeating information you knew already.

Samsung S4 3G issue

Hi guys
I’m new here and I need your help.
I have Samsung S4 International bought on amazon in US, no simlock.
I use this phone in Ireland in Europe.
Everything was ok until a few months ago when I lost 3g connection. Science then my phone is working in 2g only mode (gprs/edge speed)
Phone was running on stock rom android 4.4.2, I thought it is a software issue so I rooted phone and installed CyanogenMod. Unfortunately it did not help 
Phone still synchronise with 2g network instead of 3g even in capital city next to BTS.
I was wondering is 3g module broken and what could be a reason of that? Do you have any idea how could I fix it, what would be a cost of doing it and is it even worth it.
Except that, phone is working ok. GPS with finding a fix is a little bit slow but this is not a big issue.
Thanks in advance

Baseband issue

Hello. I have an unlocked i9195 on CM13 official. I currently live in the north of England, and I use the network called giffgaff (O2). I would like to know if any baseband would do or there are specific ones for these circumstances, like os version, location, network. I have bad signal most of the time. LTE does not work 98% of times, WCDMA around 50% and GSM works almost always. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for your attention.
i am also on Giffgaff in the midlands. i9195LTE
running TWRP 3.0.3.0 , AOKP official rom 20170202 , remix N v0.6 kernel.
baseband I9195XXUCPI1.tar.MD5 [Vodaphone] latest for this phone ( i believe). from sammobile/firmware ( saw thread here XDA about updating Baseband)

I have the latest BTU version of the baseband installed it's from around 2015 been working fine here.
Its probably a coverage issue I recommended trying other carriers to find out which suits your needs best.
I myself am using unlimited data plan on Three, works wonders.

Any should work, though generally it's recommended you keep your ROM and baseband to a similar release date, especially if you are having issues. Are you still on the original baseband?
You should be getting good converge on O2 or are you in a remote hilly area or near some other source of interference?
Else it could be hardware eg damaged component or poor grounding of aerial or pcb to phone ground plane. (cleaning contacts and/or tightening screws may help)

No I am not on the original baseband. I9195XXUCPE1 currently. Regarding the coverage, I checked on their website and the area its pretty well covered for 4G reception, nonetheless I believe there is probably something wrong with the phone itself, I will probably just give up on this phone and spare myself some days of calamity.
Anyways thanks for your reply.

yes, sounds likely that it is hardware. A quick test you could do is pop the back cover off and connect a small wire to the test connector (at bottom level with the speaker) bypassing the actual antenna, if your signal strength improves then it is proof it is your antenna circuit where the problem is or the contacts.
You can also test by pressing down where the "touch" connectors are., see vid, sometimes it improves reception showing it's a bad connection with contacts.
This is often easily fixed by removing the inner cover & cleaning the contacts or applying a little more pressure to them with a little piece of plastic between them and the cover.
You can see from this video that the antenna are simply a "touch" connection to the main assembly.
about 2mins into the vid
should be a cheap fix at a repair shop if you don't fancy trying it yourself, if this is what it is.
