Can i turn off magnets?? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. As i work at a aluminum factory there is a lot of magnetic field around.
I owned a LG G2 for a while and the screen got into Quick View mode when I walked on to the factory floor. But you can turn the magnets off in the settings. My friend has Moto G with the same problem. But he can't turn his magnets off.
My question is obviously, can I turn off the magnets on the new HTC One? Thanks ?

Ehm, I don't think so man... There is no option to disable it

It's a shame as so many people work with some kind of magnetic field around the world . Would be so easy to have a option to disable it. Like LG does. O well..

Also had to cut the one clip that was off center. It also doesn't have the smart cover ability.

Yes, I also have the original LG Quick Cover. It states in description that it doesn't support it.

Wonder if its for the the F-240 (I think thats 's the Korean model number for the OG Pro)
Anyway, the free black one they sent me for pre-ordering mine is supposed to support it. Guess I'll try it out sometime though I'll never use it. (Just don't like the flip covers, but that's just me.)

Yes, that one you got supports it fine. I have that one also. The other one Is probably for the F-240. The one with the antennae.
Unfortunately thus one doesn't support that quick cover ring.

For those of you with AT&T our flip cover does support wireless charging. I bought the LG WCP-300 charging disc and it works perfectly with my flip case.
Original back casing and the AT&T Flip Case both support wireless charging. Also using the LG WCP-300. On my N4 it made noises when starting and finishing charges. No beeps when charging the LG OGP.

I have to admit that this is a great feature to have, I cant believe the s4 and HTC one doesn't have this out the box but to be fair there is a kit for the s4

I put the Flip Cover on this weekend. It makes the phone a little thicker, but very nice to hold. Wireless charging also works good. Since it turns the screen on/off automatically it will help keep the power button from wearing out, as well. :good:
Can you please provide the link to where you purchased it please thanks

I have this case as well, and it even works with CM 10.2!
Is there any way to protect the back cover? I'd rather have a TPU or some sort of actual protection, but for all the beauty of this case, the back cover doesn't increase protection from drops or scratches.
Anyone used a skin with it?

Wireless charging and case?

I've got the wireless charging battery cover from Verizon on my phone. It makes the phone a bit thicker. I was wondering if there were any cases out there that can accommodate the extra size. I currently use a Cruzerlite case that I cut a little bit to allow expansion but I'd like something a bit cleaner.
TIA for any input!

You can get wireless charging inlays that fit inside the original battery lid and as such don't increase the thickness of the device
Interesting, never heard of that. Do you have a link?

They're practically impossible to miss, just search ebay or any number of other places for "s3 qi inlay"
Has anyone experienced any issues with the inlays? I just got a wireless qi charger and the Verizon rear case for the phone and have just been putting up with the added thickness. I wouldn't mind considering the inlays though.

They make it a bit thicker and bow the back out very slightly.
To those who currently have a qi wireless charger. Few questions as I'm about to get one.. Does the charging pad get warm? Is it ok to keep plugged in or could it be a possible fire hazard? Stupid question, I know, but I have a hard time trusting cheap stuff from china, lol. Does wireless charging charge as fast as USB? Thanks!

Occasionally. Yes it's fine. And it depends on the pad and the receiver on your phone. Mine is 650mA so it's slightly faster than USB

I wouldn't skimp on the stuff tho. I spent like $50 for my charging pad. Its got two spots and it's made by Energizer.

the pad can get warm but it's fine.
it's not going to blow up or anything.
you can also keep an eye out for the dt500 charging pad that nokia has for the lunia series. they go on sale often for $25.

1. Slightly warm when in use.
2. Yes, it's fine to leave it plugged in. My one at my office desk sits on top of a pile of papers and hasn't set anything on fire yet.
I personally own this receiver (which I use with this pad, though my pads are black rather than white), which works well though my lifeproof case. No dice with the Otterbox Armour case though.
I'd recommend avoiding this charger. It doesn't work worth a damn through a case and constantly connects/disconnects.
I have the same receiver inlay as compo01, using it with a variety of pads, including an official Samsung S4 one that I modded into an ugly but functionally awesome dock

I have the ghost charger that they sell at Verizon. I woke up this morning and my phone showed 116 F. Is that super hot for a phone?

seems unnaturally hot... is there any metal in between your phone and the charger?

my phone gets warm during the initial charging but once it hits 100% it cools down real fast. I can think of only one other thing in this case.. you might not be aligned correctly.. but i would not think that's the case since you seem to be able to get to 100% with no problem...
I have the Verizon and the monster watts WiQiQi kit. I mainly use the Verizon back cover even though it means I can't put a case on. The WiQiQi is a nice kit but when I use it with my preferred case, one with a stand , The screen distorts and bulges. But I put the WiQiQi in my fathers phone with an otterbox and he has no issues.

Magnets in Cases and the Nexus 5 ... Turns It On!

Hi all,
Do we know the dangers of using a pouch with a magnetic closure? I noticed today that it turns the phone on. That seems dangerous to the battery! Is this because of NFC?
OA
EDIT: Guess is a built in feature, never knew that!

The Nexus 5 has the same feature as has been in the Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 which is the ability to turn on the screen automatically when a magnet passes over it. Many Nexus 7 cases have a magnetic clasp that unlocks it when opened. It's nothing to worry about.
Thanks that's good to know.

The official flip case? https://play.google.com/store/devic...er_for_Nexus_5_Black?id=lg_nexus_5_case_black
All my phones have done this. I figured it was just a negative part of using magnetic pouches.

Will non-brand nexus 5 flip covers wake the phone?

Just as my title states, I'm curious If the lg quick cover uses a special magnet, and if not will non-brand cheap flip covers also wake the phone on opening? Would save a lot of money if so.
Sent from my Optimus G using Tapatalk
Depends on the cover. If it has a magnet it should wake the phone, but not all covers have magnets.
If it doesn't work, use this or something similar. Just tested. It works.

I second this.
You just need the cover to have a magnet on the top left. Try it, find any magnet and place it near the top left of your Nexus 5's screen
this sleep and wake up functionality is related to magnet only...so it does not rely on it whether you are using a brand case or a non brand case...so smile....you can go up with a non brand one too....

Thanks
5 Days to Christmas...
As others have said: so long as the case has a magnet in the right place you're golden.
Personally I have an Orzly case and it works perfectly for screen on/off.

I'm surprised a third party hasn't made a metal back replacement for the 360....I don't see why it would be so hard to do

It would have to be removable to charge. Wireless charging can't conduct through metal.
