4.4.2 International Roms - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Will I be able to flash 4.4.2 international roms on my phone, I can flash the 4.3 with no problem, but I'm not sure if the 4.4.2 will work on my phone. I would like to try this one out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472301
Thanks, any comment is appreciated.

From what I've read recently we need a kernel before our phones will run 4.4.2. I can always be wrong since things change daily

Do not flash anything with a bootloader! You will be stuck.
I wouldn't try any of the 4.4.2 TW builds from any other device at this time. Wait for someone to Port and have a good working kernel for our phones.

It's so difficult to see kitkat roms for many other devices and nothing for us. We have to wait till there is an official or leak of T-Mobile version of kitkat to have anything started. Just hold back guys. This is not going to be late...

Yeah, its really annoying that that even AT&T has a leaked version and we still cant use that. There arent even any devs working on a kernel, seems like everyone is just waiting for samsung.

Not everyone is looking at YOUR question. Have some respect/patience. There are threads guiding how to flash a different firmware version all over the net using Odin, in the hour you waited for a response, you could have easily used Google to find your solution.
Now you may have an issue about Knox, but since you are going from 4.4 to 4.3 (both a knox bootloader) i don't think there will be any issues.
If you have a custom recovery, just flash a 4.3 ROM
If not, use Odin to flash the 4.3 official firmware package.
With the information i provided you, you should easily be able to achieve what you need to do via Google search.

Are you sure the 4.4 to 4.3 thing works? I've been using 4.2 on my S4 (I9500) all along, and recently upgraded to 4.4. I strongly dislike KitKat and would ideally like to go back to 4.2, but if there's no way of doing so, 4.3 would be fine.

I have not tried it myself. It was just speculation since they are both knox bootloaders. The worst that will happen is Odin will say it failed OR your Knox will be tripped (which i see highly unlikely as knox detects changes from what "should" be there)

Thanks for the help. There were some people who said that it's impossible to go back to 4.2.2 from 4.4.2 and some that said you can't even go back to 4.3, but then others that said it is possible. I tried a number of different ROMs and they didn't boot at all. Then I tried Omega ROM v14.1 (Android 4.2.2), and that works brilliantly now.
Here's the thread for it from this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232887. Only seems to be for Samsung Galaxy devices at this point.
It is an unbloated TW ROM (actually allows you to choose which Google and Samsung apps to install during a custom install process that begins when you flash it). It's faster than all my previous versions of Android, and obviously takes up less space.
Annoying that not everything works and that it took such a long time to get a successful installation, but at least I've found a ROM that has what I was looking for.

Yup but that is a custom ROM and with proper recovery you can go down to 4.2.2 but when we speak of Stock Samy Firmware and Odin it is imposible i have tested it. And Omega is great but still Custom hehehehe

Oh yeah, I became aware of that very early on during my search. All the ROMs I've been trying to get working have been custom and Omega is the only one that's actually booted.
I'm just glad I found something that looks like my old TW 4.2.2. Don't really mind whether or not it's custom. It is a shame that you can't go back to older official Samsung firmware once you've updated though. What do you think the reason for that is?

[Q] Should I update to KitKat 4.4.2? (MI7 Note 3)

In the hopes that this question may help others and not seeing this question being remotely asked from what i searched, Is it recommended to update to 4.4.2 KitKat or should I wait it out?
additional questions:
- is it better to flash it if i root my note 3? (MI7)
- should i root the note 3 at it's current version (4.3) and just stick to the roms currently available for it?
- most importantly, if i were to do the ota for 4.4.2 and root (with knox tripped) will i still be able to flash roms based on 4.4.2 (like cyanogenmod) without much problem?
things to know:
- I'm aware that installing the 4.4.2 update means i won't be able to revert back to 4.3.
- Mostly aware of the fact that a recovery is present for 4.4.2
- Not entirely sure if t-mobile locks their bootloaders on the new update. Some people on the forums hint that it's not locked but never really found a straight answer.
- Done a lot of forum digging but willing to search more if need be.
sincere apologies if my question sounds absurd and preposterous, however any answer is appreciated.
People have slightly mixed feelings on the update, but from what I'm seeing their mostly regretting taking the OTA or Odin flash and missing 4.3 JB. Though the new bootloader is not locked it would be better for you to just remain on 4.3 until devs can provide more support and information on the 4.4.2 official update. Besides as long as your on 4.3 you can still flash 4.4.2 roms and 4.3 roms you just need to follow instructions on the devs op. I myself opted to wait it out simply because my phone is flawless the way it is on 4.3 and there was not enough reason why 4.4.2 was a must have update, even if it was I still would have waited for the devs to do their thing first.

Yeah I want to upgrade because I heard they fixed the AVRCP and I use it a lot, I was so pissed that samsung botched that when the note 3 came out. Now I hear that all the music apps can send meta data now.
If you cherish tethering, do not update.

The short answer is no, and the long answer is hell no.
TWEAKED ROM has an update that stops the over-the-air (OTA) update. It's a separate zip with the mini-update.

I finally took the plunge and rooted 4.3 and did the kitkat update while maintaining root so I can use the sd card write fix. My thoughts, is there is no advantage to kitkat but more disadvantages. I still get the occasional stutter and lag which rarely happened on JB so I broke even on that.
But I'm using Nova launcher and now home button does not take me to my default home screen. So I have to swipe to home screen since I have a folder in there for certain apps and games. Also the animation now just starts from the center when opening app from home screen.
The other issue is I use a samsung Gear and have it set to automatically unlock my phone when it's near it. But now I lost the ripple effect. I just get the lock icon with the 4 directional arrow around it.
There's also a slight battery drain. When I updated I didn't lose anything nor have I added any apps. Still trying to determine the cause on this one.
The worse part is I can't use foxfi anymore as it hasn't been updated to work with tmobile note3. Luckily I'm rooted so hopefully I can't find another way like Trev's wifi tethering.
If I could go back I would. I was pretty happy with JB unrooted. But I wanted to see if my signal would get better. I get an extra bar but when I go to see the signal status, it's still -115db when I'm at work.
The only thing I'm enjoying is finally I have root again which I could've done on JB. Being able to use titanium backup and LMT Pie again is awesome. I should've rooted sooner.

Personally, for me, I feel that the KitKat update was beneficial in regards to battery life, and overall stability with ne6. The developers are obviously concentrating their efforts on the latest of updates. I recommend tweaked ROM as the features are endless, and the developer is a higher skilled one, unlike many that around. The boot loader are indeed not locked, and if you update to ne6 the latest KitKat, if you wanted you could back flash to nb4 kit kat, firmware and all, or just flash a nb4 based ROM in normal recovery, both work. Asop ROMs you will have no issue running either, as they are all unified, and are also based on KitKat.. Tethering, if you want the tethering i suggest a ROM, such as tweaked, and you will have that as well. Their are a lot of benefits man to updating, some may disagree, but their updates for a reason, stability, battery, modem, partitions, just an overall better experience. If you want a solid KitKat experience the way touch wiz should have been, with some awesome themes check out Wally's themes in the theme section and go ahead and hit me up for a tweaked alpha, or join the irc channel within dwitherells thread itself. Super helpful people. Willing to lend a hand. Good luck man.

I'm not quite sure what your talking about, but once you are rooted, and your device status is modified you automatically won't get the otas. Not just tweaked, but any ROM, including stock rooted.
It seems beneficial to you since you're using custom rom. I'm on kitkat rooted but knox has not been tripped and still "official" so I'm not gonna put custom rom and break warranty. I can still unroot.
My understanding is even if you have custom recovery you can't go back to 4.3 if your bootloader is upgraded to 4.4.
So for now my recommendation for anyone thinking of upgrading is stick to 4.3. Specially if you are running stock or just rooted.

how can you do this? Im currently stock rooted 4.3 MI7 with knox 0x0. I thought you needed to update the bootloader to flash any 4.4 rom? If not, can I flash a rom using Mobile Odin Pro or safestrap or something without installing a custom recovery or kernel? Or do I pretty much have to trip knox to flash a 4.4 custom rom and keep the 4.3 bootloader?

[Q] SGH T999 and Roms.

I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.

S3 i747 Bricked please help!

Hello. today i hard bricked my galaxy s3 (assuming its hard bricked it wont turn on or go in recovery or download mode)
so here is what i did i live in Jamaica and im using a att model s3 i wanted to update to the latest firmware cause i was stuck on 4.1.1 so i searched the internet and finally found the update for 4.3 tried flashing it thru odin every thing went fine and dandy phone rebooted little green android guy showed up n the green bar was running across the screen...all of a sudden s3 shuts off...and guess what yup now it wont turn on...
i have moderate experience with flashing roms and such I've soft bricked and fixed before
any help before i go out spending money to fix this would be greatly appreciated .

glad to hear your up and running. just remember that you CANNOT downgrade firmware or it will most certainly become a jtag brick.
IMHO the only reason to upgrade firmware is if the ROM i want to flash requires it , and even then i would think twice. just my two cents.:good:

I completely agree with mrrocketdog on this.
Additionally, remaining on the 4.3 bootloaders should not prevent you from running KitKat ROMs. Many of the TouchWiz based KitKat ROMs state in the first post that you can run them on 4.3 firmware, with that caveat that you may need a custom kernel. Two kernels that work are the ones by Ktoonsez and ibuddler. ( ibuddler doesn't have a separate thread, but I linked to the Likewise ROM, which has links in the OP to his kernel. KToonsez has versions for TW and AOSP/CM ROMs in his thread. ) BTW, the ROMs will run on 4.3 but the custom kernel is needed to enable wifi and maybe bluetooth.
In some of the threads that start with saying you must be on the latest firmware there are posts in the thread of people running them while on 4.3 firmware and modem. I have seen people on CM11 and equivalent AOSP ROMs using 4.3 firmware. To play with Lollipop ROMs (5.0) you may be forced into updating past the 4.3 firmware.

[Q] A TW ROM 5.0.2 or 5.1.1 for S4 M919

I was just curious, I am trying out this from The Sickness: TW [ROM] 4.4.4 NH7 Insane Hybrid V6. It runs great and I am liking what I have. I like that it has the call using Wifi like the stock 4.4.4 had when I got the phone last month.
I was just curious if there is any chance a version could be done using either a 5.0.2 or 5.1.1 (although I doubt there is any done yet for 5.1.1) rom for S4 M919 that has the 5.02 os or 5.1.1 if one is available and do the same mods that The Sickness did for the 4.4.4 T-Mobile rom. That way I could be running Lollipop and still have the call using Wifi option. Plus having the sickness mods would be a cool thing. I know he did a sickness lollypop, but that requires a S5 from what I understand, since it is in the S5 section. I did have a S5, but it was Verizon and had a locked bootloader, so even if I still had it, I couldn't have tried his one for the S5.
Now that The sickness no longer has a S4 and announced his retirement from doing roms, I didn't know if anyone else could do something similar.
Thanks in advance.

From what I know WiFi calling is only on T-Mobile roms and there's no lollipop T-Mobile rom.
If you want lollipop you should go on the i9505 threads and use the roms there but they won't have WiFi calling.

From what I know WiFi calling is only on T-Mobile roms and there's no lollipop T-Mobile rom.

Yeah I know. I have been trying out AICP that has 5.1.1 and Valdius (not sure if I got the name right) with 5.1.1. I figured there wouldn't be a rom from T-Mobile with Lollipop for the S4. Just was hoping as I am on their $30 plan with 5GB data, unlimited text, and 100 mins voice. That was why I undid the 5.1.1 version and installed the sickness 4.4.4 version. But got used to some of the features of lollipop that I'm torn on what I want to keep for awhile.
Technically I don't make very many calls with it, I mostly use my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for calls, this S4 is for testing other roms and seeing which one I like the best to play around on. So I guess really whether it has wifi calling or not doesn't really matter.
Course once I get the amount I owe on the S6 edge down enough, I may take advantage of T-Mobiles offer and let them pay off the rest of the edge payments on the phone, port that number to a T-Mobile S6 or S6 edge, and then get to try new roms on a faster S6 or S6 edge.
Thanks for the help.

You're welcome, there's always alternatives like using Google voice which I think uses data instead of your minutes. I'm using Imperium LL rom right now and I can't decide between lollipop and kit kat lol there's things I like about lollipop but I feel like kit kat was faster. It might be that memory leak but I have xposed installed with the fix and I've noticed with xposed installed the battery drains faster.

I guess there is no M919 version of Imperium LL rom? Looks neat, but I don't know if I can flash something for i9505 on a M919. Would be neat to try both Lollipop and Kitkat versions, but I bet I can't on this M919. Bummer. Oh well The Sickness 4.4.4 one works for me and AICP and Validus also works for me.

I have an M919. I've been trying different i9505 roms lately. You should look at the one You want and go on the search keywords in the thread and type SGH-M919 and posts will come up and you'd be able to check to see if it's compatible. So far I've tried Imperium LL and Goldeneye and I just flashed kushan a few minutes ago from the i9505. There are M919 ports of Albe's lollirom and S6 port in the tmobile forums out of those two I only tried S6 port.

I didn't know that. I thought one had to find ones made specifically for the model. I know M919 is jfltetmo, not sure what I9505 is, but I thought I had to find ones specifically for jfltetmo (m919). Good to know about this, now I can expand and try some others. What is the other name for I9505? I figured it starts with jflte, but any other letters after it?
Thanks!!!

I think it's just jflte since the i9505 can also be on att and verizon. It doesn't have to be specific, it just has to be compatible. It's easy to find out by doing the keyword search I mentioned in the thread of the rom. Forgot to mention I'm on NK2, I saw on some roms you have to have NK2 and it hasn't been tested on nh7

Cool. I'll try a keyword search. Anyway My bootloader is NK2 and baseband is NK2. Course with Sickness Insane Hybrid my PDA version is nh7 and CSC Version is nh7.
I downloaded Imperium LL 7.0 and Validus update. there is also a AICP update. I have tried both AICP and Validus and like them both. Can't wait to try Imperium.
I may clear everything and restore the stock rom first, to make sure I don't have a mixture of NK2 and NH7 like I do now. Then try Imperium.

I went completely stock nk2 before I started trying i9505 roms since I started with albe's S6 port and you need to be on nk2 for that to work. I used to be on nh7 too. I'm liking Imperium LL the most right now. I really liked S6 port too but I want to wait until more updates are out and the little bugs are fixed

I've always been on stock nk2 since I bought this phone a month ago. It's just insane hybrid changed those other two to nh7, but the bootloader and modem are still nk2.
I'm installing Imperium now, once the 1st boot gets done I'll set it up and see how it is.
Edit: What is the first prompt for? CSC if I remember? What do I pick there? I see different countries under each of the three letters, but none has US or Unied States, and none matched the NK2 bootloader or modem, so does it matter what I choose for CSC?
I did notice I can use Wifi, but if I turn Wifi off, I cant access anything, the APN lists one entry for T-Mobile and no matter if it is checked or not, I can't get mobile data.
I guess I'll have to restore a twrp backup and write down the setting for Tmobile on there cause that one works, and then re-install this and try to create a APN with those settings.
