I have not figured this out myself. I went to bed and when I woke up it was already off

If you want to turn it off you unplug it. It's meant to be on 24/7.
It does go to sleep after 30 minutes, but pressing any button will wake it up.

If you have a PC keyboard with a power button you can use it to power it on or off. In my case on a Logitech K520 with unifying receiver, Fn + F11 has the power on/off PC logo on it.

So it want kill it to just let it run.

I know this topic is very old but encase anyone wants to know.
Amazon has added a Sleep option under
Settings > System > Sleep
if you don't want it on for 30min or so.

Excellent, don't know why I forgot about that one. Maybe it's the jetlag and no sleep for nearly 2 days. Glad it's sorted.
Edit: knew it was something simple.

Devide Bricked?

Well i let my device drain to 0 percent last night. It turned on after i plugged it in to the charger but because it had no battery it died right away. Then the phone would not turn on anymore, all it does when i hold the power button is vibrate. When plugged in the notification light does not work and neither does taking off the battery. Can any 1 help? Is there a way to soft reset the phone?
Plug it in with the battery let it charge for like 3 hours then turn it on

Capacitive buttons

Mine haven't come on(backlight) at all from day one. Anyone else? I know people have complained about the duration being short but I get nothing at all..

There should be an app that you can use to turn them on. Also are you using power saving mode at all?
Turn off power save mode.. if they still don't turn on, use the app "Galaxy Button Lights" from the Play Store and see if you can manually turn them on.. if not, your device is defective.
I am using a power save mode. Let me check.
