[Q] force nav bar position to right hand side in landscape? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi,
I'm looking for a mod or app that can force the nav bar to the right hand side of the screen when I go into landscape mode. Effectively I need it to stay where it is in portrait mode.
Not a big issue just annoying that so many pixels are wasted on the narrow dimension.
Thanks

Download the module Phab7 for Xposed Framework, it allows to move the nav bar !

While that works, it's not exactly ideal because it switches everything to the phone UI, including the notifications shade. Is there another way to force the nav bar to the right side without messing with anything else?

Bump. Anyone have any ideas?

i use the GMD auto hide soft key app, which shifts the nav bar always to the right hand side, when turning the tablet into landscape mode. you need to be rooted to use this. hope it helps, cheers

Awesome, thanks oXnoX, that's better than nothing! :victory:
It seams odd though that there's no app just to do the one thing by itself

[Q] large back button on nav bar

So I really want to mod the Nav Bar (forcing menu button to show, changing size, etc) but I only found a way only by enabling nav bar mods in GravityBox or Xblast tools. But when I do that, the back button on the Nav Bar becomes unusually large compared to other buttons. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? If you need a screenshot I'll upload one.
Thanks in advance.
Apparently I'm not alone on that - I'm running ViperOne and the same thing happened when i wanted to do some color-modding. I gave up on it and shrank it and it evened out - I went to 65% originally, but now am at 55%. Not sure where the line is, but if you shrink it, it will even up with the other two eventually.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have even tried using SoftkeyZ but when I do that it does the opposite and shrinks the back button to the point it looks ridiculous.

I would love to find a solution to this as well. Don't like having to downsize the nav bar to make them even.

Have you tried [APP][4.0+]Ultimate Dynamic Navbar ?

Thanks for the tip! I use GravityBox for its handy Navigation Ring mods. Can Dynamic Navbar modify the Nav Ring and/or work with GravityBox when it is modifying the Nav Ring? Also, is this safe allowing blanket permissions without seeing the source code? Sorry, I'm not a dev, curious what more informed people know about this…

I just went ahead and tried this. Didn't work for me. When I opened Ultimate Dynamic Navbar, most of the options were unreadable—they just had an ellipsis, the last one or two words of the option description, and then perhaps a checkbox. You couldn't read it. I tried it in both portrait and landscape, always with GravityBox disabled and after a full reboot. Doesn't seem to work correctly on m8 for whatever reason.

Again I'm not a dev, but I wonder if this—implemented in the mod—would fix it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452822. I'll post this in the GravityBox thread I guess…
Have you tried seeing how you can customize it with [MOD][Xposed] Xtended NavBar ?
It fairly new though, status still shows as testing...Looks interesting nontheless.

Anyway to make navigation bar transparent for all apps?

I'm looking for a way to make the navigation bar transparent so when in an app like Chrome or YouTube you can see what's on the tab itself rather than the black bar with the navigation keys. I tried using apps that hide the navigation bar but I felt that it added an unnecessary stuff. So what I'm looking for is a way to make the bar transparent but still have the navigation buttons (home, multi function and back buttons) still be accessible. Anyone in know how this can be done? Also, not looking for ways that require root.

I'd like to know this as well. I know you can use Nav Bar Apps (Play Store link) to change the color of the Nav bar based on the app you are using. However, I haven't been able to use it to make the nav bar transparent.
For now, I've enabled full immersive mode and use Pie Control (Play Store link). So I almost never see the nav bar on the bottom of the screen. The only time the bottom nav bar shows up is with the Google Keyboard and I haven't figured out a way to disable that yet.

I basically spent the whole day looking for an answer but the closest I came was a video on how to do it on a LG g3. It requires root though. Can't believe that with all the thin bezels this year, a way hasn't been found. It defeats the purpose to having thin bezels when the navigation bar makes it look like the bezels are huge. Smh
I'd like the same!! I've enabled immersive mode, but when it's enabled, it causes weird locking/unlocking screen issues.

Check the thread where you got the adb command. There is an shell command you can execute and it's fixed the freezes for me.

Gestures instead of navigation bar on OP5T

Hi.
Got my OP5T 4 days back..
Does anyone in the forum know if we can use only gestures instead of virtual navigation buttons like iPhone x..coz I hate how it consumes space at the bottom..
Previously I was using all in one gestures to control my volume in OP3.
Thanks,
Shyam
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
I would love if it had the same gestures as the iPhone X.
All in one gesture, and if u go down to the themes and apps portion of this forum there is a post that shows u how to hide the navigation bar
Dunno if this is what you're looking for, but on my previous device I used the app "J Touch" from the Play Store as my navbar replacement+. Haven't got my 5T yet, but i intend to load it up immediately as I, too, dislike losing that precious real estate.
Using All In One Gesture and disabled the nav bar using Substratum's Navbar Height Changer theme (requires root).
Works like a charm. No more hitting the home button when missing the keyboard space bar!

I'm doing the same but it breaks the power menu I've found. It does a soft reset instead of bringing up my reboot options. At least I think that's what's happened.

Same here, but I installed the Reboot app to fix this.
Thanks guys! I hid my navbar, and installed All in one gestures. This is nice
I use swipe navigation for gestures. But I cannot for now hide the navigation bar permanently. For infos, I'm not rooted.

How is it?
It won't launch without the location permission for advertising purposes.
I'm now running xposed to disable the navbar, but of course that triggers safetynet...
I'd really appreciate if someone could help finding a way to disable the navbar without xposed and the reboot breaking subtratum theme I would be extremely grateful!

Gravitybox!
In 'navigation bar tweaks' turn on the master switch and then turn 'enable navigation bar' off.
It should work fine after a reboot!

I combined 0 nav bar height with LMT https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
and swipe navigation https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation&hl=en
You can also bind navigation actions like back, home, recent to an edge menu like Swiftly Switch. (no root or xposed required) Though you do have to enable permissions like drawing over other applications.
All of these solutions seem kinda messy and require rooting. Is there no clean way to do this without modding my phone?

rotation of navigation bar between landscape and portrait?

I am trying to figure out a way to have the navigation bar rotate with the orientation of the screen on my brand new S4. I have looked everywhere and couldn't find any info. In portrait I like having the nav bar at the bottom of the screen but I would prefer in landscape mode to have the navigation bar on the right side of the screen. Does anyone know how to accomplish this because I am lost. Thank you in advance for your help.

Completely agree, probably my biggest issue with this tab. Looked for a bit after buying and never found anything. I just want it to do what my note 8 does.
If you figure it out let us know
Yup. I was super annoyed too. What I did was I switched to nova launcher and turned off the dock. Put my icons where I wanted them to be and ensured the gestures were correct for swipe up and down.
Works. I’m still trying to get things just right.

Gotcha... From the first line looked like he wanted it to rotate, then on later I see not. So actually we don't want the navbar to rotate.
My pixel 2 XL nav bar performs as the OP wants... I will check settings not sure...

Unfortunately the app you suggested requires a level of accessibility services that forces you to remove encryption from the tablet, which I am not willing to allow. Thanks for the recommendation though.
I had a Google pixel C until I recently cracked the screen and I went out and bought this tablet because of the specs. However one thing that bugs me is when the screen rotates while using Nova Launcher my icon dock stays on the right of the screen instead of switching to the bottom of the screen to match the orientation. Am I missing something here? I know the o p was referencing the navigation bar but I have a similar issue with the icon dock in Nova Launcher.

When I first bought my Tab S4 I was annoyed when I found that the dock does not show at the bottom when the screen is in landscape mode. Instead it stays on the side. I finally found a post that solved this problem for me.
Your issue seems to be the reverse, so maybe the reverse of the solution I tried would work for you which is reducing the screen zoom in the Display settings in the main Settings page.
Good luck!

Question Keep Nav Bar On?

Just picked up a Galaxy Z Fold 3 for a decent price!
Is there a way to keep the Nav Bar always on as with certain apps it drives me crazy when is disappears as when I swipe up to view the Nav Bar it doesn't always show up or clicks something else in the app etc! I would prefer it to always be on. Thanks

There certainly is. Search for navigation bar in the settings.
I never use gestures because they are misinterpreted by apps way too often. We have oodles of screen real estate on this bad boy, too.
Edit: using Good Lock (from the Samsung store) you can seriously customise that navigation bar as well.

Sorry I know that. I already have the Nav Bar on. But what I'm hoping for is to leave it on so when an app like Amazon music is open it doesn't go into full screen so what I'm hoping for is to keep Nav Bar always there. Hope fully

Also looking for a solution to this. There are no app settings that force the navigation bar to be always on, and some apps could greatly benefit from it.
I've been looking for a solution for one year, I finally found this blog post https://mobilepains.com/how-to-remove-full-screen-mode-on-android/ that recommended installing a third-party Navigation bar app. That did the job.
