[Q] Download installation - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When you down load apk it asks you which program to use and always or just once....mine doesn't ask anymore. I want it to ask, how do I make it again?

How to remove an Android default app setting:
---Navigate to Settings.
---Enter the Apps menu. On some phones it will be called Application Manager or something similar.
---Swipe over to the All apps list.
---Select the app you want to remove as default.
---Tap Clear Defaults.
Now the next time you launch the link/file type that app was associated with, you will be prompted to choose a default app again. Note that you clear all defaults for an app at once. So if you choose Clear Defaults on the browser, you clear it as default for all of the links it was associated with.

I can't find 'Verify and install'

Check under your security settings...
There should be a permission you need to allow to install apps from 3rd party sources.

Download, install and open default app manager lite from playstore and clear defaults
Sent from my SM-T210(R)ocketTab 3.1 $up€[email protected]$T

I have done all of the above short of a factory reset. It still doesn't ask which one to use to install.

[Q] market issues

My market is not showing my apps its go to a white screen and said (your apps that you downloaded will be here)
I've deleted the market updates ,I also logged out of my Gmail account to see if that would fix but no it doesn't
Anyone know what I should do?
Two things
1st - Clear the data and cache from the market app in settings.
2nd - If that doesn't work, search for the market .apk file on here, drop it on your phones, untick "unknown sources" option and reinstall it.
Good luck
I tried that and still nothing this is BS

default app stuck on a system app issues

Hi. I'm using JB ROM AOKP custom IceColdJelly built on 4.1.2. Anyway, on a fresh wipe, had removed /data /system, I had accidentally set 'htmlviewer' as a default to a certain extension. I meant to hit the icon next to it, jota as its a text file type. Anyway, I cleared all defaults in 'all' in manage apps. I still have htmlviewer for the default even though when i click on it in manage apps the 'set defaults' has nothing in it so it can't be clicked etc.
I tried installing new text file apps and even removing htmlviewer in titaniumviewer which results in nothing literally after clicking the file in a file manger. Even tried a couple default app managers which only show nova launcher as a set default app (since its the only thing I have set since clearing all defaults in manage apps). Just seeing if anyone has any idea what to try before I give up and fresh wipe again which takes ages due to all the various apps I install (like 60 games for a start, have games for me and our 2 kids on the phone). It's a fair bit of data to download so I'd prefer just trying to fix the default issue if I can.
Well, a workaround of sorts. Installed a file explorer with an inbuilt file viewer that is viewing the text file types that my 2 existing file explorers were using that htmlviewer as a default. Not perfect but beats the crapnout of fresh installing a new ROM.

[Q] Change default apps??

I know there's a way to clear default,
but is there any app helping me to organize all default apps at once?
I tried Default App Manager, but it only directs me to the page and need me to clear manually.
I want to clear multiple default at once, is that possible?
(I am rooted user)

Default apps not working

Does anyone know which stock system app is associated with the Default app manager. I think I may have removed it when I was debloating because everytime I click on a hyperlink I always hav to choose which app I want to use to open it. I have tried clearing all the set defaut apps and then reset them many times but it does not work.

Mismatch of internal storage

My device is showing 1.02 GB of free space in storage settings. But while installing app from play store, it says only 492 MB of space is available.. what should I do, please help..
It's normal. Play Store keeps ~500 MB free because if they were full your device will not boot
But this was not the case before.. I am using my moto g5 since 2017.
And I am unable to install apps even after having 1.02 GB of free space.

Click to collapse
Clean cache of Google, chrome, YouTube (if you use) and Google play services. You will get atleast more 500mb-1gb of space, now install apps you want.
Sorry but I think you didn't get my problem..
I want to know where is the rest of my device's remaining space..
I completely understand that it reserves ~500 mb of it for booting process or any other system stuff. And if I remove 500 from 1.02 GB, the remaining space should be available for me to use.. but it's not allowing me to use that space.
Tried clearing cache and I always do that but it is not the solution of my problem.
This is also what's happening to me rn. I'm using redmi 5a. I believe the problem have something to do with the play store latest update because when I uninstalled the updates and using the old version the storage is normal & I can download & update my apps, but the old version can't browse the apps in play store like normal because it's outdated. I'm still trying to contact google support. I'm waiting for their response.
I don't know how, but suddenly my storage setting, play store and file manager are showing same amount of free space.. Just noticed this while updating an app.
first of all I wanted to thank Shina from google support team for this.
I skipped some steps bellow (steps 3,4,6,8) and it still worked for me. I hope it worked for you (if you had not solved it yet tho, hehe)
Step 1: Force a server check-in
Go to Settings > Date & time.
If you see "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone," uncheck them.
Manually change the date and time so that they're wrong.
Tap the Home Screen button.
Go back to Settings > Date & time.
Re-check the boxes for "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone."
Step 2: Clear app data for the Play Store and Downloads app
Go to Settings > Apps.
Tap Google Play Store > Storage > Clear data > Ok.
At the top left, tap the Back arrow to go to the "App info" screen.
At the top right, tap More (3 dots) > Uninstall updates > Ok > Ok to restore the app to its factory version.
Note: The Play Store will update automatically within 48 hours. If "Uninstall updates" is dimmed, you can skip this step.
At the top left, tap the Back arrow until you see the Apps list.
Then tap Downloads > Storage > Clear data > Ok.
Note: If you've changed the Google Play Store app settings (content filters, password protection, etc.), you'll need to set them up again.
Step 3: Check that your device supports the Play Store app
If your device isn't on the supported devices list, please contact your device's manufacturer since it might not support the Play Store app.
Step 4: Remove and re-add your Google Account
Note: This may reset settings and remove in-app content. However, your purchases and synced data (Gmail, Google contacts, etc.) are tied to your account and will be available after re-adding your account.
Go to Settings > Accounts > Google.
Tap the name of the account you wish to remove.
Important: Make sure you remember your account password. You'll need it to sign back in to your account.
At the top right, tap More (3 dots) > Remove account > Remove account.
At the top left, tap the Back arrow > Add account > Google.
Sign in to your Google Account.
Step 5: Revert the Play Store app to the previous version.
Go to Settings.
Tap Apps or Application manager (depending on the device).
Tap Google Play Store (depending on the device, you may need to go to All).
Tap on the menu button, and then Uninstall updates.
When prompted to change the Play Store app back to the factory version, tap OK.
Go back to the device's home screen and relaunch the Play Store. Your Play Store app should update to the latest version within a few minutes.
If the Play Store app doesn't update, tap on the menu button from within the app and go to Settings. Scroll down until you see Play Store Version. Tap on that to check for an update.
Step 6: Try the troubleshooting steps in our Help Center
Next, try the troubleshooting steps in our Help Center. If those steps don't fix the problem, continue with the steps below.
Step 7: Clear the app data of Google Play services

Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager.
At the top right, tap More (3 dots) > Show system apps (on Android versions lower than 6.0, go to All instead).
Tap Google Play services.
Note: If you don't see "Google Play services," check Show all system apps and make sure that both Google Play Framework and Google Play Services are enabled. If they aren't enabled, download the Google Play Service from Play Store.
Tap Storage > Clear cache.
Then tap Manage Space > Clear All Data > Ok.
After completing this step, you should check the settings on your apps to see if they're still configured correctly.
