FAQ
Q: Why Odexed, isn't deodexed better for theming?
A: Yes, deodexed is easier to theme since all necessary files are contained within the apk. However, odex standing for optimized dalvik executable is exactly that, optimized. Because of this odex is faster and more efficient.
Q: Why does my phone reboot on the first boot?
A: I wanted to debloat the ROM, but not remove apps that users may want. My solution was to write a script that runs on first boot and freezes ~65 apps or so. In this script I wrote a reboot command to sort of clean things up after freezing. This script also self destructs so following the first boot, it deletes itself to assure it never runs again.
Q: Will this ROM be packed full of tweaks and modifications in the future?
A: No. It's my opinion that with the plethora of modifications available via xposed framework, that packing a ROM with those same options is unnecessary and redundant. In addition, I think its best to leave it up to the user to decide which mods they want in the ROM. Regarding "tweaks," I am open to suggestions of mods that people find generally useful. However, if these changes cause issues in the ROM then they will be removed. I will be including a custom settings menu in the future, ideally embedded in the developer options to keep with the incognito nature of the ROM. This menu will only contain modifications not possible/present with xposed modules.
Q: How can I tell which version of the ROM I'm running?
A: Remember what you flashed. Again, to keep with the incognito nature of the ROM, you will not see any labeling or branding anywhere in the ROM. Settings>About phone will look exactlty as if you were running a stock ROM.
Q: Will you remove the ugly Verizon boot animation?
A: No. Again, I want this ROM to appear as stock as possible. I will however enable the end user with the ability to change the boot animation as they desire.
Q: How often will this ROM be updated?
A: As long as there are no bugs, not very frequently. This ROM is designed to provide a simple, stable, enhanced stock experience that can be reliably used for extended periods of time. However, if bugs pop up, then I will do my best to fix them right away.
Q: What is your build number convention?
A: x.x.x Base changes.Feature additions.Bug fixes. e.g. the KitKat build, when it comes, will be 2.0

Thanks, Cool I'll give it a try... Good to see a new ROM coming.

Nice one. Good to see a nav bar in a rom. I know we can activate it with the build prop, but I like it toggled in a rom.

Just to clarify, its not enabled by default. I simply edited the SystemUI.apk so that it could be enabled via the standard build.prop edit or via GravityBox (or possibly some other xposed module). Also note, the navbar uses the AOSP orientation and icons so back is on the left and recent apps is on the right.

True. I tried gravity box on stock and it narsed me up with a system ui force close loop. I have it manually coded into the build prop at the moment.

I just looked at my transition animation scale and its different than the others, suggesting it didn't stick. I'll look into finding the fix before the next release.
Edit: @I-go, can you tell me which ROMs you know that definitely don't have this issue? It looks like a bug that's been present since the 4.3 update on the S4 and N3 but I want to see who else I can reach out to about a fix.

Just curious what makes it only compatible with the retail version? Are bootloaders included?

Actually, I don't know that it is only compatible with the retail version. It will probably work with the dev edition as long as the kernel is flashed. The current version does not include the boot.img. However, the version I'm working on does since Safestrap won't flash the boot.img anyway, at least that's my understanding.
The OP is a work in progress. I'll be updating things later and I'll change the instructions.

I would be using TWRP not safestrap I think TWRP will actually attempt to flash the boot.img if its included. I think I would cry giant crocodile tears if I flashed a locked bootloader on my DE lol.
Edit: This is what I`m running now

Yeah, TWRP will definitely flash the boot.img. However, I believe the boot loader and boot.img are separate entities.

Porting Information and Credits
Virtuous Unity, or any components therein, may not be ported to other devices without explicit email approval from the development team. We will be approving ports, presuming the develop of a given port is ready and willing to follow the same revision control and release processes currently employed existing devices.
hrk - Allowing use of ghostySMS Vision version.
cypis - For his awesome Unity-banner
robocik - Tips regarding APK compression.
Sybregunne - Virtuous Overclock Controller GUI.
HTC/Google- For building such a good base system.
Important Notes
If you are experiencing random freezes and/or reboots, this is likely due to your device being incapable of handling our overclocking defaults. Download and apply this flashable patch, which will reduce the maximum CPU frequency to 1Ghz and likely eliminate this issue.
You must complete a full wipe prior to installing this ROM the first time. We also recommend wiping between upgrades, but you are welcome to try upgrading without a wipe. However, no support will be provided if you file a bug without having wiped prior to submission.
Bugs and Errors
To ease the process of reporting bugs to the team, we made a public bugtracker where you can report the bugs you found. Please make sure you read all the existing entries there to avoid doubling the errors.
The bugtracker is located here.

Download Patch to v1.31.x to v1.31.3
(Fixes: In-Call Mic, Mobile Data, Boot Loops, Voice Search)
Update Radio, Touchpad Firmware, Clockwork Recovery
This is the firmware which accompanies the FOTA. You can apply the update before or after installing the ROM. If you're having trouble flashing the ROM in the first place, then apply this first.
Download this PG32IMG.zip (MD5:de10c06482eaf9b3d0d058b607e2568c)
Place it on your sdcard.
Reboot into the bootloader. There are many ways to do this: Run 'adb reboot bootloader' or power down the device completely, hold the volume down and hold the power button to turn it back on.
Select bootloader from the menu.
You will see a green verification bar along the right side of the screen, push volume up when prompted to verify the update.
Profit.
Current Known Issues (updated 8/2/2011, 9:00PM PST)
Some users stuck in reboot loops. (Fixed in v1.31.2).
MMS not working. (See post #3 for a workaround)
Voice Search causes a crash. (Fixed in v1.31.2)
Visual voicemail is absent and will not install from the Market. (Invalid, could not reproduce)
I'll start working on these. I'm fairly convinced the boot loop issue is kernel related. It's the most critical of the 3 and the one I'll focus on first.
Instructions to fix MMS (by xelsewherex)
Go to the market and download apn backup and restore (Market Link APN B&R).
Create a folder on your sdcard named APNBackupRestore if it doesn't exist already.
Copy this file to APNBackupRestore folder (If you aren't doing this on desktop, hit menu now in xda and choose browser. File is an xml and your phone will not know what to do with it. Long press the link and use 'save link').
Run APN Backup Restore and press Delete Apns and then Restore from the downloaded file.
You should be good to go from there. MMS should now work and the softkey lights do as well.
Nice!! Downloading now!
Good job rmk!

I have a silly question but when u flash a new Rom. And it comes with its own kernel. Such as this one. When u decide to revert back to ur original Rom does it also flash ur original kernal back or does that have to be flashed separately in itself? Sorry for the trivial question I assure ya I'm not a complete noob
So this is diffrent then the last version ? Anyone test this out yet ?

Your kernel will be what came with either Rom stock. Reverting to old Rom will also revert to the kernel that came with said Rom

I disagree, especially when I can't stand the Rosie launcher. That is why I mostly run AOSP ROMs but to each his own. I do like elements of Sense 3.0 though.

[ROM][VLDLK4] seeARMS' ROM v0.3 (12/29)

12/29/12 - v0.3 is out. Added extended power menu, 15 toggle mod, and replaced the stock email with AOSP email.
12/27/12 - v0.2 released. A minor update: S Suggest was removed and OTA updates added
12/19/12 - v0.1 - Initial release!
Hello XDA.
Welcome to seeARMS' custom stock ROM. This ROM is based on the official VLDLK4 Bell release. The purpose of this ROM is to provide a functional, high-performance custom ROM with excellent battery life, without sacrificing any features which turn your smartphone into just a phone. This ROM is certainly not a barebones ROM with the majority of apps removed; nor is it a feature-packed ROM with a ton of unnecessary things bogging down your phone. Instead, this ROM opts to be in the middle: it provides a good balance of features and performance.
If you have any questions before, during, or after flashing this ROM, please read the first few posts, as I'll try to be answering the majority of common issues / questions users may have. If, after reading them, your question remains unanswered, then please post in this thread ensuring you're as detailed as possible.
Also, if you have any feature requests, please feel free to let me know.

Note: If you'd like to install any of these removed apps, see the 2nd post for instructions.
If you like this ROM and are interested in supporting me, then a simple "Thanks" would suffice. Also, please try to help out others on the XDA forums - we were all newbs once, and it can be quite overwhelming, being introduced to everything Android.
Oh, and the mandatory, "like my work, buy me a beer" way of supporting would also be cool.

Need details on what you are removing ??? Most of it is self explanatory otherwise Google is your friend or reply to this thread, I will get back to you.
As committed in past, I will update OP with details on each apk once I get some time.
There are many checkboxes pre-selected which can be removed without any probs (atleast in my opinion). In my knowledge everything works, even Kies
Make sure to have Nandroid backup before you run it.
Benefits:
1. Insane Battery life, obviously Less running apps
2. Trim any ROM you want with easy options
3. Bloat any ROM as many times we install custom ROMs and miss one or another apk, Trim/Bloat any ROM will help easy installation of removed apk.
4. Fully customized with aroma
Steps to install:
1. Download TrimAnyRom and copy .zip to External SDCard.
2. Make Nandroid Backup of ROM.
3. Boot into Recovery (TWRP Recomemded)
4. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
5. Install ZIP
6. Reboot System
7. Enjoy

Add-On:
Samsung Kies: I usually need Kies for syncing outlook with my S3, sometimes it doesn't work in few ROM due to pre-deleted files.
Also, if you use my app and do full debloat, it deletes kies features.
Anyway, I made recovery flashable ZIP for installing all needed files into S3.
You can download it from HERE
Note: I am not a DEV but an IT Engineer started learning new stuff.

You mean create another custom zip for installing selected apps ?
Great idea op! I was thinking of something like this after I tried the Slim rom and seen how responsive and snappy the os runs without all the extra apks.

UPDATE: Now this app will not only Trim ROM but can also Bloat ROM with apps you want
Menu will ask if you want to DE-BLOAT or BLOAT.
No matter what custom rom you are running, as far as its T-Mobile SGS3 running Stock based Custom or Stock Rooted ROMs, this tool will work well.

Since you're specifying "stock based custom" roms, I'm assuming this rules out any CM based (CM, AOKP, AOSP, PA, etc). Or is it possible to add some of this bloat to a CM rom also?

I believe Most of it should work except Samsung optional category. They are closely tied with Samsung framework. You may give a try for other and let us know if works.
It doesn't harm as far as you have backup.

Works on DARTHSTALKER S3 EDITION VERSION #7 ROM.....thanks mate awesome tool....rid my TMO SGS3 of lots un-needed apps.
This is awesome! I'm going to give this a try.
OP, Is it possible to have two separate zips instead? A debloater and a bloater? The download for the debloating guys like me is too much. Lol. Also if you needed to update either zip, it wouldn't be both parties that would have to redownload. Not a huge deal, but if you would consider the option it'd be nice.

[ROM][4.3.1] PsiRom - linaro||performance rom||viper audio[11/06/13]

Android 4.3.1 ROM based on Cyanogenmod 10.2 nightlies
Tweaked for performance and battery life while retaining a stock CM experience. This rom is for the people out there who love CM and want to see it fly.
Want to see this rom go even faster? Use Nova or Apex launcher, and, inside developer options, set window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale all to 0.5x.
Additions like HALO are not included to keep the bloat down, but can be included in future releases upon popular demand. I'm open to all suggestions or requests.
Changes from CM:
performance tweaks
network speed tweaks
sd read/write tweaks
other build.prop changes
zipaligned
init.d script support
uber kernel
compiled with linaro
custom boot animation
Viper Audio
removed stock apps:
CMFileManager.apk
CMWallpapers.apk
DSPManager.apk
LiveWallpapers (removed all live wallpapers, but live wallpaper picker left in place so you can still use your own)
(Think any other stock apps are just bloat and can be removed? Let me know)
Installation Instructions:
Warning: by installing this rom you accept all risks of modifying your phone. If anything goes wrong, whether it be bricking the phone or Godzilla attacking you, you take full responsibility.
Must be on a newer recovery and baseband, same deal as all other 4.3 roms.
1. Download the rom and 4.3 GAPPS to your phone.
2. Full wipe (cache, dalvik, system and data) if coming from a different rom or Android version, only cache and dalvik wipe if upgrading from a previous version of this rom or from stock CM
3. Install the rom
4. Install the GAPPS
5. Install any other kernels or mods you like (I'm personally a fan of the Fly On Mod)
6. Reboot. Wait until it finishes and boots up fully
Optional: 7. Give it 10 minutes to settle.
Recommended: 8. Install TricksterMod and change the governor from interactive. I prefer InterectiveX or OnDemandX, both of which go nicely with sio

Viper Audio Tips
Run the Viper app to set up the audio. You can choose between regular ound quality, super quality, or battery saving quality.
If you want to use any other sound mods along side Viper (I'm a fan of Noozxoide), be sure to go into the Viper app, hit the settings key and turn on the "compatible mode"
Want better sound quality? Check out the Impulse Response Sampling starter pack here: http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=115
Head to Viper's homepage for more info about this awesome mod: http://vipersaudio.com/blog/
Special Thanks: To Cl3Kener, for his Uber kernel and his awesome Develop Now! guide.
To Team Chopsticks, and the Cyanogenmod crew.

To Samsung, Google, XDA, and anyone else I forgot to mention (let me know and I'll add you to the list)

There's an issue with the current version that may cause some overheating and lowers performance, building a fixed version now. It should be up soon!
By the way, themes used in the screenshot (not included since they're from the Play store) Hologlass [beta] (which is free) and Minimal UI for the icons (costs 1.50, and is worth it). Launcher is Nova Launcher.

Lol, what?
EDIT: OP updated with new download link (or get it here: https://copy.com/zaO810YHgIMG ). I'd recommend wiping system if you've already flashed 10-23-13 (data should be fine, doesn't need to be wiped).
Thanks for providing us with yet another choice to flash. If I end up in rehab because I can't quit flashing I'm going to blame all the XDA Dev's.
I did a full wipe while installing but during the initial set-up I kept getting SOD's and freeze ups. I wiped and re-flashed several times but ended up with the same results. Any suggestions on what to try next? Thanks again for this.
That's odd, I didn't have any issues with the initialization thing. Is it locking up on a specific page? Maybe try giving it a few minutes to settle, then reboot and initialize once it starts back up again. This might be an issue with how the rom is using the default governor, performance is oddly bad until you change it from interactive.

That makes sense. I've read where some ROMs don't perform well until you change the governor. Through out my attempts I was able to get to the home screen only once. I usually let it settle for 5 minutes. I'll let it settle for 10 and see how it goes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Edit: Still no go. Same thing as before. I made it as far as downloading Trickster and was able to change the governor and it ran for a few minutes then froze on me. Not sure what else to do.
That's really odd, I've been running the rom just fine :/ It's freezing up after initialization as well? But still, thanks for still trying out the rom and letting me know about the issues Building a new version now, it should be posted early tomorrow. Changes include cm update, linaro update, and even more build.prop tweaks. It should be much faster than the current version!
Edit: On a side note, mind if I ask which recovery and gapps you're using? I'm on twrp 2.6.1.0, with the regular 20130813 signed gapps, and lag at initialization was noticable but not cripplingly bad. No freezes or reboots for me either :/
Edit again: New download link is up in the op, or get it here: https://copy.com/dgUwgEErqVnl
Let me know how the performance is!
New version seems to be much quicker than before! I tried a full wipe with it and had no lag at all, not even with the default governor.

New twrp being 2.6.1.3 or .4? I've heard some people complain about issues with it, from what I could tell 2.6.1.0 seemingly being more stable. But the newest update for the rom is much more responsive, just give it a try and let me know how it goes

Q: What happened to the developer options?!?!?!
A: Settings->More->About device->Smash 'Build number' until it pops up!
Q: Why is WiFi broken?
A: Flash the insecure kernel, or do a FULL WIPE next time!
Q: Why did you name this ROM "Sultan"?
A: Because it's going to be Sultan-like once it starts evolving.

Yeah, more people need to make forum apps. Tapatalk is just.... wow. The XDA app is better but it still has it's own shortcomings.
Anyway, this ROM definitely is going to go through a bunch of changes. An Aroma installer will be added later, since it's a pain to make them. I can't wait till more mods are made by various people like loserskater and enewman17. They're awesome at that! Expect a whole lot more in the next coming months/weeks! TW 4.3 has a long way to go!
