Sony Smartwatch 3 launch - Sony Smartwatch 3

Any hints of when the new Sony Smartwatch is coming? I don't wanna dish out $200 to then get a new version a few days later :good:

It will be around November

Oh, too long to wait. Damn. I like new SmartWatch 3, but I want it now.

i dont, i greatly dislike android wears voice command centric control system so i was quite dissapointed when they backtracked and decided to go android wear, id much rather have touch and buttons, shouting at my wrist does not feel right to me, as such ill be getting an SW2 instead

Not everything is voice controlled. I never saw review that even somebody was talking voice commands. With Android Wear you can do much more and there is a lot apps for Android Wear. I'm happy that they put AW into SW3. It's good choice.

just waiting

You can preorder it at the sony website and the delivery date is "starting october 16th".

In Germany you can buy the Sony Smartwatch 3 at the 05.11.14 from a local saturn shop

Hopefully
Hopefully you can buy it on 5th November in Saturn. The Website says: "ready for collection" on 5th November.

Warning Cookoo Watch DO NOT BUY

hey just thought i would let you guys know not to purchase this watch, i bought it and the experience has been horrible!
there web site had showed it would support our phone and a few other androids, guess what happens at launch it now supports Ios ONLY(shifty and shady)
the device is a cool idea and hopefully can be pulled off by another company someday.....but this company is a joke of all jokes first of all they dont have a phone number, email correspondence takes days(i am pretty sure email is instant and its 2012), when i got the item its addressed to someone else in Florida(i am in Minnesota)
needless to say this is a warning for everyone considering this item down the road i honestly think i am out of $150 on this deal because non stop emails to cookoo support and the inventor have got me no where. I purchase just about everything online, have it shipped, and end up with a smile.....this on the other hand has been the worst online purchase i have ever made hoping i can get the word out!
This isn't entirely true.
I supported this watch as a kickstarter project and they did state that they would be supporting Android. While currently they have only released the iOS app, as an early backer I have received plenty of communication as to their progress on the Android app. I have found their service to be efficient and their communication to be prompt.
They currently have a version of the app that works for HTC phones, and are working on making this work for Samsung phones, SPECIFICALLY the Galaxy SIII. Just like everything else, the uniformity of iOS makes development quite easy for it, and like just about everything else, apps are released for iOS before Android. I realize this is a generality, but it's often the case.
They have enlisted the help of recognized developers from this very community and they will have an app for your phone soon.

Wow i wanted to order one. They look really good. In an article they said the watch would work on andrid 4.1. Doesn't it autopair through bluetooth? It needs the app?

There is a beta on the Play Store compatible only with Samsung devices. Would love to see if someone could get it and make it available to everyone. This cookoo team has really done nothing to little to satisfy their promises to develop for Android. Choosing just the S III/S IV is pretty obtuse in my opinion.

My experience has not been anything like that. It was also clear that as a BT 4.0 low energy device it would not be supported until Android or the manufacturers fork of Android supported BT 4.0. That didn't happen until Android 4.3 came out, or earlier on a few select phones. There are all kinds of BT gadgets that have not worked until very recently, if at all.
At the moment as has been pointed out only the Samsung S4 is supported, I've been in contact with the Kickstarter team and had a couple of responses so far. Yes they take a few days to respond - as you can imagine there probably get hundreds if not thousands of emails. So far it sounds like they have a general Android 4.3 app ready but are waiting on something from Google to get it released . I'm not sure what that could be - but I'm starting to wondering if they actually mean that they are waiting for Android 4.4 which might have some BT API bug fixes or something like that. Since Android 4.4 will be rolling out for Nexus devices very soon - within a month? - I have already ordered my device. They have assured me it will work with Android as soon as the app comes out.
With Kickstarter you are investing in the concept - you have to be patient. Some are just looking for money to fund a volume order, some need much more than the money - time too! I have another Kickstarter project that is now delayed from July release to Feb 2014. It sucks because I really wanted the device right now and may have to buy something temporary, but like I said, this is an investment not just a "pre-order" whether you like it or not.
I hope you can be patient and eventually very happy with the watch!
anyone have an APK I can try on the Xperia Z?
i'm deeply regret bought this watch
same problem as you happen on 2012
i've receive defective cookoo watch

I'm guessing some kind of android wear "system". Ear buds, watch (or even glass), and phone. All working together as some kind of digital assistant and entertainment system.
Hmmm....
Google has is preparing to ship out free Moto 360s to everyone who attended this summer’s Google I/O conference. I envy them..

SO PUMPED. But a week is SO FAR AWAY.... I guess I need to find a hobby in the mean time. xD
Nice news, I´m looking forward to reviews about this motorola and the LG one, they look really good.
Do we have a time for the event/keynote? Just want to make sure I'm free!!
same here I want to push the order button as soon as it goes up haha(assuming it goes on sale same day)
What's the chances of being released the same day as announcement ?
TKTech had a story a few hours ago that they confirmed that the Moto G "2" arrived at a certain "Big Box" retailers this past weekend. So I'd say pretty good.
Has anyone got any information on the actual time Motorola are going to be doing this presentation?
It has been a long long time to wait this event.
:good:
does anyone know what time it is expected the event and if will be available a live streaming?
thanx
Who else is pumped for tomorrow ... Can i get a hell yeaaaaaa???????
We are very close to!
Don't get how the event is tomorrow and no one knows what time its at lol

Moto 360 2nd Gen release in early 2015?

Very odd announcement from Lenovo exec about when Motorola would release the 2nd gen of Moto 360, looks to be in early 2015...if this is true, I am hoping they at least fix the crack issue.
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/131...ation-smartwatch-could-arrive-early-next-year
If this is true I guess I will be waiting for the 2nd gen then. I was about to pull the trigger to get a 1st gen.
The f is this they should give us upgrade discount or something we just got this

It's a losing battle keeping up with technology and gadgets.
Although this may be true, I highly doubt it would be as early as January (CES). I mean, this model just went on sale in September. Also, Lenovo officially took over Motorola not even a whole month ago. I would think he probably means first half of 2015, which could mean May or June 2015. But, obviously, this is all speculation.
I was waiting for a moto 360/cognac...may be prudent to wait a little longer until there is more information...it looks like the Motorola group is always looking to improve the models; possibility of a refresh, keeping the same form/shell, changing certain things like ambient sensor, more robust back, etc. Either way, tech always evolves.

I really hope it won't be released too early...I just got mine for barely a month.
This could also be good news in a way.. The more revisions that are released the sooner they will stop selling/producing the original 360. So higher chance if you got the Best buy protection plan, that theyll give you the newer model if yours gets damaged
I dunno, execs make stupid comments like this all the time not recognizing how people will interpret them. They spent something like 2+ years developing this thing, and ran into so many technical limitations they had to use the flat tire look, and now suddenly all of that has been resolved? Has pricing come down in snapdragon processors so much that they can incorporate a new cpu? The industry doesnt just shift like that. My guess is his definition of "2nd gen" is probably something stupid, and is just typical marketing speak from people used to bull****ting and hyping everything all the time.

Very possible. Though, as a device developer myself, when I send out iterations of a current gen though, I am already working on the next iteration whether it be a facelift/retrofit, or a second gen altogether; so from an engineering perspective, it is also possible that they had come up with a solution for ambient light a month after sending final specs for manufacturing the first iteration (which has happened to me similarly). Since other android wear makers were not as limited on budgets as Motorola (word is that Google really didn't properly fund them), they were able to come up with similar sized watches with 'better specs'...if Lenovo budgets them correctly, they might have already had a solution for all of this, but not the money...I really love the design of this watch though, and hopefully there is more tangible information on the second version soon. Even in its current iteration, it is a very compelling purchase; I have not been this interested in a device in a long while.
Will I wait?
I saw yesterday that the second version of the moto 360 may be out soon. This feels like a marketing blunder as I can't be the only person now thinking I'll wait
Meh, if it happens and they improve the cracking back, remove the flat spot on screen, and throw in a speaker I'll probably go for it.
I bet we can get at least $150 for the OG model so upgrade $$ shouldn't be that bad...

If you think at what release date Motorola said for the first version and what was the final date you can then believe we will see the 2nd version in 2016.

Any news?
I think that the news saying that the 2nd gen Moto 360 was more of a unbased rumor. We probably won't hear until August of 2015.
I wonder if this was in reference to the gold and slim band versions? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one off of Amazon but these rumors are making me hold my wallet back.

I think a rumor about a v2 moto 360 is way off. Officially it is out for about 4 months now and its considered to be one of the best (if not THE best) choices among Android Wear smartwatches so there is absolutely no reason for moto to show an early v2 of it. I will probably get it next month or early March after HTC`s event. The weird part is that we know we are getting the old processor, the smaller battery, the flat tire display but we still prefer it over LG R. It is just too beautiful to pass.

Good points.
Yeah, the hardware may be "dated" but it does the job. If that's what Motorola had to do to meet an affordable price point, then kudos to them.
Granted, I'm not a spec whore. All I care about is does it do what I want and is it quality. For the most part, the answer to those questions is "yes", fully realizing that Android Wear is arguably still Beta.

Moto 360 2nd gen release date
can anyone tell me the release date of 2nd gen Moto 360.
According to this article weararena, the smartwatch release this year, but do not give the time frame.
Until I see a link to a reliable source, I don't believe any "I heard from dis guy who knows a guy" posts.
The first gen is still relatively new with long term kinks not yet discovered.

So anyone else considering upgrading?

Just curious if anyone else is getting ready to upgrade now that it appears highly unlikely anyone is going to be able to get android wear 2.0 on the moto 360 and Motorola has already confirmed they won't. Personally, I think those new google "nexus" watch rumors seem really interesting.
Hello
Im waiting for the watch with new snapdragon 2100. Android Wear 2 dont change stuff so much that i cant wait until turn of the year 2016/2017. New coplication is not so big boom. And keyboard in small screen is it also no win.
Mayby new google watch or Moto 360 3gen , mayby Sony rounded smartwatch 4 ?
as of now, my gen 1 moto 360 still does its job. I feel that a change to any other watch would not be a significant upgrade, as it is hard to find a watch that looks both classy and sporty. my wishlist for my next watch would be a better battery and slimmer profile (and maybe more water resistant).
Mine does what I need it to do, like erm tells the time and keeps smart lock on the phone. As well as Google fit works, so no I'm not changing it.
In honesty, unless smartwatch prices drop a lot, I won't be getting another one this one gives up.

Buy Huawei Watch today or wait for Google Watch next year.

I'm the proud owner of a new Google Pixel XL and am looking for a smartwatch to pair it with. I previously had an Apple Watch with my iPhone 7.
In researching the current choices that are available, it looks like this is probably the best one out there and I love the stainless steel/milanese loop band (and current price on Amazon).
The only thing holding me back is that it sounds like Google might actually be making their own watch now to further the "Made By Google" product line.
Just wondering your thoughts on if you think it's a good idea to pull the trigger on the Huawei Watch now or just wait on what 2017 has to offer.
Thanks
PS. Sorry for the buying advice thread. I usually hate these but this is a tough choice.
Supposedly Google will add Android Pay to the next version of Android Wear, but neither the Huawei Watch nor hardly any current watches have NFC to support it. If that interests you, I assume the new Google watch will have NFC.
That said, I don't care about Android Pay and love my Huawei Watch.

Thanks for the reply. My debit card doesn't even support the chip yet so I don't even use Android Pay yet. Maybe it's great but it's not something I feel I'm missing yet.
discovering if you're a 'smartwatch person' asap seems best .. since a used huawei watch on ebay can be had for $130 find that out now and save $200, then be pleasantly surprised when you compare it to Google's offerings next year and discover that you might like your huawei watch more.
