LED Control (Charging, Notifications) with Light Flow and Xposed Modules [Root] - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
after quite a lot of time of trying and testing I want to share my experience with you.
I use a Z1 Compact with rooted stock firmware 14.2.A.1.114 (Android 4.3) and I wanted to control the notification LED in the way that CyanogenMod allows it:
Disable charging notification
Enable custom colors for different Apps
Switch off the LED completely at night
My solution is the combination of two Xposed Modules with the App Light Flow.
First, install the Xposed Framework. To get it to work on your Xperia smartphone, you can use the Xperia version which works very well.
To switch off charging notifications, download and activate the module Disable Charging Led.
Notification colours can be modified by the module Xposed LED Control.
Xposed LED Control unfortunately does not allow silent hours and is limited to five modified notifications in the free version.
This is where the App Light Flow comes in. It comes with many personalization options like silent hours. I needed to install Xposed LED Control because without it, I was not able to control the LED with Light Flow.
Switch on the root mode in Light Flow (general settings) and configure the notifications and sleep settings as desired.
If you are unsure if all the instructions described above will work on your phone, you can try the free version Light Flow Lite.
Light Flow did not work for me without Xposed LED Control. I think this is not so obvious and so I hope this will help anyone with the same problem, maybe even with other Xperia phones.

Perhaps you mean "charging" instead of "loading" ...

I did the same thing. Downloaded Xposed LED control and Light Flow, but I have the following issue. When I receive a text message for example, the LED flashes in the stock colour (a sort of pink). Then I turn on the display without unlocking and the LED changes into the colour I customized. When I turn it off it stays that colour. This kind of defies the process of changing the colour, as I need to turn in the screen anyway.
Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?

Have you switched off the notification light in the text message app? Or maybe you want to configure the color in Xposed LED Control? I was unfortunately not able to reproduce this issue.

Yes, I can confirm that too. I switched on Stamina mode a few days ago for testing purpose and I got problems with Light Flow, too. So, if you really need to use Stamina, you are limited to the functionality of Xposed LED Control.

Same problems on my Z1c.
Stamina is on and then the custom-color flashes once and then the default violett light.
Lightflow, light manager or xposed led control, all the same problem

I think we'll have to wait until Sony fixes LED notifications in Stamina mode. Other models have this problem as well. I switched off Stamina completely as Greenify is sufficient for me to freeze battery draining apps in standby.

For me LightFlow work without the help of the module only need to disable your Stamina completely impossible job because I am quite removed Stamina.

it is work good :fingers-crossed:

is there any app to change blinking time when stamina is on ? i don;t want to chagne color only what i need is faster led blinking ...

I currently use GravityBox [KK] to disable the charging LED.
For those who don't use Stamina because the LED does not work: There is the Xposed Module Xperia Stamina LED that works like a charm.

Hi
Does anybody know how to get the LED notification light to work through whatsapp? (I mean without using a 3rd party applicaiton). There is an option in whatsapp to have the LED blink, but I cant manage to get it to work. Any ideas?

What color did you select? Mine is set to green and works fine.
I selected green as well. Also tried a few other colours but still no luck.
Do do you have popup notifications enabled in whatsapp by any chance?

No. Disabled.
Is Whatsapp the only app that's having trouble controlling the LED of your gnex?
Activate and setup in app settings>notifications

@OP Are you sure the 'Pulse Notification' setting is checked to work?
(Settings > Display > Pulse Notification)
Can't think of anything else, my whatsapp led blinks green on notification just fine.
Yeah, pulse notification in the phones settings menu is enabled. I'm using light flow now to control my led which works fine. For some reason I just could not get whatsapp to blink the LED itself. So I went the 3rd party route.
Thanks for the help
hello, i'm using lightfow on AOKP black bean and generally it's work good
i noticed 've the same problem, no led notification from whatsapp...
i am using light flow lite for notifications (no whatsapp support), maybe it is causing this problem?

you can try reinstalling whatsapp or emailing them to report an issue
EDIT: Not sure if this matters but I have the Whatsapp version from the market (version 2.8.4771) but on their own website the version number available for android is Version 2.8.4923
http://www.whatsapp.com/android/
Not sure what's that all about but you could try both and see if one works.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood you. Yes thats something that I also thought of - whatsapp not having access to the LED because Lightflow has 'taken control' of the LED. However to test this theory, I uninstalled Light Flow, but still could not manage to get whatsapp to blink the LED by itself.

Why don't you use the LED Notification build in AOPK? Settings -> Rom Control -> LED Control

My Whatsapp doesn't blink the led either. It did a while ago I know for sure. It has just stopped functioning and I can't get it to work again. Not that important to me though.
Notification LED
Is it possible to use Light Flow Lite and have stock LED notifications work too?
ie. so whatsapp notification LED works too because both Light Flow and default LED settings are on

lightflow doesn't work if you have stamina mode on. Turn it off and it will work.

Light flow vs 4.3

After disabling notifications for light flow, the status bar icon is gone, but the LED doesnt work normally now. Normally i set to LED shinning colour when plugged in but now after i disabled the notification, the LED doesnt light up anymore. Anybody else having similar problems?
Im guessing its due to the app not being updated for 4.3 yet.
App runs just fine here.

Notification LED customization app? LightFlow not working

Hi all~
Just got my 5T yesterday, but it seems that LightFlow is not working properly to control the notification LED.
Anyone figure out how to set it up to work or is there any other good alternative to customize the notification LED?

It's still very similar to what I got from my OnePlus 3, not so customizable.
I prefer per app notification LED customization.
The in-built LED control is absolutely inferior compared with what you can achieve with an app like LightFlow, which allows you to customize the LED color and blinking pattern on an per-app basis. It is even possible to have the LED circle through different colors if there are multiple notifications.
@J12894 Can you describe what exactly does not work on our 5T?

The LED just wont work according to my setting. It will simply "eat" the notification, and don't show any LED.
The notification will show up and then disappear. And I am sure it is "eaten" by LightFlow as if I disable it, there is no such issue.
When I tried "All enabled LEDs Test", with some setting, it will either not show any LED or just show the blue color.
I'm using Light Manager Pro and it seems to be working correctly.
+1 for Light Manager
Im having no problems with light flow. I am using legacy mode, though
I want to use lightmanager too but when I test the notification it show "You must unlock screen to allow led notification" but my screen is unlock because I'm set light manager.
What is wrong.

Hit ok, then press the power button. It should take like two or three seconds for the color to show up in the notification LED. It's just to test what you set up.
Then unlock your screen again and set up the next one.
Thanks
I got BlinkerLED working without any problems.

I am using Light Manager, but I am unable to adjust the blinking speed. So it's always the same, no matter what I select.
Not that it's a huge issue, but would like to know if that's adjustable.

Speed cant be controlled on OnePlus devices as you can do it on Note 8 or S8, I dunno why its so weird though!

notification led not working any more

guys, i didnt get the exact moment when it stopped working and can only speculate about what caused it, but my notification led isnt working any more. nothing triggers it. not whatsapp, not gmail...
is there any way to test it or tune it without relying on third party apps?
im on stock taimen with flash kernel, systemless xposed and gravity box.
thanks!
I dont think it ever has??? Isn't that why we have always on display and dont need notification light?
It definitely works. I use the app Light Flow - LED Control to customize my LED. Maybe try that app with charging light and see if it turns on when charging. Make sure you have blink light turned on in apps and notifications --> notifications --> Blink light.
