I can't get rid or disable City ID. It causes the 4G icon to stay in the status bar when I'm on wifi. I go into settings and disable it, yet it is still there when I receive calls showing me what city they're number is from. I have cleared defaults, data and everything else for the app and even rebooted.

hope you all doing good..
since 2 hours my Internet connection is not working on my desire,,it was working in afternoon but not since evening..
when on the internet, its shows a Sync sign on my notification bar But nothing sync & only upload bar is ON and download bar is off, so not able to open any web page.. and the other thing is my internal memory shows 60mb free which earlier showed as 50mb.. so i'm little confused here. whats going on..
need help from you guys,so should i make my internet work.

First of all, what ROM are you running, or are you still running on HTC's factory Sense? Secondly are you using WIFI or cellular network? And how do you know that your internet connection is not working? Give us some more detail to work with
i have not root my phone,,im running official gingerbread on my desire & using htc factory sense..
i'm trying to use cellular network,,dont have wi-fi.
i'm not able to open any webpage or android market...there is sync icon on notification icon which appears once i connect to cellular network & nothing happens..
Just for asking, but have you tried rebooting your phone?
Also, do you know of anyone else who is using the same carrier, and check if they are having the same issues?
Did you maybe skip your contract limit?
I'm asking you these questions, to be able to isolate the problem, and not just point fingers at your phone
yes i reboot my phone,removed battery & again restarted,,but still internet doesnot work..
nope,,non of my friends are facing this issue & net is working my other nokia phone..and still 850mb data is available for me to use,,

This problem is dwindling down to be related to your mobile.
Are you using an APN? If so, can you open it, write down the settings, *delete it* reboot your phone and create a new one with the same settings?
If you are not, I'm beginning to run out of ideas of what could be causing you this issue.

You may want to try one last thing. Swap your sim into another mobile from which you can access your carrier network and access your internet from it. If it works then I'm afraid you're going to have to take your mobile for repair since you're still on stock rom. If not then somethings up with your contract, and should contact your carrier for an explanation.

I suggest you talk to your contract carrier since it seems that your phone is not the problem.

Hey, for some reason my mobile data/gps decided to stop working this morning.
I used my data on my way home from work last night, set the phone to charge and when I left I noticed I had no data connection.
I check throughout the day and nothing but I continued to get text messages and calls.
Sending MMS message also seemed to have stopped working.
Is it something thats messed up with my phone? I tried changing settings in the ROM, going back to stock, nothing seemed to have worked. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

make sure that your apn is set correctly

Call your provider and confirm that you still have a data package on your plan. Im not sure how long you had your phone or if you got a new phone but whenever i switch between phones and ATT scans for the new IMEI number and it doesnt match what they have, they always kick my data off and then i have to call them to have it added back.

I had to replace my first HTC M8 because of an unrelated issue, and yet it still had the constant 4G icon. I also had Titanium Backup unistall it.
Is there anyway to disable this **** bloatware? I am seriously fed up with it. Maybe call AT&T and tell them to disable City ID?

if you're rooted, which i'm assuming since you're running titanium backup, i think you could just install a clean custom ROM for sense that has everything beautifully debloated. Although the thing is i'm not sure that problem really has to do with City ID. Happened to me before on previous phones, custom rom or not.
I have no problem on it. everything is ok and using smoothly.

In the last week or so, my phone has started some weird behavior on my work wifi.
If I'm using an app, I have network connectivity. But if I'm not manually refreshing, nothing comes through. After being on wifi there for a couple hours, then either leave or turn off wifi, suddenly I get a flood of emails, Voxer, group me, eBay, etc. Basically all data related sync notifications do not come through.
It gets more strange. At home on wifi, this isn't an issue.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the work network?

This is happening to me with gmail on my home Wi-Fi. Then when I hit mobile data my mail comes through. Tried multiple apps, factory reset etc and to no avail.
Seems like a dns block. Maybe your work has setup the network to block anything not work related. As it should be.
In another thread the app "telegram" is responsible for similar behaviour. Delete it.

Hi,
my Z Play has stock nougat ROM and I have a big problem.
If I go out of a WiFi network area, the phone switches to mobile network. Signal shows full. But if I start apps like TuneIn or make a Google web search or anything like this, it doesn't work. It loads and loads and loads forever.
So I have to switch it to airplane mode and back and then it works.
WhatsApp comes to my device in this case, but nothing bigger.
Does someone have this problem, too and can help me what I can do?
That's really annoying. Sometimes it lost connection while I'm in mobile network, then I have to do the airplane mode thing, too....
Yep...doing this since yesterday when I got nougat...Of course Verizon sending a new sim..will let u know if it fixes..This update screwed this phone
