Just untick "Auto-Reboot within odin & flash , then reboot manually power+volume up.

Another thing: I can't use odin because I don't have a computer. There's an app called flashify that installs recoveries but it still only works with 2.6.3.0. Even installing the latest version from goo manager doesn't work.

I tried several different ways of flashing this recovery, and in the end the only way that worked was in odin.

I think I will need to install TWRP with Odin -- goomanager isn't working for me. It SAYS that it has installed TWRP, but every time I try to get into recovery all I get is the standard Android recovery.
My question, please is this: where did you get the tar file for TWRP, and which slot did you use with Odin? Was it the PDA?
Thanks very much
Barbara

I got mine by going to the twrp site, but I admit it wasn't exactly easy to find. You can know you're getting the right version of TWRP if you download CPU-Z from the play store and check the third page that says system; the model name gives you the store citric name you'll look for when you go to the TWRP site, but the link I gave you is for the lt03wifiue .
Have fun!

If your Odin says PDA then you need to get the latest version. There's only one spot you can use in the newest one...

So I did locate tar file for TWRP. USED odin, unchecked the auto reboot option. Success. Appreciate help.

Twrp issues..
Ok,,,, I've Read and Read, I have a galaxy note 2014, 600, wifi only.... Have it rooted with odin, But I cannot get twrp installed. I've tried odin several times to no success.Alos tried gooim or whatever its called. The tablet always goes back to the android recovery... Ive read that it can be done, also that it cant be done. So am i wasting time, or just screwing something up.... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

The easiest way to install twrp is to use goomanager. Hit menu and hit install open recovery

Goo manager doesn't work on our tablet for install of twrp.
Use the link four posts up for the twrp. Also, just check your SOC with CPUz, to make sure it's actually the right version of twrp for your tablet. But Odin is the way to go.

I'm hoping maybe someone could enlighten me how to get TWRP to boot into TWRP. I had CleanRom installed and everything was working with TWRP. Stupid me I thought I could help battery life by doing a Cache and Dalvik Cache wipe. Bonked my P600! I had to ODIN a new firmware, rooted and tried to get TWRP installed. I've tried the ODIN Tar method 2.6.3.1, Tried with a TWRP zip file and Goo Manager to install TWRP and none worked. When I go to recovery I keep getting the Android System Recovery. My head is banging on my desk at the moment. Would anyone have an idea how to get TWRP working on my rooted and now stock P600? I so want to get Clean 2.0 back. :crying::crying::crying::crying:
A big Thanks in advance for the help.
Solved: I'm not sure why but I tried ODIN again and TWRP install. WEIRD

If by that u mean volume, power and home button. No it didn't.I tried booting threw ROM manager and it detects my recovery, but doesn't do anything.
Is there a way to flash a ROM threw download mode without a PC. I remember the Evo was capable of doing it threw bootloader.
Do you want to get root? Or flash a rom?
To boot into recovery it's power+home+vol up

I thought you had to enable root under settings? It has been a while since I've used Cm, but I remember they disabled root access by default . It seems like he can still get into recovery.

I had root access and I'm currently running a 10.2 nightly of cm 4.3 with a few glitches. So I want to flash a 100% working ROM. I can't boot into recovery with any app due to the fact it requires su permission and I have no binaries according to su. I cant get into recovery either using 3 finger method the Samsung logo appears with the blue words on the top left, but it doesn't do anything after that. ROM manager shows my recovery as twrp so I'm in a pickle....lol
And no on turning on root in settings.
Then you need to find a computer to flash recovery again via odin, otherwise flash a rooted rom via odin.

You can use odin to flash recovery and then you can flash the root.zip it should work. But I would use odin to flash to a stock rom first.

You can flash recovery without a computer.
Download the recovery image file, rename it to rec.img
Go into terminal emulator
Code:
su
dd if=/path/to/rec.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Be very careful when typing the second command.

That might be a problem I need to type su and since I have no binaries my terminal emulator won't have su privileges.
Right?

There isn't an option under settings --> developer options for root? At one time, they had didn't options for apps, adb, or both. You would need the both box checked for it to boot into recovery via an app. I haven't used it in a while, so I'm not even sure if they still do it this way.
And it is strange that you can't boot in recovery. Instead of the power off, then hold volume up, home button, and power....have you just tried to reboot the phone and when the screen goes blank hold the volume up and home? I've had luck getting into recovery by that.
Plus, if you are running CM, there should be a reboot option for recovery when you power off. Reboot --> recovery.
Last idea, have you tried to download goo manager from the market? That works well with TWRP.

I tried goo and that didn't work.
Cm does have the reboot options, but it had to be turned on. Developer options doesnt show up under settings, but I remember there was a way to turn it on. I went under "About phone or Device" clicked on everything like 10 times and I forgot which 1 it was, but I unlocked developer options. Turned on reboot menu. Rebooted phone into recovery and although it took a while I got into recovery. Flashed a new rom and I'm back in action.
Thank u guys honestly. I could not have done it without u guys.

I went to cyanogenmods website and ran the installer as directed. That installed cyanogenmod and rooted the device automatically, then you can download and flash any of the other custom ROMs on this site.

Do this
1. Boot into download/bootloader mode.
2. Connect to pc and use odin to flash twrp. Make sure you uncheck reboot and flash twrp in the pda slot.
3. Once flashed pull battery and disconnect from pc.
4. Press vol+ menu power buttons while inserting battery (yes it is difficult but can be done)
5. Now in recovery perform factory reset.
6. Flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145
7. Now reboot it will act/look weird but dont worry this is normal. It will reboot and take a long time to boot.
Now you are on stock mc2 (no knox anymore). Root using cf autoroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33278464
Now use odin once again and flash your recovery again. Now you are rooted and have a custom recovery. Oh and you have a working phone again.

Before I do all of that...I discovered I can boot into TWRP and updated it to the newest version. Then I installed the cyanogen nightly onto the phone. Everything seemed to be working ok except I couldn't get any phone signal but wifi worked. I tried loading the dirty unicornes rom and the same thing happened . I then flashed cm 10.1 and the phone worked for calls but the asop keyboard kept crashing and couldn't login to the wifi network. I tried several installs with factory resets with the same results. If I follow the directions you listed will I be able to install these roms and the phone work for calls or am I missing another piece of the puzzle?

Flash through odin, v2.6.3.3, untick auto reboot before flashing, reboot manually, & then get into recovery volume up + power.
You will get a permanent TWRP.

CF Auto root IS NOT cf auto rooting after 4.4.

Flashed the Columbian 4.4.2 via Odin and went to root it with CF Auto root following all of the instructions, but when I open titanium backup and SUpersu I am told that I dont have the correct binaries installed. Warrantee bit is 1. So I screwed my warrantee and don't even have root to show for it. I have tried the procedure 3 times now with no results. Thanks for any help.

Download TWRP from their website. Use version 2.6.3.3 that's the stable one. When you download, download the IMG.Tar one. Don't unzip it.
Put tablet into download mode and connect to odin. In Odin untick auto reboot, press AP and click the twrp you downloaded and flash.
Then reboot into recovery and flash SU zip

So when I do that, it stays on the Galaxy Note splashscreen forever. I hold down power again and it reboots.
Maybe i have to order of operations wrong. I can start over.
I have the KK update installed, all is working fine.
I need to flash TWRP, ChainFire AutoRoot, and SuperSU.
If I were to start over, I should flash Autoroot with Odin, then TWRP with Odin? Then I should be able to boot into recovery with your instructions and flash the SuperSU zip file in recovery?
Sorry, normally this stuff is easy for me. Not sure why I am struggling so much here.

Now you're confusing me
The first bit of you're post is correct. Autoroot, then Twrp then su zip
When flashing TWRP make sure to untick auto reboot in odin or it probably won't work

That is the issue I think. The version of Odin I am using has Auto Reboot greyed out. Won't let me uncheck it. I am using Odin v3.09.

Have you tried exiting completely and then trying again. Or sometimes you have to add the file in odin first and then you can change it.

I think that this is the issue. Auto Reboot stays greyed out in Odin. Even if I load the TWRP file first. Maybe I need another version of Odin?
---------- Post added at 03:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:46 PM ----------
Using Odin 3.07 I was able to uncheck auto reboot. Once I flashed TWRP, it was just sitting in the download mode screen of course. I held power and it rebooted. Still unable to get into recovery mode.

Did you download 2.6.3.3 version? Also make sure you got the right one lt03wifiue. Power+vol up+home then only release the power button as soon as you see Samsung note screen, the first one
Make sure the file is flashed before rebooting.

I have root access but lack the ability to boot to recovery!

I'm currently running the stock Rom with build E98020h. I have successfully achieved root access and have verified it through several apps, and also have supersu installed and seemingly operating fine. I have tried using the 'g pro kitkat recovery' app to flash the recovery, and also freegee but freegee at the opening screen says my device is unsupported. When i go into rom manager v5.5.3.7 and try install a custom rom or even just tap boot to recovery i get an error at the loading screen with the LG logo and it sits there. Am i doing something wrong or is the 20h update keeping me from being to successfully reach recovery? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Same method worked on my 20g....not sure about 20h

20h may be blocking you off...
You could try using LG Flash Tool to go back to stock 4.1.2 (E98010k) and then using FreeGee to bypass and go from there. But idk if that'll work.

aidenthefirst, or anyone else....
You ever figure out how to load recovery on the 20h update? Id also like to install CWM or TWRP without having to roll back to 20g.
Thanks.

I don't think that's possible. You're going to have to flash back to an older version using lg flash tools. If you need to back up anything like texts and contacts, use G Cloud. If you need game data/other data related to specific apps backed up, use Helium. If you're attached to stock try flashing a stock ROM, it will be very similar to your experience now. That'll ensure you get the latest KitKat and still get stock experience... you can always go AOSP too.
thanks... I was hoping to just not have to Flashtools my phone again =P and since its been a while since I checked the forums I wasnt sure if 20h was sorted out yet or not.

I found the way to do it without having to roll your system back to anything older than 20h. Let me type it all up And make sure I have the proper links and app names and will post in a bit

OK so after you achieve root access on your phone download the apk in the link below. Install it open it and run it. You should now be able to have full recovery access...

This is the link i found to download the app I used on my e98020h to unlock recovery. I hope it works as well for you all as it did for me.

So I'm running into another problem and after a lot of 'googling' I can't find an answer. But running purely stock unrooted and my SD card reads and writes fine. Now that I have rooted and fully obtained recovery access my phone will not recognize much less use it. Any suggestions?

I found this elsewhere trying to unlock my e980 that was on 20h when I got it.
OK so I found that G Pro KK recovery elsewhere and installed it but wasn't sure what to do from there.. Which option did you choose when running it? Flash recovery, reboot, or reboot recovery? I tried to reboot to recovery and I got into a CWM recovery, but at that point wasn't sure if I was really there or if I needed to flash the recovery from there or from the app.
I'm dying to get rid of the stock ROM on this thing but there are more steps involved than my previous devices.
Thanks!

All the APK does as I have found out is 'unlocks' the recovery access. After I ran that app I installed Freegee from the app store and installed the CMW recovery from there just to make sure it all was installed and correctly accessible. at that point you just need to download the ROM that you are intending to install and download it. put the zip somewhere in your directory. boot to recovery wipe the necessary mediums and then install from the app and CWM will take care of the rest. Most of the forum threads that have the links to the ROMs will have full instructions on how to install that certain ROM. I can supply links to some if need be. NOT MY THREADS but ones I found helpful.

installing the ROM isn't an issue for me, it's getting the recovery installed.
What process did you do after starting up the G Pro Recovery app? install recovery, reboot, then run freegee?

Yes. Open and run the G Pro Recovery app, once that is done you need to reboot. Install Freegee and open it. I installed CWM. You can use whatever you want. Then I reboot again, once the phone comes back up I used clockwork mods recovery manager to get in and out of recovery. Also, I pulled my SD card out of the phone prior to rooting as I would lose access to it after I did the process. So just to be safe you might want to do that.

Once you take the update then root your device again you have to do a factory reset on your phone in order to flash a recovery. Currently running E98020I, been there, done that! G Pro KitKat then FreeGee. Mic check 1 2, 1 2

If you just want to install the recovery, get an app call flashify from the play store. Install the app, then download and then flash the twrp .IMG file that you've gotten from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3144369
