[Q] Disable T-mobile kit kat update notification? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I rooted my phone via the RDLV method to keep the knox counter at 0. Since T-mobile started rolling out the kit kat update, I've been having to postpone it daily. Is there a way to keep it from popping up or staying in the notification?
Even better would be a method to root kit kat without tripping the knox counter.

The cool thing would be to google your question and you would have found your answers without posting. No there is no way to stop the notifications because nobody has had the time to sit down and write the cancellation script. Updating without tripping knox has been discussed in numerous threads in MORE THAN detail. There is a method, but it is not recommended by me and others. The method is for very advanced people that are technological sound and know Android very very well. As you stand the chance to permanently brick your phone.

I turned off the software update. I have not had any pop-up notifications at all....

Whoa bro that method is for advanced users only and you might brick your phone, also there isn't any other way to do it. If you googled you would of found an answer that an answer does not exist.
But seriously all sarcasm aside thanks for sharing your easy find.

Lol. I stand corrected. that was tried before and was said that after a reset the phone would go back to asking for updates again. I'll admit i'm wrong. Hopefully this stops it permanently .

I thought it was too late for me. I turned off software update, in fact there were 2 of them, one of them(newer) can't be turned off. The notification did not go away after turning off the older version, rebooting doesn't seem to help either. Went into Titanium Backup (paid) and force closed the newer software update, and the notification went away! Then I froze the app. The freeze survived a reboot. Woohoo! The phone did reboot itself after the first reboot after the freeze however, not sure what happened there. It's been ok since.
Hopefully this thread helps someone else in my situation.

Weird Problem on my SGSIII

I seem to have the weirdest problem with my phone. After upgrading to jellybean, I've come across times where as I'm on my phone, using Bluetooth, the phone would reset. However, when the phone boots back up, the call resumes and I can continue my conversation. The call didn't drop. Also, if I'm doing something on the phone (ie, send a text message) when I switch between Wi-Fi and network, the phone freezes and I have to do a battery pull to fix it.
I took it to Sprint and the tech couldn't find anything wrong. Any help world be greatly appreciated.
I'm running an unrooted, stock version.

Only thing I could think of would be a factory data reset (which will erase everything).

Have you tried rooting it today and running FreeGS3 rom? see if that will fix it....
I had this issue when running the 10/31 kt kernel for aosp with cm10. Funny side story, I was on a conference call using a Bluetooth headset and I was muted via the dialer. I walked into a bathroom stall, started to go number 1 loudly and carelessly when my phone appeared to reboot. It didn't and it came back, on the call, unmuted. Needless to say I had to do some pinching in a hurry.
I switched kernels and the problem went away. What was unique about that kernel was that it used the latest wifi driver. I haven't tried a kernel with that driver since. Maybe you could try to downgrade your official rom and see if that helps but if try a factory reset first before doing that.

Thanks y'all. I'll try a factory reset first and see if that helps. It's good to know that I wasn't the only one having this problem.

Why do my gyroscope and accelerometer keep stopping working?

Last week I sent my N7100 to Samsung for repair on a signal problem. When I received it back, the auto rotate wouldn't work. I went into the sensor test menu (images below) and the test show the accelerometer and gyroscope not working at all.
After flashing a few times, factory resets, OTA updates, etc it still wouldn't work. I then flashed Phone, PDA and PIT in ODIN and the accelerometer and gyroscope started working.
After a couple of hours they stopped working again. I've tried exactly what I did last time and don't seem to be having any luck.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
Thanks

There's really not much you can do tbh. You've done what you could, its best you pay another visit to the service center.

Unfortunately Sammobile listed the firmware incorrectly so I loaded the wrong firmware before I sent it (I used triangle away but the flash counter went back to 1 at boot. I didn't know that until I received it back). I received it back with a note saying my warranty is void as it has modified software.
Fortunately, I eventually got the stock firmware back on the phone, used triangle away and successfully hidden all traces of modification. I contacted Samsung and told them they must have made a mistake, and told them that kies must have installed a corrupt update. They seem to have bought that and have put in a service request to have it sent to a different service centre. It's being collected in 2 days.
Hopefully I'll get away with it and they will repair/replace the phone.

Same problem here.
Hi all.
I have exactly the same problem, accelerometer not working and same screens in service menu. When I press "Gyro Selftest", it reports an error that says "Zero Rate Level Check: FAIL".
Did they fix it, and how (if they let you know)? I'd like to know if I can fix it by myself (if it's a software problem) because I don't have a replacement phone and need it daily.
Thanks in advance.
hi i'm having the same rotation problem with my note 2, on 4.3 sometimes it worked after reboot when i wiped dalvic and cache. vit only about 10 min, than it stopped. now on dn3 4.4.2 touchwiz rom its not working anymore... i have read so many forums, but no solution worked. went also back to total stock once.. has anyone solved this problem yet?

Just my usual apps. I did switch to ART but switched back to dalvik. Maybe it's because of developer mode but doubt it

Not sure why it happens but I've seen it before. Happened to my wife's gs5 coming from rooted gs4. Pull the SD card and reboot a few times and see if that fixes it. Might have to factory reset. Hers would start having FC's when that happened.

Oh okay. Thanks for the help. Just tried pulling the card and rebooting a few times still says it. Have used this card before with no issues but guess it was time. Phone is working fine will mess with it some more and reboot a few more times. Just set it up so will hold off on factory reset ha ha

You switched to ART?
Maybe he got an unlocked bootloader or root?
No, all the OP did is switch to ART. It has done this on previous Samsung phones too. Completely normal.
I switched to ART and I don't have the lock when I reboot.
Some Launchers will throw it. Are you using Apex or something similar?
That is a screen on boot indicating that the boot loader is in fact unlocked.
What does your phone say when in download mode or recovery?
This could be huge if the bootloader is unlocked.

It has happened with another phone I had. We couldn't do **** and some dude pops up with an engineering boot loader on his new phone.
Well even if it is unlocked it does do any good unless a developer figures out a way to get it on everyone else's phones. .. i really hate AT&T right now.

Well if we can get a copy of that partition we may be able to do something with it, if it's an AT&T Note 4 running it. If it can be installed on that AT&T Note 4 it may pass the signature checks or bypass them.

[Q] To Update or Not To Update, ...

Hello to all that read this,
Short:
I've been experiencing intermittent sluggishness, should I update OTA or swap device? I want to be able to jump right into root when available.
Long:
I've been experiencing annoyingly slow behavior from my baby (Note 4).
I am coming form a GS3, so I just assumed the blazing speed of this new phone, would keep me happy for at least the next 2 years.
Ex: When I press the RecentApp button, the device chugs for about 1.5+ secs. (It shouldn't be long enough to count "One-Mississippi"-style.)
When I am switching between apps, I've noticed this same chug.
I DO use Power Saver mode but currently that's on and I had a 2 sec lag, with only 3 apps open(Settings, AppDeals, Ridiculous Fishing)
Thanks for any help, in advanced!
You already know the answer, if you take an update there's a chance root will not work for you. Hell we may never get root for that matter. It's a case of damned if you do damned if you don't.
Decide and go forth my child
on a side note I changed my launcher, going with nova launcher, there's no lag especially with the recent apps Button etc might want to try that before you make a decision

I'm guessing he's talking about any hypothetical updates. Lollipop, whenever it hits will likely be the next update.
The developers are working on a crack for the firmware as it exists today. Any update will prolong the chances of getting root, perhaps fatally.

Yeah, that's what I feared thanks.
You can go into Developer Options and change the following options to .5 seconds or off that might speed things up a little:
Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animator Duration Scale

I would do the following:
1) Factory reset and only put needed apps before loading up just for testing
2) apply these tweaks http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/speed-note-4-root-t2922169
3) Still have issue swap out phone.

Remove/Disable/Block/Put an end to Nouget Software Update Notification

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520F on Marshmellow and plan to keep it on Marshmellow because I'm a dinosaur and want to stay behind alright?
Don't want to risk worse battery life, hate the new lockscreen clock, multitasking isn't a new feature for me, etc.
Basically for me personally this would be a downgrade hands-down.
However, this pesky notification won't stop popping up and I couldn't find any reliable app in the Play Store that actually blocks it 100% of the time. (Tried a few)
My device is not rooted and I would like to avoid rooting it as well, as so far I've been able to keep it that way (9 months!) despite being always jailbroken/rooted ever since my first iPhone 3G back in 2009.
Even my last android phone (Galaxy Alpha) was rooted MERELY for this stupid reason, a software update I don't want to do EVER, for any reason, that won't stop bothering me every other day.
I've looked up and tried most of everything on google, even went as far as the second search results page.
So I either searched wrong, am missing something huge, or I don't know.
If I had the time I would bother myself to create an application that removes these notifications for me somehow, however I am far too busy to do this task on my own in a reasonable amount of time.
Please Save Me.

There should be an option to disable automatic updates.
Change it manual and you should never be bothered again.

It is on manual already and the message "please download the update" keeps popping up.
I have installed Samsung's "Software Update" Application twice (from a 3rd party file manager) in order to break it and now I may see "Software update has crashed" message every other day,
While not perfect still, this makes it so I won't update by mistake and no one will be able to update for me.
Unsure what is working behind the scenes to try and force that application into working, but now it's broken enough to not be dangerous anymore.

There is an application called package disabler pro, but I prefer BL package disabler as it can also disable Knox, both work without root.
If I can remember which package you need to disable you can use one of these apps.
