[Q] Touch screen doesn't respond to touch - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

My S3 has been working fine for months sort of. I bought it off of ebay with a huge crack in the glass, then my brother dropped it and all the glass fell out. To use the phone we has to touch the bare LCD of the phone, which after a while we just but a screen cover over it. I waited 2 months, bought a new glass replacement and put it on, everything worked just fine. After a little the home button when pressed to the left a little would make the screen go crazy. it would start tapping and swiping in random places. After locking and waking the screen the phone was normal again. after that, i removed the glass again, and this time when putting it back on if i pushed the home button it pushed the glass down a little, which would turn my screen black. locking the phone and waking the screen again turned the screen back on. Also the screen was a lot less sensitive, i'd have to tap a key 2-5 times sometimes to hit a specific letter. whenever that happened i put 3 dsi's to weigh it down and push the screen down, which would improve the sensitivity. that worked twice, and now my screen doesn't respond to touch at all. the screen will wake, but only when i press on the bottom right corner of the screen will it respond to touch. Any word on what could be the problem? i need to know what to buy to replace in the phone. I've already taken the whole phone apart and plugged everything back in, after i had tried everything to get my phone to respond. Could this be a digitizer problem, or an LCD problem? any possible fixes without having to replace anything?

The first issue was using the device without the glass installed. By touching the bare LCD you most likely damaged it. Your best bet at this point is probably going to be to replace the Touch assembly ( Glass / LCD Touch digitizer ) . Also keep in mind, when doing any sort of Screen replacement. Be sure to keep everything as clean, and dust free as possible.

Touch screen has stopped!!!! Help!!!

My phone has been going great and giving no issues. Byt the other evening suddenly the toicuh screen stopped being responsive!!! Totally randomly. No drop or spil or anythign like that, no new software or roms recently.
When you open it the keyboard still lights up, and after a hard reset, you can navigate a bit using the keys. But ZERO response from the screen!!!
As i say, this is even with a hard reset!!! I also tried using masking tip to pressure the screen in case somethign was stuck.
Ok it mighty be the digitiser, or a loose connection. Im hoping not.
Has anyone experienced this or similar and is tehre anythign else i can try before i take the plunge and get someone to look at it??? (its out of warranty unfort)
Ouch
Sorry to hear. It happened to me months back. It started with very uncalibrated clicks... making corner clicking impossible to compensate for.
I've recompensated, but that didn't last long - and it eventually degraded to no touch screen. With insurance, I did get a refurbish for my woes.
I flashed Stock ROM and relocked. No luck.
I'd still back up everything.
Reformat SD card.
Reflash stock ROM
Relock the device - all to see if it helps.
I did have a similar recent problem - but in this case it's because I was using a clip on hard case front that must've been putting pressure on the touch screen.
Hopefully one of these helps you out. Good luck
When my screen stopped responding it was due to a more physical thing.
I read this somewhere and tried it, worked instantly!
You have to get your finger nail under the screen (try pushing your nail into the edge of the screen from the side) and lift the screen up a bit.
This worked for me. If you think its a physical and not software issue give it a shot.
I have had the same problem.
I bought new touch screen on ebay (about $15) and after replacement the device works well.
stop everything !!!!!
if you have Google G Mail set up on your phone remove it and it will fix it's self
somthing google / G mail is doing the tilt 2 doesn't like
causing the "Sleep Of Death"
Hi guys
I have tried all the above
Last resort is i got sprite backyup to work
BUT HOW THE HELL DO YOU HIT "NEXT" OR "OK" FROM THE KEYBOARD AS SCREEN DOESNT WORK????

It's actually very simple to fix - slide a finger nail under the plastic by the speaker and gently pry the digitizer up. Then, put it back. You dont need to remove it totally from the phone. It will flex back to its flat shape as soon as the glue releases. As soon as you stick it back down, the touch screen will work again.

Rainbow marks on screen

I was wondering if anyone can help me fix a problem I've got with my tp2. Basically the device turns on and I can make phone calls and use programs fine. However I can't use the touch screen at all, the hard buttons all work, but touching the screen has no effect.
When the screen is turned off I can see a rainbow pattern on it and it moves to my touch. This could be water damage but I don't remember dropping it in water. The water mark is red on the phone and battery, so it probably is water damage.
Just wondering if anyone knows an easy fix for this. Thanks for reading
Just had exactly the same thing happen this week. At first if I turned it off and firmly pressed my thumbs up the screen (as if I was pushing the rainbow marks to the edge of the screen) I could get it to respond for a while. Then it started to get larger spots and now I can't get it to respond no matter what I do...
If the touch screen is not functional, then you'll likely need to replace the digitizer. I would suggest purchasing the LCD/digitizer combos, as they are easier to install for first timers.

[Q] N7105 LTE - failed screen repair, won't power on

Hi,
I have attempted a glass only screen repair on my Note II which in hindsight was probably a mistake. Initially, I though things were going bad as I cracked and heated shards of glass away from the disassembled phone. Fully expecting to need to buy a new LCD/digitizer I eventually removed all the glass. Before cleaning the screen, I plugged it all back together and to my amazement it worked. Everything turned on and the digitizer worked so I turned it off and went about cleaning it up.
I then realized I could remove the backing that the glass was on, the bit with the black bezel. I don't know what this was or if I should have removed it or not. I cleaned what I think was the digitizer and LCD, put the new glass on and assembled the phone and this is where I'm stuck.
I try and power it on and all I get is one little red LED flash when I press the power button. When I press the power occasionally the screen flickers briefly as if it wants to turn on. I can't reset (10 seconds power) or hard reset (volume up + home + power). The phone is at full charge, it takes charge (my power supply "whistles") and the battery is at 4.1V.
Does anyone know what this symptom is or what I may have broken? I'm thinking I could have ruined the screen somehow, perhaps I shouldn't have pulled that last piece of plastic off or perhaps I have killed the motherboard but I don't see how..? Thanks for any assistance!
So I fixed the phone. Solution posted in case anyone else runs into this issue.
When I was removing the last layer on the screen or cleaning the goo off, I must have broken the screen. The red LED flash when I was turning the phone on is normal, it is just that the screen was not working. I got a new screen assembly and replaced the whole thing.
I've replaced about a dozen phone screens for myself, friends and family and I would strongly recommend replacing the whole screen assembly on a Note 2 instead of a glass only replacement.
I am a tech that does glass only replacements every day on s3 n2 and s4 and I can tell you that the black layer you removed was the digitizer and front half of the lcd that's were you messed up

[Q] Need help with Note 2 touch screen issue

Hi, I have an issue that has formed after glass replacement on my Note 2. I was extremely careful in trying not to damage anything during the replacement process and I did not use excessive heat either, keeping the screen under 170 degrees F to loosen the cracked screen. The issue is that about half the time the phone touch screen will stop working during normal use and then when I hit the lock button on the right side and then unlock the phone again it will be ok for a while before it acts up again. So far, I have done a soft and hard reset with no luck. I noticed the problem is worse when the 12 small screws in the back of the phone are very tight, I loosened them all a few turns and this helped it act up less. The pen always works. I installed a multi touch testing app and this proves that something is up because it sometimes reads fingers that arent there, generally in the middle of the screen and sometimes this programs just completely flips out and reads fingers everywhere. So at this point Im guessing that maybe the replacement glass is too close to the LCD? It also does seem to be negatively affected if I bend the whole phone slightly, this also sometimes causes the touch screen to flip out of just quit altogether. Any input is extremely appreciated!
Is there supposed to be anything between the glass and the lcd when the glass is replaced? Sorry if thats a dumb question.

Top of screen unresponsive

Had my LG G3 for just over a year, dropped it a few times but nothing major - Screen/casing is in perfect condition still.
The screen has started to raise up so light bleeds out on both sides, tried to press it back down but unfortunately it springs back up. This didn't really bother me until the top part of my screen became unresponsive, I can no longer pull the notification drawer down- I've turned on the show touches in developer options and the screen doesn't pick up my touch at the top of the screen, if I put it in landscape mode the same part of the screen is unresponsive.
My device is under warranty but I'd rather find a solution myself to avoid being without a phone for a few weeks etc.
Is there anything I can do except replace the digitizer?
Curtis
Bump. Having the same exact issue & can't find any solution.
Well, mine had the same problem of the digitizer raised up... I discovered that my battery was swollen then I replaced it with a new one and it fixed that problem... No idea about unresponsiveness...
