Gold M8 - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

What's the possibility there will be a gold option of the m8 for tmobile? Reason I ask is from what I can tell the gold one on other carriers are best buy exclusives. Best buy doesn't sell tmobile. Well at least here none does.

If you go to HTC website site it only shows 1 color for T-Mobile. So far it's accurate spot to look. If you want Gold you have to get the unlocked, AT&T, or Dev version.

Cool

anyone know of a way to get a "jump" early?
I am on month 3 of my new T_mo service, and I am on my 3rd(replaced twice with problems) lg Flex; I'd love to get a M8, but, i have 3 more months until I am "officially" eligible..
Anyone know of a way to get my jump early, or convince T-Mo to let me grab one? I have 3 lines in total, and really dont need another line..
Thanks!

There is none other than paying off your device and starting a new EIP(you will have to wait 3 months).

Maybe sell you Flex for a few hundred to pay off part of the EIP and pay the rest out your pocket.

You can go into a store, have them move you from JUMP! to JUMP! 2. The only difference between the 2 different programs is that JUMP! 2 requires you to pay off half the device to upgrade; which can be done at any time. No more 6 month waiting period. If you qualify for $0 down, you would be spending more money going that route, but if you like to upgrade all the time, it might be useful! I work for T-Mobile, that's how I know this info.

There is no 6 month waiting period. After the initial 6 months wait you don't have to wait.
The only difference between the two is
Old - 2 upgrades per year(not every 6 months), any amount owed is paid off
New - Upgrade any time a long as 50% is paid off.
I have already used 2 jumps already on one of my lines and I am about to do it again later today for the M8.

So, I am only 3 months into my "time" with T-mobile, and I have a LG Flex that I pay monthly on, with no money down.
I am in the "old" jump program.
What you are saying, is that I can take my Flex in, today, tell them to move me to "Jump 2", and trade it in for an M8, and I dont have to pay off anything on the Flex, and I can "start fresh" with an M8, with no money down? (I have great Credit)
Thanks

Did you already jumped the first time our if the flex your first device?
The only wait period is when you start jump.
Also when you do your second jump to the beginning of where you did the first jump.
For example I can't jump again until January next year for my two lines. My lines are stuck with the S5 and M8.

Just enrolled in JUMP!

Definitely beneficial and I'm actually saving $1 by adding it to my account by basically replacing my current insurance with that plan which is cheaper and allows me to upgrade every 6 months.. Can't wait for the HTC one max and note 3 to be announced..

There is an open enrollment period for current customers, you need to have a phone on EIP and thats it.
I came across this article comparing the new plans that TMobile and AT&T have intro'd - its worth a read if you are considering JUMP
I'm on a Classic plan my contract ends August next year. I wonder if I qualify for this? Already have insurance.

So with Tmobile you can pay an extra $10 month and when a new phone is released you have to trade up the phone that is on the EIP.. sounds like a rip to me. But to each his own.
Let me know if I have this right. I am on a classic plan. When the Note 3 comes out, I go in and pay $200 to cancel my classic plan, then buy the Note 3 and sign up for jump!. Then sell my Note 2 to pay for all of this. The only problem I see is that I have had the Note 2 for 9 months and it is still the only phone I want.

It's really more of an easy way to always have the latest and greatest. It's about the same price as selling your current phone and buying at full price. If you keep your phone in perfect condition and can sell it for top dollar than that is a better deal but a lot of hassle. I personally love this plan.

This is good but would rather have timely updates to continue to make my phone feel new. My only concern is this could be an incentive for t mobile not to push updates. And if the carrier isn't pushing them the oems may decide it not necessary to update despite the fact they are almost always a year or more behind what aosp is. I mean 4.3 is around the corner and an we are still on 4.1.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I think that T-Mobile is being pretty generous. They are basically buying any phone back for $360 bucks ($20x18months). Which can't be a money maker for them. They are probably hoping that they can sell the refurbs real cheap and get more people on monthly plans. 0 down and $15 a month and they only break even.

They do push out updates for a lot of the flagship devices. Hence the gs2 started on gingerbread and now has jellybean(I would bet money that's where it will end) I am well aware that unless something radically changes it will always be slow especially since they are dependent on oems. My concern is that this could make things worst. Unless Samsung starts pushing their own os (what ever it's called) and bypasses the carriers through kies like how apple does it through itunes. In the end I am happy with touchwiz and am looking more forward to an updated touchwiz rather than an updated android version.

Got one of these back in June to test T-Mobile's network before I switched from ATT. Back then you had to use the coupon code "99SIM" in order to drop the price from $10 to $0 including free shipping. Glad it's FREE for all now.
T-Mobile's on a roll. Going to have a blowout quarter Nov 5th.
switching over to T-mobile next week (with my tmobile N3 currently on att), anyone know if these will work for monthly plans?
To clarify, if I bring these in with me to the tmobile store can they transfer numbers and set everything up? I wanna avoid paying for it at the store.

Activate SIM card online, then call Cust service to port your number if need be. Their best plan is the $30/m with 100 mins, unlimited texts and 5gb data. You can use Skype for all your wifi calls.

Be very careful with these sim adapters!
If you plan to stick it in there and never take it out, it's probably ok. But if you ever need to switch sims, be very gentle when removing it.
These adapters will often get caught on the delicate connector pins and damage them. I speak from experience, lol... damaged my Note 2 and an HTC One using those adapters with an iPhone nano sim.

Haha, me too. Got a micro and a nano. Do any other phones besides iPhone 5 use a nano?? I actually have an iPhone 5 that I hardly use, mainly because it's an iPhone (haha) and that nano sim card size is a pain in the ass. Was thinking of maybe activating the nano to use occasionally on my iPhone, for the heck of it. With the $30 plan, won't kill the wallet to have two active lines.

Why are you bothered about this "mate" htc phone? I would rather have an LG pro 2 with USA spec LTE of available, failing that I would await a the M8 Max :cyclops:
Well, I read rumors that T-Mobile was supposed to begin selling the M8 tonight after midnight. Searched the site for "HTC One" and it came up with this page:
View attachment 2650498
I clicked the link that is shown on the right side to buy my M8. It took me to this URL: https://explore.t-mobile.com/htc-one-m8
The link doesn't seem to be working right now as it only takes me to a blank page. But this is encouraging!
EDIT:
Called customer service and found out (after four or five transfers, lol) that the site probably won't be live until 12:00am Pacific Time (3:00am EST). So I'll try again in the morning.
Also, I couldn't believe the lack of knowledge of T-Mobile employees about this phone. I called a store today to see about in-store purchase date and the rep didn't even know the phone was coming out. Ditto with the last rep I talked to. She was just able to tell me that usually during system updates and for record keeping, they operate on Pacific Time. So hopefully I won't have any troubles ordering in the morning.

The price appears to be $636 for T-Mobile customers.* As always that can change, along with the release date, at any time.
As a customer on an Un-Carrier-era plan with good credit no down-payment is required and the phone cost can be spread across 24 payments with no financing fees. For those with less credit a down-payment is required and the remaining balance is spread out over the same 24 months, again without financing costs. Or just pay for it outright. In all of those cases the cost comes out to be the same, $636 plus any local taxes.
Purchasers paying in installments can also enroll in the Jump program. Simply put, in it's latest version, it's extended warranty, insurance, Lookout Premium subscription, and a trade-in guarantee after the phone has been half paid for. $10 month to be in it. Thus in a year we Jump folks can trade in our HTC One m8, after having spent as little as $342 (over the cost of just insurance) to start on the HTC One m9 with integrated hover board functionality!
I expect we'll hear more about the new HTC One on T-Mobile after the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 launch on the 11th. That has garnered lots of attention and is backed by Samsung's huge advertising campaigns making it the launch of the season.
*T-Mobile makes it's money as phone service provider, not as a phone seller. Thus it's phone prices are often higher for non-customers.
Well, it looks like the link I posted earlier is up and running, but it isn't an order page. It's just a page to request notification of when it will be available for sale.

Yeah but you have to pay at least half the cost of the device on the new jump program...I'm on the old one 6 months and I'm good for an upgrade and bill will be relatively the same.

Interesting. That's not how they told me. I don't have more than 3 month and they said I'll be able to jump any time.

When did you sign up? This was a fairly recent change.

If your on the old jump program, then after using your 1st jump and say you are only a month in, yes you can use your 2nd one, however you won't be able to jump again for 11 months.
On the new jump, you can still apply this, however you have to have half the device paid off, unfortunately.

Uhm I see. But once you jump, you get into new jump system.

Oh. AFAIK, it stays the same for grandfathered plans.
They never said anything to me about it changing when I did a jump on my wife's line.

unlocked note 7 today. Almost Free phone!

So today thru the T-Mobile device unlock app I was able to unlock the phone for use with any gsm carrier. I also checked my plan and they took the monthly $30 Equipment plan charge off! So I technically got a note 7 for $120 bucks as I only paid for it for 4 months! Still works great

Permanent
I have tried several times and it failed. What was your EIP balance by the time of request? Like more than 50%?

Definitelt not. I got the phone in october and they only charged me for the EIP for 4 months. Check yours now they might of removed your EIP completely! Mines not showing up anymore..
No, they charge me for $32 with change. Got yours in October? I think they stopped selling them in mid September.

I got mine October 8th thru tmobiles Preorders of the Gen 2. They sold them for a day before recalling it again. This is what my EIP menu shows.
wait a min, can i unlock mine? or is it only tmobile?
Probably only T-Mobile Owen. But you can try!
I can tell you from personal experience that it is entirely possible for the full remaining value of the phone to show up on your bill. Hope it doesn't happen to you.

it didn't. They actually credited me the months I paid for it. So I got all my money back for it.
