Does it mount as usbdisk? Are you on 442? Rooted?

Sure, it mounts as usb disk. I'm running the stock Motorola Rom 4.4.2, not rooted.
When you insert the stick through the micro usb port on the phone, it automatically mounts. Then I usually use ES file explorer to copy files in it.

I wonder why you, on 442 w/o my otg fix (if I presume), have otg support yet I did not?

its still working? cause i just bought one but my moto x no recognize the usb, i am on 4.4.3

I also have this device and it works great for me as well. The stick can be found going to storage/usbstorage in es or any file explorer. On Verizon running krypton rom with 4.4.3.

I just bought the Patriot 64gb OTG drive and it works fine on my stock, rooted Dev Edition on 4.4.3. Shows up in ES File Explorer, and works fine with Stickmount.

If you're rooted it should would fine if I'm not mistaking.

I just got this for my MOTO X XT1056. When I connect it, all I see in the notifications is this message: "Blank USB Storage. USB storage is blank or has unsupported file system" It the gives me the option to format the usb storage. I've done this twice and also formatted on my PC, but still same thing. Any help?
When I go to Settings, Storage and try to mount it does nothing and the message is still there.

I've tried a couple of USB Sticks via USB OTG, they're all working fine. No mounting problems or anything like that. I use the "File Explorer from NEXTAPP, INC" on my XT1052 Stock 4.4.2 KitKat no root.

What capacities and the format of USB do you all have used? Please reply. I've Moto X 2013 running 4.4.4 stock, no root. I tried sandisk dual usb 64 GB with ex-fat format and it didn't work. It doesn't show up in notification. It file explorer it shows as r/o (read only) device. Thanks

How to OTG a memory card or usb storage device with Galaxy Nexus?

In case I have both proper cable and memory card or usb storage device , what more do I need?
Any applications to mount / unmount memory card may be needed?
How am I supposed to manage it? With root explorer would be fine?

You need an app since Android won't mount a USB OTG device automatically. Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdGlja21vdW50Il0.

question is , how to make it work ? just same way as plug the USB storage device ?
as the USB storage device needs this applications , mouse or keyboard do not requires it ?
Mouse and keyboard do not require apps or drivers, just plain work. Plug otg cable into mouse or keyboard directly or through a hub. Easy.
I haven't succeeded in making a USB DVD usable from my gnex, but that is just silly so I didn't try very hard.

[Q] Retrieving files from "damaged" SD card after flashing CM10

I fllashed CM10 M2 on my S3 and got the error that the external SD card is damaged. After reading some threads here I found that CM doesn't handle the exFAT format so I restored stock image from backup expecting to be able to access files on the external card. However, I'm still getting the bad SD card error. I found this thread that mentions the same issue that I'm having but the solution proposed there didn't work for me. I'm using CWM 6.0.1.2 and when I connect through ADB when in recovery, I don't see the contents of the external card. Mounting sdcard from CWM mounts /sdcard but that is the internal storage which is not what I want. I also tried connecting the card to my laptop running XP using a micro-SD card reader and running chkdsk but that reported the disk as a RAW partition. Any ideas on what else I can do to copy files off of the card?
Plug it into the computer and run a recovery software. There's tons of free ones.
Exfat should be readable by cm10. I would try in a Linux os to retrieve your data. Or the recovery method as mentioned above.

You'll have to copy to the computer. Use an adaper to plug into a usb port. Or if you can see the files on your phone copy to computer via usb cable or wireless file utility.
If I'm not mistaken, exFat is only supported in our stock kernels which is why you can't read it in cm or aokp. I've also had problems seeing it in cwm and twrp recoveries, but I can't remember if I had a stock kernel at the time.

How are you seeing the files from CWM? Do you connect through ADB to browse the files?

Try sgs3 easy ums app. I think its on the market but you can search for it here in xda as well.
Or as I said before you can try a wireless transfer utility from the market.
Otherwise take the sdcard out if the phone and plug it directly into your computer via an adapter.

OTG USB size limit

I´m trying to figure out why the pendrive I'm connecting to my One X via OTG is showing the error Damaged USB Storage.
It is formatted to FAT32, and is 64GB. Is there a problem with pendrives this big? I have a 2GB which works fine.
I'm not rooted, I have the latest JB update.
Thanks.

Thanks, ill give it a go.
One more thing, if I root and format the pendrive to NTFS will it work? I read there is some apps on the market that work.
I hooked up my 2tb external he'd and it worked just fine. It was ntfs format and I used usb otg helper to mount it.
Everyday I use my 8gb fat32 format without issues.

I`ve just found out 4GB is the max for FAT! or is that the max it can hold?
Any way I cant find a way to format it to FAT.

just try the usb storage as ntfs and it have to work fine...because ntfs is unlimited and yes...try that and you will be happy
Yeh I suppose I'll have to root sooner or later, just don't like the hassle of saving and restoring stuff.
Thanks guys!
I found the same thing, damaged usb. But that's only 8gb. More like a formatting issue then I should think.

How to force NTFS HDD to work via OTG?

Stickmount not working in v4.3

Anyone else try stickmount to mount their USB device?
I know its not my cable nor the flash drive. They both work in my Original Nexus 7 and I can mount the drive in the TRWP recovery in the Nexus 7 2013.
I also know I am rooted because I have Root Manager installed and it was Granted root permission. Same with ES FIle Explorer 3.

Stick mount works for me on 4.3. I just mounted a flash drive.
It created a usbStorage partition in the root of the internal storage(SD card).
I then used root explorer to navigate to the usb storage folder and voila, my flash drive and all its contents are accessible from my Nexus 7(2013)

Thats good to know then I am wondering why mine is not working? I wonder if maybe I am not rooted correctly. Is there an app that can check that I am rooted correctly?
I actually have tried other mounters as well and none of them are working to so must be something with the root?
EDITED:
I tried a fresh flash drive and it now shows up but my concern is why does that flash work on the original N7 and not on the N7 2013?
Could it be TWRP backups on the drive some device specific protection?

Both flash drives are Def Fat32!!. This is just too weird. The New and Old flash drives work on the original N7, but the old one I used on the Original N7 just will not work on the N7 2013, only the new one. I even did a re-format.
Both Flash drives are Kingston DataTraveler G3 8GB.

Have you tried the one that doesn't work on your old N7 recently, or on a computer to make sure it still works? Probably a stupid question but I figured I'd ask haha

It works on Mac and PC. Just totally lost on this. Maybe the firmware version on this Flash Drive is not compatible with the N7 2013 hardware/kernel.
With nexus media importer there are problems too, I guess they must update the apps to work on 4.3, something has changed.
Mine is not working either on my Nexus 7 2013, but works fine on the original N7. Just shows an empty folder when navigating with ES File Explorer

Maybe ppl can comment on their root methods here to see what works and what doesn't.
I just tried it again to make sure it is still working after I've gotten a few updates, and it works fine for me. Just started playing a video off a NTFS format sdcard with MX Player and it worked fine.
I'm using stock rom and am rooted with TWRP recovery and Super SU.
i just copied a 6gb mkv video onto my thumbdrive and mount with stickmount. it mounted ok but in my file explorer, there is no file despite me navigating to the correct folder.
any help here guys?

How are you formatted? It can't be FAT32 or you couldn't get a 6Gb file on it. I don't think NTFS works without some add-on support.

same issue
I am having the same issue, rooted with cwm and superSU, lexar 32 gig thumbdrive, 2 .mkv files on it, nothing shows in es file explorer or file manager hd. anyone figure aything out? I messed around for a couple of hours with no luck so far.
I have a rooted device running JSS15R and have a problem with OTG Helper. When I plug in the drive, it opens OTG Helper but I can't mount the drive. It just says no drives found. Tried two different flash drives, both FAT32 and both working on my PC.
fixed my issue

fixed it. Needed the ntfs3g script from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1145436&stc=1&d=1340293802 added to the root of the sdcard for stickmount to read the ntfs files. should have read the whole description on the play store for stickmount.
don't remember having to do that for my 1st gen nexus 7 but, then again, i do drink a lot of beer sometimes...

USB otg storage and 4.3

I haven't used USB otg for a while and this is the first time I'm using it with 4.3.
It does seem to work any more, even with paragon or stick mount. mounting causes the device to restart.
I'm using stock rooted with meenova.

Works fine for me, is your drive formatted properly?
works all right here on custom rom with stock kernel. imo you don't need any external tools. however, as noted above, make sure card is properly formatted with a fs that HTC one knows about : fat32, exfat, ntfs
