Google play music is really pissing me off - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Like the title says.
Is there any way to have the music I have bought on the play store to be on my internal storage to be readable by other apps and devices?
I always played my music I downloaded from other places through my Xbox by just plugging my phone into it. But I uploaded my music to Google play so that it would be synced to my tablet. Now I can't do that at all without dlna (which I can't play while playing a game). There has GOT to be a workaround or something, I can't be the only one with this sort of problem......

You should be able to grab mp3s from the play store. You should also be able to strip the DRM tags with e.g. eye3d. This requires that you own the music and you'd still have to transfer it to your (emulated) sdcard.
Besides that I can recommend subsonic + dsub. It's an awesome tool to stream / play music and it can stream e.g. to a chromecast. It might be possible to use it in jukebox mode, which means you'd need a raspberry pi or alike and you could play your lib with it. But I have not yet tried that (I have a chromecast ).
Basically: If you don't know how you are going to play your music in 5 years don't buy from crippled stores. And noone known how to play songs in 5 years from now.

Thanks for trying to help. I used the play music downloader in PC and put my library on my storage. A few songs are showing up twice in my play music app, but not all. I can live with this I guess. Hopefully Google makes this easier in the future.

Home music library on EVO to go?

Is there anyway to have access to the music on your computer hdd with your EVO using 3G or WIFI? 8-32 GB is not enough to store a real music library IMO, and it's an inconvenience to have to constantly swap music in and out. It would be cool if a program would allow you to navigate through your computer's music in a similar way to if it were directly on the MicroSD and if playback to the EVO could be achieved with little or no quality loss.
Does anyone know if this is something that can be currently done or is this even possible at all?
if you have good upload bandwidth at home, you could use orb (not free).
if you happen to have a netgear readynas, there is a new addon that can transcode (audio/video) on the fly and stream directly from your nas.
Personally I just use last.fm to stream (or pandora depending on my mood).
try googling online media library or something. I am sure there is an app that is built for something to that effect. Or depending on how frisky you are, you could build a simple file sharing website w/ password protection.
google bought simplify media awhile back, hopefully they will re-release under 'google media' or something similar for android media streaming.
I have been using g-mote on my EVO and it works pretty well. You have to know your outside IP address and need to forward the ports for g-mote server to your internal IP. It is in beta and it crashes every once in a while but seems to work well for me.
Edit: If you search for gmote on the market, it is called Gmote 2.0 made my Marc Stogaitis & Mimi Sun. It is also a cool way to use your phone to control music and movies on your computer and use your phone as a touchpad for your computer.
I use Orb Live, works great for Audio. I read bad reviews about video streaming but, I don't do that so I don't know.
There's a mac and windows server.
Wow...Orb Live is much better that gmote, just installed. $9.99 on the Market and worth every penny. Is taking a long time to index my 85,000+ songs though.

[Q] DLNA in Xperia Play

Hi All,
Does Xperia Play support DLNA, because I see it as listed in gsmarena but nothing in Google on how to configure and stream via DLNA.
Anyone tried it and use DLNA to stream video / game / photos.
The phone is awesome but lack to HDMI or TV Out means the only option is to stream via DLNA if it supports, can someone confirm.

We have an app called Media Server ("Servidor de Medios" for me) and I believe it let's you play movies/music/images. I haven't tried it once since I stream directly from my PC to my PS3.
But forget about games, it's been discussed a lot that people is disappointed because we can't play our games in a bigger screen.
So yes, we have DLNA but it won't let you stream your screen. It'll let other devices connect to it and play media files on your phone.
Hi netorino,
Thanks for the reply, so we can stream movies and photos is it, that is still good enough.
Where I can try this app, I couldn't find it in the Android market.
I would want to try this and see how it works.

It's pre-installed. I'm not 100% sure on the english name but that should be it.
The way I do it on PC-PS3: Activate software on PC to let streaming. Go on PS3 and look for videos and search for new devices (every time) then it'll show me the hard drive and I'll browse through the folders.
I'm thinking it's the same thing. Open the software on the phone to activate it, it'll probably have some instructions on what to do. Hope it works for you!

You were right, it's just called media server
@maddy- which version of the play do you have?
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk
Mine is Xperia Play R800i, it does not have either "Media Server" installed.
Is it only available in the US versions?
BTW, mine is an Unlocked from UK and running 2.3.4.

Used to be called Media Server (in 2.3.3) but now - for me at least on an unbranded/sim-free UK R800i on 2.3.4 - look for an App installed called Connected Devices
We can also stream to our phones (from say a WD TV Live, or a PC) - use "ES File Explorer" (lan - and search for your WD's IP) and stream via "VPlayer".
I use this method to stream .mkv files from my WD TV Live in my living room via my router to watch movies on my phone in my bedroom - works great .
The only issue I have is that vplayer is not free, and you can't stream via MoboPlayer (I don't think it buffers, it tries to download the whole movie). So if anyone knows any free media player that lets you strem (buffer) .mkv files then let me know.
I you want to stream from your phone to another device there are various free apps you can use; BubbleUPNP, Connected devices (preinstalled), and softMedia player
Thanks
there is a Connected Devices thing, I will give it a try today.
Try this http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...our-images-in-a-big-screen-with-vscreens-com/
but you can only view images and videos..
It is great, but if the TV does not have the WiFi then it wont work fine, but for Laptop and to stream to desktop computers this is great indeed.

[Q] Copy music to SWR50 via USB?

Is the USB Micro port capable of being used to copy music to and from the device?
Bluetooth is so Battery hungry and slow... I was hoping to just plug her in and copy the music over.
adb
Just use adb to push your music to /sdcard.

I was able to "adb push" some 100 mp3s in a couple of minutes to the SWR50 by turning on USB debugging and using the default Android ADB interface driver, however I only have one playable song (that I sent over BT via Walkman app as a test) in the music player. I tried pushing mp3 files to both "/sdcard" and "/sdcard/Music" directories but could not make a pushed song visible by the music player.
Anyone had any luck with this?
Anyone had any results/success with the above?

No.
It seems you have to either use the walkman app or register via the google play music store (with a credit card!!*) to be able to play the music.
This is a really poor implementation either way - having to send music to the cloud and then all the way back again to see it on your phone.
I guess someone will come up with a workaround app sometime soon. Or at least I hope so!
*apparently you can register for the google music download manager then remove your credit card info from google wallet and it will still work (but it means your details are still there, somewhere).
You could try installing Play Music or some other music app via adb
This works for me. However, the app I use to listen to music is wear media player. You can find it in the android wear forum or on the play store. If you can't, I can link to it.
Someone also broke the forum rules to promote another paid app that does the same.
Where is the Walkman and Google play storing their music?
Does anyone know where I can push music to be able to play it though google play or walkman?
I tried wear media but I can't get it to play song in the right order.
What is the order you want? Are you trying to play a playlist? I do not think Google play recognizes sideload music.
Also, if you are dead set on a drag and drop without adb solution, twrp (for 5.1.1 supports mounting the scared as a flash drive).

Does Android Auto play local music or does it only stream from Google Play music?

I haven't gotten to play with one of these before. Just curious about this very important detail.
Streaming is bad, mmkay?
i guess only streaming unfortunately
wrong forum
Correct forum is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-auto-general
Local should work, but I've never tried it.
A few other music players are AA compatible and can do local or streaming.
The units will only store the downloaded media to the 'flash' drive. So you will be limited to 1gb or less of storage. I have tried to switch it to the SD card or a usb stick and I have not found a way to get it to work. My Samsung S5 has the ability to choose the storage location. However I can't get this function to show on the head unit. Or transfer the app to the SD card or USB stick to store the files there.

Play locally-sourced audio?

I followed the Forum Rules and searched but can't find anything on what surely must be a very frequently asked question.
I got a 3-month free trial of Google Play Music. Works fine on my phone so bought a chromecast audio and connected to amp+speakers, now I can cast and streamed music works as expected. BUT having unplugged my local media player I can no longer listen to my local media.
It's inconvenient having to plug and unplug all the time. How do I hack the chromecast audio device to stream from local machines as well as from Google Play Music?
Bubble upnp
https://github.com/acidhax/chromecast-audio-stream
It will stream a PC's audio to chromecast
The easiest solution if probably just to upload your music to Google Play Music. This will also allow you to initiate playback using a Google Home if you ever buy one.
it doesn't support directly playing local tracks, it requires uploading music to your library for playback.
