There is no risk in rooting if you do the process properly or it may brick your phone. Also,Rooting may risk you to lose your warranty. Have a research on how to root, see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294734
and this is must : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160671
See this list of bloatwares and use your brains to decide which can be removed and not : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315904

I hope we can work together to describe, prioritize and root out the really bad bloatware actors at least until some custom roms come along.
Any noticeable difference? Or just peace of mind?

I removed a bunch of stuff too. For me its not a speed or battery problem , but clutter. I can't stand all the clutter of so many useless apps. I haven't noticed and changes though.
AFter I made a complete with Titanium backup, when I tried to remove bloatware like 'AllShare', it said :
"If you uninstall the wrong package, you may need to reinstall from your ROM"
What does it mean? If I really removed a wrong package, why can't I reinstall it from the Titanium backup?
Thanks!
LOL...everybody wants to remove it..i want it back...at least the possibility to sync my contact and messages..noone posted bloatware to download and add to the rom?
Here is the list of TB backups I have (just meaning I removed it and still have a record that it was stock):

Help!!!! Alarm is useless! It just doesn't go off!!!

Hi. I have a gt7100 and the stock alarm is abysmal. I have to use the stock because it is the only one that works past my lock screen.
Just to clarify - It doesn't activate itself, so It fails to come on. Hence I've gotten up very late on a couple of occasions.
It is definitely on, and is set to repeat every week....
It does work if you set it for 1 minute later and just wait, but if you leave it, something happens which makes it not go off.
Somebody was saying something about programs that could cause this, but I don't have ANY lock screen widgets..... Is that even possible? I don't have widget locker installed.
The programs/services that were running last night / shown by Wheres my droid power (app). This was a long 2 minutes.

Please help as I just got my old iPhone 4 to use as my alarm (Airplane Mode). Really want to get this problem fixed. Can't stand using the iPhone as my alarm.
Also my phone is on stock Touch Wiz 4.1.1 - Rooted. And I use Nova Launcher Prime 2.0
It's understandable why some people just stick with basic iPhones now!
Has nobody experienced this sort of issue? Alarm has always gone off?

[Q] My eMail won't sync (yes, I have the sync box checked)

Can anybody tell me why my eMail won't sync? In the email app itself, the box has a green check mark next to auto-sync. I can check and refresh and it does sync then, but I won't automatically receive messages
HOWEVER, if I go to settings>accounts>email, it says "sync is disabled." If I hit "sync all" or try to individually sync it, it won't stay enabled. This leads me to believe one the of the following programs or a combination of a couple are responsible for it not doing what it's supposed to.

Those are the the programs I froze using Titanium back-up....well, most of them. I left Google talk unfrozen (so my talk-to-text works), Samsung TTS, Google Wallet and one or two others that I can't immediately recall. I got that list from this thread that's dead and nobody looks at or replies to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913428
Anybody know how to fix this? I tried individually turning one on that appeared to be obvious, like Samsung sync adapter, and trying to sync and it still stays disabled. I need my emails
Enterprise is the only of those that have anything to do with email, unfreeze those and try again...
Didn't work...it still does the same thing as far as me hitting the sync all button and each account still says sync is disabled. It retrieves messages at that moment, but it doesn't gather the messages unless I manually check or sync. I even restarted my phone.
Remove the account, then readd it and try it... if it still don't work I don't have a clue... is it a gmail account and what app?
Is the auto sync option on the phone itself tired on?
Transmitted with a portable device using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
It's a work email account using imap and the other is a school account, also imap.
It worked fine before I clean wiped my phone. I clean wiped it because it was getting super slow and unresponsive. I backed up my programs obviously and re-installed them via ti back-up. However, I didn't freeze NEARLY as many programs until I found that thread. Phone runs awesome now, but that's really the only gripe I have.
Again, through the email client, it says autosync is on. however, through setting>accounts>email it won't enable the sync. It will sync momentarily, but then turn back off/disable itself. It won't stay enabled.
Is it only the email sync that's turning off our all sync? If it is all sync, it might be one of the frozen apps that's causing the sync to turn off.

It's only the email sync. I know the other syncs work cause if I sync my Facebook, I still get those notifications.
Have you tried clearing data + cache, removing your account, and then adding it again?

[Q] Disable Startup Processes/Applications for Battery's-sake

Hey everyone,
A couple of inquiries...
Startup Processes/Applications
I am looking for a list of processes/applications that have descriptions so I can determine if I can disable them or not. I can't seen to find anything useful and wondered if there was anything out there. I am currently using Startup Manager (Free) to disable the apps. Any ideas?
I am sticking with the default TMo ROM for now. I don't see a big need to move. I have it configured how I was, for now, and I'd rather not do that all over again. The only option I would consider is a move to a bare bones TMo ROM or something like that with most of the bloat out of there.
Freshly Rooted... sort of
I've got my TMo Samsung Galaxy S3 w/ Android 4.3 freshly rooted yesterday. The process wasn't as smooth as I would have liked but for the most part it worked. I had downloaded CF-Auto-Root and use ODIN to transfer the CF-Auto-Root-d2tmo-d2tmo-sght999.tar.md5 file and using SuperUser.zip. I had run into KNOX issues and these were only fixed until after I allowed "Unknown Sources" (under Settings > More > Security) to install the superuser.apk manually to bypass KNOX. Rebooting, SuperUser still doesn't start with the 'stopped' message. So then I have to go through the process again to allow "Unknown Sources" and reinstall the APK. Any ideas?
Also, I've been able to allow some apps to work, whilst others don't seem to work. For instance, I've tried to use Boot Animation * Root to change the Boot Animation, that seems to have an issue changing the file(s). Also, in ES File Explorer, I can't change system\bin\gsiff_daemon to help lower the Android OS process to use less power. Any ideas?
This is an awesome community and I'm glad to start being a part of it.
Thanks,
Johnathan
Thus far I'm down to about 1% drain an hour, what I've done...
Hey guys,
So, I've been continuing to research and change things to get the battery drain lessened. I am about down to 1% drain per hour if left alone. This is what I've done, any further suggestions would be appreciated:
Turned down the display to the lowest setting unless I needed it higher.
Turned off any Live Wallpapers... just using a black background.
With all the stuff on the screen, I can't see it anyway.
CPU Tuner Profiles
Screen On
Governor = Full Speed
Max Freq = 1512
Min Freq = 594 (Now my phone is more responsive when using it.)
All other settings = leave unchanged
Screen Off
Governor = Save Battery
Max Freq = 486
Min Freq = 486 (One option higher than the lowest setting (384) so it wakes up quicker.)
All other settings = leave unchanged
WifiScheduler
Power On Daily = 0100
Power Off Daily = 0700
This allows radio comms drain to be lessened since it is using local WiFi. Plus any updates are downloaded.

As an added benefit, it also charges faster.
My next step is to see if I can reduce the power used by the attenae to reduce consumption there as well.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Thanks,
Johnathan
Perhaps you should go through De-Bloating. De-Bloat is a process where you remove manufacturer added unnecessory programs and recover space and Battery life.
Here's one of several Guides on programs that you don't need to keep.
Once the un-needed programs are removed, you can remove from startup among those remaining.

Greenify works wonders for me, both on my S3 and my Xoom. It's not your average battery saving app, it "hibernates" apps that you choose when they're not active, instead of keeping them in memory, which helps keep your phone fast over time, as well as saving battery. After just a couple hours, my Xoom used to be bogged down and it would turn into a battery hog, and I thought it was just because of how old it is. But since I installed Greenify, it's almost as fast as the day I got it, and the battery life is even better than that. Also, I use the BootManager Xposed mod to disable start-up apps, dunno how it compares to the app you're using, but you might wanna check it out. Good luck.
Edit: Also, as far as root goes, I believe there's 5 or 6 different apps you have to remove/freeze to stop Knox. You might try flashing a de-Knoxed stock ROM, that'd almost surely get rid of your root problems.
Doing Better.
Hey everyone,
As a continual work to improve battery life on my SGS3, I've decided to uninstall as many apps can I can on my rooted stock rom. Who knew that by removing extra Google apps would improve battery life!

I also have an app that will auto-kill apps when I turn the phone screen on. Don't remember which one it is though, I think it is Android Tuner Free... I also use Startup Manager Free to disable apps during startup.
About that application reference, where are the APKs stored and if you simply remove them using a file explorer, does that stop it from running and 'uninstall' it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35103966&postcount=2
With the above done, my phone boots from start to finish in 58 seconds (According to Startup Manager Free and that's down by about 28 seconds from previous reboots using the same app.) and it is much more responsive as one would expect with less running in the background.
Updated my 2nd post list of Turned Off apps.
Could anyone let me know which of the below items are safe to disable. The below are the pre-installed applications:

Contacts Storage
Gallery
Google Contacts Sync
Google One Time Init.

Safe apps to debloat SPH-L520

Since there is no custom recovery available for the sprint s4 mini, I looked for rooting method achieved that. But I could not find a list of apps safe to remove.
Has anyone seen, or know where to find a way to get this phone running as close to bare minimum as possible?

I have not rooted my S4 mini SGH-I257M [Canadian edition] so i cannot delete any of the built in apps, but the phone does have an option to Disable most of them. This is the same as the TurnedOff on other editions. I have disabled these ...
