Just when i was losing faith. . .
Quick Question:
If I'm currently on 98.18.78 (rooted & gsm unlocked) and cannot take the ota (i think because of the root method i used?) would it be better to rsd to the 98.30.1 stock rom and wait for the kk ota? or should i just wait for an sbf of the new kk?
Thanks

Probably wait for one of our awesome devs to make an update(if you are unlocked bootloader) if not probably rsd then take Ota

How long does it take usually from the soak test to release with complete system updates?
The latest soak test mails for some minor bugfixes on the Droid 4 were sent on Jan 3, the update was already available on Jan 8.
So, five days in this case.
The KitKat release dates for other VZW Motos?

I'm starting to think this is false, the only person to say anything would be the thread author. Other then that there's been silence and not even a peep about soak test, not even on RAZR HD side. I've been signed up for a while and I still haven't got anything.

I'm pretty sure if they were sent then people would be talking about it like crazy. Not only that this thread was made earlier today and said they are now being released, now you're saying a few days ago? Ha.

Shame on the OP if this is trolling/a prank. I got my hopes up pretty high, having never really used KitKat before.

I am signed up for soak test

The only way we really know if this is legible is that if you actually GET a soak test. I've searched on Google even specifically, and found nothing besides this thread on a RAZR M soak test.

Just saw your previous posts about soak updates. I think you're always be the first one to get invitation. If it's true,Razr M is one step ahead Razr HD in receiving OTA updates. I had also signed to Motorola Feedback Network. Hopefully,I got the invitation email soon.

Yes yes yes about time. This is a very big deciding factor for me in keeping my M for another year. Very glad its getting kit kat. Hopefully it rolls out in a few days!!

I wonder if it's just a maintenance update, or to unlock bootloader? They did say not to expect GB until August right? lol

Pretty certain that it won't unlock. It isn't GB, but it'll be nice to have some bug fixes.

No, I know. I'm just saying that the OTA isn't an update to GB. It'll still be 2.2.
Maybe its a preperation patch for a future bootloader patch. Or just a bug fix patch yea.. either way anything is better than nothing!
This maybe still just rumor but some one in fascinate forum posted they looked earlier in Twitter postings and said it maybe GB. Honestly don't think it is either but we'll see when it come.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
please let it be a GB/unlocked bootloader combo~ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE~
but back to reality, it's likely going to be a froyo with an unlocked bootloader, that would be my guess
Either one would work for us GB would be nice hut as ling as we get an unlock that would be nice.

Why doesn't the Inc2 just jump on GB? Will this just be 2.2.2? Hopefully, the extra .1 will be more than just bugfixes.

It could still be Android 2.2.1 with HTC software bug fixes (ie: for sense/rosie).
This already reminds me of the old Eris forums and rumors of 2.1 for the longest time
Ahhhh...

At least then I knew when it was coming
That's the idiocy of not shipping these new phones with the latest software. It just creates chaos like this. Ridiculous.

Unlocked bootloader please

From HTC today:
"I understand that you are wondering when the Incredible 2 will have its boot loader unlocked. We’re pleased to announce that we have heard everyone’s comments and constructive suggestions and have decided to go forward with this initiative. We currently don’t have information regarding which existing phones will be unlocked. Keep an eye on our official website and official social media outlets for announcements about which phones will be bootloader unlocked and when."

Flashing a rom/comments on updates

Does flashing a rom delete all the photos and stuff on the device if i flash via.recovery.
On a side note it may be a precursor for the jellybean we are slated for the january launch and or february. Just want to also inform people that dont know and are asking about it might actually get people cooled down. Most of the time updates are pushed to get a phone ready for a new os before the new os is pushed.
Also being so close to a release i dont think we will see another update until jellybean is pushed to us. That is due to a waste of coding time and would make it less magical looking when they push it to us.
Any comments on what i said about them releasing the updates.

February seems true. Also I suggest my backup root just in case to backup EVERYTHING on your phone. That way if it gets messed up while flashing you dont lose your texts, call logs, and game save data. Also create a nandroid. If you dont know how email me at [email protected], or hit up IRC.

How is LG with the dev community?

I am looking to upgrade to the Sprint LG G2, and the deciding factor is how LG handles the root/ROM community. My current phone is the OG Photon, which Motorola permalocked the bootloader, then canceled ICS. Even unlocked, Motorola had terrible driver support, where camcorders, 4G and more would break on custom ROMs. Being on Gingerbread yet sucks, as such I refuse to buy a phone that can't be unlocked(T-Mobile has horrible coverage in my area, or I'd have bought a Nexus 4 long ago). So I'd like to see the opinions of the OG, to see how support is, and to see how easy it is to unlock. I understand how stock Android functions, but I have a Nexus 10. I'm used to 'fastboot oem unlock' and pure AOSP support/factory images and such haha. Does LG release the stock ROMs or bootloaders or anything? Does LG even use stock fastboot? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to not get burned again(Motorola.....).

I actually looked here to make sure there was development for this phone before I purchased it, Optimus G running Vectus rom makes me smile each time I pick up my phone.
Its growing by the day! I just got this phone 1 month ago and there was an alright amount of ROMs. but now in the past month there was over 6 new ROMs!! Were getting up there.

I came from the DROID RAZR, and this phone feels like a beast compared to that. Granted, Verizons network was better but I left them on principal. I haven't rooted yet, but I will in 10 more days (return period). I don't believe I will flash a custom ROM right off the bat though because the stock ROM is plenty smooth and does what it's supposed to. That's so not like Motoblur. It was almost necessary to root and flash in order to have a decent user experience on the Motorola phones (I've had 3). I'm pleasantly surprised by this phone and its stock ROM though. If you pick this phone it won't be a mistake.

Don't play with my heart like that man, lol. I know for a fact that we'll get 4.3 eventually, as well as maybe an official LG update to..... Whatever it is that they're planning on shipping the G2 with (4.2.1 or 4.2.2?). We have a flagship phone with some high end specs. If we don't get an official update for our phones from LG, it'll be because of just outright neglect.
That's what AOSP is for though, I guess.

Verizon HTC One S-Off Discussion Thread

Here is a place to discuss the current methods of S-Off.
We have Sonic2765's java card which will always work, and a promised method from beaups.
Sonic's Java Card will work on any device.
Sonic's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427960
Beaups method will work on any device even with the minor OTA that was released.
So, it seems safe to take the OTA, but I am not responsible if this is incorrect.
This is amazing! Was waiting for this since I didn't have another phone to use so I could send mine to Sonic. Also glad that beaups said that it WILL work with the latest OTA! Just glad for an exploit since my original One had to be exchanged...

That, sir, is great news. Cause I'm sick of getting reminded to update..
Any idea if he hopes to release sometime soon? Or after 4.3 is released?
More than likely after 4.3 would be my guess. We wouldn't want verizon to include a fix for the exploit with 4.3 causing a delay in the release. I don't know for sure, just my guess.

Yea, I think waiting would be a good idea.. AT&T certified their 4.3 recently and it's rolling out now.. hopefully VZW is not far behind. I need FREEDOM!!
Shame... VZ is supposed to release it at the very end of October. Personally, I would rather have it released now

I agree, most of us will be running custom roms anyway, so there would be no reason really to ota, and also no reason why someone won't just make a safe flashable zip for us after ota is released... The only way the soff method would suck is if they patched it and people with replacement after the update, or just new phone owners wouldn't be able to do it, which is kinda a big deal...
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It just needs to be released now. Everyone knows or should know not to take an ota. Ones who takes it well they deserve to possibly be blocked from the exploit. Is he waiting because there maybe issues with his method? Seemed like in the past when an exploit was found it was released rather quickly. Waiting for 4.3 on Verizon will be waiting 6 months. They never released an update when they said they would.
Just give us the root method and collect your bounty
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk 2
I don't know shall we wait until after 4.3? I suppose even if we wait nothing will stop Verizon from releasing a small ota even after the 4.3 release to patch the exploit. so waiting may not have much benefit ..

It will be released when beaups feels that it is ready to be released. He is probably taking his time to make the process as safe as possible for as many people as possible. Just because he found a method doesn't necessarily mean that it is safe and easy to use in its current form. Be patient and be glad that it exists at all.
Sent from my HTC One
Thats a valid point, I just don't see benefit in waiting. but like nexus said, they could release a small patch right after 4.3 and we would have the same outcome. or they may find this exploit before we even release it and the will just patch it in 4.3 either way. But i would like to thank beaups for putting in the time and effort! I know this stuff isn't easy so thanks!
I wish he would make a thread so people could give him thanks and he could give us updates on the process.
I'm not waiting on any vzw updates. Just need to get everything done. It will be done "soon".

Although this is typically true, they got 4.4.2 out pretty darn quick after the 4.3 update
