Kit Kat killed battery monitoring - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

So I just realized Kit Kat killed GSAM battery stats so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a work around or a battery monitoring app that works with Kit Kat. What is it with Google these days anyway, For open source android sure is getting awfully closed.

Better Battery Stats seems to work for me. Buy it in app store or get it free at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809

[Q] App install date

Is there any way to tell what date an application was installed and/or last updated?
I'm running RandomROM Thunderhawk, and was getting really good battery life until about a week ago. I'm guessing that I installed something that's killing my battery, but can't figure out what.
If it's not app related, is there any chance it could be related to Sprint trying to push out their latest update?
Thanks in advance.

Not unless you are constantly getting the notification. Get Betterbatterystats and check your processes and wakelocks for large and unusual usage.
Haven't gotten any notifications, but I'll check out betterbatterystats. It'll be worth the $3 if I get my battery life back!
Thanks.

Its free to xda users... trick is you gotta search and find it...

I'd already dropped the $3, not a big deal.
For what it's worth though, I figured out that Titanium pro can sort the apps by install or update date.
Maybe it can help someone else down the road.

AppBrain (free app from the market) can tell the install/update date as well

[Q] Battery Issue with sync

I have searched the forum and couldn't find a thread about this issue, hence opening a new one.
I bought my Galaxy Nexus few weeks ago.. The issue is:
My battery seems to drain very fast when 'sync' is on. During night time I tested and results are as follow:
What might be the reason for the same? I am running stock 4.0.2 rom.
Any help??

Will this work for sure? I wasn't eager to flash a yakju/takju build right now specially with the signal issues with someone on 4.0.4.

No, it will not work for sure. You should give us some more information and the screenshots of your usage. You probably have some sort of wakelock going on. Use something like Better Battery Stats and monitor those first.

the battery is draining even when I am not using it all. Is battery drain @ 4-5% per hour is okay when not using the phone at all?

I think I am losing my mind.

I have been looking at all of the roms that are out for the E980 and as soon as I like one, one or another of the functions don't work. I am new here so trying to weed through all the forums is mind numbing. I have tried the search button and all that does is bring up more question. What I am trying to find is a soild custom rom to which everything just works and a clear guide to follow. Sorry if I sound *****y but one rom post alone has over 50 pages and the more I read the more I am banging my head on what to and what not to do. Could someone please have pity on a old man and just guid me to the right rom?

Well... There is no right rom. It's a matter of preference. Do you want a basic rom. One that's close to stock? Or a feature filled one. That has every possible option you could want.

The Rom is great but it is draining the battery way to fast. I am in construction and may not be able to get power. Is there a fix for this?
The RadeonMaya stock 4.4 remod works great and has the best battery life available for this device. Being 4.4, it has a lot of extra features and customizations. Only drawback is speakerphone doesn't work.

hello Mighty Loki,
You have practical options,
1. buy 2 or 3 extra oem 3140 mah battery on ebay for 8 bucks a piece.
2. buy a portable Power Bank such as Anker 6000 mah with 2 Ampere Output on Amazon sale for 30 bucks.

Thanks for the suggestion but I may have spoke to soon. I forgot that I did not charge last night and I am still at 35%, so that is not to bad when you consider that the phone was downloading apps and restoring everything.

Does Bluetooth work, and the reason why I'm asking is, I charged the phone all night and with in 6 hours it was down to 35% and I was not really using it. Now I have a question, Could the speakerphone lines of code be extracted from the stock rom and used to fix? I by no means a programmer I am just trying to understand Android OS.
Okay which custom rom has the best battery life?

Battery life is best determined after a few days of settling in .... About 3-4 full charge cycles........then if it sucks ...change and try another ROM setup.

I found Facebook to be battery hungry whether on LG's rom or CM. It refused to hibernate on greenify's command. The solution that worked for me was deleting Facebook.
And also monitoring apps behavior in general, wakelocks, etc. I put yahoo weather on a few days ago and the app racked up like 500 wakelocks in the first few hours.
I improved my battery life by restoring my DD, Stock 4.1.2 Nandroid. I can't see getting this much standby/screen combined time on our official KK, yet. Plus, I had issues with lagging and bugs (such as constant playback errors with Google Play All access). The only thing I miss is the greatly improved Stereo Bluetooth quality in 4.4 vs v the too-bad-to-listen on 4.1. If anyone could tell me if/how to edit those libs/files I'd not even care if I ever get stable KK on the e980. Anyway, organic battery usage.
I'm gonna let it run till dead and predict 72+hours with 4+ screen.

I was also getting severe Android OS battery drain for the last few days. I lost 60% battery life in just 3 hours!
I fixed it by "recalibrating" (or at least I saw it called this elsewhere on the internet) my battery. I simply used my phone until the battery died and my phone automatically shut off. Then I kept trying to power on the phone until it stopped attempting to turn on (this just makes sure your battery is truly dead; i doubt this does anything useful though). Then with the phone off, I charged until 100%, then continued charging another 2 hours (to make sure battery is really full). Then I turned on the phone. After this, I am getting excellent battery life and Android OS is using far less battery.

EDIT: No longer true. The issue eventually came back and has been plaguing me since.

Since mine is used for work and can't root, I took the update and it's only been a few hours, but battery life seems the same. The update even says to let it settle in for a day or 2. I will see how this weekend goes.
