[Q] Safe bloat ware/apks to uninstall? - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Greetings member, hope your all well...
Just downloaded the stock firemware again on the phone. Running good, and good to see my internal sd and RAM not full yet. Spent a while trying to find accurate info'/links on apks/system app/bloats etc that can be safety removed.... No such luck yet.
If any one has link/info' on safe apks/system app/bloats to remove it would be nice to know, and delete them soon..
Found this page, it's not very detailed and I reckon I would need some of the apks listed http://www.droidviews.com/list-of-b...ng-galaxy-devices-that-can-be-safely-removed/
I downloaded nobloat free yesterday, says it can move the aps to ex ds them re install later. I tried, can not re install on the apks I deleted already
Any info' on safe bloat ware removal would be great. Thanks guys n ' gals

Just mean't the info' is about the weather demon apk, saw a few bits on google about the battery consumption on it, that's all. Was a 'lazy' cut n paste..
Hey DMJoh, I have deleted the windy weather apk amonst others apks, though can see the apk for deleting the stockwall live and the news wall live paper. Know where these 2 apk are 'hidden' by any chance? There not on any root uninstaller list.
Thanks for any info',

You can use any Root File Explorer apps, i personally prefer Xplore, but it depends on your mindset.. Okay, whatever, see you can find these apks in /Root/system/app. If it is there, just simply delete it. If you want a backup copy move it to some other location, say External SD.
But understand removing live wallpaper picker may sometime creates FC. But am not sure about that, see to it.

I think the apk is livewallpaper picker something like that, am not sure, search a bit in dat folder.. Also see /Root/system/priv-app. But you should be careful deleting files in that folder. Sorry i cant exactly remember the name of those apks, am not on stock now!
There is an apk called SecWallpaperChooser.apk, its the app which chooses wallpaper, not live walls, so dont delete it,
You need superuser access that you can enable in Configuration menu of Xplore.

Applications Safe To Remove

If you find applications which are safe to remove from the ROM, please post them here, along with what functionality is lost, including which "app" as it shows in the drawer, gets removed.
I will try to compile a big list in uniform format later on. Please only post if you have actually tested it.

what sort of functionality loss this you notice? Can you please tell us, i'm planing to get rid of most of stock apps when i get the phone but like to know what will be affected.
So.
Being a new android user, I messed around with my phone without a full understanding of what would happen if i uninstalled a core application. I assumed incorrectly that Titanium Backup would allow me to reinstall applications, and then uninstalled the stock clock application thinking that it was one of the many clock widgets.
Could someone upload their stock Clock application apk here, or advise me as to how I can restore the stock clock without having to flash the original ROM?
Do you mean this apk?
i'm no expert either but if its the one you deleted then pushing it back via adb should do the trick.
Here are some I'm not sure about (some seem obvious) and would like clarification on what they do and if they're ok to remove:

Anyway to remove the Agenda widget? Can't find that anywhere in Titanium...
I think its part of one of the calendar listings. One is the set of widgets and one is the calendar app. Whatever one doesn't have "open" available when you click on it is the set of Widgets.

Sorry this might sound stupid, but how do you remove the default apps (eg Yahoo finance)
I have a rooted, Galaxy S2 on generic firmware (initially O2 branded). I have root explorer installed

Removing stock apks

Will anybody offer expert advice regarding the pros and cons of uninstalling the following apks in Note 2.If doing so, will it anyway improve the performance? The apks are listed below.
All share cast, All share cast Dongle spl, All share play, All share service, Bubbles, ChatON, Choco EU Kor, Deep sea, Flipboard, Game Hub, Google Play Books, Google Play Magazines, Google+, Group Play, Luminous dots, Phasebeam, Picasa Uploader, Polaris Viewer, Ripple wall, Rose EU Kor, Samsung Apps, Samsung AppsUNA2, Talk, Windy weather, Yahoo Finance , Yahoo News, Google Play Music & Chrome.
Waiting with thanks in advance..
I don't think removing all these will make your device fly
If any battery monitor showing any of these application draining juice then you can remove/disable.
Truly speaking i have all these and neither of it even records 0.1% juice at end of the day unless i have used that application.
Now if you saying about RAM, Android itself have inbuilt LMK (low memory killing)mechanism, whenever it needs RAM, it will remove unused application from background.
If still you needs more RAM (Cosmetically) you can find option in development option in setting to limit application number in background, though i can't say weather it will be helpful to save juice or raise performance.

Instead of removing these, use Titanium Backup (you must be rooted) or similar to freeze them instead. Why? Sometimes you need them, and when you do you'll wish you hadn't uninstalled them completely. Also, a lot of the built-in application reside in the system partition, so removing them isn't going to get you any more storage space. What you really want to do is stop them from loading into RAM and hogging space if you don't use them at all. Freezing (i.e., disabling) them should do this. At the very least they won't run in the background and eat battery.
Also, some other apps/system services may link to these and if you uninstall them suddenly the system stops working the way it should (be especially careful of Samsung apps). When that happens you may need them to get the system back to where it should be. Unfreezing is a lot easier than trying to find them online or in a backup.
Finally -- before you do anything, backup, backup, backup.

Well I remove quite a bit out of my system/app folder and I see my android system battery usage drop significantly during the day, so I can't say it won't help as long as you don't use those items.
However all the things you listed are OK to remove, but I do recommend making a backup of the app folder at least. Ideally do a whole nandroid backup first.
When removing them, be sure to delete the apk and the odex file for the respected apk.
There's also alot more you can delete without losing much on the phone besides NFC which I never use anyway.
Lol i remove all system apps from samsung (except the snote, calendar etc.,) so far everything is fine

[Q] Zooper Widget Problems

So I just bought zooper widget pro and I'm not sure if I'm missing something or what but I've tried adding a couple different music widgets and it seems that they don't work... I've tried apollo and google play music apps and neither work... Am I missing a setting somewhere or something? Appreciate the help!

For a lot of the Zooper and UCCW widgets you need this app to be able to use the Music widgets:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.batescorp.notificationmediacontrols.alpha.

You can try to return to the store and require the exchange for the new one.
APK X Original APP
Hello there! I'm from Brazil.
I always loved to customize my Galaxy S3 home screen. I have always been using UCCW.
I have always heard about Zooper Widget, but have never tried. Then I did it... And realiazed how I was wasting time with UCCW.
Zooper is, by far, much more customizable, it is easier and faster as well.
So I decided to purchase the Pro version, but a few days ago, the banks here in Brazil were not approving the credit card international purchases in Google Play Store, because the prices were in Reais (Brazil's currency), and people were not been warned that they would be charged with some taxes.
I was really lookin forward to try the Zooper Widget Pro version. Then, for the fisrt time in my 'android life', I downloaded an APK file. And installed it...
I loved Zooper. I created so many widgets by myself... It is amazing..
Now, the credit card issue I told you above is gone. I can finally purchase the Pro version then.
Would somebody please tell me what should I do, so I won't loose all the widgets I created with the APK file I've downloaded and installed??
I tried Google Play Store, but it shows that Zooper Widget Pro is already installed.
Should I uninstall it, delete the APK, and then buy the app??
How can I restore all my widgets then??
That's it. I hope someone can help me with that.
PS: sorry if I don't make myself clear, my english is not that good.

My suggestion would be to backup each widget, uninstall the apk, buy the play store version and then import all your widgets back. I know the app can do auto-backups but doing it also manually guarantees a backup.
There should be a save in the upper-right hand corner of each widget config.
Thanks man... I will try that...
thanks, really helpfull

Disabling system apps and bloatware list anyone?

Im looking for a list of standard system apps I can disable along with any bloatware (other than the obvious Sprint apps) that I can disable. A list of recommendations or the like wound be great if anyone can point me in the right direction please.

Unzip the rom.. Go through system /apps & system/priv-apps you can pretty much tell what is what. Remove the folders you don't want (deodexed roms}
Then re zip the rom and voila!
Place the removed folders in corresponding folders on your pc so you know what you took out.
Of course you can use titanium backup to freeze apps (recommended ) and if all is well uninstall them and in the future you'll know what is safe to remove.
Great info ,thanxs

Doing the process now, once I've flashed the modified ROM and it works I'll post details. FYI, this is my first time but it seems straightforward enough.
I just took the sourced link and edited his script file to match ours it worked flawless
note: it does get rid of SFinder and QConnect bar
So edit that out if you don't want That removed.

Edit to your liking and make a zip with it if anyone wants i can make one for you. just send me back the edited code
Found this here: so credit to this guyfor the script he has zips but its for the international phone.

awesome can't wait!
let us know how the phones battery is.
ive seen the phone battery perform worse than Lollipop, but to early to say, as ive just reflashed and wiped everything, plus had pulled the battery a few times, so it needs calibration, overall seems more responsive, the new animations are really nice, GoodLock is the cherry on the cake, makes i tfeel like a brand new phone.
My list is a cocktail of the note 4 lollipop list above and some s7 and s7e , s6 bloatware list , since the core remains the same , figured it should work and it seems like it has .
This is the list that i have used, all seems well so far , just trying to have the email app configured, it isnt picking up settings, rest all seems fine, pls note when rebuilding the zip, leave compression to support old devices, if you use tooo high a compression , the phone would not be able to unpack, i had this issue the first time around.

My good sir, you are the real MVP. Many thanks for your hard work! Just unzipped tx's PC1 stock deodexed rom and deleting the bloatware to try it out. So after deleting, I just compress and flash with TWRP?
