Yes, it is. Device to device communication. Turn it off and it will disappear.

means ur phone is 69ing with another one. LOL ...
nah, it means that ur NFC is in sharing mode. the normal NFC icon is read only mode.

There's no switch to turnit off. Even a the build prop edit wouldnt remove it. I was gonna try to remove the icons from the systemui.

Seriously, you dont have a switch for NFC in settings? It's under share and connect in settings if I recall correctly. You might want to look there as I think you are overcomplicating this simply because you haven't found where the option to turn it off is. I would think that you'd be more focused on how to turn it off as that is much simpler than actually removing the whole icon

Completely disable/hide TouchWiz notification toggles?

Does anyone know how to completely hide or disable the built-in TouchWiz notification toggles? I'm on Verizon, and would like to use a third-party toggle set (like Widgetsoid) to customize the notification area, but there doesn't seem to be any built-in way to adjust what's being displayed there.
Any help would be really appreciated - thanks!
Bump. I'd like this as well..

3G/2G on N5110?

I was playing around with ES Task Manager and under Power Optimizer there is a setting to turn off 3G/2G (see pic). Does anyone have an explanation for what that is? Could having it enabled negatively impact battery life?

Sorry wrong pic. Here's the correct one.

Is it a default toggle for the program? It may not do anything cuz the 5110 isnt cellular data capable.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I'm well aware that 5110 is not cellular capable. You raise a good point though that it may just be a default toggle. Whenever I disable it comes right back on so it probably doesn't do anything. Just thought I would ask to see if anyone had seen mention of it anywhere else.

Framework-res.apk in system/framework controls the lock screen... Depends on the ROM as to what you need to do to change it.

GB27 Epic 4g touch 4.1.2 I guess that means GingerBread? Would like to change the name to the present carrier if there are no adverse effects,Says Sprint on the lockscreen.

No that is Jelly Bean. What carrier?
Debranding
Thanks for clearing that up.This was a Sprint device-had it flashed/rooted to the pageplus mvno. Not an expert by any means regarding those processes.

Well if you flash Amy of the custom ROMs they pretty much all have the carrier text removed from the lock screen. This is mine... I'll have to get back to you on changing it tho cuz it's been so long since I removed it and I'm at work right now.

You can change the lockscreen text with xposed mod xblast... And a few other mods for xposed come to think of it lol,...

Turn off Proximity Sensor. Most likely in Phone Settings... Haven't been on AOSP in a minute, but it used to be an option.

Couldn't find phone settings. I checked every section of the options menu and there was nothing about proximity sensors. I guess I'll just have to deal with it. Thank.

I meant that I couldn't find it anywhere in the options xD. I'd go back to touchWiz but I always get terrible battery life. So each rom has a different drawback for me xD

What happened to the "Subscribe to Forum" button?

I don't see it anywhere on the website? Is this no longer possible? I just want my favorite forums to show up in the XDA app on my phone so it's easier to read my stuff.

It's there, actually you've to go to either Q&A section or Roms & kernel section or discussion part, you'll get an option to subscribe to that part, if you go to : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8, you won't find the subscribe button, you have to choose those parts then subscribe.
