Dirty Unicorns (DU) is a custom ROM originally based off AOKP, but now based from OmniROM. DU brings you a great mix of stability and customization. The idea to start a ROM like this was purely out of boredom, but later turned into a form of an addiction, a good one. We began to have fun while still doing things the right way. By doing so, we received high praise from not only our users but by fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. This ROM will always be free of charge without any strings attached or any of it's developers luring you into donating or any form of "pay to flash".
"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....

This is a team effort by all Team codefireX members listed below, as well as many other developers and users in the android community. The kernel is the CM10.1 kernel built from source using cfX-Toolchain, however as of writing this thread, most all custom kernels in this forum should work.
The codefireX team:
synergy(e) - lead dev
Mustaavalkosta - lead dev
Pnoire - bug tester and french translator
Rdlgrmpf - contributor
BananaGranola - contributor and maguro tester
Unlike with some other JellyBean roms, I believe that all users should know exactly what is being built in/for the ROM. That is why all the repos I use and maintain are available for all to see and contribute to. The codefireX source links are above the download link. Please do not ask me to include any prebuilt or proprietary applications in this ROM; I will refuse, or ignore you entirely. Using non-vendor proprietary or closed source applications/ROMs is and always will be a security concern I would rather not expose users to.
Click HERE for a full cfX settings feature flowchart by BananaGranola (thank you!)
NOT a re-named CM build
Based on AOSP master (not release) with regular AOSP master merges
Open Source as all AOSP ROMs deserve to be
Easily switch between a custom and "vanilla" experience in the settings app "on/off switch"
LOTS of customization options including quick settings
Built with a custom linaro based gcc4.7.3 toolchain, strict aliasing, -O3 completely (including thumb_cflags), and other Linaro optimizations such as OOM/LMK changes. JUST TRY TO FIND A FASTER SOURCE BUILT JELLYBEAN ROM!
Lots more but I'm boring myself already

this look so promising, i'll give a try
awesome work dude.
I have been using an SR2 variant for half a day now. It runs beautifully; fast and smooth, yet incredibly customizable. (In the interest of full disclosure, though, I'm biased; I bugged synergye about creating one for maguro after using his Desire HD one for months). I have used both Franco's kernel and Lean kernel with it without problems.
I'll release a bug fix for the navbar settings FC when I get home. It only works if tabletUI is enabled currently.

I want to try this rom ... i had a good feedback by my friend. :fingers-crossed:
Hi dev, just to report, beside the Navigation bar FC. The Gallery also FC after take a shot with camera.
Is there Led Customization options on this ROM?
why does it say in download that it's 4.2?? is it 4.2 or 4.2.1?

I can confirm that I have both of these issues. I didn't notice the camera one at first because I use Camera Zoom FX. Anyways, great to see this ROM for the GNex. I've been using it on the N7 and it has none of the 4.2 lag.
Hope the fc's can be ironed out. Then gonna try again. Looks so good mate!!!
grtz from the crazy basterd from holland. and i love maguro roms.!!.
It is a lightning fast rom, Cyanogen Kernel fluid is very good and quite fast but despite these virtues find very disordered control options of the rom and fcs are too important and obvious, hopefully the developer solves the problems. Thanks for the contribution to the community of this rom AOSP lightning.

Hi.
I can vouch for the flashable zip. It works great.
I do have a small problem, let's see if anyone can reproduce it: long pressing on the home button shows recent apps and not the navring, as it should according to the navbar settings.
Best regards.

Why is this ROM "taking CyanogenMod to the next level?
CyanogenMod does not want to include many customizations like they did in cm7
But why not? We want to customize our phones!
This ROM adds more options and cherries to CyanogenMod, cherry picked from the CM gerrit, Google gerrit, AOKP gerrit, SGT7, TeamEOS, TeamBAKED, Slim ROM, root - box and ParanoidAndroid
Basically this is one big mixture of all the great ROMs out here!
Stock but still highly customizable the way we like it
Instructions:
Download all the needed files (ROM, Gapps)
Boot into recovery
Flash the ROM.zip
Flash Gapps
Boot without flashing a custom kernel (after you've setup everything you can safely install a custom kernel)

My advise is to always wipe when you come from a different rom
And only 'dirty flash' if you update to a newer version of the same rom
But you could always try a dirty flash
And only wipe when the ROM 'misbehaves'

ROMS
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Kitkat. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.

Endeavoru specific notes:
You will need at least a particular version of CWM recovery to flash AICP Kitkat. It should be version 6.0.4.5 or later. As of the initial release of AICP KK 1.0,
- one is available in CM 11.0 thread, recovery-6.0.4.5-endeavoru.img.
- Phil's Touch recovery version 6.07.9 based on CWM 6.0.4.5 or later also does the job.
Please remember to flash boot.img included in the ROM's zip file via fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
[*][B]Xposed users:[/B] it seems that we are still feeling our way around SELinux/xposed here. So, as usual with any custom piece of software such as any ROM here in XDA, note that there are no guarantees given, stated or implied when it comes to the flaws inherent in the current version or implementation of xposed in this ROM that may cause data loss or any kind of damage. ROM doesn't come preinstalled with xposed. By downloading and installing xposed on your phone, you hereby agree to not hold me, my team, teemo, Lloir, or rogro89 in any possible way responsible for any damage that it may cause. As per @teemo's instructions,if you have it installed, uninstall Xposed completely (not the modules). Then install again, activate and reboot for max security.

@eyosen
Nice to see your first own thread! I'm usin' aicp kk in background since your first alpha/beta release. I've to say this is the most stable and fastest KitKat I've tried on HOX.
BUT: since beta from 29th phone app is force closing. So I copied phone app from 21th release to 29th and FC is gone. So...what is gone wrong in repo or what else between that?

Thank you. I'm excited TBH with you.
I have been using the phone actively, and did not experience that issue. Can you try erasing data and cache of phone app and resync that with google if necessary? There were some changes to commits included earlier so that maybe the cause. Have you tried after full wipe?
Just flashed the rom everything works as expected
very smooth
halo, wifi and bt everything works for me
Also no echo bug
Pretty stable rom :good:
Ahhh one more for hox. Good to see!
Hi, I've downloaded both Rom and gaps and ready to flash, but don't know if I can use xm's kernel as alternative , and witch gaps is better to flash ?

Any gapps are fine as long as they are KitKat ones. I've given links to two in op. As for other kernels, please try with included one first until you get the hang of features and their limitations. That's what I would do. Xmister is still working on his kernel.
Nice rom! I just flashed it, and already love it
Very good for RC1.
Thanks to @eyosen and AICP team.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days, it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). However, many others have joined the project since and it has grown a lot. We have seen a wide variety of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone on to help other projects, and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base, which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. With that said, it has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Runs very smooth with many integrated possibilities to tweak the system.
The first rom, where everything is running.

Installed and very happy so far.
Runs very smooth with many integrated possibilities to tweak the system.
The first rom, where everything is running.
VPN is working, my exFat Sd card gets mounted. Absolutely great.
Will report long-time experience.

Those flashing custom Roms should know a thing or three before galloping into the wild blue yonder.
Thank you for the help, anyway.

UPDATE:
Installed this rom and....uauuuu
I lost the count the number of roms i have installed on telephone`s....but taking in consideration this is a new recent phone, everthing i try so far works very well:
- Gestures
- DPI as 330
- NO fc
The only "negative" point, if i can call it its the quality of photos vs original...but those who already using this roms, now who it is...
Almost forgotten...
Navigon gps software seems to work!!
At least did install without problems!
Congratulations! Very impressed so far!

I have two questions for you.
1) what movie is that?
2) Why did you choose 330 DPI?
Thanks!

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days -- it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and gained contributors in the process. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew further with experience and learned a lot more along the way.
It has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning, striving to grow each day, and continuing to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We do not believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going comes out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All that we do ask is that you have patience, search for answers prior to posting, read, and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Currently that's being reviewed to make sure it doesn't break anything, you can find those commits in our gerrit
Once verified that things are good across the board, we will go ahead and merge them and start tracking updates from CM on that

Currently we don't but we are working on our own updater but that's being coded from scratch so it takes a bit of time
Anybody tried with multi ROM? It's not booting for me.

Good to see this become official. Ran last couple test builds, rock solid. Easy in top 3 Roms for hammerhead. Thanks again

Wow glad to see Dirty Unicorns Lollipop version. My only 2 questions are does it support f2fs since i've noticed that file system really does improve responsiveness on the few roms i've tried it with. And how's battery life so far for you? I know DU 4.4.4 battery life was my only issue and I've been loving the 4.5 hours of SOT Cataclysm\Code blue gives me on cellular.
