Installation
Requirements: Your device must be unlocked via htcdev.com. There are many guides for this
0)
Make sure your USB drivers are up to date and working. See bottom of this post.
1)
First things first:
Backup your programs/data.
Use your existing recovery to backup your current ROM/Data.
2)
For KitKat you need a new Recovery with SELinux support
Download Thömys CWM6047 or Philz v.6.xx.x-endeavoru or TWRP 2.8.X.X to your PC
Note: You must unzip the image first if you choose Philz. Thomys and mine are ready to flash.
3)
Copy the ROM and gapps to your HOX
Unzip boot.img from the ROM to your PC
4)
Boot to bootloader. Use power button or "adb reboot bootloader"
Flash the new recovery and the boot.img from the ROM.zip
Code:
$ fastboot flash recovery slim-twrp-recovery.img
$ fastboot flash boot boot.img
$ fastboot erase cache
6)
Reboot to recovery.
Clear/wipe data. (You can skip this step if you flash over Slim 3.X)
Flash ROM
Flash gapps (flashing ROM will wipe the system)
Reboot
Please report any issues you find.
Some USB errors in Windows can be solved this way:
Small guide for solving problem with usb not working in Windows.
I never have usb problems with my Linux. It just works. Always.
But at work, my Windows7 like to change settings as it think is best for me. I guess it just don't know me well enough. Here is what I do when Windows get confused and forget what I want.
First make sure you have the latest drivers from Google and HTC.
Install latest drivers from HTC for your PC. http://www.htc.com
Next, get your adb/fastboot drivers updated.
Locate "android.bat", mine is in C:\Android\android-sdk\tools, but yours will be wherever you initially installed your adb drivers.
Run the file and install any suggested updates.
Windows device manager (run devmgmt.msc from start menu or a command window).
Connect your phone and check where it get attached. For a working connection, it should say "Android USB Devices" -> "My HTC", but since you read this, chances are, that your device is in "Other Devices" -> "Android Phone".
That is what this guide will correct.
1. Wrong driver - double click "Android Phone"
2. Update Driver
3. Browse (for your HTC driver, which is already installed)
4. Pick the driver yourself
5. Select "Android USB Devices" -> Next
6. Select "My HTC" -> Next
7. Choose Yes - You know you want the HTC driver
8. Ahhh, success - test your adb/fastboot/MTP/UMS
9. Here is what happened. We make Windows choose the correct driver and Windows will place it under Android USB Devices.

Lol no, the echo is not for you - it's for the other part
I had one complain - not sure how reliable though.

Yay! Finally the good cookie has been served.
Downloading.....
Is the "signal drop" bug ironed out?
I didn't have any major complain except that
on past betas.
Will report how it works t'morrow.
Thanks!

Thanks teemo. Good to have slim for hox.

"Signal drop" should be gone now. But let's give it some time and see.
Actually it was not a signal drop. It was simply the Phone App getting killed. When restarted, it would ask for PIN as it should, which was very annoying.

Impression of first few hours :good:
Initially due to low dpi, I had to use a microscope(almost),
but increased it to 320 everything looks revealing and beautiful.
Everything is working perfectly. ROM is totally smooth and snappy.
A number of annoyances has been reduced/removed.
Battery life(seems to be stable but will decide later).
Upd(04-02-14): The memory leak bug suddenly appeared.
After reboot I tried to turn on bluetooth without turning on wifi
and bluetooth share has stopped error came so I didn't take kmsg.
Bluetooth working fine.
Upd(30-01-14): Battery life seems to be pretty awesome here.
Screen-on time doesn't drain much. And BT is finally working properly.
Greatly relieved that memory leak bug is fixed(hopefully) since the
rom didn't go zero to crap in few hours, unlike other KitKats.
Things to improve(top-medium priority for me)
- Enable 3-dot menu by default since H/W recent is set to recent apps
(I know I can change recent to menu but 3-dot is convenient)
- Vibration strength should be reduced, currently its causing mini-earthquakes in my room
(Don't know if any option is hidden somewhere, will look for it)
Wishlist(low priority for me) :fingers-crossed:
- Working Wi-Fi tether
- Working Wi-Fi direct(assuming same as CM)
- Theme chooser
Note: My priority is not equal to developer's priority, just expressing my opinion. No pressure, no demands.
Thanks for the great rom. Looking forward to more developments

Great I will give it a try tomorrow ! Thank you teemo...

Extremely good work, keep up this great update. Is the most battery friendly rom i have tried after sense. Thanks for keeping the support to hox

Great to see this topic!

Hi teemo thanks for this awesome rom!
Just a question: is it normal that while playing music if I tap on the screen or change task I get sound distortion?

Doesn't seem to be normal. I don't have it.

Sure I know that.
It's just after I installed it over 27th build, right after you send me the link I thought I didn't have it (or the other part , I checked myself because I also looked about the phone app crash issue)
But now after full wipe I do have it also unfortunately.
Also tried with xm#16 but still present.
Nevertheless great rom again.

Maybe try different player?
Haven't tested v4a yet but will do soon...
Edit:
Have you tried latest version? You could also try to disable or unistall dsp manager.
Or of you cannot install drivers because of Super user try a different app.

Found bug :
1. Bluetooth can't received file from PC.
2. Can't sign google account in account settings.
3. android.process FC for 2 times.
4. Backlight always on (maybe the kernel?)
5. As phiexz said, camera wrong orientation.
---
i don't know what is the changelog from 7.1.0 RC 3.0. Galaxy Ace thread says that the changelog is under the hood (maybe the performance), not the cosmetics (appearance).

Sure, i upgraded it from Rc 3.0
Upgraded from 7.1.0 RC3.0. Everything seems to work except the camera orientation. I've noticed a faster connection to the GSM and 3G network. In RC 3.0 it ometimes took ages to get a connection.
Is it non wipe like CM7 nightlies...
I dont want to redo everything again just to test...
I dont have problems with the previous version, but it is my second phone, only use SMS, calls, bluetooth, wifi and market...
gps
1. Gps not working, not even shows the icon in notification bar.
2. After a call, the screen remains blank, the proximity sensor have issues.
Back to RC3
fantastic! fast update
i want to try it, but not now
tried to install from rc 2. having troubles: at the boot appears a "android" logo and then nothing else. returning to rc2

i also had this, try re-running the zip in recovery agn, and reboot it a few times. i did this and it was okay.
Thanks for your reports about the bugs.
By the way, just for info.
I, friend of phiexz want to say this. Maybe phiexz will probably take a little longer time to fix the bugs because of his busy in college. He has so many task to do for his college, so he asked our help to find the bugs on 7.2 and post it here. Once he is not busy anymore, he will fix the bugs for us.
So, we have to be patience.
ok, because not many reacted on the update test, i just installed it over the RC3 without wipe or anything.
First look was ok, but no apps that where installed, so i rebooted again, and all is working, what was already on the phone.
Yes, camera has lost its direction and barcode scanner too .. but heck we know that ... link2sd still ok, wifi and 3G working, root explorer and google / gmail, Go contact, sounds market still working ... so no complaints yet ... other then the known issues oh wait Angry birds seasons still works !!
small correction, Gmail settings did not remember to synch email, but ticked that option again and its working
Correction (and wierd!) Qr scanner works ok (applied the fix on RC3) so cam scks but barcode scanner works
I cant connect to google account.
Fast discharged baterry, if I use only wifi, and 3G and screen light on 25%, 1% baterry per minute, its very bad. If screen is off, and locked, everything with baterry its okay (baterry is after callibration).
I not prefer ADW launcher, because it is slow, i Installed GO Launcher, and it is very faster than ADW on this ROM.
I've not found other bugs.

Me and rogro82 started to port Android 4.2 to the HTC One X
Working
Wireless
Phone calls
GSM Data
Audio
Video Playback (including HD)
Camera (no photosphere - blame google)
GPS
NFC
Bluetooth
BT and Wireless tethering
Not Working
USB tethering (?)
Installation instructions
BACKUP YOUR DATA (using CWM)
Verify that your backup is complete - a backup of your sdcard may also be a good idea (see below)
Verify that you are running hboot 1.26 or newer (hboot 1.39 is recommended)
Download the ZIP and the boot.img (see Downloads)
Copy the .zip to your sdcard and reboot into fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img, then boot into recovery
WIPE your phone (this is not optional)
Install the .zip and reboot
Upgrading
You can always upgrade to a newer version without wiping any data, formatting system or wiping the cache.
But keep in mind that you must always flash boot.img + re-flash gapps after upgrading
Changelog
RC20 (20130825)
Fixed the two Android 'master key' bugs
Kernel patch for CVE-2013-2094
RC19 (20130317)
Merged CMs audio volume patch (http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/33778/)

RC18 (20130311)
Option to control button backlight depending on the screen brightness (Settings -> Display)
Software fix for pabx's broken headphone jack detecion: Added an option to forcefully route mediaplayer-output to the headphone jack. (Settings -> Audio)

Use latest WIFI Firmware (improves reception)
RC16 (20130216)
Added ro.adb.secure=1 to build.props. The phone will now only accept ADB connections from authenticated hosts. Note that you must upgrade your local ADB installation to the version included in the 4.2.2 SDK. Connecting with an pre-4.2.2 adb will not work
Fixed quicksettings: longpress = toggle, press = settings
Internal: Use CMs nicer audio-recording patch
RC15 (20130213) Android 4.2.2
Upgraded to Android 4.2.2_r1
Silenced vibrate kernel driver + removed unneeded pm_qos request
RC14 (20130208) Kernel 3.1.10
First release with Linux 3.1.10. Note that you MUST upgrade your hboot to 1.3x (1.2 versions may work - any feedback is appreciated, but any version < 1.2 will NOT work - your phone will freeze during deepsleep!)
Mounting USB-OTG devices on 4.2 is somewhat tricky as filesystems are not shared with 'parent' processes - using some userspace app like 'Nexus Photo Importer' is recommended
Switched to ondemand govenor as the old 'interactive' is broken in HTCs Linux 3.1.10 source drop (doesn't make a big difference)
RC13 (20130202)
Merged missing cam pull request
Option to change the max frequency in settings (Developer Options -> CPU Frequency)
Improved frequency management - say goodbye audio dropouts!
RC12 (20130122)

Support for encrypted /data partition. (see this post)
Ability to limit the max CPU frequency (see this post)
Enhanced included Camera App (thanks to herrvorragend23)
Include SimToolkit
Option to change the Home + Menu longpress behaviour (Settings -> Display)
RC10 (20130104)
Support for big /data partition. This is experimental, see this post
Mount /data with '-o discard'
RC9 (20121229)
Added 'volume rocker' support (disabled by default -> settings -> sound)
Bluetooth Audio (A2DP) is now working
Stubborn BT devices should now be able to pair
RC8 (20121225)
Fixed WIFI Tethering
Changed halo background
RC7 (20121220) Doomsday edition
Bluetooth Tethering support (still a little bit flaky, try to re-enable bluetooth + tethering if the connection drops)
Changed quicksettings behaviour: Short press = toggle / Long press = open settings
Reboot + Screenshot options in Power-Off menu (thanks to lownoise2)
RC6 (20121219)
Support for Bluetooth file transfer and HID (Again: thanks to rogro82)
AUDIO AND INTERNET SHARING VIA BLUETOOTH ARE CURRENTLY NOT WORKING
RC5 (20121215)
Audio recording fixed (Send your thanks to rogro82)
Developer-Options enabled by default in Settings
Display internal + sdcard storage in Settings
Improved holo-background gardient
Switching from/to 2G-Data-Only works without reboot
'Silent' GSM-Data drop is hopefully gone
RC4 (20121211)
Camera support Install this if the camera icon is missing in your app drawer
RC3 (20121209)
Paid applications can now be installed using Play Store
Unity engine based games work correctly
Hboot 1.3x support
RC2 (20121202)
Multitouch fixed
Based on Android 4.2.1 (December fixed)
HD-Videos (OMX) working

FAQ
I can not upgrade my hboot to 1.3x, help!
You can still run RC13:
This was the last release using Linux 2.6 and will therefore work on older hboot versions. RC13 is stable enough for everyday-use.
What kernel should i use?
Use the stock kernel from boot.img - there is nothing wrong with it. Using a different boot.img or/and kernel will just break stuff.
Even more links!

For people wondering:
Although its an AOSP build it does have multi-user support which originally is only available on tablets in AOSP ( users can be added in settings )
Will try it as soon as links posted, thanks for your work! Can't wait for some of the important things like camera to work.
Will have to give this one a shot. Looks very interesting, even though there's some major flaws. Official CM10 has never been stable on the HOX, so looking for alternatives. AOSP might be the solution, in the long run (not currently in that state ).
Good luck with the upcoming work, attempts, hacks, tweaks etc.!
EDIT:
1. You can add NFC to the list of working things. Just tested it with a tag.
2. The performance of the ROM seems very snappy and nice. Just because of it I had to take a few benchmark tests, and yeah, the ROM performs! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Api2mSgk7cfUdENKWWVqNnUyS013dnJpMGxNQXZxeEE (oops, wasn't made public at first)
Generally about Android 4.2 and its new quick settings (QS):
I wonder why Google doesn't allow us to reorder the grid (by long pressing on the items, much like on their launcher; folders). Would be great if one could add or remove buttons too. Personally I'd like to add GPS + NFC and remove 'Airplane mode'. When tapping on the items their respective activities is started. Convenient sometimes, but it makes QS pretty much useless... On/Off toggling would've been the preferred way I think. Much like how the Airplane mode button works... it doesn't even ask the user if the device should be put in airplane mode (which I think is pretty vital).
Voted to XDA News page
5 Star'd
Keep up the good work Gentleman
Definitely wanna try, but will probably wait until it's a little more stable.
Needed to rename rc0.boot_img to rc0boot.img (really any .img name would work) but otherwise booting fine straight over the top of latest CM10 nightlies. I'm no dev, but love being on the bleeding edge

Great job. Thank you guys.

Yes this is hboot related ( i will notify pabx to put this in the first post )
To everyone:
Please feel free to post bug reports ( if not already mentioned in the first post by pabx ) and in case of a crash a logcat would be great
This is really exciting, thanks guys.

Where do we find the Email app, for non-Gmail mail? I do see the Exchange apk, but no Email apk. Should we use the one from 4.1, or does 4.2 have a new mail client app? Thanks for the awesome work too by the way; so far this is actually impressively stable for a preview (known issues aside, and more testing to be done)!
Compiled the new Email app from source... I guess you can just push it to /system/app.
I have not been able to test it yet though, so i cant say if its 100% working

This is a known issue (see first post -> location services) and is already fixed in the git version.
We will probably release a new build that includes the fix today or tomorrow.
I have the feeling that the dpi is slightly off. On the lockscreen for example the widget area is bigger than the screen and The numberpad to enter the pin is cramped together. (I have no better way to explain it. Sorry)
Awesome guys keep on going will flash this one as soon as camera is fully functional as I really need it for work !!:good::good::good::good:

Welcome to SentinelROM for Nexus 10.
NOTE: Pictured with 'Zooper Widget' (included) and 'Eye In Sky' (not included but free download) homescreen widgets.
This is my first custom ROM build and has been a long time in the making, but it's finally ready for release.
This ROM is based on the Stock JOP40D 4.2.1 ROM with the following features.
Stock Kernel
Rooted with Busybox and SuperUser installed
De-Odexed
Zip Aligned
ADB root access with Remount
init.d support
'Seeder' mod for improved 3D gaming performance
'Enhanced Quick Settings Menu (See below for details)
Advanced Power Menu with Hot Boot, Bootloader and Recovery options
Long press Vol+ / Vol- to skip tracks forward and back
CyanogenMod File Manager pre-installed
Stock Gapps included
Zooper Widget Free pre-installed (awesome widgets!)
Your own free copy of my latest Music Player app (Sentinel Music Player) pre-installed
________________________
This ROM has been built to enhance the stock experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!), as well as the added benefits of Root access, and an Advanced Power Menu you let you quickly hot-restart, or reboot into Recovery or Bootloader. You cna even skip tracks forward and back while your tablet is asleep by long pressing the Vol+ or Vol- button.
As of version 2.10, enhanced Quick Settings are available (ported from kevdliu's AOSP quick settings for Galaxy Nexus).
Features:
- Press to directly toggle Wifi and long press to access Wifi settings menu
- Press to directly toggle Mobile Data and long press to access Mobile Data settings menu
- Press to directly toggle BT and long press to access BT settings menu
- Persistent GPS Tile: Press to toggle GPS and long press to access Location settings menu
- Add Auto Rotation Tile
- Add Volume Tile (Press to display media volume slider and long press to access Volume settings menu)
- Add Screen Off Tile
- Add Ringer Modes Tile
- Add Torch Tile
- Reorder the tiles by enabling them in the order you want them to be placed (first enabled toggle will be placed first etc.)
- New softkeys
I've also included a free copy of Sentinel Music Player, which I am about to launch on the Android Market. This app lets you quickly browse for music on your device by Artist, Album, Genre, or even use it's inbuilt file manager to browse all the files and on your device. Included is the ability to control your music from the lock-screen and toolbar, as well as enable/disable features such as pause/play when headphones are unplugged or plugged in, or only play music via external speakers. this works wonders when using Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

There seems to be an issue with systemUI crashing in v2.10 from a fresh install. Please install v2.00 first if you are coming from a different ROM, then flash subsequent versions.
________________________
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM). If you haven't yet unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom recovery, I recommend downloading and installing the Nexus 10 Toolkit.
Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
Boot into your custom recovery
Back up your stock ROM
Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install the ROM and reboot. First boot can take up to 5 minutes.
Note, if you are coming from a stock ROM and have root access, you can back up your user apps and data using Titanium and restore them once you have flashed my ROM. Just be sure to only restore user apps and data, and no system ones as you may break things.
As this ROM uses the stock kernel, there should be no issues with overheating or anything nasty like that, however I am not responsible for any damage/data loss or anything else as a result of flashing, or attempting to flash this ROM.
________________________
Thanks very much to all those who have answered my questions through the process of creating my own ROM, you know who you are.
A big shout out to the Zooper Widget team for allowing me to cook in the free version. I strongly recommend you check out the Pro version as it really is the best custom widget application I have come across.
CyanogenMod for their excellent File Manager.
kevdliu for his enhanced Quick Settings menu (which I ported for this ROM)
scrosler for the AOSP source.

To update from SentinelROM v2.00, simply flash via custom recovery and erase cache/dalvik cache.
If coming from a different ROM, v2.00 must be flashed and fully booted first.

21/1/2013:-
v2.10 - Added enhanced Quick Settings menu. See OP for details
NOTE: If you are coming from a different ROM, you must install v2.00 first. Allow it to boot fully, then you can go back in to recovery and flash this version (remember to erase your cache/dalvik cache). I hope to have this resolved for the next build.

Re: [ROM] [20/1/13] - SentinelROM v2.00 - 4.2.1 - Root - De-Odex - Tweaks - APM - Th
I can finally play NFS with no lag OMG THANK YOU1!!
I was getting sick of playing it because as it got harder the lag mattered more and more. Now I can finally finish the game, I cannot thank you enough for having the seeder mod that I only wish I knew about sooner.
The only suggestion I have is to have a website (if you don't already) and to maybe add some options like the ability to mess with the DPI and whatnot like Paranoid does. Aside from that I cannot think of anything else that this baby needs except for maybe it's own Kernel later on to further improve it's godlyness. Although I doubt you can do too much better since this runs so darn well already.
P.S. Very nice job on the Music Player, I would love to see a Video Player from you that would play many different formats

Aaron

... You do know that Android 4.2 doesnt even use the /dev/random space that this "seeder mod" force feeds with mirrored data every second, right?
I had read that, but the performance did seem to be consistantly improved with it installed when I tested the ROM. Next time I do a new build, I'll do some more testing.

It's most likely because your CPU is being ramped up constantly. This is the same thing as putting your CPU minimum at a higher frequency (700 or so).
I tried this out. It's quite nice and smooth - definitely an experience that I wished the nexus 10 could have provided out of the box to say the least.

I so agree with you, I cannot believe that they did not release their product to being even 1/2 as stable and smooth as this one is.
I think that all other ROMs should look up to this one and take ideas from it because it is flawless!

That certainly makes sense. I'll log CPU stats and run the ROM with and without the mod to see what it reveals.
I've just uploaded a banner image for you guys to use if you feel like sharing the love.
See this post for the code.
Thanks again for the support so far
Re: [ROM] [20/1/13] - SentinelROM v2.00 - 4.2.1 - Root - De-Odex - Tweaks - APM - Th
I noticed that I have very limited amount of settings if not no real settings at all especially for the quick settings on the right which I would love to be able to control what it has on it that way I can easily turn on my torch and adjust other settings that I like to be able to adjust from time to time just by sliding down the right hand side of my notification bar a KA the quick settings I would really appreciate it if the next version would have options to the Quick Settings panel

Whoa. Punctuation is your friend!
Agreed. I'm looking at additional quick settings for future builds
SentinelROM v2.10 is uploading now.
I've added an enhanced Quick Settings menu as requested.
It should be available within an hour. I'll update the OP with the download link as soon as the upload is finished, and post back here.
Remember to follow us on Facebook for the latest news on updates before it hits here
SentinelROM v2.10 is now live. See the OP for details.
To install, simply flash the zip from your custom recovery and wipe your cache/dalvik cache.
If you're coming from a different ROM. SentinelROM v2.00 must be installed first.
After installing, you will see a new app available in your app drawer called "Quick Setting Control Panel", launch it to configure your quick settings menu however you like.
Enjoy!
Downloading now. Can't wait to give it a try!
I'm sorry I didn't use punctuation like I usually do. I was using my tablet to type for me and I kept forgetting to use. And I was too lazy to go back incorrect it all. Believe me when I say I'm usually the only one to be using all of the punctuation and grammar well no one else is. I cannot believe you already released the update with the requested settings. I really should have thought about more things to suggest for you like OTA updates via clockwork mod or goo manager. . At any case I'm extremely appreciated for this update and I cannot wait to see more as well as if you would like I would be more than glad to come up with plenty more suggestions for you and of course I'm always extremely patient to wait for them as is this is already an amazing ROM and there's really isn't a lot more to be done.

Q/A thread for the ROM
After a few months of work, I present you the one and only original ParanoidAndroid ROM brought to our beloved HD2.
It is compiled from source including all the great PA features.
Make sure you check out the PA team's G+ page for news, updates, tutorials, etc!

Features:
PA based on AOSP sources
Combined with legacy repos from Evervolv
Hybrid properties
PieUI
HALO
NAND, DataOnExt, NativeSD installation

Download v1.4a
(please do not mirror any of my files)
Recommended system size:
with TWRP recovery on NAND: 290MB
with any other recoveries: 400MB
Make sure you back up your Hybrid settings manually when updating!
Copy system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf to the sdcard before installing the new version. Copy it back afterwards, set permissions, reboot, and everything should be back as before.
What is working:
Phone
Audio
Data
WiFi
Bluetooth
Camera
Camcorder
GPS
Thethering (please install 3rd party app from Play Store)

Installation
Tools
Magldr, cLK and Haret supported
Recommended recovery: TWRP-Ex 2.5.0.5 from kokotas (either SD or NAND version)
CWM-based recoveries are reported to behave strange in some cases with the ROM
Installation steps
My goal was to create a simple installer with only the core apps you might need when installing a new system. I didn't want to include half of the PlayStore as additional apps/launchers, you can install whatever you want afterwards without consuming the valuable space on the system partition.
Download the ROM from the link above (no separate gapps package, everything included)
Copy the zip file to your SD card
Boot to your recovery and flash the image (installation types explained below)
Reboot
Wait a couple of minutes, the first boot always takes some time
In case of black screen after first setup, just press the home button
Installation typesNAND
every partition on internal storage
recommended for T-Mobile HD2 with 1024MB internal storage
NAND with DataOnEXT
data partition is located on sd-ext4 partition, otherwise similar to NAND method
recommended for EU HD2 with 512MB internal storage
use only with high speed SD cards (class 6 or above) otherwise you might get poor performance
NativeSD
system and data are on the same sd-ext partition, boot is on the FAT32 sd partition
recommended for EU HD2 with 512MB internal storage
use only with high speed SD cards (class 6 or above) otherwise you might get poor performance
My personal choice: NativeSD for more flexibility and multi-boot purposes.

I will collect here the tips, tricks and fixes for this ROM based on user experience.
Tips:
If you want to make app opening more fluid, disable per-app color in hybrid settings. There is a half-second lag because the framework recolors the statusbar, icons and the navbar every time you switch app. If it does not bother you and you don't want to give up on the nice per-app color feature you can leave it enabled.
After first boot configuration press the home button if you see only black screen.
If the touch screen seems to be dead - e.g. you cannot press the small button when allowing super user request - set the PIE trigger area smaller. It covers a part of the screen.

young ... this rom is based on an entirely different basis, and you can not always change something or the system expand with another matters. if you need the slim rom you must work with slim rom. please read the first post:

this is the first compiled rom from NxStep and you ask thats make this rom to other "rom". have you installed and test this rom???
please more recognition
pixelfreak
P.S.
i cant wait for the install. LOL. My feadback for this rom
- clean instal with non problems
- the first screen is black and delete with the HOME button. (the same in my 4.2.2 roms)
- the dpi is to big for the navbar menu (i can not see the last icon to 100%. this menu have 3 icons. with dpi 200 is perfect)
- WIFI and mobile network works perfekt
- the big animations make the rom to slow for me. this we can change in the menu. i have installed the Nova Launcher and the rom is fast and good
- from time to time the touchscreen not responding properly
tomorrow i will test more this rom
To be honest, the framework animations (transition when switching app, etc) are not as smooth as on Pixelfreak's or macs18max's ROMs. I compared it to mac's Xylon-EV as I used it before this one. Although I don't know the reason behind, this might depend on the framework which is totally different in the two cases as stated above. The PA framework has to deal with the per-app transitions, Halo notifications, while the features of a CM-based ROM are mainly "fine tuning" things like middle aligned clock, etc. These settings are not too complex compared to Halo for example, often just a variable needs to be changed to get the result.
Anyway I'm really curious about the new features in CM (per-app privacy guard already merged or secure messaging WIP) and what effect they might have. It seems to be a new (nice) way for CM regarding feature enrichment imo.
I will do my best to speed up my ROM of course as I personally do not like laggy things either. As for now, it's worth to press yourself throught the developer and performance options just to find out what settings fit you the best.

Many thanks for your feedback, really appreciated!
Regarding touchscreen: Where exactly did you have problems? On the bottom of the screen when e.g. applying superuser rights you cannot click the small button? That might be caused because the PIE trigger area is too high and the framework handles it as if you were going to open the pie navigation.
If you guys can, please test the GPS as I'm not sure wether it works well or not.
Many thanks!
i installed with dataonext, for some reason /data was not mounted. not sure if it's an installer problem or initrd.gz all it said was there was 0 bytes in settings>storage, and data didn't appear in qtadb. which caused very random errors (first time setup many times, apps not installing...)
i will reinstall tomorrow and test, after some BIG SCARY exams.
now i gotta sleep, else it would be 5 hours of sleep for me

yes i say it. the small mistakes is only fine-tuning. i have see you have insert the DSP-Manager and you have no Musik Player insert in this rom.
@gilbert32 i think the problem is a missing data folder.
this is write in the updater.script: package_extract_dir("data", "/data");
and the rom have no data folder in the structure.
best regards

AMAZING!!!
My feedback. (NATIVESD)
really smooth rom
on 1st boot during setup USB mass storage came up for some reason ( just kept pressing back eventually it quit).
a bug with superuser some reason i have to click slightly above the allow button( probably due to hybrid settings).
Not sure if its a bug but does anyone know how to hide the status bar on the lockscreen in tablet mode( because you can still go to setings and other options from it).
HALO and most other stuff works perfectly.
Other than that AMAZING
Thanks
p.s. anyway to have regular mass usb storage like the one in regular roms

Installation InstructionsI recommend users of this rom to be on the latest firmware and Hboot with an S-OFF device.
NOTE: IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME FLASHING A 5.1 ROM, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO FLASH THE FIRMWARE UPDATE ZIP LISTED IN THE DOWNLOAD BELOW PRIOR TO FLASHING HIS ROM. THIS REQUIRED OTA NEEDS TO BE FLASHED VIA DOWNLOAD MODE WHICH YOU CAN ACCESS VIA BOOTLOADER.
Additionally, you need to be on at least TWRP if you intend to flash this rom.
If you are NOT on the latest recovery or have not flashed the ota firmwre and have a rom complaint, I will not address it.
Flashing Procedure is as follows:
1. Compare the md5 sum of your download.
-Windows: MD5 Calculator
-LINUX: Open Terminal and type: md5sum [path to the rom zip]
-Mac: Open a terminal and type: md5 [path to the rom zip]
2. Flash the required firmware update (1 time flash). If you've already done so, skip to step 3. If not:
If you want to flash without the aid of a PC, you MUST rename the file to 0PJAIMG.zip and your micro sd card MUST be formatted FAT32. exFAT and NTFS will not work. After doing so and entering Download mode, you should see the following:
Code:
Security Warning
If you flash this phone with any ROM
that was not officially released by HTC
you take the risk of
releasing your personal and financial
information to unknown sources.
FILE /mnt/media_rw/ext_sd/0PJAIMG.zip
press VolUp to start flash
press VolDown to cancel
Press VolUp to flash the firmware.
If you'd prefer to use your PC however instead of the recommended Download Mode method, do the following:
-Place the firmware zip file in your fastboot directory
-fastboot reboot bootloader (or just reboot to bootloader any which way you like)
-fastboot oem rebootRUU
-fastboot flash zip vzwm9ota5_1firmwareTWRP2864.zip
if you have changed the name of the zip file, obviously you would change it in the above command.
You will likely need to flash it twice if you choose to do it this way instead of the download mode method.
When completed, to get out of RUU mode, you do a fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now you can boot to recovery to flash any 5.1 rom
3. Reboot to Recovery: Recommended: twrp-2.8.6.4-hima
4. If you have already flash the required firmware, scroll down and select "Wipe"
5. Do a "Swipe Wipe" (I prefer a Full advanced Wipe of cache, dalvik, system, and data)
7. Install Rom Zip
8. Reboot and enjoy!Further questions about the ROM
Please check the FAQ in the second post. (Coming Soon)Note: A handful of users across the VZW M9 Forum have experienced permanent VoLTE loss. The reason behind this loss as far as anyone is concerned is inconclusive at this time and could simply be related to going S=OFF, rooting your device, or just by flashing custom firmware. Know the risk beforehand and do some research!
DO NOT Mirror this Rom, Quote my entire OP, or use this rom as a base for your Rom. I have already provided you with a stock base to use in another thread.

Been running Alphas of this for a few days... It was faster, more stable, and provided better battery life than any other M9 ROM I've flashed. Can't wait to try out the full release!
Also have to say that Neo worked his butt off in getting this up and running--mad respect for him!
Guys, disable Ambient Display for now. It doesn't light up the screen like it should and is an annoyance when trying to wake your phone when you have a notification come through lol I must've messed it up but I'll fix it next week. For now, go to Settings-Display&Gestures-Untick Ambient Display.
Sweet! Downloading now!

I have to say, feels so much faster than viper..still playing with it.. N thanks for your work.I've followed u back on my8 great roms u put out
Seems to be running great so far. I'm just hoping battery life can deliver. That can be fixed though if not. Either way, I'm glad to have a fast, stock looking rom that works. Thank you sir, I'll send you a couple beers when I'm finished recovering from the move.

Thanks!
Battery is pretty nice imo. I had a 2% overnight loss in a 7 hour time frame. That's without using any power savers or turning the radio off.
To anyone else running this rom: Whatdya think? How's that lag free keyboard ? What needs to be improved?
I highly recommend flashing the Xposed Framework (xposed-sdk21-arm64-20150430.zip) and the Zero infinity sound mod. Both of which you can find on XDA. Normally I would have included both of these in the rom however on the m9, doing so led to a no boot. They work great flashing after the rom though! If I have some time later I will link both mods in Post #2.
That's pretty good. Right there with viper which is by far the best life that I've found on this phone so far. Screen on drain seems a bit faster but I only flashed last night so it needs to settle a bit but I'm confident that it will at least match it if not beat it .
I flashed the 04/30 xposed. I'll check out the sound mod too. Sense 6 toolbox seems to be working for the most part but they're still working on bugs. I can't think of anything to improve yet. Too early

The Audio Mod I highly recommend can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211163
Make sure to thank him for his work. It truly is a noticeable improvement.
The Xposed Framework to flash can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com.amka.biz/xposed/xposed-android-5-1-successfully-t3074586
Make sure to thank him for making it arm64 compatible. Sdk21 is the one to download (since we're 5.0.2).
