Anyone know whats up with Slimbean / Slimkat for the S3? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey all,
I don't see any particular threads here for Slimbean or Slimkat so there doesn't appear to be a better place to try get information on these roms for the S3.
Here's the site link (for ref):
http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/408-d2att-d2tmo
Up until the release of Slimbean, I've had a flawless experience with Slimrom packs with all my Samsung devices, but the most current Kitkat versions seem to do nothing but explode and never work almost as if there's a kenneling issue.
I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about Slimroms having testing issues or reducing their compatibility for some devices.
I'm half worried I'm gonna have to start looking for a new set of roms for my devices =(.

That's actually the latest version I'm running (build 1738).
With SlimKat is the problem though. It seems like everything after this build explodes on the Galaxy S3.
I'll post in that thread and see if it gets some responses, but they've released several builds since this thread.

Yes I know they haven't updated the thread but there is people that post new links to the updates in the thread

Great thread, i was just going to start one myself. - as noted on the Google+ page for CM, these are more of Weekies so depending on what kang version you use, it may be the latest and greatest on cutting edge technology.
also if you are interested in trying out a Gapps version that was meant for android 4.1.1 check out Formula84's version here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31532-gapps-411-398337-jro03c-gapps-package-081112/
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND they are not officially supported by goo.im so if you have any errors, i recommend a clean flash and revert back to the latest goo.im JB Gapps.

Not all the Kangs are pointless. Euroskank has some extra additions and until having some issues yesterday I found it to be as fast and stable as the official I am running now.
Also, I ran the newest AOKP and it was great. I will probably switch back to it when they release their "stable" ROM which I heard is very soon.

Hey so I see a new nightly is up for the toro but its labeled CM9, I thought they were done developing cm9 ? Am I wrong or is it just mislabeled and actually cm10?

EDIT:
Looks like cm10 builds for night may be starting to roll out. At least the crespo has one... so maybe we will see a toro release later on or tomorrow

[Q] rom update

are all developers working on getting android 4.2 on the s3 i747?
just wondering
thanks
Take a look at the Android Original Development Forum for this device. Task650 has released an AOKP 4.2 based ROM with minor bugs and CM has released official 10.1 which is 4.2.1. These builds are only 5 days old and contain some minor bugs.

Yes, which is why there are overall less updates being rolled out. The 2 mentioned above are the only 2 at the moment that actually work. There's 2 more I believe, but they're there so that people can help with it's development. They're not fit for every day use. Task's 4.2 is pretty neat, but it's missing a lot of the old aokp features and has (as stated) some minor, but very noticeable bugs. Personally, I'm waiting for the 4.2 release of paranoidkangdroid. And if you want something very stable and nearly bug free. Wait another week or two, maybe three.

[ROM] [JB43] [Linaro 4.8.3] AWESOME AUDIO ROM | HERCULES | AWESOME 1.8 GHz Kernel

Hey everyone,
I've been building these builds for a long time now. I started small and hardly had anything different from the original CM ROM when I started. Now I have CM with Pie and HALO as well as many other small tweaks. I used to focus on the Audio Aspect but now I care more about performance. We already have another CM based ROM that has Viper Audio so I'll just stick with DSP Based Awesome Beats. That was my classic setup so we'll stick with it. 4.3 Audio has never been as good as the 4.2.2 that I used to build unfortunately hence why my new focus is performance. For the record, I use Poweramp Pro now and I enjoy having the Equalizer built into the app. Works great!
Here is how my ROM differs from CM:
- My builds are ALL built with Linaro 4.8.3 for the ROM and Linaro 4.7.4 for the Kernel.
- BLUE THEMED ICON SET
- AWESOME 1.8 GHz Kernel (see here for more details)
- HALO ))) with extended Color options
- PIE Control (also with Color options)
- Modded Trebuchet from sgt7 github
- More Animation options (.25 and .75)
- Additional build.prop and init.d tweaks for better speed and sound.
- AWESOME BEATS
- Zero Lag!
- SONY WALKMAN (Optional)
- Consider Using Nova Launcher for additional speed
[DOWNLOAD LINKS]
All builds on DevDB which you can find by clicking here
Flashable bootanimation! - This is so you can replace the bootanimation after installing other kernels. All credit goes to @mhassan11x! He not only made the boot animation but he also made this flashable boot animation reinstall kit for us.
Flashable Walkman for use in other ROMs.
Other builds can be found at goo.im/devs/Cl3Kener
Installation instructions
1. For best results a FULL wipe is required. Please back up your ROM before you begin!!!
2. Download any of the above links and latest JB 4.3.x Gapps
3. Reboot into recovery with TWRP 2.6.1.0
4. Flash the ROM
5. Flash Gapps
6. Flash WALKMAN (Link above and it's optional)
7. Reboot
8. Install Trickster MOD from Play store so you can tweak the kernel settings the way you like. Performance menu works but does not allow you to tweak all options.
For an upgrade to newer version you can "dirty flash" although you will need to fix file permissions afterwards. I recommend using ROM Manager because it does the most thorough job!.

I'm posting this because the latest nightly for Hercules is only 4.2.1. I've had a few requests through PM for this file and so I'm just putting it up for those that don't know how to build their own unofficial Cyanogenmods that are dying to try out 4.2.2. I also am working on uploading my new tweaked version for later today. Thank you though for making sure I was aware the the codes have finally been merged. I appreciate you keeping me for making an idiot of myself.

Thanks a lot man. I'm new like you to droids. Would love to learn how you compiled and what you used to do it. Noob to Linux, but a 15 year student of the PC. I don't want to impose but I'd love to earn my "recognized developer" title. Team up? I'd be starting from scratch. But my MCSE should come in handy for some things.

Thanks Cory! You're one of my xda idols. If I'd have known you were planning on posting more of you AWESOME MOD's but this time with CM10.1 as your base with 4.2.2 I wouldn't have started this thread.... Maybe I can still do some cool things here though until your thread goes live.

while its cool you learned to compile the builds. It just sucks when the forums get filled with people who say they got made this or that or got this to work... But really they are just building other peoples work.. Its annoying and can be confusing to some.

I noticed that same question posted on the Cyanogenmod Facebook page recently and nobody seemed to have cared to respond. I assume like other Cyanogenmods they only change numbers if it's a completely new android version like 4.1 to 4.2 I think other smaller updates (like 4.2.1 to 4.2.2) don't count. I could be wrong though. Any other thoughts? Should I rename this thread?

[ROM] -android 4.2.2 - VANIR 4.002 nightlies

First and foremost, this IS NOT my ROM nor am i a developer. This thread is solely for sharing a ROM that many may not no about. This ROM is created by DHO and the Vanir team. Most of you may no the Hybryd ROM and Commotio ROM from rootzwiki. On the other hand i believe that many gnex owners do not no about the vanir ROM. The vanir ROM is used as a base for thier other two but this one is feature rich. Its lean, stable, fast, and has great support. DHO likes to keep a low profile on xda. Therefore, he has given me permission to share at my will.
OK guys. An update on the thread. I spoke to primedirective from team vanir and DHO was not aware that a vanir thread was started. I didn't not no to for its only a couple weeks old. So to respect primes wishes and to respect the official vanir thread, i will be closing this one. Please understand that this was a humble and right decision. This was a real experience for me and i never seen a thread blow up and with the best group i ever encountered like this one. I am going to pursue building on my own with primes and team vanirs guidance in the near future. But for now we are at this point and really, i enjoyed this and i have nothing but love for yall.......
I left the links up for everyone and i put up a new for the official thread for the gsm users. The Verizon thread also has an official commotio and hybrid ROM. There is also the atom rom too...I didn't put that link up but you all no how to get there. Also you can find them on rootzwiki. Don't forget, you can visit there git for requests and there freenode for support.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::

At the moment, there's no 4.2
The only 4.2 option is CM 10.1 right now. I doubt we will see 4.2 officially until some time after the S IV is released with 4.2
Try one of the cm based builds. I've been on the slimbean Rom for about a week and its absolutely fantastic. Great interface tweaks and great battery life. I haven't had any issues with it at all. Faux kernel is what I've been running with.

I think you'll only need to wait for another couple months. With the S4 being launched today, you'll likely see the code released as an update for the older devices.
The only real question is if the premium suite will be included and if so, will it include some of the new S4 features?
