Options for the HTC One? - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

I have just a few questions for the M8, I'm really looking into it, I want it to be my new m8.
First and most important, does it have wifi calling?
Second, will tmo release say a 64gb?
Third, if I want to get a different color, or 64gb, can I get a dev edition, and flash tmos firmware? Will all the radios work, or will like it be like with the m7 and will I lose out on 4G (not LTE but between the 3G and LTE, I think it's WCDMA) this would be great help, my S4 is getting to me.
Thanks for the help

1. All tmo branded phones will and do havebl WiFi calling
2. Who knows
3. If you want a different color other than gun metal then you will have to go with dev or unlocked edition. Dev edition gets lte but not 4g unless you are in a reallocated area. I'm not sure about unlocked edition.

Thank you ^_^ I think 32gb will be fine, I've got a 64gb SD Card, but the more internal storage, the better, I'm always running low on my internal.

International Galaxy Nexus

I'm currently in Israel, and I had a LTE GN sent to me from America. I see that it has a microSIM card slot. If I were to get a microSIM, would I be able to hop off the networks here?

To be honest, I think you are the first one ever, to IMPORT a US-specific carrier-phone to try to use it internationally instead of just getting the international GSM version
a LTE GN from usually means this one: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus_i515-4301.php
as such it is a cdma phone, but LTE requires it to have a micro sim. It has no GSM radio whatsoever. And most likely it is locked to verzion.
simply put, no.
Ha, right. Well I didn't intentionally do this, it just happened that a friend had an upgrade with Verizon and he some how got the Nexus for free. He's using his BB here in Israel so he let me play with it. Its nice to have a solid feel with ICS.
Bummer.

There's no LTE networks in Israel...
...yet. Now that there's this whole boom the Communications Minister caused by getting all the new carriers to join the market, I think that Golan Telecom is the only one who is planning on getting the whole system up to 4G (LTE) when their thru.
In the meantime, though, your out of luck. Even if you did unlock the Verizon LTE phone, and get a microSIM (which is, btw, no problem here in Israel, all the carriers have them), you still wouldn't be able to use it as a cell phone since all the networks here are 3G and don't support LTE.
Damn zombies. Friends don't let friends resurrect threads that have been dead and buried for several months.

GS3 Tmobile LTE capable?

So I was in a tmobile store today and was told that both the note II and Gs3 will receive a software patch to enable the lte radio. Asked the question like 10 different ways as I've read online that the gs3 will NOT be let cab able.
the internal phone workings are a little above my head...but i was told that the tmobile sg3 is the same as say the att model which does have the lte radio,
So, does that sound right that the SG3 is future proof and will be able to enable LTE?

The question I should have asked is if they are shipping different GS3's for tmobile now? But regardless they were so confident that it will (LTE) be enabled...wanted to ask the experts thx

and that was from day 1? Obviously there has been debate about this on this forum and people much smarter than I have agued that it will never get LTE...
do you remember if there is something that has to be enabled? Or if say where I live they activate the LTE tower, boom it will work?
Its been a while so I dont remember the details, but I am convinced that
1. We will NOTget LTE one our GS3.
2. It doesn't really matter. By the time the majority of us get LTE in our market, we will have moved on to an even better phone! Also, most of us will get hspa+42 soon which for now is more than sufficient for almost everyones needs.

I think these threads need to be shut down. There are a number of other threads exactly like this that holds the correct information. Thanks Doc
I agree with Doc, we'll probably be on better phones by the time we have decent LTE reception -- and I'm happy enough with the DC-HSPA+ modem.
IMHO, they will likely release a Galaxy S3 [4G] LTE as an interm between the S3 and the S4. WRT LTE, all I know is what I see on Wikipedia's snapdragon article. Which isn't very clear on details. Also numerous MSM8960 phones /w LTE exist but do we even know if it's on die, let along bothering to crack open an AT&T and T-Mobile GS3 for a little hardware compare?
So afye reading this I have a question.... if you guys are saying that our phones arent capable then why on my phone (running frosty jb v7) are there 2 system apps called LTESettings.apk and LTETest.apk??? Are these not for our phone and are just ther e due to it being a port? And if so can I safely remove them so they are taking away ram and battery? Thanks in advanced

They serve no purpose to our devices so yes you can remove them. Just in case, make a backup first. Like move them to memory card or something.

Maybe I am the only one. LTE is not very efficient. I am happy with 3g+++.Tmo 3g super sized is a very good system. My company provided LTE hot spot sucks bandwidth like no other. Be careful what you ask for.

[Q] AT&T or International

I'm in a unique position to trade my International Note II for a brand new AT&T Note II. I can't make up my mind, so I'd like to see what you guys think.
This is how I see it:
Advantages to International Model:
No Bloatware
Tethering works out of the box (though it's easy to download Foxfi)
Timely updates
Has split screen already
Advantages to AT&T version
LTE
While LTE is nice, my HSPA+ speeds are plenty fast. I'm just not sure it's worth it to move to a branded device for faster internet. What do you guys think? I know the AT&T model will get the split screen eventually, but it will likely be months and every update after that will be on the International model long before the branded model sees it.
Do you root and/or flash custom ROMs/kernels? It really depends on your use case. Personally, I am staying stock for a bit, but I'll eventually root; I am on AT&T.

I don't really do custom ROMs, but I have been rooting lately just to block ads (hate them). So custom roms isn't really a factor.
Can anyone confirm if AT&T removed the display mode switcher (i.e. dynamic, standard, movie, etc.) from theirs? They did in the GSIII, though I have absolutely no idea why they don't just leave it in. It hurts nothing.
Id root and run international firmware with lte

The International version won't run on att lte bands. I say you would be better off getting the att version and then running something like clean rom on it.

Agreed. Get an AT&T, root it, flash with the international, and get the best of both worlds.

I know you said you don't do customs ROM, but doesn't make sense to so. AT&T Note II with a custom and you get ALL the benefits (and more).
I wasn't gonna root, but went ahead because I wanted the multi-window. Now I can use multi-window with any app I want, have no bloat, LTE and get better battery life. Extremely happy ROMed Note II.
I just switched from the International model to the ATT one. The LTE alone is worth it plus you can port ROM's.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Made the swap today and rooted. Now I'm just on the hunt for the right ROM.

[Q] Enabling T-mobile LTE on an AT&T Note 2

Have an AT&T i317 unlocked with a T-mobile data sim.
I've done the tweak to enable the 3G/4G bands, a la http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
But now T-mobile added LTE in a few markets. I drove through one and suddenly got no data access. This is with "preferred network mode" set to LTE/WCDMA. If I switch to GSM/WCDMA, all is well (it sticks to the HSUPA and H+). So clearly it thinks it's on LTE but the phone can't access the T-mobile LTE.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 10.1, android 4.2.2, which also makes the model number show GT-N7105 instead of i317.
any tweaks to add the LTE? do i need to dump CM and use a diff ROM? do i need to go back to stock first to do any of this? (Right now, I can no longer dial *#7284#)
Thanks!
I am having a similar issue, I have a sgh-i317 with aws mod and the phone is not picking up t mobile lte even when placed next to a sgh-t889 that is getting it. Lte works with att sim but not working with tmobile sim. Any help would be great. I have tried many roms and modems and reflashing aws mod. Roms inculde jedimaster13/14 jedi x13/14 both att and tmobile versions and clean rom and stock 411 and stock 412
I figured it out see

Does the AT&T version have LTE? If it doesn't have the capability, but he modem is telling it to access it when it sees it, that might be why it dropped out completely. I'm mostly curious to see if AT&T LTE devices can use t-mobile's LTE network because I want to get an s4 active and I don't want to lose LTE by making that switch.
Try this for me, instead of that model number you have. Change it to the T-Mobile model#. Which is going to have to b done thru the build prop. Then reboot. Then go try and c if you pick up lte.
Because I just flashed a AT&T Rom on a T-Mobile GN2. And I pick up lte just fine with my AT&T SIM in there! And no AWS MOD what so ever. But the MODEM is still TMO, it'll always b TMO. Flash a att modem on a TMO GN2. Brick city.
Let me know what happens just curious!!
Edit: the Rom I flashed was SKY NOTE 9. No modem included!!!

WELL, here's your answer.
Maybe they getting the device at a cheaper price. Which would make someone but it. Instead of spending a lot more to have have the carrier brand you need. FYI
Both the phones are exactly the same. Besides the model# and done bloat. Like I said above, if it's unlocked it'll work, with both carrier's. So why not have that option to switch... and one more thing being able to take the phone internationally, and pop a SIM inside and ya have service. No roaming !!!
Just my 2¢® 2 you're question...
Att now has prepaid lte plan almost same as tmobile only .5 gb less of data everything else the same at 60 dollars . Plus att has better coverage well at least in the areas I frequent .

When a t-mobile version is available, I do buy it, but with ATT exclusives, that's not an option. For instance, I want the s4 active for its water resistance. T-mobile will soon offer the xperia Z, but when you compare the features and perormance, the s4 active is better, so for the money i'm willing to spend on a smartphone, i'd rather have the s4 active.. the hardware is capable of t-mobile LTE, but it still has to be configured properly with firmware and software to use the radios correctly. Since radios are some of the hardest pieces of firmware to alter, it's worth doing this investigation / collaborating to find work-arounds.
I didn't get tmobile lte on my at&t note 2 until I flashed the new at&t radio. That's all that had to be done. I'm using Skynote9 too. I did the aws mod again so I could get h+ 4g speed enabled and now is a flawless tmobile phone. Let me know if it works for you.

[Q] Questions before moving to T-Mobile's S4

I'm ready to leave Verizon for T-Mobile because the S4 I received from them had ME7 and I really want to be able to flash roms. The S4 is my current choice for the phone to get (coming from a Galaxy Nexus so hopefully better battery life) but I have a couple of questions about whether or not to wait.
Is T-Mobile going to get a 32gb version? If so or maybe so, any ideas when? I've never had a smartphone with an sd card, so I'm not familiar with the limitations that it brings.
Is the S4 going to get an updated SoC? I've read some rumors about it getting a Snapdragon 800 soon. Didn't know if there was going to be an update spec wise this fall/winter for the holiday season.
I have the T-Mobile version and they only sell the 16 GB version, what people have done is buy the AT&T version outright which is 32 GB and put a T-Mobile SIM card in it since they're both GSM networks. I remember hearing rumors a while ago that there was going to be an updated S4 which had LTE advanced and the S800 but IDK if we'll ever get here in the USA. The stock ROM now supports Apps2SD but AOSP ROMs don't, you could always use an app like Folder Mount to do the same thing.

By leaving Verizon you stand to loose nothing but gain the world. .. first off as fast lte or close to vzw speeds..
No bootloader crap.. sd card limitations? Its quite the opposite your concerned about. ..
Sd card phones let u transfer encrypt and add up to 64 gigs on top of the 16 g internal.
There' is no downside to leaving vzw.
The tmobile s4 is a tip top device .
Easy to root ...free Wifi calling that only we have.
No worrys ...come ovr and enjoy tmobile.

I have to agree, I don't miss Verizon one bit. Just a note: wifi calling/texting only works on the official T-Mobile ROM, the Google Edition and AOSP ROMs don't support and it and possibly never will. The only thing I do miss is sometimes I drop down to EDGE for a few minutes in certain areas but having 5-10 Mbps on HSPA(+) everywhere else (20+ Mbps on LTE), JUMP! and unlimited everything makes up for it.
