No Mobile Data - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok here is my story. I decided to downgrade my Note 2 I-317 back to 4.1.1 due to wifi issues I was having on 4.3
all was well once I got back to 4.1.1 so I decided to unlock my phone ( For some stupid reason) everything seemed fine the whole night so I thought. The next morning I woke up to not having a mobile connection then I remembered I forgot to pay my Net10 bill. So after reactivating the 3 phones I have the Mobile connection for the 2 other phones worked fine but mine didn't. Not knowing I decided to reupdate my phone again thinking I might have done something wrong trying to unlock it. then I bricked my phone not knowing about the bootloader issue I finaly figured out how to fix that issue but once I got back to 4.1.2 I still have no frigging data.
I need help here what have I done wrong and any insight on how I might fix this problem.............Thx in advance

Try Odin flashing the tz-param file in post #2 here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618447

ok I tried that and it still aint working I really think I messed this thing up when I tried to unlock it when I was on 4.1.1 I think I hit the sha256on instead of off

no matter what apn settings I use will not get me my 4g symbol. I can txt and talk just no data

I really think I turned off my radio or something idk very frustrated

1. Check with Net10 on the off chance they need to reprovision your phone/sim
2. Your APNs should be fine if they were working before, but here's a list of a few options to try jik ... http://androidforums.com/net10/676048-net10-byop-apn-settings.html
3. You could try flashing just the 4.1.1 lj2 modem and try the unlock again .. This might clear your issue if you did choose the wrong option since the unlock involves turning that setting off - uncharted waters here, though. If you do attempt this I recommend you make a efs backup first.

[Q] *HELP!*T-Mobile Galaxy S II Network Problem

OK guys i'm a complete noob here at XDA (registered yesterday) but i'm getting really desperate and confused and since i've seen XDA is such a great community i thought i'd give it a shot...
My GSII had been running BeastMOD ROM II v3.0 for about a month now and it worked like a dream but about 3 days ago i turned off my phone and then turned it back on a minute later and I HAD NO NETWORK!! Now, that i recall i didn't do anything to cause this. I called t-mobile and went through all their troubleshooting, no luck. I flashed BeastMOD ROM II v4.2, no luck. Re-flashed BMOD 3.0, no luck. I noticed i don't get ping to my network, I have no IMEI number(i get null/null), and no baseband version(unknown). I'm really worried and hopefully you guys can help me some suggestions ASAP as i haven't had network in three days.
restore a back up of your stock if you still have it.
and this will only get me back to stock and not undo root or will it? will try
Here's what happens. I try to do my first stock ROM restore and it says
"Checking MD5 sums...
MD5 mismatch!" <--Whats wrong? I'm currently doing a restore on a backup three hours after that one which i'm not sure which one it is (maybe the first backup after i installed BMOD 3.0) but hopefully it will do something.

Hey thanx for that last link but the freakin person that made that method just bailed on me after his method screwed with my phone. I have stock now but i have a problem where my phone keeps rebooting until it gets network and even after it finds network and gets its IMEI and Baseband version back, that "fix" doesn't let me use data and for some actions the phone says the SIM card is not ready or available. and when i turn off the phone and back on it keeps rebooting until it finds network like i said. I don't know what the EFS is but that could be something that is making the phone malfunction. Please! Someone help!
i had almost the same problem.
My IMEI is still there, but it just won't connect to any network! All of a sudden, I woke up and it wont connect!
I'm getting a replacement sent to me from tmobile. weird.

[Q] Band Handover/voice network issues

So I have been waiting patiently for the 4.3 update to roll out to me OTA with hopes that it would fix my issues but my phone has been saying download interrupted and so I have gone back to completely stock and triangle away to get my device status back to normal but it still wont let me download. When looking around for other possible causes I saw that my build number is JRO03L.I747UCDLK3 which comes up as a build number for a nexus 7, the correct build number for my att should be JRO03C. I have no idea how it got that way but I am wondering if the person who bricked it might have put the wrong version of the bootloader or some other part of the firmware on and it somehow didn't brick but is detecting a conflict and not letting me OTA. Or that is what is causing my cell network issues as well. Wanting input from a a few devs as I am not 100% sure what the first part of the build number represents.
Ok guys and girl, I am having a really weird issue with my Att Gs3 that I wanted to see if anyone could help with. To start off a little bit of background. I Hard bricked my s3 in August, sent it for tag and got it back working and stock with no issues. All I did was root the phone for fear of messing it up again but it was running all stock without problems for over a month since the unbrick. About 3 weeks ago I went out of town within the state but a ways away, I was talking on the phone with a co-worker right before leaving town. At some point that evening I get a a text from my wife asking why I was ignoring her calls, I had never received them and according to my phone was in the middle of prime 4g lte zone in San Antonio but I was apparently only receiving that lte signal and the phone was not switching to the voice network on 4g to make or receive calls, I was even able to voice chat with my wife but I couldn't just call her normally. After returning home I was still unable to make or receive calls unless it was right after a restart and I had to try about 15 times, so I called att and tried all of their bs which didn't make a difference at all. Looking around on the internet I found the number that you can put in to get into service mode and switched it to gsm or wcdma only and voila I could make calls again. The only problem with that being that I travel within a city for work and move from 4g to 3g to edge all the time but if I have it set for wcdma only then I have no signal and have to take the time to pull up service mode to switch back and forth. So I tried going back to completely stock again by resetting/ formatting all and flashing the stock rom via odin, my issue persisted so I also decided to flash synergy rom (which I was running prior to the hard brick) and then intergalactic because I saw the fewest problems with it to no avail. I have flashed each stock modem new and old which made no difference at all. Today I was messing around in service mode and found an area that was called handover, in that subsection you have the option for checking the phones ability to switch from gsm to wcdma and back as well as to hspa, when I select any of those options I get the message "temporary block due to build e" or " temporary block code".
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about what the possible problem could be, imei, modem hardware, or a stubborn stuck modem firmware setting.
I was also wondering if anyone had any experience with figuring out how to re-enable handover because that is where I feel my problem is, either through adb or any programs that let me force change the settings, I would also be happy if someone knew how to turn of only LTE and have both gsm and wcdma on at the same time.
Any help would be much appreciated, I have tried everything I know how to do, but am to the point where I am forced to look at new hardware because my wife is pregnant and I really needs to be able to get a hold of me any time.

if you have CM recovery or TWRP you can go back, wipe everything even twice could help, then flash a stock rom reboot and see what happens
if that doesnt work go back to odin and install stock firmware 4.1.2 from Samsung but again you have to wipe data/factory reset
3rd if that doesnt work, try to restore your EFS folder/files using this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725839
that link has everything, how to fix it, anything you need to know
BUY a new phone or use a different phone if all the options above fail

The backup restore/fix imei and data restore tools link doesn't go anywhere, does anyone have a link to the restore tool? The only version I can find is for the non us version of the s3.
I did at least use the tool for the 9300 to find out that I have some 000 for s/n and other numbers (see attachment)
is there a patch out for us gs3's to fix this like there is for the i9300?

Even fix it, so plz hang in there........will report back later on
Thanks a bunch, I am still trying all kinds of stuff but I feel pretty certain that the problem lies with a messed up efs and I don't think I have a backup unless doing a nandroid covers that as well, which I am not seeing that it does. Any further help is appreciated, is this something that a local cell repair shop can typically fix or is this a possible new phone situation?

this is the software/programme i used to back-up, recover or even fix my EFS files (if they are corrupt and can be used) NV items reader writer
type it on google and pretty sure you will find something , try different links and again am sure you will find a download
have you tried flashing the new 4.3 stock firmware and modem follow this link for everything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498233 or you can wait for AT&T to release the official 4.3 firmware and that will be 100% satified to be stable and will fix all your EFS/IMEI problems FOR GOOD
i have the NV items reader writer software that can fix your problems but i dont know how i can share it with you without breaking any rules
ULTIMATE/final solution send it to MOBILETECHVIDEOS and will fix it like its nothing, take it to samsung and have to play some ball, or BUY A NEW PHONE
tried kernels (idont think it will make any difference) but its good to check
I have tried all the other versions but will try the 4.3 what's the name of that software so I can try and find it or of you have drop box you could pm me the info and get it to me that way . In the meantime I found an fusion 2 for 38 bucks from att so I can get calls for the time being.

no signal after flashing rom

i have a samsung galaxy s3, ive been rooted for a long time and flashing roms all the time. well i flashed a rom just now and i have no signal, not sure if i burned out the radio (not sure if thats possible, but it also said to insert sim card while it was already inserted), but i dont understand how that would happen. the sim card works in another phone that im using now, so its not the sim card thats causing the issue. my carrier is at&t, and no signal showing, not data or cell (wifi still works, but thats a different story). has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it? im guessing modem flashing, but not entirely sure. can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

The first thing to troubleshoot you should do is flash back to a rooted stock rom and make sure the data is working there. If so this will rule out any sort of hardware problem. You didn't say whether or not you did but you can also try fully wiping the phone (dalvik/cache, system, and data), re-download the rom incase you had a bad one the first time and reflash. Other than that check that maybe check the apn settings.
Yup I ended up doing that last night..im back on the stock root injected rom. So im still rooted and network now works! So im glad. How would I flash a rom without losing the network this time?

Now that you have flashed back to stock a full wipe has been done in the process. At this point all you can do is flash it and see, but as i said i would redownload if you plan on using whatever rom it was you mentioned in the OP. I would also do a full nandroid backup to save the pain of using odin incase it doesn't work. I imagine the problem was with lingering files/fragments from multiple flashes that were causing the problem, in any case whatever the problem happened to be it was software related.
K will do. Its just weird because the md5 matched and everything..but I will for sure download the rom and gapps again. Thanks for the tips!

well, i finally got the service to work after flashing a rom. it still remains a mystery to me tho, i used to always use the illusion rom everyday, for months. i decide to flash the same exact one but no service, i download it a couple more times and still no service after flashing about 3 or 4 times. i tried a completely different rom and the service is active. i dont understand why and cant figure out what is so different this time hah. o well, im just glad its all working now even though its with a different rom. thanks for the help guys!
ok, im back =[
i was using the carbon rom with no problems, it was working great, but just a half hour ago i was listening to music and texting (i always do this), and then phone just turned off. I tried to reboot it but it wont! it always shuts off while booting. i made it to CWM, but it turns off while in CWM. i also made it to download mode, which led me to assume that the phone is not bricked, but it doesnt stay on download mode, it just turns off randomly. i figured maybe it was battery, so i tried another, and no change! does anyone know what the issue is? i cant figure out how to keep the phone ON, or why its not staying on.
btw, i got it to boot completely just once, and it was acting up still. any ideas? please help
Thanks in advance

T999L issues

so i bought a T999l a few weeks ago had it unlocked, rooted and activated with my existing t-mobile account. For some reason my 4G never worked with them and after several calls they said because my phone was modified they couldn't help me basically. I started with some of the roms from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308514 but ended up going back to stock or prob trying to go back to stock because it still says its modified in status of phone. so i was back to 4.1.2 with uvamb7 kernel. I ended up trying sim cards from different carriers and found out that 4g works with at&t sim cards. so the other day i joined aio and finally had 4glte for the first time on this phone. As the days go by though i started noticing it wasnt keeping 4g or 4g lte when i was moving around. As a matter of fact i have to force it to go 4g or lte by either restarting and getting lucky or by using *#2263# and switching sometimes several times from only lte and gsm to automatic or all lte basebands (which gives me lte but i cant make calls or receive calls apparently) and then switching to automatic. Basically if i get lucky and its getting 4glte on automatic it will be fine until i move to a area where there is no lte then its gone until i force it to go lte again even if i get into a area that has lte/4g. Its like its not automatically detecting its in a 4g/lte area, it just stays on edge until i force it. I then tried the 4.3 rom at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48399478. I sort of got it working but i think i might have been using the wrong kernel because whenever i restart the phone it doesnt load past the galaxy sIII splash screen. If i dont restart however it works but same issue i have to force it to detect when its in a 4g or lte area. So since that wasn't working too well i went back to the stock 4.1.2 setup. So im thinking is this an issue with my antenna or something? I'm still learning this phone so any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

i found a t-moblile 4.3 firmware update last night and flashed it using odin. Seems like its not rooted anymore since i'm getting the stock recovery now. I assume wipe cache partition is the same thing right? so i did that and restarted the phone. 4g lte came right up. I make a call and it drops to 4g which is fine considering before it would drop all my data during a call. Here is the thing though after the call it shows full 4g for a couple seconds then no bars, nothing. No data no network and it will consistently do this . im starting to think this phone is possessed
Stop flashing stuff. Odin to stock (4.3 if you have ever flashed 4.3 via odin, 4.1.2 otherwise) and bring it in.
Also, make sure you use the right firmware, or you will hard brick. If you have never flashed 4.3 via Odin, use MB7. If you have flashed 4.3 via Odin, use MK4.
No amount of flashing random stuff will fix your nv data.

I did flash MK4 and i bought this phone off ebay. I don't have a warranty with it. Where exactly am i bringing it in to?
If you have the t999L it has warranty... Hasn't been out long enough for warranty to run out
Bring it in to your carrier (tmo?) And have them reprovision it. It sounds like bad nv data, and unless you have a good backup, the carrier is the only one that can fix that.

I have the same problem, I paid 15 dollars to the unlockpros.com to remotely unlock my T999L. they did unlock it but now 4g data in t mobile is gone, it freeces, on aTT I get 4G but it goes on and off.
I spoke to them and they tried to fix it remotely, the 4g finally appeared again on t mobile network but then after restart same problem again, no 4G data on t mobile,
does anyone has a full NV data backup that I can use to restore?
will a NV backup from another gallaxy 3 work on mines??
hope someone can help.
Don't use anyone else's nv data, major problems if they turn their phone on ever, and legal issues.
Just Odin the root66 mb7 full restore. That will put you to 100% stock, but with root. You can then use triangle a way to reset the flash counter and modified status, then bring it in to tmo. Make sure to tell them not to update you, or you are stuck with the new bootloader. They might update you anyway "for your convenience", just FYI.

Anybody ever have issues with apps? I first had an issue with the stock messages app not allowing me to send out texts to a single person. Been having this issue for about 2 months. Have been in touch with T-Mobile repeatedly and they reset the signals and everything each time to no avail. Last rep I spoke with said to bring it in to a T-Mo store and get them to change out the SIM (in case that was the issue) and get them to do a back-up & reset. That too did not help. Eventually I downloaded the Google Messaging app and through that I'm able to send out normal person to person texts again but not through the stock app.
I've also got issues with apps having updated versions yet the updates aren't available in Google Play Store for me to download. For example, on June 27th, NCP Mobile came out with version 1.8, but it's still not showing. I've been in touch with the National Consumer Panel, and they say as long as I'm running Android 4.0 or higher (actually running 4.3, rooted- stock ROM) I should see the update available.
I've also been experiencing issues with Perk apps (namely Perk Browser and Perk Search & Win) not allowing me to sign in via Facebook or with email and password. Password reset links almost never get sent. The 2 times they did finally send me a reset link it directs me to the Perk homepage also on which I cannot sign in. I'm in touch with them regarding these issues too.
The last app (as of right now) that I am experiencing problems with is CSI: Crime Scene. The app doesn't allow me to connect to facebook to play with friends like I do when I'm on facebook.

HELP! Having a bunch of connectivity issues.

Hey guys, i'm having a bunch of connectivity issues, all revolving around cell service. WiFi works greats. First issue is that text message get sent and received sporadically(meaning sometimes i send texts and they send right away, while other times they fail and require a few resends). Second issue is incoming calls not reaching my device(doesn't even ring on my phone) and going straight to voicemail after 2 rings/outgoings calls not ringing at all. Last and hopefully least, data seems to drop or hang on upload after a few minutes of use. Now all these issues occur sporadically and at seemingly random times, but it seems like once one of these 3 issues occur, they all get triggered.
I've checked and reset APN settings and they seem correct, although instead of "Not Set" for the username, there is "none" and there is a four digit password that has been censored by *, and for Server there is one digit *.
I've called T-MO customer service and their suggestion to solving it was a Master Reset, which is essentially a Factory Reset including wiping the Internal SD card. I've yet to do this, but i have tried a regular Factory Reset from TWRP, but the issue still persists. Not sure what to do at this point, was considering ODIN'ing back to stock(4.1.1 root66 to be exact).
If it matters, I'm running Dandroid 4.1.2, with DLJA baseband and stock kernel. Sometimes rebooting or flipping airplane mode on/off fixes it for a couple more minutes.
Any insight or suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I had this problem on my Nexus 5 and it seems to be sorted out now. But I'd highly recommend ODINing to the latest stock if you change your baseband radio and you're still experiencing the same issue. (I'm also a T-Mobile customer)
Also, I recommend heading to the market and downloading Offline SIM APN Database to verify you have the entirely correct APN.
Hey, thanks for the swift reply. Firstly, i checked the offline sim database and my APN settings match those, so hopefully APN settings are out of the question. And by latest, are you referring to 4.3? Also, i don't think i've ever flashed a radio/modem of any kind, and my baseband has been DLJA since i first bought this phone ~1 year ago.
I believe so that 4.3 is latest.
Before flashing 4.3, make sure you Sim unlock the phone first.
It sounds to me like its probably one of the following causing your issues....
Bad SIM card
Network problems on T-Mobile's end
Corrupted firmware or data
Or just part of the actual hardware going bad
(Listed what I think is most likely first)
Go to a T-Mobile store and ask an employee if they can test your device with their sim, or better yet, since its random ask if they can just replace yours.
Call T-Mobile to ask if there are any known problems in your area. If not ask if they can reset your account.
Flashing firmware with Odin (not mobile odin) can help determine if it may be a hw or sw problem. I do recommend factory resetting with stock recovery though. This actually formats /data, where custom recoveries just selectively delete things.
If its still giving problems after all of the above, its a pretty good chance some piece of hw has gone bad.
Thanks the replies guys, I'll report back with some results. Just wanna add, I've tried my sister's S4 LTE Sim on my phone and the issue still seems to occur regardless.

Funny that I came across this. I was experiencing (seemingly) the exact same problem very recently. I even picked up a new SIM card, but that didn't fix it. I was beginning to fear it was hardware related. But like Doc suggested, I used ODIN to flash stock fw, and all is well again. It appears that my problem was related to data corruption. Thought I'd post to confirm returning to stock via ODIN fixed the issue for me - in case it happens to anyone else.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I'm still experiencing this problem. May I ask which Android version you ODIN'd? If 4.3, MJC or NC2? I've ODIN'd two firmwares, 4.1.1 LJA and 4.1.2 MD5. I've held back on doing 4.3 because I know after that, there is no way back. But if that fixes the issue, I'm all in. Thanks!

I used UVDLJA 4.1.1, and so far I'm free of the connection issue. I feel the same as you... don't want to flash 4.3 without being able to downgrade. I picked the LJA fw because that's what my phone shipped with, and the radio/bootloader combo always worked well for me. Sorry it hasn't worked for you! Maybe a stupid question, but did you factory reset after ODIN flashing?
Out of curiosity, did the issue resurface while you were still running stock fw? Or had you changed ROMs?

Yeah, I've factory reset from the stock recovery and had everything wiped. Well first the issue initiallly surfaced on the Dandroid 4.1.2 ROM, but I had ran that ROM for close to a year without any issues, then all of a sudden it happened. I ODINd the 4.1.1 and factory reset and at first I thought it worked but a few minutes later, the problem resurfaced, so to answer your question, yeah it still happened on stock fw. I may try it again just in case I take it in to a T-Mobile store.

Well since you ruled out the SIM card already, the 2nd part I mentioned would be my next suspect. (Network problems on T-Mobile's end. )
Is there any way you can get maybe 5-10 miles away from your usual locations and test there? (Remember to reboot after making it to a new location). If its still giving problems there, its very unlikely to be a tower problem. (Still possible, but very unlikely. ) Also, call T-Mobile support and ask if they can perform a reset on your account. (Can't remember what they call it exactly, but they should be able to take some sort of similar action on your account from their end.)
Finally, if you are still running 4.1.2 or 4.1.1 firmware, you can try flashing the different modems I have in my baseband thread. (Stickied in development). I can't remember right now if the 4.3 modems will work on the older firmware, but its ok to try them all. Once you update to 4.3 you can no longer use the older modems.
If, after all of that, you still are having trouble, you can pretty much rule out network problems. It'd still be a possibility, but only a very unlikely one.
After this, you might want to seriously consider flashing the MJC firmware, then NC2 if necessary. If none of that is helping I don't think there will be much more you can really do....
