Move to Cubox? - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I'm looking at moving away from the Ouya just don't really like it even as an XBMC box. Anyone had a look at the CuBox looking at the CuBox-i4Pro with the Xbian distro (http://www.xbian.org/). Any idea's how it compares?

I would move to anything. Even a Raspberry PI would be better at this point. Im really sick of this thing.

Yeah mate am liking the idea media box could run sickbeard, transmission, tvheadend and headphones easily....looking between the cubox or the u droid u3....bought 2 of the ouyas thinking they are destined for the trash

I'm at the same boat. I'm really tired of this closed platform, this eternal promise of an indie games heaven that we know will never come and the limitations and bugs and everything we know that would never be solved by costumizations because Ouya isn't good for this, and it seems that's no good for nothing. It's a garbage cube as a videogame and a mediocre solution as a media center. Was good for the price when launched, but today we have a lot of alternatives.

Lol I'm now trying to figure out what to do with my ouya since I got a mojo now... ouya just not making smart business choices.

Only a real custom ROM that could totally unleash the Ouya console from the Ouya Store and etc can save this thing at this point... And I think we'll never get one.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

Never say never....I never thought the boxee would be xbmc but it has (i bought 4)... i think it will take time but i can't be bothered waiting too long thinking give it a month and see what's out there the cubox looks awesome but would love something in a tegra 4 could you image that thing fly!!!...
But having said that am in love with the idea of having sickbeard, xbmc, heaphones, sickbeard and maybe squid on my media machine would be no need to leave all my nas devices on could attach a usb drive to this and copy media over on weekends or whenever...

Haha, yeah I've been waiting for this game to get ported for a while now. There's still a few more that I hope to see. I hate hearing the whole "play me at this game" ... searching... searching... Android doesn't have it. "Guess you should have got an iPhone" argument. Despite some of the crappy reviews I'm seeing, it's playing damn smooth for me. And you can't beat free with no ads (yet?)

Was looking forward to this
But with ics near, it's the least of my concerns atm.
Although I could play to kill the time.
Now I can finally compete with my iphone friends ;D
And boy does it run smooth on our phone haha
That's about the only thing apple has over Android..the vast selection of quality games. We're starting to slowly get em but it's undeniable the games are lacking on. Android. I'd love to play gta 3 and ufc on my gs2's larger screen oppose to tiny iPod touch.

we do have GTA 3
I've been counting down the days for this to come out. I've been playing it lately on my old iPad, but the tilting it around just sucks (especially with that slippery aluminium backing!)
I teetered just shy of a million points on the iOS version, now I need to prove to my friend the tilting is what was holding me back.
I've since put my iPad away since I can rock it on my Android devices!
Drool....DROOOL!!!!!
Eh never cared much for that game.

But those were just 2 that came to mind...there so many games that I'd love to have on Android fromiPod touch. Hell if Android made decent mp3 player other than the non expandable Samsung one or freaking 5 in one I wouldn't even got iPod touch.

This game is as awesome as it looks, looks even better on my GS2 , quick question though, for some reason when I'm on games if I don't touch the screen it auto locks as if the app isn't running, some apps like benchmark apps it doesn't do this but games like temple run and nfs it does, any reason why and maybe a solution? Thanks.

Any good toddler learning apps on android?

I been searching for.some time now for any educational apps for my 18 months son with little luck.
Most apps are geared towards older children, not to mention not too many have child lock on them to prevent children from hitting capacitive buttons.Seem like all good children's apps or on ipad/iPhone and I won't to avoid this option if I can help it.
Anyone know of any good apps?
Here are few apps that I have so far that are usefull and not too complicated for children that are 1-3 years old.
1 Toddle Animal Numbers (Probably the best one,its educational and its free)
2 Undersea Adventure for Toddler (Not really educational but a fun and simple game, and its free)
3 Kids Doodle Paint (Best thing about this is that it has child's lock built in,so you can go to sleep while they draw and not have to worry about them turning it off, this one is free too)
And that's about it,yeah I know that's a damn shame.Rest that I tried is to complex.

Apps by intellijoy.
Also, there are lots of interactive books by people like "Oceanhouse media" (the book reads and the child interacts with the page.)
This is a good thread, I have an app called "kid mode" that has a lot of stuff in it, my 18 mo old daughter likes it.

They are toddlers...
They can take your iPad, S3 or whatever you have before you blink. So its better find them with the phone in theirs hands than see your gadgets on the toilet or trash can because they got bored.
Thats why also I have a Otter Defender.

If I had kids I would. Getting them a grasp of new things at an early age is important and most useful for the future. Smartphones are only materialistic items so I wouldn't care really unless they're looking at things they aren't supposed too.

When my daughter was 18 months old she liked learning animal sounds, She particularly liked the cat on this one Toddler Animal Sounds by Bluphant Games, They also do a paid for version which has a child lock built in it.
Now she's 3 however it's Peppa Pig all the way!

I beat normal lol focus on transmission and do t worry about lethality till it spreads everywhere then crank it up and watch em go lol
O.k this is kinda cool, fun to play when you're in a destructive mood! Only played 3 times lost twice on normal but wiped out the world in 540 days on casual
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Have it on iOS but on the iPod it was just too hard to play. Nexus is perfect size.
The trick on the first level is devolve symptoms immediately when they mutate until the entire planet is infected. Store up as much DNA as you can so you can become lethal as soon as you decide to pull the trigger. I had 124 DNA points when I decided to start killing everyone.
Game is superb fun. Great music too.
I've bought a few in-game purchased to help me along, the best one is to auto-pop the bubbles. I've been able to decimate the globe on casual after only playing it about 5 times, I just can't beat it on normal. Its either that I make it too lethal before it spreads everywhere or I make it spread everywhere and kill half to 3/4 of the population but then they cure it.
The game also annihilates my battery, I'm running Clemson's elite kernel and when I have the game fast-forwarded it takes up so much power that even when I have it plugged in it won't charge the battery but just sustain the current level and maybe decrease it by one or two percent!

I'm definitely interested in taking Ubuntu for a test drive, but I do have a few concerns:
1 - There is no lock screen, but the phone is still somehow secure. I don't feel great about that. Having a lock screen in place gives me the added peace of mind that if my phone is lost or stolen, I know that my data will be initially secure, and will probably remain secure until I remotely wipe the device.
2 - I'm not sure how I feel about a completely gesture-driven device. I had the original Palm Pre at the time, and I didn't find myself using the gestures unless I absolutely needed to (i.e. closing out cards, going back in the browser, etc.). Thankfully, the phone was a hybrid of gestures and physical hardware buttons. There won't be any hardware buttons on any Ubuntu phone.
3 - The device unity selling point doesn't sell me. I'd never use my phone as my home computer. My desktop and laptop are far more robust in terms of capability than any phone, and I'd rather just use those.
4 - I'm having a hard time believing that desktop-grade applications will run smoothly on a phone. Sure, developers will be encouraged to bundle a mobile interface, but I'm not sold on the notion that someday in the near future I'll be playing Portal 2 on my phone.
5 - The home screen looks crazy. I'm not a huge fan of the hodgepodge that will be files, media, and apps strewn about the home screen. In hindsight, I like the process existing mobile OS's take to reduce clutter. Open the app, then open media recognized by the app. That process keeps things clean.
Ubuntu isn't exactly easy on the eyes, either. That magenta-y, orange-ish theme is hideous. Even the font that they use sucks. Undoubtedly, however, that can be fixed through themeing the rom. However, I love stock rom experiences, so I know that a theme would irk me. Just my OCD, I guess.
It's core strength is multi-tasking, of which I'm very interested in. It seems to be very intuitive. I'd love to play around with that.
Web-based apps on the phone are definitely intriguing.
I didn't really care for the dig that they made on Android regarding Java. Java was put in place for rapid application development. On lower-end phones, I can see a Java environment being overhead on the operating system, but with my Optimus G, it hardly even knows its there. The OG is a beast.
I'm definitely going to be paying attention to the developments made with Ubuntu Mobile. I'll be dusting off my GNex when the image does get released.

Hehehehhe! Its a great site. Has everything you can hope for. I was enjoying a bit of Zelda and Metroid last night. It does take a bit of configuration for those [email protected] dual screens plus all the games have different methods of navigating characters. Some are touch (in which our stylus comes in handy once again) while other require a combo of both especially FPS. It'll take some get used especially since I never had a DS. I was really tempted to pick up the 3ds but might wait until the price comes down a bit more. Its difficult to justify buying a portable gaming system these days since our smartphones are so handy and just as powerful. I'll probably just grab the Note 3 instead lol!
