[Q] Trouble (recovey mode) with [GUIDE] Back up DRM Keys & unlock/relock Bootloader - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[Q] Trouble (recovey mode) with [GUIDE] Back up DRM Keys & unlock/relock Bootloader
Hi,
I am stuck with the rooting of my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact following the [GUIDE] Back up DRM Keys & unlock/relock Bootloader (noob proof) and I hope you can help me. Everything worked fine until
17. Now format /system (located under Mounts & Storage) (Important: Do NOT reboot until advised so or you will have to start again)
Error message: Error formatting /system!
When I start recovery mode and start PhilZ Touch 6 I get the error messages:
Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
Unable to create brightness sys file
Can't mount /cache/recovery/logs
....
I also found that there might be a solution for it:
While in Recovery I had to flash lockeddualrecovery before anything else so partitions would be restored properly, then reboot and repeat step 19
But what does this mean? It sounds for me that I have to install the Z1C-lockeddualrecovery(...)flashable.zip first, in the menu I go to Install Zip, Choose zip from /sdcard and I get the error message Can't mount /sdcard.
How can I flash the lockeddualrecovery? Or what else could you suggest?
Thanks a lot for your help.
-> I found the solution, I have to boot with volume down first, use the alternative recovery app to install the .zip and then repeat step 19.
Regards
Michael

My phone is broken > Need your help

Hi guys,
I recently tried to install a ROM on my HTC Desire.
Everything was OK (Root + Radio + Rom Froyo 1.0) then I did some (really) stupid thing (don't ask why) such as wipe and format pretty much everything (data, cache, system, boot) from the recovery mode.
Anyway, here is the point :
- Modele : HBOOT0.80.0000
- My phone only reboot in Fastboot or Bootloader Mode
- I have access to the Recovery Mode
- I can't access to my SDcard (so I cannot upload any zip file on it and even though I can using anothetr device to read the SDcard, I cannot "mount" it so it is impossible to launch or flash a Rom file from the phone). > Sorry if that's not clear, I'm french, so.... pardon my french
- I don' have any backup
So, my question is: How can I restart from zero?
I mean, is there a way to reinstall everything like it was before and make my phone work?
Thank you for your help guys!
try to use unrevoked3 flash AdvancedRecovery and boot in recovery... then go to the partition menue and choose mount "storage" now you have acess to the sd card at the computer.
A **** my fault...unrevoked wants the device to be boot up..... hmmmm
Grab a stock ROM, rename to update.zip, drop on SD and pray to God that is can read it
failing that try a spare SD
@seti1337 > Well tried anyway
@DanTehManUK > A Stock ROM ? Is it RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe ?
So, should I rename the .exe in updat.zip ? (weired )
EDIT : I found : PB99IMG_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.zip, is that ok ?
Anyway, every time I try to access the SD from my phone (flash zip or mount SD etc.) I hace an error :
--> Error mounting SDCARD : !
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or/dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(no such file or directory)

Hi. I had the same problem. I google and found this thread: android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/ This worked for me.
Thx, I'll try that.
Did you do the first step (r5 rooting guide) ? If yes, wich file did you download ? (I'm not sure to have a ROM installed now)
Also, should I do the Gold card too ?
Ok, id made it !
Everything is fine... or almost
Then I install the Root + Radio Rom + Froyo 1.0 > OK
Theb I tried to add a rom (to see the % in the batterie) from ROM Manager and now my Phone keep rebooting on the HTC Quietly brilliant screen .
I tried to wipe data / cache and sd-ext but it doesn't work.

[Q] Odd error - in RECOVERY - execute update.zip or not?

So I grabbed the OTA ZIP file that was posted here - THANK YOU by the way.
I boot into recovery and I am presented with the following :
Android System Recovery (2e)
the usual 4 menu options for Reboot, Apply sdcard:Update.zip, Wipe data and wipe cache.
I get an error on the recovery screen that says :
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Can i still run the update? This is a relatively stock Incredible (Rooted, S-Off then unrooted.
Thx
Ron
I got that same error, pretty sure it just has to do with the 4 recovery commands your seeing right now. It probably just recreates that file once you see the commands. I went ahead and flashed the update.zip. I got other errors as it was flashing, but I don't they're linked.

Two issues: "Infinite Boot screen" and "Can't Mount /sdcard/" in Recovery Mode

Two issues: "Infinite Boot screen" and "Can't Mount /sdcard/" in Recovery Mode
Hi Guys I need some help,
So I rooted my tablet and installed CWM following this (I did not install CM), went ahead and rebooted the system, but it never actually boots, only displays the boot logo screen and never moves from there.
So I downloaded this rom and bootloader and pushed it to the tablet via ADB, then I go to Recovery Mode and try to flash it following the CWM menus, install zip -> choose zip from sdcard, then it tells me "E: Can't mount /sdcard/"
What should I do now? how can I fix the infinite boot screen and/or sdcard issue?
Thanks
Got everything back to normal.
Followed this to flash stock system/boot/recovery. Then flasehd TWRP and SuperSU to root the device

Blu Advance 4.0 L2 (A030U) - Custom Recovery TWRP and root

Hi all,
First of all be carefull, Nobody will be responsible for bricking your device but yourself.
I compiled twrp 3.0 for blu advance 4.0 l2 (A030U) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw48RaTkRMm_eTRXVk84aWJTUjA here the sources https://github.com/contrerasojuanc/device_blu_advance_l2_A030U, thanks to @Dees_Troy and its guide on https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943625. So, in order to install it on this device, we will need to unlock bootloader (Factory reset needed), and flash TWRP recovery on recovery partition.
Settings -> About device -> Compilation number click multiple times to get new developer options menu.
Enable Unlock OEM.
On terminal:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
On terminal:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
On terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_a030u.img
On terminal:
Code:
fastboot reboot
(Immediately press and hold Volumen + on device until custome recovery shows up.)
In order to achieve root on this device, we need to install from TWRP a Supersu system-mode, available thanks to @mauam, it can be get at https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120 (I used SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SYSTEMMODE.zip).
Note that maybe /system need to be mounted as writeable, so first mount System and then, on TRWP's terminal:
Code:
/system/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
Hope, it can be useful somehow. Any questions, please let me know.
I did everything right but I can not get root
Could you give more detail on how you installed supersu in system mode? I used the command mount -o remount,rw /system (replacing /system with the actual system folder path I found using the mount command in twrp temrinal) BUT discovered system remained read-only and everywhere I searched says you need to have root access to mount it as re-writeable.
I installed the zip you used anyways but am now stuck at the BLU logo screen. What should I do now?

The command I used for get writable /system was
Code:
/system/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
exactly that one, remember that if you are in TWRP you have root access in recovery partition, so /system can be set as writeable from there. Probably you need to flash recovery and system partition again. I have those partitions from my stock device, let me know if want to give it a try.
Did you type any commands before that? I get the error "sh: /system/bin/mount: not found".
It would be great if you could link the stock partitions.

No command before, this is what I did:
1. In TWRP tap Mount menu, then check "Mount system partition read-only" then check "System", then middle bottom button (Home). (So now we have /system partition mount but as RO)
2. Tap Advance menu, Terminal and type
Code:
/system/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
3. Now if all goes alright, we should have /system writeable.
4. With /system writeable, tap on Install menu, select the Supersu file (Only this worked for me SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SYSTEMMODE.zip).
5. Deviced rooted.
Ok, I'll try to upload the partitions tonight, while you could search the rom in web.

Yes, what you describe is exactly what I did on a previously stock device, but with the same issue on terminal I posted before. After ignoring that, and sideloading the supersu .zip you used, the device gets stuck on the second BLU logo screen on boot, no hope getting back to system. Hopefully it works the second time around with stock partitions...

Hi, the only way I know would be to flash stock partitions of that device. If you manage to find them in the web, I could tell you how to flash it.

Not working
Hi, I have a BLU Advance 4.0 L2 (A030U) and the TWRP doesn't work in my phone, it boots but the touchscreen isn't working, any suggestion?
UPDATE: I was booting twrp from fastboot because I wasn't able to flash it like is explained here, I think that is why my touchscreen wasn't working, anyways I managed to flash it through SP Flash Tools and It worked but now the root doesn't work, it softbrick the phone everytime I try, I'm able to mount system and all that stuff, everything is successfull but the phone does not boot.
Thank you
.It successfully helped root my Advance 4.0 L 2 A030L in yesterday.
I bad English.
I tried flash superuser.zip(superuser.phh.me_2016-09-23), Magisk-v14.0.zip, SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SYSTEMMODE.zip, they could root my A030L(stock-V05_GENERIC)
if not fastboot reboot"(Immediately press and hold Volumen + on device until custome recovery shows up.)" , devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot.
Other unimportant: Recovery in A030L also need remount / system, there is not read SDcard (update.zip can be imported in TWRP or OS to internal storage),can't backup userdate.can't input password to read userdate after Encrypted.

Ver-V05 can root both ok. Ver-V12 look like something wrong in boot.img,it can only root by Magisk. Maybe you should flash boot.img from ver-V05 if you want use V12.
i have a030u v12 rom. v5generic not work, after install result crash bootlogo loop same make option format... recovery not work! same press up button! after all process not enter in twrp. i test magisk not work customize boot.img flash to sp flash result crash boot! mtk droid not detect my phone too please help me.... very hard root this device!

Hi, in order to know what can be happening, first let's try to flash recovery partition, for that, please follow these steps:
Settings -> About device -> Compilation number click multiple times to get new developer options menu.
Enable Unlock OEM.
On terminal:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
On terminal:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
On terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_a030u.img
On terminal: After write the next command, press enter on your computer and immediately press and hold Volumen + on device until custom recovery shows up.
Code:
fastboot reboot

Help - Stuck after OEM unlock - cannot format /data ? maybe storage hardware issue ?

[Solved] I flashed Redwolf recovery and could wipe/format data.
Hello,
TL/DR : stuck in recovery due to filesystem issue, cannot format data. How can I solve this ? should I follow this thread [LENOVO P2] Fastboot Files Of Every Stock Firmware (fastboot flash system systemchunk0.img bla bla bla ??)
Maybe it is a hardware issue due to a fall of my phone.
How can I test the storage from adb or recovery ?
Thanks a lot.
Here is the story :
My phone fell and broke screen (LCD broken too - screen was black), it was on stock.
I changed the screen tonight.
Everything seems to work good, but I found that my phone had some little freezes : irresponsive for 1 or 2 seconds when trying to show notifications for eg.
(It is not the digitizer/multitouch which I tested)
I already applied a year ago to OEM unlock.
I followed Lineage OS guide closely to flash TWRP.
(No issue except one or two reboot with stock rom that reinstalled lenovo recovery right after flashing twrp recovery)
When flashing a rom and gapps I saw errors where /data would not mount.
When rebooting I get a message about encryption.
I did not encrypt my phone... (well I think) - I did indicate that my Pin code was needed to boot when on stock though.
Using Wipe Repair option, I changed file system of /data to ext4 - it worked, now I can mount /data ... but I can't wipe :
mkfs.f2fs -t0 -r blabla
gives this "ERROR : 1
unable to wipe Data.
unable to format to remove encryption"
what should I do next ?
thanks
