Requirements:
Flashtool 0.9.15 by @Androxyde
XZDualRecovery 2.7.90 BETA or newer.
Current rooted FW version: 14.3.A.0.681.
Special features:
SuperSU integrated in system, FULL ROOT!
XZDualRecovery 2.7.115 BETA (CWM & PhilZ Touch & TWRP) pre-installed;
init.d support (read how to enable)
For both locked and unlocked bootloaders!
In the following guide I suggest you use an external SDCard but that's just good practice, you can use your internal storage or even an USB OTG storage device in TWRP if you like to install, that's no problem!... If you are modding and the likes, best is to have an external sdcard, just for safeties sake.
If you are unable to download torrent files directly, have http://zbigz.com/ do it for you!
How to update to 14.3.A.0.757:
Files (Find them on the DevDB Download tab!):
For C6902: Download C6902_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip (1004MB) and C6902_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6903: Download C6903_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip (893MB) and C6903_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6906: Download C6906_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip (952MB) and C6906_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
For C6943: Download C6943_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip (985MB) and C6943_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
Save them somewhere you remember;
Put 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
Flash 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.757.flashable.zip' in TWRP (if you notice your phone reboot during the update process, update to the latest XZDualRecovery and try again);
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;
Reboot to system.
The first boot will be slow and after some time at the boot animation you will see Android start optimizing the apps on your phone.
Enjoy! :laugh:
Want to De-ODEX your ROM?
@RyokoN has kindly provided a flashable package for this purpose, download it here (MEGA Download). Make sure you wipe the DALVIK-CACHE after you flash it.
@RHBH has also created a deodex package and will do so for all variant releases. Check out his thread here.
Need some help?
@shem2409 has made a video guide to aid you in the update process:
Thanks buddy, great work, as always!
Known XZDualRecovery Issues:
Busybox Updater/Installer: If you have XZDualRecovery installed, un-install any Busybox updating app/tool as most if not all of them will install a version of busybox which does not support the lzma compression applets XZDualRecovery depends on. The version installed together with XZDualRecovery is very stable and I have yet to hear anyone complain about it's stability.
How to report errors:
Please, before shouting out "It doesn't work!!1!" or "I lost root!" or even "My phone reboots when remounting /system RW!!" try the following:
Restore any JB 4.2.2 FTF using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
Root it using any means you are familiar with.
Install XZDualRecovery;
Update to 14.2.A.1.136;
Then try to update again using TWRP.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /sdcard1/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me or attach them to your bug report.
Thank you

What version of rom is your flasheable zip?

Will try this tonight after work. Good job nut!!!

I have few questions:
Currently I have C6903 Xperia Z1
4.2.2 (JB) with XZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.75 and locked bootloader
1. There is no way to update directly from rooted 14.1.G.2.257 to 14.3.A.0.757? If not what is order updates? .290 >> .136 >> .681?
2. Can I use this DualRecovery: Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.7.115-BETA.installer.zip (10.18MB) or i need another version?
3. I must first uninstall my old recovery and after that install new version?

Don't complicate things Mr.
You're already rooted, with recovery. That's all that matters. You don't need to uninstall recovery and all that.
This is how I did mine.
Backup your Internet memory onto your pc or onto your ext sd card. (wiping it is safer for me for 100% no causes of problems).
Download the latest which is. 757
Place in your ext sd card.
Download the stripped FTF and place in the firmware folder of flashtool
(update flashtool from 0.9.13 to 0.9.15 please as it will give your error if you use the old one).
Boot your .290 to recovery, wipe everything except your external sd card.
Install. 757 and don't reboot yet. Just power off.
Go to flashtool and flash the stripped FTF.
Boot and enjoy.

Just install the newest recovery over your old one. It's ok.
You don't have to upgrade to 290 first. Just download the above files and directly upgrade to 757.

Well if that's what it states, it's fairly the easiest thing to do. Update to 90 by downloading the flasheable one.
Flash it, reboot back to recovery and follow the process to update to 757

Flashing was ok.
Spotting the apos I had deleted was easy: I made a backup with titanium before flashing, so when launching again titanium after flashing, it lists on top all apps with no backups.
Now I am restoring all backups: there are some com.android.xyz apps that seems have been removed, maybe just newer versions in this update?

Waiting version C6902 to be released ")

I have a C6902 waiting on nut to release it. I am currently on NUT .136 and i will update as soon as he releases it. What are the steps? I have UB and rooted already.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttt!
Dunno why but restoring backups from titanium, moved all my Chrome favourites to MOBILE FAVOURITES in one single list!!! Why?!
is there a way to put all them in place?

This is new.......

Unlocked bootloader?
To be able to use this ROM without any special tweaking, download C6903_14.2.A.1.136_kernel.img and
Code:
fastboot flash boot C6903_14.2.A.1.136_kernel.img
Or use flashtool to flash it.
It is a kernel repack, with only one change. To confirm you are running this kernel, check if the file '/nuts_repack' exists.
DE-ODEX your ROM!
Make sure you have the flashable ROM installed before you do this.
Download C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip (Bittorrent: 412MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip' in recovery, do not reboot but go back to the main menu;
Clear dalvik-cache ONLY;
Reboot to system.
The first boot after flashing this you will see Android optimizing the apps on your phone, this might take a while... but should be just fine

FAQ & Tips and Tricks
Easy switching between locked and unlocked bootloader states!
NOTE: USE TWRP ONLY for this guide.
NOTE 2: You NEED to have XZDualRecovery 2.7.43 or higher to make this work.
Create a backup, including the Trim Area (TA!)
Unlock your bootloader
Restore backup without TA
Create a new backup of your UNLOCKED TA
Restore the previous TA backup to relock your phone.
Done :good:
Now you can switch between locked and unlocked bootloaders quick and painless: no more system wipes and you can basically do whatever you want
How to enable init.d support:
Open a filemanager app and navigate to the location where the XZDualRecovery folder is located and go in to it. Open XZDR.prop as a text file and set dr.initd.active to true.
NOTE: For this guide ROM it means the init.d script called 99SuperSUDaemon will kick in to action, so it's best to disable (by setting chmod 644) /system/etc/install-recovery.sh for the time being or to clear it's contents.
Done
Downgrading to a 4.2 ROM:
Download C6903_14.1.G.1.534_[NUT].ftf (Bittorrent: 770MB) and flash it using FlashTool. I've also added the FTF to the downloads page on this DevDB tab, this will allow straight downloads as well.
This FTF will allow you to downgrade to .534 without loss of your IMEI :good:
Thanks to @mharckk and @MohammadAG for the workaround which contributed to the creation of this FTF.
ROM STATUS: STABLE
At this moment, running out of time to sleep before work tomorrow, I have to put this online still with a SEMI-ROOT
Fortunately recovery is working well, so I will be able to release a simple patch once I crack this one :good:
No patch required, it was my sleep deprived stupidity which resulted in a stupid mistake!
Hahaaaa nice work mon ami ^_^

I'm not much of a developer, but there is one thing im good at seeding! :good:

For this version, yes... Will try to find a solution tonight...
The rom is fine to use and some root tasks can still be performed, using recovery you are able to install just about everything... Provided it is flashable of course
Yes, I know. BTW great work. I need RW because I would like to uninstall some apps.
Anyway. I'm waiting for Your magic.

Only with a patched ramdisk on the stock kernel I'm afraid... I can do that though, it's not that hard
If anyone wants a patched ramdisk-kernel for this ROM, let me know. I won't integrate a recovery though, just the RW patch.
BIG NOTE: it is intended for use on an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER ONLY then ... just FYI
Because of your question @mynameisjon I reallized that with the guide in post #2, it should be fairly easy to switch between locked and unlocked TA+kernel sets

Yes sir, it contains all the bits the flashable zip can not flash. I did not check if the kernel itself changed to be honest, so maybe this ROM will work fine on any .290 kernel... but i still need to test that.

Cool
This sounds really awesome, but I am not sure if am brave enough to try this. Are there any chances of bricking my phone? Has someone else tried this and can tell me his experience with it, does the new rom work flawlessly?

About bricking -- I have an error while installing first build. IMHO, for now maximum possible damage is soft-brick, that can be fixed with your nandriod backup or flashing via Flashtool
I been using ihackers ROM for a few weeks without this just by editing the aroma and recovery

Yes please show me how

Deleting some of the aroma that's made for the Z1 devices firmware. Replace the Recovery's and delete I hacker kernel and replace doom kernel with D5503 version. Replace build.prop with D5503 that's pretty much it, then added my own mods

Think we can get the GPE port of the Z ultra that was ported to the Z1 ported to our Z1c?
Hi, I would like to use the iHacker rom built for the Z1, if I flash this (with the patch) does it mean that the kernel is still stock and I don't loose DRM functions?
Step 5 of your instuctions 'flash 4.2.A.1.142 firmware via flashtool' what options do we have to select with the flashtool? what do we wipe/exclude?
I have already rooted my Z1c and backed up the TA partition, the bootloader is still locked so am looking for a way to try and get a custom rom installed.
Thanks
Edit: just seen the picture for which options in flashtool, wish I'd read the OP properly, doh
If I understand the process correctly the last step flashes the whole of the latest z1c firmware except the system partition so you end up with the stock z1c firmware and the patched dystem partition containing the custom rom. Not tried it myself yet but will give it a go once I've rooted.

Thank you so much for this patch. I have a hard time deciding between monox and ihackers rom : )
14.2.A.1.142 firmware for Z1 Compact could you share the MD5 signature please; it's a huge file and therefore more chances of a corrupt download.

I tested this and it doesn't completely work.
About shows baseband version as unknown
No SIM detected and Wifi stuck at turning on
Although the monx custom rom has reboot options, power long-press shows stock options.
Powering off hangs indefinitely with progress meter running.

Want to deodex?
Use the packages from this thread by @RHBH :good:
Install XZDualRecovery;
Update to 14.2.A.1.136;
Then try to update again using TWRP.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /sdcard1/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me or attach them to your bug report.
Thank you

FAQ & Tips and Tricks
Camera problems?
You have 3 things to try to fix it, try them one at a time:
Clear dalvik-cache only;
Clear the camera app settings;
Do a factory reset in TWRP or PhilZ (this should keep your internal storage safe);
flash the ROM package again;
boot until you can test the camera;
If it works go back to recovery to restore a backup of data.

It should work, but as I have no ZL to play with nor did I test it on anything else then 101 I'd say: create a solid backup and just go for it. In theory it should work between any stock rom based on 4.2.2 and up.

Once more we must thank @Nut a lot for making it possible to have the latest Xperia FW with root. Thanks very much. Still I have one question. On .569 and .101 though I installed the SuperSU fix, after installing rom, I still had problems using Foldermount with remount/reboot issue.
Then I solved it again applying your Remount/Reboot fix tool kit.
Could you please tell me if the issue hapens again with 4.4.2, I will be able to fix with the same tool?
Best regards.

Foldermount really needs to get fixed somehow because the reboot remount fix is fully integrated in xzdualrecovery... It's probably even better in xzdualrecovery then in the fix... Foldermount probably does something which just sets all alarms off in the rom or screws about with something zygote goes mad about...

@RHBH has created a deodex package for each of these releases.
Restore any KitKat FTF using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
Root it using the Easy Root Tool by @zxz0O0 and install XZDualRecovery, or
Install XZDualRecovery using option 3 in the installer menu (installation on unrooted ROM)
Then try to update again using TWRP.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /sdcard1/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me or attach them to your bug report.
Thank you

It replaces perfectly rooted .761 (C6903), too
Tested by myself using dualrecovery 2.7.132 BETA
I used last Flashtool 0.9.16.1
It's a really good firmware version
I can't find something I don't like this time
Thank you again Nut

It will probably work when coming from any JB or KitKat version, but I tend to keep it a safe bet on the OP
So where is this firmware based? I mean, the countrry, like FR AE and such? Also, if i already have rooted .108 (4.4.4) on my z1 C6903, can i just flash the zip file in twrp and not the ftf anymore? Also, can i dirty flash it?

IF you're on 108 already, why bother?
The 03 version is based on the French release. 02 is India, 06 is US and 43 is Brazil.

I'm on unlocked bootloader, so I'm not in position to test it...
You could try to create a backup of your data partition and then do a factory reset from TWRP. This will not mess with your internal storage if you don't want it to.
Then see if it turns on again. Could be something changed in how it gets addressed in the config...

But seeing you have an unlocked bootloader as well... X-Reality should not even work anymore ever since you unlocked it...
Could someone please post the file called libmmcamera_tintless_algo.so?

Yeah but it worked in 4.4.2 and after flashing 4.4.4 it stopped working, and factory data rest didn't work.

Well... sorry bro: you have to either relock the bootloader or live without X-Reality ... its a placebo anyway.

woop. I guess I won't update for now!
Is there SdCard read&write issue on this firmware too mate? I meant, do we have to edit permission.xml file again after flashing this? I am currently not able to move apps to sd nor i can use third part backup&restore apps like " GOBACKUP" with 4.4.2 , but with the 532 stock kernel i can do it. Issue is still there on the firmware 14.3.A.0.757 stripped by NUT I need your help man. I used everything on XDA, no hope.
