Grip Shell Review - Moto G Accessories

Hi guys!
Got my white grip cover today and it's much better than I expected it to be.
Looks: It looks and feels phenomenal, hardly adds any bulk to the phone and provides protection too. The feel is similar to how my new One X felt. The back has a very nice soft feel to it, different from both back shells and flip covers.
Fit: Fits perfectly. Zero creaks or noises. Mind you, it doesn't click when you put it on. It's held there by the bumper around it. But the fit is very reassuring.
Protection: The back is much harder than the standard back plate, thus providing better protection. The bumper around it also feels decently protective. Buttons are still nice and clicky. Cutouts are prefect.
Worth every penny. Will be buying the blue one soon too! Go for it.

I have the black one and I would have to agree about how great it is. How is the white one? Do you feel like it could discolor pretty fast? Is the white bright or more like an eggshell white ?

I'd say it's on the brighter side of white. And, I guess the whole material of the case is of the same colour so I don't really think it could discolour. Why do you think it would lose its colour?

By discolor I meant that do you think that it will stain easily.

Oh, that! White I think will be pretty easy to dirty bit a wipe with a wet cloth will be good enough. I've used a white phone since the past two years and most of the stains go away by just using a damp cloth. Otherwise, a lens cleaning solution would always do the trick.

I have the red one and am really impressed with it. What other colors do they have?

Blue, White, Yellow and Black!

I preordered yesterday the white grip from amazon. It seems really beautiful and sexy

Hi although the official grip cover looks cool on the device and doesnt add extra thickness to the device.. I am not very confident about how well it would protect the device..hence I have been thinking about getting a Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case for the phone. Any of you who have been using the Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case kindly provide some feedback..how thick does it make the phone ? Does it really protect the phone well ?

Slim Case That Covers The Entire Bezel?

I'm currently using an Elago Breathe case and I absolutely love the way it feels and how thin it is but it doesn't cover the entire bezel of the phones, leaving tthe top and bottom bezel unprotected. So does anyone know a good slim case that covers the whole bezel?

If clear is your thing, this case is really nice.

It's so slim. Can't imagine it's much protection. It has a nice feel to it as well and it's got a good fit. No real front lip, so doesn't protect your phone if you put it face down.
If you have the pebble blue phone, they make one with a blueish tint too.

I have that exact case on my pebble blue and can confirm the no face down protection. I think it looks smart in my opinion better than the only other option which is a lightish blue .Someone else has it on this forum as well and has posted pictures so if you're interested have a search and I'm sure it will show up.

Go with an SGP Modello or Capdase case.
I have the SGP Modello. It's a nice case. Not as thin as a Case Mate Barely There (as an example), but still quite thin and covers everything. Good fit. Not much grip, which I like, but not everyone does.

+1 SGP Modello. Love it.
Currently not being productive on my S3.
Rocketfish Snap-On is is a bit thicker than what you have now, but not very bulky at all, and covers the bezel. The gray goes well with the pebble blue.

Just remembered I have bad experiences with SGP cases. They have a tendency of fading out/losing/changing colors. I instead decided to go with this generic one

I have the one in blue. Its an OK case. I actually put it on and took it right off. Its a bit too slippery for me.
Tpu cases work very well. Has good overall protection. Doesn't protect your screen from shattering but it will protect it when you put your phone face down.

DX BOX Aluminum Bumper

Just wanted to post this item as I have just received one and I will say that it is pretty much perfect for what I wanted.
It is nicely packaged, includes extra screws and protects the corners while being extremely light and maintaining the One's premium feel.
It does NOT protect the back side, even on a table. This is fine for me as all I really care about is denting the corners. Also the power button takes a bit getting used to hitting as it is recessed, but there is no way around this with this design.
It took almost 3 weeks to get here and I will probably order a spare silver one.
I have attached some pics for you.
Enjoy

Just received mine today (black) looks really slick once fitted.
I had to place a strip of black electrical pvc tape on each inside edge as out the box its a bit loose.
Just ordered a black vinyl cover for the back to protect it from scratches.

I ordered another one, a silver one I will let you know if that one is loose.
This really is the perfect product for me because all I ever do is dent the corners haha.

Yes, it is a surprisingly high quality volume rocker.
Hi,
Here are a few pics of my black on black. With an Xtreme guard on the back I screwed up a little bit. Anyway.
Nice I just ordered a red one.
Do you guys think that a back protector is needed?? I get my one on Saturday and I purchased a front screen protector but I'm starting to think I need a back one with three one being aluminum and all.

I'm from the school of thought that A. we destroy the original engineering as little as possible B. some scratching, scuffing is reasonable wear and tear on an item. So, I do no see any point in using a back cover. Like I said, I have dropped the phone 3 times and dented the top corners and it has create a small gap on one corner so I think it's important to protect the corners. For me I also have accidental warranty so if I smash the screen it's only $100 to get a replacement.
The feel of this phone is too nice to ruin it with plastic film.
Looks nice, does it add much weight to the phone and how easy is it to install and finally would it okay with a glass protector?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My question as well. Would this fair okay with the spigen glas.tr protector?
I have held one in hand and it is quite light, feel like it doesn't add much weight if any at all, definitely not very noticeable from what I thought. Also very easy to install. Just curious about the glass screen protector.

Dead simple install and is is VERY light. It is honestly the best IMHO. As for your Screen protector, I can't see why it wouldn't, unless the screen protector extends past the bezel.
about back protector = I would say it realldy depends on what kind of protection you need.
If keeping your device brand new and shiny for as long as possible, you should definitely get one. Otherwise, if a few scratches or wear marks are acceptable to you it is not something you have to consider. However I've always been a user of screen protectors as they are barely visible if applied correctly - and keep your device's value at its best if you plan to resale it someday.
I have tested many protections (incipio feather shine, dual pro, belkin, urban armor gear and finally this aluminium bumper.
I would not recommend this last one for daily use, as IMHO it really does not offer drop protection (shock absorbtion is not one of aluminium blends's characteristics) and prevent the screen to shatter in case you drop it from pocket height. For this reason I will stick with dual pro or UAG cases. But if you're really careful with your device, and just looking for small amount of protection and no bulk addition, then this might be the perfect one for you.
...oh, and I can confirm it adds not weight at all.

I'm sure it's probably fine. The one non draco I have is great so I can't see the fake draco being crap so long as it is aluminum. Just a guess though.
I think it would fit just fine with a spigen gtr on there the glass it not edge to edge or top to bottom.

Does this bumper mess with reception at all?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I've got it and I think it does so I took it out. Not sure if it goes for everyone but from my experience it does. Especially when I was using WiFi at home when I didn't have the bumper case my WiFi signal was always full bar but soon as I put it on it fluctuates between 2 and 3 bars. Just my personal experience I've read from some people that it doesn't affect their signal so maybe mine was a factory defect

Doesn't affect mine.

For those of you with an Incipio dualpro.

I've had the carbon fiber black since I bought my One, but after a few months the texture scratched and came off. I used sand paper in water and then some Krylon Fusion for plastic paint and now my case looks good again!
So if your case looks battle worn, it couldn't hurt to try.

Interesting, I was looking at buying the CF case. I have a question for you, are the volume buttons more easily triggered with the dual pro case? I had a silicone case from VZW and with the protrusions for the volume buttons, they became way too easy to hit and I was constantly adjusting ringer volume when I didn't want to.

Quite the opposite really. The silicone used as the first layer of this case is a bit more stiff than I found with other cases. The buttons are actually as tactile or "clicky" as they were when I got the case.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I actually really like this case, looks like when it inevitably gets scratched I can fix it up.
I have the same case, the buttons are hard to push in for volume. I have read where super glue on them on the inside helps to make it easier. Has anyone tried this?

Thin!! :good:
$5.99?? I got the 0.3mm cases at $1.50 each.
There's also a thread discussing it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2604742.
I have this case, it is very thin, its not TPU but still flexible. The finish is quite good, there weren't any sharp edges on the two black ones I got. The black one isn't see through. I wanted to get a clear one but they were out of stock, but from my previous experience with white/clear cases they discolour extremely easily.
It does get scratched, I have a few minor scratch marks on the back just from putting the phone in the car's cup holder, glove box etc. but you do need the right light to see them.
The case has raised edges around the screen such that the screen wont touch a table when placed flat on top of it. These edges also trap a lot of dust and make it hard to clean.
After a while dust gets under the case but so far it hasn't caused any damage to the phone.
Overall its a good case but you should think of it as a sacrificial item that'll degrade through use. Also, don't expect it to save your phone from a drop. It'll protect the phone from scratches at most.
Hope this helps you guys decide whether to buy or not.
Didn't like it
I bought the case you're talking about. I didn't like it very much. The fit is mediocre. The button cutouts are small, so it's hard to push the buttons. The main issue is that it just doesn't feel good to touch. The material is similar to the textured plastic you get on report covers. Most of this was mentioned in the thread someone linked to above. For me, the quicksand cases are way better and only slightly bulkier.
It looks nice

I'm using this, it's soft plastic. Not even a hard case. So don't expect any protection on shock.

Ringke Onyx is pretty nice in Midnight Navy

Just got the Midnight Navy color and it's really cool. nice color that looks dark indoors but definitely looks navy outside...very cool. good camera protection, too. a little bulky, in the sense that it's thicker than a normal TPU, but i've got a normal smoked matte TPU but it has no camera protection so that's a big nono with this huge cam bump..don't wanna break that sucker! here's some shots of it: (gallery: https://postimg.org/gallery/2vgo75h1e/)
got the same case, it is nice.
I have the same case and it does have camera protection in the sense that the lens would not hit the table if it were placed on a flat surface.
