"No Signal" message - but phone detects SIM cards - Windows Phone 8s by HTC

Hi,
Please can someone help? I have an unlocked HTC 8S phone (purchased from eBay), but no matter which SIM I use I get a "No Signal" message on the phone.
The phone detects the SIM cards (I've tried Three, Sainsburys, and O2) and it downloads the connection/configuration data, but I get a "No Signal" message - so I can't make calls or send texts. I can go on the Internet though...
Is there a problem with SIM card slot? Maybe the aerial?
Thinking about it now, perhaps the phone was stolen and original owner has blocked it(?) Would the above issues be as a result of a blocked phone?
Thanks,
Paul

[Q] Desire network connection issues

I bought a Desire (Orange UK locked and branded), unlocked it with an unlock code from HTCCode.com or similar and reflashed a stock ROM. Used it for around 6-9 months with no issues whatsoever. When I got my DHD I loaned it to my sister-in-law to borrow as her iPhone was playing up. After a few weeks she told me she was getting 'no signal'.
I checked the phone and I'm getting some strange symptoms. When using an O2 UK SIM (O2 is what has been used in it from purchase) it looks to be working okay (signal strength shows good) but when trying to make a call I get a "Mobile network not available" error. I tried manually setting the network and get the error "Your SIM card does not allow you to connect to this network." or "Unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later." All APN settings seem okay.
I have since been using it as a "play phone" and is now rooted, S-OFF and is running Oxygen-2.0.1 (Android 2.3.3).
Please help
You rung up O2? See if it is them.
Yeah, they say nothing to do with them. Also the SIM works in other phones.

Can't use foreign SIM card?

I'm currently in Taiwan for about a week, and am trying to use my T-mobile SGSII with a Taiwanese SIM card. I got my phone unlocked before I left, and I'm not getting any errors with the SIM card. However it looks like it's not working. I'm not seeing any network signal. If I try to search for a network it says "Error while searching for networks". If I try to select a network automatically, it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network."
Anything I'm missing?
Thanks!

Sim my be bad.... Check ur apn settings...make sure they r from the sim.
I went to el salvador and this girl kept dialing some numbers on keypad and #*# n they finally got it to work...if no luck take it to tech office
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Well I eventually gave up on getting the Taiwanese SIM card working, but now I'm back in the states and my phone can't seem to recognize my original T-mobile SIM card anymore. I can't get any sort of network connection, and I get the same error messages when trying to change the network settings. Wifi is working fine.
The SIM card is fine, because I popped it into an old unlocked dumb phone I had, and was able to make calls with it... any ideas?
Thanks!
So it looks like my phone is stuck in flight mode, although Wifi works. When I goto Settings > About Phone > Status, the Service state says "Radio off"...

[AUSTRALIA] "Check the USIM is installed. Cell phone function is limited." (sic)
Hey, I recently bought a LG Optimus G Pro online and got it posted to Australia. The Phone refuses to read any SIM cards that I install in it. I get an error saying "Check the USIM card is installed. Cell phone function is limited. Outgoing calls are only. -Emergency calls only" (sic) I have tried a TPG SIM card and a LycaMobile SIM card. I get the same error for both sim cards. If anyone knows any ways of resolving this issue I would appreciate your input
P.S I don't know what it means by "Outgoing calls are only" I cant send/receive calls or text messages.
Which variant did you buy? There is a possibility that device is network-locked, so you can't use it unless you unlock it.

GSM service stopped working ('No service'), even though SIM loaded

Hey guys,
I've got a problem.
My s4 mini stopped loading cell signal from GSM network service. The SIM is loaded, as I can see it even in some programmes like Network Info. It even shows the name of the operator.
Even though the SIM card is loaded (it does NOT show "no sim card" error), I cannot get any service. Used 2 different network service providers, but still nothing. I changed GSM antenas and also SIM+SDcard slots on the motherboard, but still nothing.
What can the cause be, any idea?
Thanks.

Replaced Mainboard - "Not registered on network", Network bars & IMEI present

Replaced Mainboard - "Not registered on network", Network bars & IMEI present
Hello, my Note2 phone had a call problem (would dial but no audio/voice) so I bought a cheap replacement board (ie no guarantee), seller said it needed firmware fix.
Swapped over and on boot saw a Kies prompt to reset firmware load - so I flashed TWRP and a Lineage rom in Odin and brought it back to life.
However, Network strength was zero and no calls possible. After many tweaks, swapping SIM cards, I reflashed stock 4.4.2 rom. Now I have good signal strength in the taskbar, my board IMEI is present but the dialler returns "not registered on network". Phone status shows signal strength, correct network but Service State - out of service and Mobile network state - Disconnected. Just flashed MODEM.tar.md5 but no change there.
Could this be a hardware issue? ie why the board was cheap? If so, is it the SIM reader (ie replaceable) or other component? Happy to cannibalise parts from 2 boards to make one working. Or maybe another soft issue I am not aware of?
thx
The sim card and SD card reader are contained in the same part and is swappable.
Does the phone detect a sim card? Is it possible the imei has been blacklisted?

Tried swapping that part, no joy; when I remove SIM and reboot I get the no sim card message. Yes a blacklist is possible who knows.
Considering throwing in the towel now, my main Note 2 makes calls, but has no NFC and no audio via jack; my 2nd cannot make/receive calls and now the 'replacement' board is possibly toast. Might just part out the lot and get a new phone now
You can check the imei for blacklisting here: https://swappa.com/esn
