2. Works with Stock Music Player, but Awesome :victory: with Player Pro (my opinion)
3. Do not enable Music Equalizer (try changing in Viper4Android - Select Preset)
if you want to revert to Stock Settings: Refer to page 12 - #118
Hit Thanks if these changes bring a better Audio in your G2

i was using this MOD since 5 days and i dont notice any Battery Drain. especially with Viper4Android. Battery remains the same as KItKat Stock

Choice...
The mod you posted works with a rooted phone. I have used your mod in the past and noticed a significant improvement in sound. Later I have been using non-rooted phone and was unable to get the Viper4droid function.
The choice I have made is to use Jetaudio with AM3D activated... It is not the best but provides better base and tones. The good thing is you can modulate both jet audio settings and AM3D and this helped in improving the output too...
Posted this, just to ensure that someone like me could try it .....

Thanks for this, I've installed without a problem! I have just a question:

to my knowledge LPA disabled has got better results disabling changes the following values
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
thanks for liking my MOD

Viper4Android should have root access, so according to you which one you found better ?

Some ppl think its silly, but still people are confused what settings to be used. be fair man, helping and being clear is not bad ri8 ?
better you notice step 1. you cant find that in Viper4Android...this is a combination of two good mods.

How do you revert back after the first sound mod? How do you revert LPA back after disabling? Have you noticed any difference in battery life? LPA is supposed to really increase battery life, so I'm reluctant to disable or change anything without the option to revert back, I know you can take a nandroid but that's time consuming, are there easier ways? Thanks!

Keep in mind the step 1 zip you are using is only for cloudy ROM.
While it may work with other firmware it is actually overwriting the intended settings provided by the firmware. For example CyanogenMod and omni have wildly different values in mixer_paths.xml than the one you provided.
If you want a zip that will do pretty much the same thing as step 1 see my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701745

Seems that there is a little bit background noise after ViPER Clarity is enabled and set to 10.0dB ?
It's quite serious actually.
BTW, what is the purpose of changing the values of mixer_paths.xml? ( just curious to know @@ )

The values changed in the mixer_paths.xml mod I posted are specifically to boost the volume output of the headphones and prevent a volume level change when switching between music and phone call etc.
There are other things that can be done using mixer_paths.xml like the bass reducer for the speaker which solves some distortion issues. You can also adjust the speaker volume, the call volume, and many other things.
I'm not 100% sure the of what changes the cloudy zip from the op makes. It's a premade firmware specific file, and probably shouldn't be flashed on a firmware that isn't cloudy. But I can tell you that the mod I posted actually gives you louder sound output then the cloudy one, and it's universal to all KitKat firmware.

Couldn't tell you. I'm not using viper, and I'm on CyanogenMod.
I recommend you try to clean flash your firmware (which will undo the mixer mod) and then try the mixer mod from my thread without viper and see how it sounds. If you need the viper mod after that you can add it, but at least you won't be using the wrong mixer file (my mod just changes YOUR mixer file rather than replacing it)

Noozxoid EIZO-rewire is much better than Viper. IMHO

Why is it that when I extracted the mixer_paths.xml file from the zip and replaced it with my original mixer_paths.xml i got bootloop?

Future Updates After v8
Update V4A Audio Effects yourself
Official V4A Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Requirements:
I personally using Xperia S Locked Bootloader with Deodexed Stock .45 firmware. If u're the same then great.
1. ICS Rom (RXE don't support JB Roms or XZX, Audio mod support ICS and JB)
2. Rooted and has CWM
2. Deodexed Rom
3. Xperia S/acro S/ion (MSM8260 chip/Cortex A8 with neon) (For V4A FX to work)
4. Recommended Clean Rom No need wipe DATA, just reflash SYSTEM, wipe CACHE & APPS LOG in flashtool.
(!) Unlocked Bootloader have to see tutorial to regain BE2 & DL Music Info
Instructions:
1. Make sure u met requirements.
2. Reboot into CWM, Wipe Cache/Dalvik-Cache
3. Flash latest build prop lines, flash AIO, flash RXE.
4. Reboot, After Android Upgrade, no bootloop.
5. Extract SDCard_V4A.zip to root of sdcard.
6. Done.
For custom rom, you'll face some apps FC, see solutions below.
Updating to v8
If u're on v7
1. Flash on top to overwrite. Build.prop lines same as v5.
If u're on v5/6
1. Recommended install on clean rom. Build.prop lines same as v5.
If u're on older versions:
1. No shortcut, Do a clean install. No need wipe DATA, just reflash SYSTEM, wipe CACHE & APPS LOG in Flashtool.
Updating build.prop lines
Important: Build prop lines should be flashed only once. Unless system is reflashed.
1. Reboot into CWM, flash Latest build prop lines zip.
2. Reboot, After Android Upgrade, no bootloop, Done.
3. If you are advanced enough, remove old buildprop lines manually if exists.
**Fix RXE FCs** (Happens on Custom Roms & Unclean Stock Roms)
ICS rom users,
Walkman + Download music info FC - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37382215&postcount=222
Friend's Music FC - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37442229&postcount=252
Album FC - Replace with the working album apk from ur rom
Movies FC - Clear Movies data in settings/apps/all
SoundEnhancement FC - Clear sound enhancement app data in settings/apps/all
Jellybean rom users, (almost every app FC)
So just replace those FC apps with your rom's default apk.
eg: WALKMAN FC - Replace SemcMusic.apk in /system/app/ with your JB rom's original SemcMusic.apk
**How To Switch Music Effects // Tricks to avoid Audio Conflict**
1. Shutdown WALKMAN.
2. Go Settings > Sound > Music Effects and select desired music effect, Minimize Sound Settings.
NOTE: Both XHiFi and FX will run together no matter which one u choosed in Sound Settings.
3. Start WALKMAN, go to Sound Enhancement and make sure its redirected to ur selected music effect. Return to WALKMAN.
5. Play Music. To test:
If u choosed V4A, Check FX/XHiFi "Driver Status".
If u choosed Sound Enhancement, Test Equalizer.
If u choosed SRS Panel, Set your SRS settings then restart Walkman to take effect.
**How To Config V4A**
Refer Official topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
**FX & XHiFi Driver Status Explained**
Reminder: Always show NO in FX Compatible Mode
When play on speaker: (music must be played)
FX shows enabled Only If u enabled speaker effect
XHiFi shows disabled 100%
When play on headphone: (music must be played)
FX shows disabled If u didnt enabled headphone/BT effect
FX shows enabled Only If u enabled headphone/BT effect
XHiFi shows enabled Only If u enabled headphone/BT effect

Cause i dont have ion device, but those threads can be made pretty easy.
If ur stock rom already deodexed and rooted, stay clean and dont make too much data.

about xperia SL
Hi !.
im waiting on my xperia SL (LT26ii) to arrive and im collecting all the mods/roms/kernel i might want to try but, since i´ve read a LOT (a whole lot) here on xda about how the SL and the S are the same phone except for the 1.7Ghz processor on the SL, every mod/rom/kernel out there for the S should work just fine with the SL...
thing is some people say it has worked for them just fine and others say just don´t put xperia S stuff on xperia SL i don´t know what to try and might end up with a stock SL for a while...though i understand about flashing roms and cwm and flashtool and that stuff.
so i thought i might start with "small" mods for my SL, so i was wondering if any of these would work ? thanks, sorry for wall of text and bad english! :good:

No harm using S mods on SL. Its just some replacement of system files and apps.
Most importantly, dont touch bootloader or kernal. Custom roms for XS are not recommended too.
Just curious, can u guys see the recommended symbol which is a music note? ♫
Cause xda app cannot view it.
did someone tried in xperia s unlocked bootloader?

incrediblebass i didnt try before, but u will regret if u dont use v4a fx and xhifi.
See my 2nd post's audio effect list. Those are toggles and settings control panel, not some crappy audio tune in background.
Dynamic bass in V4A FX is superior. Hi clarity in Xhifi is also unbelievable.
One hint, i can use normal apple earphone and hear superior bass heavier than sony XB series headphones.

[mod] [5/14/13] [tw] full time multi sample anti-aliasing

This mod is full time 4x and 2x MSAA for TW on the d2spr.
Download available in post 2.
Performance Edition in post 3
All development for this mod has been developed through the device on the device for the device.
If you need help with this mod feel free to ask. However, there are a few different mods listed. Please state which mod you are using so I can better help you!

**If you include this in your rom please include me in your credits as a few haven't.**
If you are a rom developer and would like to include this mod in your next rom then go for it. No need to ask.
This mod is FULL TIME 4xMSAA and produced by a single text file in /data/local/temp/ called "yamato_panel.txt" Set your permissions for the device to read it and reboot. Any changes made to the file are not instantly applied and will need a reboot.
To verify the samples get the app "Basemark ES2 taiji"
It's optional but not necessary to...
- Remove the line "0 0 android from /system/lib/egl/egl.cfg
- Rename "libGLES_android.so" to "libGLES_android.bak" in /system/lib/egl.
This forces the system to use hardware rendering and speeds up the whole system. Even though we have this set in alot of build.props it will still use SW rendering at times. This completely eliminates SW.
The 1 in "0 1 adreno" defines HW.
What is Anti-Aliasing??

FT4xMSAA yamato_panel.txt
NOTES..
1. Do NOT attempt to set MSAASmoothing to "high" as it will cause your display to look like 8 bit graphics. (Anybody want to try to fix this be my guest)?
2. MSAAMode=1
Sets samples to 2x
MSAAMode=2
Sets samples to 4x
3. facenessCulling=on
This will drastically increase the picture quality but also put more strain on the system. This can be set to "default" for easier rendering.
ISSUES..
1. Since the recent updates to ASOP, this mod is no longer recommended for it. This is now for T.W. only.
2. The taskbar artifacts have been significantly reduced in 4x and non existent in 2x.
3. This is not a performance mod!
This mod will cause a higher strain on the system. Effects of this mod are slower performance but a far better visual experience.
The text file for 4x MSAA.
Use it at your own risk. Attempting to modify some settings may leave your device soft bricked! However, if this happens you can simply remove the file in TWRP and reboot.

It will smooth out the display graphics for a higher definition look. It essentially smoothes the edges of everything rendered on your device. Colors and shading will also be improved.
Added downloads in post 2
This works great with the GPU script and the build prop tweaks but that yamoto file causes some weird lines on my status bar so I deleted that. Quadrant scores are over 6k with this mod now! Thanks! Much smoother user experience!

Yes there are some disturbances in status bar. They come and go and not sure why. Switching to 2x mode should completely eliminate it though if you want. The build.prop edits should speed things up a bit. A better scroll, better colors and shading.

Reason for no flashable zip?
I don't like messing with others build.prop file as I don't have a good uninstall zip for that if they don't like it.
I didn't feel the need for a yamato zip either because it's just one text file you drop in one file.
However, if it would help, I could make one. I would like everyone that would like to try this out to be able to do it. If there is an issue with installing for anyone, just l let me know and I will help you out!

[Guide][ROOT] Raise the volume limit on Xperia M

Hi,
Maybe you noticed that the sound volume on Xperia M isn't too satisfactory. Maybe, like me, you tried to raise the volume with AlsaMixer, but the issue is that the settings are temporary and you have to set the volumes everytime you want to listen some music...
So there's how you raise the volume on this phone. I tested only on the dual-SIM version, please confirm if this is working on single-SIM version, too.
1. Make sure your phone is rooted and you have a capable root file explorer (I used FX File explorer with the root plugin).
2. Navigate to /etc/snd_soc_msm and make sure that the /system partition is mounted as r/w.
3. Open snd_soc_msm_Sitar in a text editor (FX File Manager has one embeded)
4. Search for "Headphones" (including quotes). You should find something like in this image:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5. Edit the 'HPHL Volume' and 'HPHR Volume' values, from the "EnableSequence" section. For a 100% volume you shoud have something like
Code:
'HPHL Volume':1:100
'HPHR Volume':1:100
6. Save the file and reboot.
Warning: at 100% the sound is very loud and I guess you need a good pair of headphones to avoid distorsions. Play whit those values to get an optimal volume for your preferences.
This tutorial is provided as it is, I don't assume any responsability if you brick your phone during this process.
So is this only for headphones volume or does it also improve volume of loudspeaker?
The "Headphones" section changes - obviously - only the volume in headphones. For changing the volume of loudspeaker I guess that you have to change the values on "Speaker", but on my phone those are already set to 100% (but, as I said, I'm not sure that "Speaker" is the right device for this).
The volume for this phone is already one of the best. and headphones too r loud. Not the best but definitely loud. Still good knowledge

It says that an error occurred while trying to save. I think I did not change the permissions an I dnt know to change it either. Please help

Please make sure that the /system partition is mounted as r/w (read/write) when you're trying to save the file.
I shluld chnge the permossion of the entire system folder? The folder aldeady shows permission as rwx r-x r-x. I tried changng it to rwx rwx rwx but it says cant change or some error or something.

You could install Viper4Android FX which comes with a system-wide equalizer. This way you can change the sound parameters even if your favourite music player doesn't come with an equalizer.

New update is released !
New Update is already released with new audio enhancement and new 96Khz audio freq (Experimental).
In this update i'm still enable DSEE-HX feature to make sound quality is good, but this make we can't use Sony Music app.
If someone want to use Sony Music App, then try to use root explorer and go to /system and choose file build.prop.
hold up for a second until new option is pop up, choose open in text editor and find this string.
"ro.somc.dseehx.supported=true" and change it too "ro.somc.dseehx.supported=false"
save and reboot your phone, then we can use Sony Music app again.
In this update i'm re-new sound engine and include 2 new engine , that you can switch it in terminal.
1. Hana Illusion Audio Enhancement (Stock Audio Effects) [AIE]
This audio engine will give you a sound quality with great balance for rock and pop music, include low background effects and great bass sound.
2. Hana Illusion Bass Audio Enhancement [AIBE]

Requirements
A rooted Moto g5 phone - I have tested this on Lineageos but I will assume it will work on a rooted stock rom too
Arise Sound System Thread
Arise Sound System Download
Instructions
Download the Arise Sound System
Flash it in TWRP
Aroma installer will start
Follow the Instructions of the Installer
SELinux Must be set to permissive - either use the installer to permanently set this to permissive or you can manually set it to permissive from within the Viper4android app
You only need to install Viper4android - However you are free to install any sound mods you like but I have not tested them
Next you need to disable any equaliser apps you currently have running
In lineageos turn off AudioFX from within the app
Make sure you disable any equalisers that are part of the music app you use as some 3rd party apps come with them so look in the apps settings and switch it off
Swipe right and select settings
Enable developer mode
Select Disable SELinux
Select ok
Note if you restart your phone you will have to set SELinux to permissive again for it to work unless you have set it to be permanently permissive
Open your audio player app settings and goto the equaliser section
See if there is an option to change from the apps equaliser to system equaliser
Eg for pi music player
Go to the app settings and change use pi equaliser to system equaliser
You will know its working if you open up Viper4android app
Swipe right
Select driver status
If the following shows it's working
NEON Enabled: Yes
Enabled: Yes
Status: Normal
Audio Format: Supported
Processing: Yes (when music is playing) No (When nothing is playing or not set for system equaliser or AudioFX is on)
Feel free to play around with the settings of Viper4android - after all everyone's headphones are different

Hello FixItMan,
earlier we exchanged in another thread on sound volume. Does this implementation give a sustainable implementation for increasing sound volume v.v. the program editing you suggested before? I certainly want to try and thanks already for input and work on this subject.

I didn't try the other app
Yes this improves the volume and is sustainable (albeit you may have have to disable SELinux again after restart)
Use the playback gain control to increase volume further than what I have in the provided profile
Gives total control over audio like bass frequency reverb stereo surround etc see screenshot for the app in first post
Hi bro, thanks for your great job. I try to install Viper but didn't work. After rebooting the device there is a constant popup for install the drivers! Can u help me? I'm not a noob

You need to copy the lib file to system/lib and set the correct permissions for the file as per instructions
Failure to do this correctly will result in that message
Edit
See screen shot section for how permissions of lib file should look
OK I will try it. Thanks :good:
Edit: nop nothing work:crying: The attached picture comes from a different root explorer, but the values are identical .

Try copying it and setting permissions with total commander
Iv found with some other root browsers the settings don't stick as the app doesn't have the ability to mount the folder r/W or you didn't mount the lib folder r/w
Total commander mounts it for you and prompts you to remount the folder
Sorry missed out a step
To find the disable selinux setting
Open viper4android app
Swipe right
Select settings
Select enable developer mode
Now disable selinux will show
Iv added this step to first post in case you were wondering where that option is
Failure to disable selinux means audio driver will have status abnormal
Yeeeeee V4A now finally work... Thanks a lots guys. But... I used it on my Xperia Z2 and the effects it's very different! That's better than nothing
Sent from my Moto G (5) using XDA-Developers Legacy app
This must working with poweramp? because i do not see any change with or without, i disabled audio effects, but still nothing. Thanks
?

Yes it works with poweramp
Go into poweramp settings
Select audio
Advance tweaks
Disable direct volume control
This then turns off poweramps equaliser and let's the system take over
All apps settings in different music player will be different but all have the same premises - you're aiming to turn off the apps equaliser (just turning off isn't good enough as the app is still in control) and giving access back to the system
Here's a screenshot of that settings menu in poweramp
i disabled direct volume and eq, but no effects, the viper4android say no at processed and i tried to complet eliminate audio effects and no result

it works - i just tested it
also make sure in the poweramp equalizer screen select tone and volume (has dials for mono stereo x volume)
unselect equ tone and limit
also make sure if running for example lineageos that you have also turned off audiofx from the audiofx app
make sure you have disabled selinux
i have all of this modifications, but i am on stock rom rooted, i have selinux disabled, not works

All I can say is - iv just tested it on my moto g5 running lineage os and it works
Try pi music player instead using the guide on the first post and see if that works - if it does theres a setting somewhere you are missing in poweramp or you have another equaliser that needs to be switched off - maybe a stock dsp equaliser - have a look in the phones settings menu under audio and see if it has the option to select a dsp/equaliser - if it does select it and select viper4android as your dsp/equaliser
i am wondering if works only with music player or all sounds in the phone, like ringing, call auditions...
i didnt have any equ, only audio effects which is disabled now

it works with all sounds - as long as the phones settings are set to use viper4android as its dsp/equaliser
The only problem you might experience is sometimes it takes 1 or 2secs for the effects to kick in for the first time - there for if you get a notification for the first time the start of that notification may sound low volume and suddenly rise up to the level its meant to be
This should only happen the first time the driver kicks in
thanks for your time, but i tried everything, i read first post for 20 times, i folowed all, still nothing, not works, i dont know what can i try
