My review of the amFilm Moto G screen protector - Moto G Accessories

Just received my amFilm screen protectors and have to say they are one of the best plastic screen guards I've used to date. Here is what the company has to say on their amazon page: (then my opinions)
Invisible, superior quality, 3-layer PET film that will not distort the High Definition screen clarity/natural color pallette
Protects screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: (3) Screen Protectors, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze Card, Installation Manual
The package I received looks very professional and was undamaged during transit thanks to the bubble wrap envelope they used to send it in. :good:

Inside the packaging, I found the usual items, (squeegee card, microfiber cloth) plus a couple things usually not found with screen protectors, like detailed installation instructions (2 methods described) and dust removal/hinge stickers. Nice touch.
I prefer using the side hinge method of application, but I'm sure vertical application is just as good.
After applying the protector, I went about looking closely at it in different light sources, swiping and tapping my brains out. I have to say that after the initial "break-in" (getting skin oil worked in) I really couldn't tell the difference between the protector and real glass. It's very smooth and hard. Touch response was not affected at all by it, at least I couldn't tell any difference. There is no rainbow effect when viewed closely in the light, and as a matter of fact, it looks like clear glass.
Screen coverage is just about edge to edge, so even without a case, you really can't tell it's on there. Cutouts are perfectly aligned.
It is somewhat oleophobic, but I have yet to see one that is 100% anti skin oil. But good nonetheless. If I didn't tell you I had a screen protector on my phone, you'd be hard pressed to notice it. This is simply the best one I've used so far, and they now have a loyal customer. And, as of this writing, they are only $1.00 for 3 (includes shipping) http://www.amazon.com/amFilm-Invisi...ywords=amfilm+premium+screen+protector+moto+g
I defy you to find a better deal. Great product, awesome price. I would pay $1 per sheet for these, easily. Look no further if you need screen protectors for your G. amFilm makes screen protectors for other phones too.
I would show you how it looks on my phone, but it's invisible!

You won't regret it. Just take your time and do it right.
A friend of mine just commented how much like glass it looks and feels like. :good:

This isn't a comparison thread. If you want to talk about that particular screen protector, start a new thread.

I bought one the other day. $1 total.
How is it installed? With water or?

Dry install

Just ordered mine of Amazon. Good price and looks really good!

Got mine today!! I ordered it the 13th and Amazon said it was going to come either the 20th or 25th. Pretty damn good.
The installation is very easy, though you have to have stickers ready when doing step 1-2 because otherwise keeping the protector in "place" is sort of hard because its a little slippery. But once you put on the stickers it's very easy to just simply put it on.
The screen quality is great. I don't even notice it's on. Great protector for the price. I did the Hinge Installation by the way. It's very easy. If you don't get it, watch the video they supply in with the QR code in the instruction manual.

I just received my amFilm screen protectors today, and they're pretty good, but I don't have much to compare them to. I've only put screen protectors on two of my phones before. The only thing I'll have to get used to is the fact that swiping from the side, I catch on the edge of the screen protector. I use Sidebar Pro, with my trigger set at the middle of the right edge of the screen. Swiping to open the bar, I catch on the protector, but not badly enough to disrupt what I'm doing. Other than that, so far, so good.

Hi,
your review reads so awesome that I tried to purchase these protectors. However I live in Germany and they do not ship to countries outside the US.
I would like to ask you for a favour: would someone buy these protectors (pref. with prime for free shipping) and then forward them to be in Germany? Can someone guess how much this would be? I would really appreciate this.
Screen protectors here cost about 9-11 USD and I cannot find any reviews.

They are no longer $1.00 on amazon, and now go for $4.95. With shipping, they would be very expensive. You're better off just buying what's available in Germany.

So they don't get unresponsive? I've had some on my Pico which did.

after removing the crap screen protector that came with my otterbox commuter case, which had an insane amount of glare and made the screen so unresponsive it was frustrating, this HD clear screen protector by amfilm truly delivers as op stated. there is now zero glare and the touch responsiveness is pin point accurate! I'm one very satisfied customer. thank you for the recommendation sir.

Tell how is that protector am also thinking to buy it
in my opinion that kind of protectors are necessary for our phones. i've been using for 4 months. and there are just 2 3 small scratches. i can recommend it.
Yeah I haven't found a good screen protector for the phone, but I've been using mine for half a year and it's pretty flawless -- plus, the phones regularly go for $60-$70 bucks.
would putting a screen protector over a semi-scratched screen help hide the scratches at all?
no it wont//
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS SCREEN GAURD AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
I bought this thing from flipkart for 199 INR and I must say its a complete waste of money.
I ripped it of my phone, cut it to pieces and then burnt it!
Here's why,
1.after applying the guard, the screen clarity reduces and text is blurred, especially while browsing
2.the cover says that the guard is reusable and washable but it not! Almost half the gum wears off!!
3.top left started to peel off after day one itself! (And I got it applied by a guy who works at a store where they sell and apply these kind of things so I'm sure that its been perfectly applied)
Amzers covers maybe good (I own one and am pretty satisfied ) but their screen guards suck!
So Buy another screen guard but not this one! Take another phones awesome screen guard and cut it to size for the O1 for all I care but just don't buy this one

this one's also has a matte finish...that's what makes it oily touch resistant...
ScreenGuard + Silicon Jelly case
I ordered the AMZER screenguard from Flipkart few weeks back..
Although in the reviews some of em mentioned that first few days it will be difficult to use touch since its fresh but frankly i liked the screen. Its responsive and dust proof. I use it along with the silicon jelly case and its perfect..
I have these same protectors and they really scratch up fast.
Got from Flipkart yesterday. I was satisfied with the initial appearance of screen. But after I opened the Message app, I was shocked to see the screen look like pixelized crystals. When it was on a white screen, it would look like billions of pixels all showing the colors of the rainbow..........and it was annoying.
This is the only drawback of Matte screen protector.
For all those who are praising this, are you satisfied with browsing and messaging (has lot of white colors displayed that makes rainbow effect) ?

I'm using it. It really sucks on white screen!!!
I ended up buying a large quantity of screen protectors from Amazon at a price of less than $1 for 5, I'm fairly satisfied with them and at the price point it was hard to pass up. I do prefer the matte ones, in spite of the refraction on white screens but won't need to purchase any screen protectors for quite a while.

Nillkin LG Nexus 5 Anti-Explosion Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Anti-Explosion!!!!
i've used one of their thin cases before and liked the quality, especially given the cheap price. haven't had any experience with any of their screen protectors, but i'm hoping their quality extends to these new glass screen protectors.
just placed an order. will update once i've installed it.
$14.89 + FS from DX-BOX

Sounds interesting... a similar product can be the Orzly tempered glass, same thickness (0.3 mm).
The problem is that sellers are from China, and that means looong delivery time (for Europe, al least 1 month or two)

As far as experience tells, no orders I've done from China (and I purchased a lot) have been shipped in less than a month... At least, here in Italy. (I live in Milan).
I just bought the Orzly alternative... my guess is these glass screen protectors are more or less equivalent.
I'm scared however as I think the problems we all read about the Spigen product could also be noticeable on these glass protections.
Let me explain that: it's for sure a Spigen's fault, as probably these protectors have been cut on the basis of a CAD/CAM project, before getting in touch with the phone itself. No one could imagine that Nexus 5 front glass could present a slight irregularity before getting the phone in hand.
I wonder then if:
- Nillkin
- Orzly
- (who's next?)
products will overcome the problem.
It's all in the adhesive component, but I doubt they'll use a better silicon than Spigen.
However, for a bit more that 10 EUR including shipping in 3/4 businness days... it's quite worth it

X-PROTECTIONS Nexus 5 Premium Tempered Glass - Lowest price - Review Updated

http://www.xprotections.com/products/Google_Nexus_5_Screen_Protector_Premium_Tempered_Glass.htm
$3.15 + $4 shipping = $7.15. Still the lowest price for tempered glass I've ever seen. They also have for another model like Samsung S5 or iPhone 5S.
No review yet. Pretty much new company. From China of course. (not surpised when it come to this price). Look around and OMG, price start at $2. I know this may be crap but seriously, this is so cheap, dirt cheap.
Some infos I found from this company:
http://www.gcoupon.com/view/companies/248074/Xprotections.html
From Mar 2014.
Short review:
The package was fine. The glass have oleophobic coating for sure. This glass fit very well in my screen without any bubble, not like a Nillkin. Just remove my Nillkin and apply without any issues. For someone who said the nexus 5 screen is a hole's problem, not the Nillkin glass, I am highly doubt it. In fact, I may got a lemon with this Nillkin. Anyway, the screen is perfect fit and so smooth. I am so satisfied.
The quality is solid. Below is a picture of this glass's thickness. I cannot say much about it's quality now as I just received it today, will update the review after few weeks using. But first impression was good and nothing to complain
It came with cleaning kit like other tempered glass.
The shipping speed was fast. It's China Post Air Mail but only 9 days (include weekend).
I can say with this price range this thing is amazing value. Highly recommend.
Here are some picture when I open the package. Sorry I don't have a camera to make a vid when apply it, but this thing is pretty similar like Nillkin glass. I will get more photo when I borrow one from my bro.

I got a Nillkin too, but after about 10 times applied and re-applied my screen still had a big hole in the bottom (not affect the screen view), which is so annoying for me so I got this to replace. If this sucks I lost 7 bucks and apply the Nillkin back. After all it's just 7 bucks. I suggest you guys get this as a backup. Well, Nillkin was originally China product but it's proved to be good brand until now. With this unbeatable price this one may worth a try.
And btw, Paypal accepted.

You do know that the bubble at the bottom of the screen is because the Nexus 5 screen is not 100% flat right? It is not because of the Nillkin screen protector. It happens with all of the tempered glass screen protectors. You just need to really rub it out hard or use a small clamp with soft cloth between the clamp and screen.
Just do a search here and you'll see pretty much everyone having this problem regardless of which screen protector they are using.

I do. Just got an e-mail from them say my glass had been shipped. Will do a review whenever I got it.
Usually these cheap screen protectors come without any oleophobic coating on it which makes the screen/glass very tough to glide your finger over.

There are plenty of sub-$5 glass screen protectors on eBay. Don't think you can go wrong with any. Although some have three cutouts instead of two...

I actually have ordered screen protectors from this website for my cousins' iphone 5s and galaxy s5 and they say that the glass seems to be holding up pretty well. I actually plan on ordering one as well just to replace my nillikin just in case it breaks. How are the edges? Are the rounded just like the nillikin? Just wondering because that's the only way for me to get my case to fit properly.

Agree to this it is not an issue with the protector but rather the nexus screen itself as the tempered glass does not stick at the bottom we need to press to apply it properly whereas in some nexus it just fit smooth

As far as I know. But, I'm sure once Spigen releases theirs, all the copy cats will be releasing their versions short after. But if you want to wait for at least another month, then go for it lol. I'm happy with my official ones that resist fingerprints.
it says on the box 28% thinner.. Thinner than what exactly? Its their first release!
Just got an email from Spigen today. They Amazon page said shipping on 30 September, and I ordered it. But Spigen says they won't be shipping until mid-October. They gave me a code for 30% of anything from their store for my being inconvenienced.
Spigen is a trustworthy brand, you can count on them to get it right. I've purchased tempered glass protectors as well as their cases for the past couple years, and many others will vouch for them. As for the whole 28% thinner thing its them marketing themselves as the thinnest glass protection available.
zagg has a screen protector for 14.99 just in case anybody wanted something less expensive...i found one for 75 cents! ehe
Just ordered one (the Spigen, not the Zagg). Supposedly ships 10/15.
I currently have the official Moto one, so I'll be sure to let everyone know how it compares.

Woot! Just got an email from Amazon, saying that my Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM has shipped! (Still shows in-stock date of 10/15 on Amazon, though.)

Is it possible to review the protector when you get it? I still can't decide which one to get.
Yes, I'll be reviewing it, and comparing it to the official Moto protector, which is what I have now.
I'm patiently waiting for reviews. I've got tempered glass on all my devices. I've got the Spigen in my Amazon cart. Just waiting to pull the trigger.

same here! waiting for a real life review
Okay, here's my short (yeah, right) and sweet review:
I ordered the Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM product from Amazon. I got the email that it shipped on 10/9, and I got the product via USPS mail on 10/16, so it definitely ships via budget (i..e. slow) shipping. However, since it wasn't even supposed to ship until 10/15, I was pretty happy.

The packaging is pretty nice, and contains everything needed to protect the product, and the tools needed to install it.
From the picture, you can see it comes with cleaning wipes, squeegee, a card containing a serial number, little dust-removal stickers, instructions, and the protector itself. The first step of the instructions say to wipe the screen with "the micro-fiber cloth," but one wasn't included. I'm not sure if one was supposed to be there or not, but luckily, I have my own.
The protector went on super easy, although I have to say, it's not as easy as you'd think getting one small circle completely centered on another. I'm not ashamed to admit that it took a couple tries. Fortunately, the protector has two protective films, one for the front and one for the back, and the front one has a couple tabs you can kind of use to hold it, so that you can see the entire circle. That front one also allows you to squeegee the bubbles out (although I didn't really have any), and press down on the protector without fear of scratching anything.
But I'm sure all that you really want to know is, "How does it feel?" Well... it's thick. Noticeably thick. It supposedly has a curved upper ridge so that your fingers will just slide right over the edge, but if it does, it either doesn't work, or I'd hate to see how it'd feel without it. My fingers definitely feel that ridge every time I'm swiping from the extreme edge.
That's not to say that it's annoying, but it does take some getting used to. My official Moto protector didn't seem to get cut quite right, and it had a spot about 45 degrees long (in a 360 degree circle) where the edge could literally be seen when looking straight down. Even at that spot, which is the only place I could really feel it, it still wasn't nearly as noticeable as this Spigen protector.
On the flip side, I had my Moto protector for about 3 weeks, and already ended up with a couple scratches on it. I have a feeling that this Spigen protector will be a bit harder to scratch (although I haven't had it long enough to really say), so there's your trade-off.
Get past the edge though, and this protector definitely feels like the original glass. I thought my Moto protector was smooth, and it may certainly be in my head, but this one does feel a bit smoother. However, it also seems to be a bit stickier in certain situations, such as when your finger is slightly wet... as it would with the original glass.
Fingerprints don't seem to be an issue, and just wipe away with my shirt, but I can definitely say that they wiped away a bit easier on the Moto protector. I think that's because the Moto protector wasn't quite as clear, and hid the post-wipe smudges a bit better. Speaking of clarity... wow, this Spigen is clear. When I turn my 360 to a relatively sharp angle to my eyes, the Moto protector would seem to "fog" just a bit, making it really stand out. Not so with the Spigen. No matter the angle, you can see the edge, but otherwise, it's completely invisible. The clarity really just doesn't compare.
Here are a couple pictures that show the thickness of the two protectors. Sorry, I didn't have my SLR with its macro lens available, so I took these with my phone, but I think you can still tell the difference. See if you can tell which one is which.
Spoiler:
The bottom one is the Spigen.
To summarize, I'd say that the Spigen is definitely the better protector, compared to the Official Moto protector. Its only strike is that it is noticeably thick, and you will definitely catch that edge from time to time when swiping. However, it's certainly clearer, and since the Moto protector is relatively soft plastic, I'm sure the Spigen is more durable and scratch resistant (although, I can't say for certain on that last item).
I think you'd be happy with either protector, and the cost difference is very small between the two kits, making them very comparable. However, you do get two Moto protectors for the $15 list price, vs one Spigen protector for the $20-ish Amazon price, making the Moto the better deal on paper. Factor in clarity and durability though, and the Spigen is definitely a contender.
Thanks for the review! When I applied the $15 one I didn't notice much difference in clarity, but maybe I didn't have my glasses on. The thing is, we generally don't apply screen protectors to watches. The two reasons why I applied one are 1) Protecting the resale value. And 2) the finger print is definitely way less noticeable on the protector than the original glass.
Did you notice a difference in the oleophobic coating department?

Thanks for the review. I have been using the Spigen Glas.Tr for my Galaxy S4 and Note 3, never look back at plastic screen protectors ever since! I have gotten the Moto Care Kit, but the Spigen will definitely be in the next Moto 360 accessories list for me.
Oh a quick one, what about screen sensitivity, especially at the edge when you swipe, say Wear Mini Launcher? Was it sensitive enough when you pull the drawer from the edge?

Tempered glass screen protectors?

Has anyone found a good tempered glass screen protector that both covers the whole face of the phone but leaves the proximity sensor open? Or have you all found that having a glass protector over the proximity sensor did not affect it at all? I am all over Amazon comparing all kinds of protectors but haven't found "the one" yet.

But it doesn't cover the bottom area of the front. I have looked at this one by Orzly but it covers the proximity sensor.

i've got the "ELTD Premium Tempered Glass", the amazon-SIN should be B00VSMMV7O at least for germany and uk . beware that the product image is wrong, as there is no hole for the camera but for the speaker and sensors at the left. and the "fingerprint resistant" feature doesn't work for me
i'll be purchasing one in a few days and make a review video and provide pics. I'm still deciding which one to order

Looking forward to it.
I just bought this one from amazon ASUS zenfone 2 ZE550ML / ZE551ML Glass Screen protector, VSTN ® Ultra-thin 9H Hardness High Quality HD clear Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector which will be delivered Thursday 5/21..
From the pic and reviews it looks to have the cutout for the proximity sensor & rounded edges.. There isn't a cutout for the front camera which it ok w/me since i don't take selfies and how can it really affect the camera anyhow..
There is a warning post on the zentalk forums saying you don't want a screen protector covering the proximity sensor since it can drop calls and such > [Display / Touch Panel] Screen protector may cause display error when answering the call
Just bought the phone this morning and got the ASUS official PET protector so it has something (plus they are cheap nuff), they should be delivered later today.. then I will swap it for the glass one when it comes in.
Not really a fan of TG. I think GG3 is enough for my zf2.. Got 1 phone for more than a year already.. No scratches w/ just Dragon Tail equipped.
I ordered this one...mainly because I wanted it here in time for the phone...
ASUS Zenfone 2 5.5 Inch Screen Protectors,APLUS(TM) Tempered Glass Screen Protectors 9h Hardness, 2.5d Rounded Edges, 0.33mm Thickness
Whether it turns out to be any good, we shall see. I just need something until it becomes clear which ones are good.
I have this one on mine:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V037LLC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Despite not covering the bottom I have found it to be very nice. No hole for the front camera was not an issue.
I ordered this from aliexpress.com. Unable to post link in this reply.

Seller is zero enterprise limited.
Cut out for the sensor available. Will not cover the whole front though.
Unfortunately I can't fit it yet because I am still waiting for the Zf2 to reach me.
Material feels like standard TG protectors. And it reached me pretty fast (Singapore) - less than two weeks. Was expecting some 35 days lead time.

I’m getting a glass screen protector from amfilm. I had theirs on my old LG G3, and it was a pretty good glass screen protector. For this one, I’m expecting a similar experience. Should be arriving in the mail over the weekend. I’ll comment back next week with my thoughts.
I'm having a hard time finding any tempered glass that will ship to Canada & that isn't going to take a month from China. Any leads?
Best I've found is ebay item # 281601192776 (can't post links yet)
but that's still minimum 2 wks shipping for me. My phones here tmrw!
It might be worth the wait... it cost much lesser on eBay and aliexpress, mines arrived in 11 days.
I bought the Nillkin H9+ tempered glass, it feels very smooth, but kinda thick (still very comfy). The glass took forever to apply due of my buttery fingers [emoji16] ,I should've gone to the mall and pay those cell phone boutique guys to do it for me.
Here's a pic of it.

Faster shipping will cost much more than the item itself. And I suggest to get a couple if you are certain the item is the correct one and the price is right. Usually shipping cost the same whether single or up to a certain quantity.
I have had experience where the seller didn't pack it properly and it arrived broken. But they sent a replacement. Well the item costs only $3 but free shipping so I can expect a longer wait. Trade off..

Since I had a couple of $5 gift cards I had earned from Bing I went ahead and ordered this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XONLRSY/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It doesn't cover the bottom but it does have a cutout for the proximity sensor. I will keep looking for one that covers it all, though.
Is it really possible to cover all as in the whole front? In all the various sets that I have seen, the bottom part below the buttons appear to be slightly higher.

My case is Nillkin and I would say it's 98% covered, the remaining gap is the width of a paper, barely noticeable.
@chooks06 I did the same thing mate, bought 2 just in case hehe.
