Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 Charging time? - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hi
I've pre-ordered a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (managed to get it with 10% off for £404.10 and a free 32GB SD Card) but was just wondering how long it takes to charge it from 0% to a 100%.
I've asked this question on Samsung UK's site and they published it but haven’t answered it, which is very useful. My current tablet (Motorola Xoom) only takes around an hour, compared to a friends Nexus 10, which takes around 5 hours!
BTW a tip for anyone in the UK who's buying a Galaxy Pro tablet:
ATM Samsung are doing a 10% off offer for any item over £50 but when you add this code for the new Pro tablets it doesn't work. So I rang Samsung and after a lot of hassle eventually got through to them on this number 03307267467 and told what had happened and the kind lady on the end gave me a one use only code to get 10% off. Nice!

From 32% to full I show 1:41. 2000mA charger.

I charged mine with the charger that wasn't supplied and it took 5 hours. Yet to try with the official one, is there any way you can work out how long a full charge took without looking and timing it?

How long does a standard nexus battery charge last unused?

If I bought an extra battery - $11 bucks shipped on amazon how long would it last charged sitting in my wallet, pocket, etc not being used? Would I still need to charge it every day, every other day, every week?
(I have a dock thingamajig I got with the phone but its useless for normal use since it doesn't work with my case-it has a separate battery slot)

It depends on the capacity and the mAh. With medium usage its possible to reach two or three days.

I have an i777 but it would be similar. I can leave mine sitting for many days, even a couple of weeks and it still has a very strong charge in it. Battery quality matters a lot though. Mine is a legit Samsung battery
It will self-discharge at about 5%-10% per month (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery).
Hope this helps... plee3
So I know the batteries are Li ion, but was just curious since my experience ends at Eneloops are considered low discharge rechargeables in the AA world (nimh) while other rechargeables self discharge very very fast.
I am assuming the self discharge is quite low for these nexus batteries.
I usually carry a extra battery on my pants and i use it after 2 - 3 days and it show full bar when i put it in

Note 2 or Nexus 7 for travelling (NY to Hawaii my experience)

I usually travel with my tablets as I prefer to load them up with my own choice of content (movies\TV shows\podcasts\music\comics) for the long flights and layovers I may have to deal with.
I first started with my Motorolla XOOM and that was a great experience for my first to Hawaii in 2011 battery life was great and the screen size was OK for being in cramped airplane seats (I cant afford 1st class yet )
Last year I flew to Florida and the Nexus 7 was a much better size for the trip and battery life just got better but the trip to Florida from NY was not a good test.
I flew to Hawaii again this year from NY so decided to give my Note 2 a test a the only thing I would use for the entertainment on the trip.
I traveled with a Note2 16GB on board RAM and a 64GB Micro SD card I was able to load it up with movies (MP4 1080p copies) and music (5000 Mp3s) and podcasts (mp4 formats) I also had two spare batteries fully (total of three all fully charged). both trip averaged OVER 12 hours with stops This trip the times for me were : 15 hours (with two layovers) towards Hawaii and 13.5 (with one layover) towards NY. I was able to constantly be watching video and occasionally jump online via in flight WiFi and chat or text via google voice. I did maintain it mostly in Airplane mode so this helped a lot with keeping the battery drain down. I did also bring a Nexus 7 in case i needed it .... but there was no need.
My Note 2 also was awesome for taking pictures/videos of the trip so no need for s separate camera and with the 64GB card I was able to just remove all the media (i bought my laptop and external HD to put them back for trip back) and have enough room for all the high quality video I wanted to take specially since I had spare batteries. all I had to do was carry the two spare ones for a full day of worry free Note 2 usage,
Next trip I will no longer need to take the nexus 7 as this was the best airplane experience I have had so far.
Just thought I would share in case others out there are looking to travel and were wondering what tech to take.
I carry four batteries and with battery life that's already as good as the note 2s, I never ever have to worry about heavy use. Thinkin bout buying three more lol. EBay ftw.

Removable battery=priceless.
So far I only replace battery once a day while I replaced battery twice on S3
Years ago I bought a little usb battery pack that takes four 2500mah NiMH AA batteries. It has a standard female usb port.
I've used it with a variety of devices. It's not as convenient as a spare battery, but it was far cheaper.
It has saved my bacon on several occasions! It's always nice to use my device over a long coast to coast flight and land with a full battery while my coworkers scramble to plug in any place they can find and then "buddy breathe" using the single usb port in the rental car during the next two hours.

Speaking of travel. I travel long distances too but use my Note 10.1 more for consumption. I got this during Samsung's 50% off accessories "deal" for $50. It's fantastic. Small, light, comes with special short cables for the propriatery tablet port and micro USB and is 9,000mAh which is enough to fully charge the Note 10.1 with almost enough left over for a charge on the N2. It recharges in about 3-4 hours which is fast for a battery extender. It also has an on/off switch so it doesn't trickle drain when not being used like a lot of the cheaper solutions do. It daisy chains too. If you plug a device in to its USB port while the it's charging it charges the device first and then itself. I highly recommend it for long distance travel.
Here's a pic showing how small it is next to a N2 battery...

Yeah, I have some serious global traveling coming up and am looking forward to eocking the Note 2. Last year I used my galaxy nexus and was always swapping batteries, using external battery packs, or was just starnded juiceless. This time, I'll be sporting 2 or 3 spare charged batteries. Should get me through 2 or 3 very hard use days without even thinking about a charger. Plus, it's all so light, and no extra cables. Thanks OP for your experiences.

I have both and can claim similar experiences. I have converted to only carrying my Note 2 on travel or commute. I might carry two if the rumors of the Note 8 end up to be true
I wish my Note 2 had 16gb onboard RAM

What's the output on these, anyway? I know they're sold out, but I'm curious to know if they come back in stock.
Got one on eBay for $24.99. "Slightly used"

Output is 750 mA and it works well with the OGP. Originally purchased this for $26 4 months ago on Amazon in brand new used condition. Always makes good contact and chagrew in about 4.5 hours from single digit battery %.
I have about 4 of these Nokia ones and have used them on my Note 2, S3, OGP. Honestly they seem to charge much faster on the OGP than the Samsung devices. Not sure if that has something to do with the Qi battery pads I bought for the Samsung's. But long story short, they'll usually charge to a full charge from 10% in about 4 hrs. I keep one next to my computer at work, both me and the old lady's nightstands and then one in the living room next to my TV chair. I just set it on a pad when I'm by those places and my phone is always charging easily.
24 to 25 is the price to pay. They show up regularly for that price.

[Q] Connecting Nexus 4 to Nexus 7 with USB

I'm going to get a Nexus 7 2013 next week, and I got a Nexus 4, so I'm between getting the 4G version or just grab de WiFi one, my main concern is not being able to use the phone to share 3G/4G to my tablet because my battery is already too low or won't last the time I want it to last (example watching a 3 hours movie/documentary).
The question is, Can I connect the phone to the tablet with a MicroUSB cable, and get my Nexus 4 to charge from my Nexus 7?
Or would that be a complete disaster.
That wouldn't work. I'm reasonably sure that micro-usb ports can't output power. It probably wouldn't be a disaster to try though...
Just grab a battery pack. When you WiFi share 4G, it'll burn through the phone battery quick. I only do it if I know I'll be around power.
When I travel, I've sometimes spend all day in airports and once had depleted all my devices during travel. I since picked up a little USB battery charger that I now carry with me. It allows you to charge a tablet like 3 times. Essential for travel and emergencies.
Pick up a decent one, like a name brand. The cheap Chinese ones never last long. I have a Duracell but energizer and other make them. Great for backpacking or camping where you can turn off your device but carry extra power for emergencies.
Phones and tablets never output power.

The 2013 N7 can supply power to otg devices, but that wouldnt matter.
The N4 has a 2100mAh battery and the 2013 N7 has a 3950mAh one, it would take the majority of the N7's battery to charge a N4 (or any other phone) to full.
Not to mention that it would take all day to charge it too, it's possible not but at all feasable.
Yup I did some testing and I can do 3 hours 21 minutes of 3G tethering via WiFI, maybe I could get some more out of it, but considering the phone will never be at 100% battery when I'm out, I might find an external battery as mentioned above, or go with the 4G model. To be honest it's 80 € more, and with 80€ I could probably buy a decent external battery, but at the same time is 1 more gadget to carry around.
Thanks all for the feedback, help and suggestions. If someone thinks of more options say so People is brilliant sometimes when it comes to crazy ideas.

[Q] Chargine speed?

Just got my G3 last night.
Loving it so far, but i noticed that the charging speed is very slow..
Also, the charger and cable that came with the phone gives me "weak power" notification even when I plug it into the wall.
So I have to use my old charger and cable...
any thoughts ?
Coming from a Note 3, this does feel slower.
Nexus ONE
I'm still using my galaxy s4 charger since its a larger cord. Charges about the same speed as my g2.
Yep coming from the note 3 I notice a difference too. It's gotta be the fact the note had usb 3.0

Yes, coming from the Note 3, the G3 is slow as hell. Actually, very disappointed on it but it is what it is.
I haven't even used the one that came with the phone. Use the blackberry blade chargers, they'll charge at about 1% a minute or so. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app
The charger that comes with the phone is 1.8 amps, the Note 3 comes with a 2 amp charger. Not sure how much current the G3 can pull vs the Note 3, but you could try using a Note 3 charger and see if it's any faster.
I had an old charger by my nightstand and when I plugged it in at around 20% it said it would take it 6 hours to charge haha. The included charger quoted 2 hours.
It's possible that your cable (or the charger) is damaged OP
I plugged my 2 day old G3 in yesterday at 18% and it calculated charge to 100% to only take 1hr46min. Your charger must be phuked if it is showing slow charging. All chargers I have that are over 1.5mAh charge at the faster rate.

Mine charges no slower than any other phone I've owned. I don't do Samsung, so I can't say anything about them. Charges every bit as fast as my wife's M8.

This ^^^. $5 on eBay for TWO of them. They're 6 feet long, and charge at 1.8A - fast as hell on my N5. I'll see how it is on the G3 when I get it. But they're honestly so good I bought 6 of them total. For $15, and how good they are, why not?
Did u try them? Do u have link from ebay?
