Has Motorola said anything about the batery life for the Moto 360?
Anyone have prospective guesses?

Nobody really knows anything yet, from what I can tell. You might want to attend the Hangout by Motorola for this in ~23 hours, though; presumably we'll get some concrete information from it: https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/c5oghenfqmpls1i2tmug84vgk1c

I might finally be interested in a watch. Gorgeous!

looks like Moto is on the ball with this device! looks great!!

I think it will have Wireless Charging I dont see any port for charging if yes would be great

Custom watchfaces? Finally I can emulate the face from zero escape, and maybe add bluetooth functions to make team pairs and stuff

What I would be especially excited about is the possibility of using the OS to rotate the display to the perfect angle for viewing. Think about how much easier it would make the viewing angles and interaction so much better. I just hope Google patents it (defensively) before Apple does.

Price theories? It's moto so I know they're gonna try to go low.
Hoping under $150

Agreed on the Moto 360 being a gorgeous entry into the SmartWatch market. Looking forward to hearing some specs and pricing.

I'm just happy that it is 'Motorola' that had built this as I'm hopeful that the price point will be affordable.

And this is exactly what I want most. It's the thing that's kept me from buying a smartwatch up until this point.
This would completely solve the issue I have with riding the motorcycle and wanting GPS. GPS units that work for bikes start at like $300-$400, which is crazy. This I could just look at my wrist with. Just gotta keep the zipper on my jacket wrist open lol

why all moto 360 images have a black bar on the bottom?
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpY8O5Zer78&feature=share&t=13m20s it seems to have the bottom cutted out as well
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnerqDWwVgg there is nothing indicating that black bar, not on 3D images neither the clock app design, only on the ending you can see the bar http://i.imgur.com/PSElyeR.png.
- http://youtu.be/OYYag3oHh9k?t=52s it seems to have a little glow...
- On the SDK ( http://www.androidcentral.com/sites.../2014/03/wear-sdk-preview_0.jpg?itok=kTuL85Cm ) there is no black bar and the black bar on the moto 360 seems to hide the menu indicator http://developer.android.com/wear/images/screens/circle_message2.png
http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/moto-360-3.png

Unanswered Questions
The most interesting unanswered questions about the Moto 360 (or any AW device, for that matter) are: what SoC is supported/being used (presumably an ARM v7a core), what is the battery life (it had better be better than the QC Toq), what sensors are expected to be in use, what battery size and placement, are these inductively charged, how realistic/expensive is a color & round display.

or may be it will be some mechanism which will charge the watch by motion !!! remember some analog watches have that mechanism, but main thing is if so , will it be charging the watch sufficiently and quick?

Nokia's First WM7 Device

Looks like Nokia's first Windows Phone has been leaked by the CEO no less. It looks a lot like the recently announced N9, but no word on what the internal specs are. It will have to blow the current generation of phones out of the water for me to give up the Super AMOLED screen on my Focus.

Here you go, enjoy
So does anyone know if this would work on Sprint if it had the same quadband CDMA radios as the meego version? Because I would buy this immediately, if that were the case.
PS - In the long version he turns it on, and another guy comes out and demoes it.
Thanks for the links.
Looking at this unreleased phone, and looking at the already released HTC sensation 4g. All I can say is, Microsoft is in deep ****.
Deep, deep, deep ****. SMFH.
Microsoft is in a very poor situation with regard to WP7, trying to push a new OS to a market which isn't exactly dying for one, needing hundreds of phones and friendly distribution, but the video doesn't make it any worse.

Should be more coming as well.
but the here's my question....will it have a FF camera? that's the only thing I want in my next windows phone and well mango too
That's.... kinda ugly at first glance.
I don't particularly enjoy the Nx designs. Sad to see them sticking with it for wp7.
ALTHOUGH I do like the boxiness aspect. I think rounded edges are old school, boxiness is a good thing design-wise.

Or, you could say that rounded phones are a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Pulling a square-edged, boxy phone out of my pocket can be a real pain, but a phone that has nice rounded corners is not a problem at all.
And personally, boxy = ugly to me.

Since they are on-screen buttons, they can be minimized or disappear altogether during a game or open app. This would completely eliminate the accidental press of these buttons.

hey julz, thanks for coming here.
I can see at the moment the Sony works the same as the other android wear watches. The extra features will come the next update.
Do the updates come directly from Google or Sony? Did they say anything about it?
Last week the watch was shown in India and I saw in the protypes Google Fit and Runkeeper preinstalled.
I think Google Fit is not yet available to the public, right? And maybe the runkeeper app it's a special version to use the GPS and without the phone....
You can see it after 2:30 in this video:
http://youtu.be/1_FAc9bw9ic
What do you think?
And what about the wristband? Many, many people say this is a terrible watch because of the ugly black wristband. And that is unfair. The watch itself is a great piece of modern technology.
Do you run? Will you use it to track sports when the update arrives?
Thank you for being here!
Edit:
Swimming!
can we swim safely with this? Did the Sony guys tell you anything about it?
Hi, my watch has Google fit installed. It is currently just the app that shows you how many steps you've taken. Run keeper i believe is installed on your watch when you install the normal run keeper app.
Not sure who will roll out the updates but in pretty sure it's the manufacturer like your phone. Don't know about swimming with the watch, not sure why you would want to anyway.
Well it came to my attention. I saw the runkepper app in two Indian videos of the presentation and I'm pretty sure it was preinstalled, so maybe they are developing a version to be used without the phone in the next big android wear update.
To swim with the watch makes sense if you practice sport. Think about tracking the activity, as stopwatch or even to play music while you swim!!!
Or even more easy: You don't have to hide the watch in your bag while you are in the swimming pool.
Just curious about the potential. Imagine to practice sports like Triathlon or Duathlon. Makes sense for sports.

Unfortunately, it sounds like I will not be able to wear this one. Bummer, as I was really looking forward to it. I really wish they went with a standard watch band...

Hi Julz
Based on your experience, Can we really expect 2 full days of battery of moderate usage? or this is the usual marketing BS?
---------- Post added at 02:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:11 PM ----------
I'm curious about the transreflective screen.:
- In direct sunlight, how readable is it?
- are colours washed out when reflecting sunlight?
- would a normal bulb light be enough to read the contents, or the LED is on?
- Will it use the screen light on day light or only when there is not enough light to reflect?

Yes two days is achievable. Probably not necessarily 48 hours all the time but enough that by the second day you'll be at home ready for bed before you need to plug it in. The screen is similar to the SmartWatch 2 in its readability in sunlight. I'll need to double check how it looks as we just started getting some nicer weather here with some sun. When the screen is in low power mode it is easily readable indoors without the need to turn on a light. You would only need to turn on the screen in active mode if it was dark. Probably no more difficult than trying to read a book at night.
Can you pair a bluetooth, chest strap heart rate monitor to sony smart watch 3?
At this moment it works like the other wear watches. It needs the phone for everything and there isn't any app that uses the internal gps. And if you must carry the phone it makes no sense to pair the chest monitor to the watch.
But this will change with the big android wear update and the new features independent of the phone.
We have to wait a little bit more. I hope the chest monitor thing is in the plan of future stand alone fitness apps for this next generation of Android wear.
Hey, thanks for the info about the gps, I figured it must be tied in with the upcoming update, and may be a part of the delay.
Vibration Motor
Hi Julz,
Any chance you can comment on the strength of the vibration motor between the SW2 and the new SW3? I like the vibration intensity on the SW2. Tried a Moto 360's vibration motor and it is a joke - too weak!!
Thanks in advance.
The vibration motor isn't as strong as the SmartWatch 2 in my opinion. A bit more subtle but I actually prefer it as it isn't as loud and annoying but still noticeable.
Sony says in Europe that the wifi thing is a mistake.
What a joke about the launch of this watch...

Hey all
With IFA 2014 underway, we have more info on the Sony Smartwatch 3. Lets start with a hand on video
Credit to Which
Sony Smartwatch 3 key features:
Design: Sony has taken a sporty look with its latest smartwatch, with its rubber wrist band that can be swapped by popping the center watch out of its strap. While there are several colors available, they are of all the same type, so its down to Sony if any other style will become available. Its design does open up a few other possibilities than just a wrist watch, SmartPocketWatch anybody? As with most of the new wave of Smartwatches, this has no camera, for me no big deal. The device features a bright 1.6" 320x320 transflective TFT LCD display.
Android Wear: With Google's big push to unite all wearables to one operating system, Sony has provided with the Smartwatch 3. Its built around voice command and simple gestures to help with the functionality of such a small screen. It allows functions such as the ability to reply to text messages, view Email or get directions, all from the wrist!
Fitness Monitoring & Walkman: Sony has introduced a service called lifelog, this helps users monitor and develop their fitness and well being. Sony is also rolling out a new Walkman app, this will enable the pairing of Bluetooth headphones to the Smartwatch.
Lets take a look at some images of the Sony Smartwatch 3.
Looking forward to hearing members thoughts on this new design:good:

And Sony have just lost a customer.
I hate watches with none changable straps, plus it looks cheap compared to the SW2.

It's the strap that looks cheap. A full metal one is coming soon.
http://www.mobilefun.com/48552-sony-smartwatch-3-metal.htm
I hope they show it as soon as possible. Many people dislikes this watch because of the rubber strap (wich is great for sports and swimming).
Remember is the first IP68 and with GPS. Probably will be the first to fully support the extra features of Android Wear 2.
And Sony may have just regained a customer.
(Unless the LG G Watch R tempts me away, stupid name though, I may have to go for the Smartwatch 3, just because it would be a less embarrasing name to tell people if they ask what I'm wearing)
It seems is a "last minute" move from Sony.
The rubber strap gave a negative first impression in many websites and forum comments. A full metal watch+strap may atract more people.
I was Ok with rubber because it's perfect for swimming or sweating, but giving options is the right path to shine and sell more.
I'm also really looking forward to see in action the sport/multimedia features without the phone. This watch is the first of a new generation.
Bring IT ON!!!
Despite missing the heart rate sensor, in terms of specs and hackeability, this seems to be the best (specwise) smartwatch soon in the market.
The screen is transreflective, wich, for me is a plus.
Would like to know if I can buy the metalic bracelet version on the release day, or will have to buy after, but definitelly very excited about this smartwatch:

Wi-Fi?
Where did you read it has Wi-Fi?
In official specs they don't say it:

Edit:
Ok it's here: http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/SmartWatch3_SWR50_WP_1.pdf
Wi-Fi "enabled", what does it mean? normal wifi?
If it has wifi opens the door for many more things like music apps downloading music without the phone or to sync exercices directly...
It's weird they don't talk about it in Sony website...
What do you think?
Fingers crossed for the Wifi thing!

I do not think it is a tranfectif screen.
Does anyone has already seen the sw3 ON without backlight?
It is confirmed in official specs. I don't doubt of that.
But wifi is only a spec in internal documents.
In public Sony website they don't mention it. That's a mystery at the moment.
In google play, it also mentions it's WiFi Ready!!!
Also Bluetooth 4.1
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=sony_smartwatch_3_black
Bluetooth 4.1 devices can act as both hub and end point simultaneously. This is hugely significant because it allows the host device to be cut out of the equation and for peripherals to communicate independently.
For example, whereas previously a smartwatch would need to talk to your phone to get data from a heart monitor, now the smartwatch and heart monitor can talk directly saving your phone’s battery and then upload their compiled results directly to your phone. This is crucial to the Internet of Things concept: peripherals become independent and can build their own networks before bringing the collation of all their data to you.
What does WiFi ready add in? I can't wait for this watch!
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Free mobile app
It is unclear if its a mistake or not. Sony hasnt said anything about it. In the prototypes is not enabled.
We can only guess. But the potential is big. For example imagine a music service to download music before going running, or after the actitvity to sinc everything without using the phone...
Wa have to wait for the Andorid Wear 2.0 update...
Has the Nike ap already been tested? http://www.kdramastars.com/articles...-s-newest-smartwatch-release-date-october.htm

[Q] Wearing the Moto 360 while driving is a pain

Please excuse this post, if something similar has already been created, I haven't found one yet. But has anyone noticed that wearing the Moto 360 while driving is a problem, especially at night? Maybe there is a setting that I don't know about that you can turn on, but the other night, I was driving home in the dark, and every little movement with my wrist, the screen would light up, it became quite distracting, I ended up having to take the watch off. Has this happened to anyone else? Have you found a way around this? Any solutions are welcome!

I drive with mine quite a bit and don't experience this. I believe if you turn Ambient Screen off in settings, the watch is less likely to light up with small movement. It takes more of a 'look at your watch' move to make it turn on.

Since day 1, I have had Ambient Screen off, I think it's more driving at night than during the day. I was wearing a t-shirt, so the watch wasn't covered, so I noticed the screen light up often enough that it was annoying and some what dangerous. I wish they would create a driving mode, or even a mode past the 2 they have now, where the screen only lights up for notifications or if you click the crown.
This is why I don't drive with 1 arm over the top of the wheel leaning to the side.
At 10 & 2 there isn't that much of the face turning on. But I do notice it occasionally. I adjusted my arm position to stop it though
I experience exactly what you are describing. It's very annoying and I think it's a huge drain on battery.

Same here. I now take off my watch while driving. I used to with a normal watch anyway. Microsoft sync on my car handles all my notifications and med is controls while I am driving anyway so the watch is redundant.
Glad to hear I'm not the only person who experiences this. It would be really great if they would incorporate more than 2 screen functions, like always off except for notifications. That would also help a ton with battery life for some people.
9 and 5 with a black watchface. No issues.
What I do is flip the watch over to my wrist. Helps a little.

NOW this thread makes sense
I noticed this myself right away my first day. It hasn't been distracting for me fortunately, Android Wear definitely needs a car mode.
Oh man, that is dangerous! I mean driving with bright light coming on your left side? Google needs to be notified of this. You should email Android blog site, like Android Central.

That is exactly how I drive.
It activates itself every now and then, mostly when turning. I don't really care though, at the end of the day, it impacts the battery by maybe 5%.

Can't tell if you're joking or not.. but driving at night with little street light (some freeways in the CA are like that) and have a full-blast white light coming suddenly is a distraction.
I had Llama on my Note 3 and configured it incorrectly and one time, it put the brightness at 100% (suppose to be 10% at night) and it's quite blinding when it happened suddenly at 75 Mph.
Of course, I don't have the watch yet (coming this week!), so I don't know how bright this is.
I just drove 1 hour on a road so twisty that it is impossible to go the posted 45 mph limit. At 4am, It's so dark you could see the milkyway clearly...my 360 turned on 3 times and two of them were when making 90 degree right hand turns. I wasn't bothered, but ymmv.

Change it to a black watch face.
Why not just mute the watch... That's what I do while driving.
Agreed

Yes and it is annoying. Everytime you turn the wheel it lights up. There doesn't appear to be a setting to change its behavior (though if you mute it at least notifications don't pop up at you).

This. Screen doesn't light unless you tap it.

screen always on huawei gt.

Hi,
i have huawei gt.
is the any way to put the screen always on and not only 5 minutes
No, that option It’s not available
then you’ll complain about battery life.
Isnt any hack to make this work? Thanks
Honestly an always on display on a watch is highly uneeded. you do not look at the screen ALL DAY. My Watch gets 12-14 days of battery and i absolutely love it. I have 0 issues with it compared to the Fossil/OG huawei watch i had. Wear OS needs alot of improvement. The huawei os could easily use improvements, especially in the notifications and the apps that send them, give spotify integration and ill be happy. A watch should be used as a breif notification tool not a phone imho
Thats Your opinion. I think have the choice to decide that os highly needed
I'll tell you why always on display is useful - I have amazfit pace with transreflective lcd - I can't count how many times per day I just do a quick look at the watch on the wrist of the hand e.g. lying on the desk while I'm working - without AoD I would have to lift up my hand and turn it with watch up or press the button with the other hand. Thanks but no.
Ok but i like this option. I just Im asking for that option. You dont understand what i am saying.
For the watch to be perfect, it just need to have an AOD mode and be open custom watch faces designing, it's silly they didn't implement those two from the beginning. What, instead of 12 days we got about a week's worth of battery? c'mon that's still best in class!!!

There're no other watches with same characteristics, this is the only watch to have this crazy battery life. I had the original huawei watch and having AOD with a custom watchface tuned for AOD having >95% of the screen in black, kind of like the watchface "GrayPlating", but without the seconds hand, it didn't really hurt battery life as much thanks to the screen being amoled, like the one in the Watch GT. So, I don't know what they are waiting for. Also, there should be an option to tune the sensitivity of wrist rise detection, because mine is lighting the screen with very casual movements all the time! and that's hurting battery life as much as having a AOD with a tuned watchface, so implementing that would get us AOD almost for free!

Firmware version 1.0.8.34 just installed, and they implemented some kind of AOD!!! it was a pretty obvious move. Basic AOD with just an option for a digial watchface, or an analog one. On the plus side I love the analog one, it's quite sleek and clean, I wish I could set it as a regular watchface too! if you set AOD the wrist movement to wake is disabled... instead that makes the screen go from the lowest brightness setting, to the pre-set amount -or auto-. They also added a double-tap on the screen to wake. Cool to see they are rolling stuff little by little.
They should really open watchfaces design via a phone/desktop app or some sort of converter from watchmaker. I would pay for that, it'd make this watch perfect.
This watch became usable now.
I will be curious how will it impact on the battery life. Hopefully not a lot.
What I've noticed though, after update and with AOD on raise to wake doesn't work I have to press the button. Is it meant to be like that?

Yeah, I guess the logic behind it was, if it's going to have an AOD watchface, and still wake up with random/casual wrist movements -false positives-, the impact on battery life would be even higher. You can double tap the screen to wake it up though.

Mine's going down at about 20% per day, with continuous heartbeat monitoring and TruSleep tracking on. I also do about 3-4hrs of exercise/week, so if it last for 5 days under this kind of usage it's all fine with me.
BTW it's also confirmed that they are going to publish an SDK for third-party development of watchfaces. Can't wait for that, hope it's full fledged, or even better, directly compatible with watchmaker's.
Someone can post a picture of the watch in this new AOD mode ?

Here you go, imho the digital one could do without the lines, and the numbers could be a bit thinner to reduce the number of pixels lit. Hope the upcoming sdk let us design AOD faces.
