Which services/processes can be disabled without affecting stability? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Stock, unrooted Tab 3 10.1.
For the most part I am looking at disabling the Samsung bloat ware and unnecessary applications but want to make sure I don't disable something that will cause instability.
Thanks

Try "Clean Master" free from play store this allows you to remove a lot of bloatware.

Titanium back up will do. It'll let you back up what you wanna delete, I would recommend freezing it first before uninstalling, cause if your system becomes unstable you can just restart your tab to working order.
Must have root tho

It would take me some time to list all the system apps that I have deleted. So instead, I did a screen capture of those system files I kept. One day I deleted some off this list and ended up having to reload from my last backup. So I must have deleted something I shouldn't have. Anyway, I am sure there are more that can be deleted but right now this is what is running my P5210.
I used NoBloat Pro to do my house cleaning. But the biggest thing is even before doing anything, I loaded TWRP, Rooted, then did a backup from TWRP. That gives me a base level to work from. After cleaning some obvious files off (Printers, Fonts, Google apps that I just do not need) I would do another backup. Then I would continue after making sure the Tab was still working. I think I did 6 or 7 levels of backups before I crashed the tab and had to move back one level of restore.
This is not the end all of cleans but at least it will give you an idea of what I think is bloat.
Remember: These are the files that remain on the Tab. Not the files removed
Disclaimer... If you copy what I have and you end up with a damaged or unusable P5210 device, I am in no way responsible. This works for me and how I use my tab. It may not work for you.
Good luck

Thank you for posting that. I actually went back to stock after finding the custom Roms available too buggy (not that I can do better). Im finding the battery life is still the same as the custom Roms (5 hours screen on time) even with all of the bloatware present.

You should not post the apk of OEM proprietary utilities like swype and thinkoffice etc. There is a clear policy about what can be shared and what not.

I figured if they originally came with Android, it would be OK to post them for re-installation. Consider them removed.
Thanks,

Its ok to redistribute them if it comes with the phone

No. That's also wrong. Read this and post this in that forum.

Since when did word up get included in froyo rom? Isn't it a market game app?
Also, isn't microbes a gingerbread live wallpaper ported over from Nexus S?

yes it is, and a mighty good one at that.
I thought I had taken all the games out that got in that folder by mistake.

But the i9000 has the official licenses to use swpe....that's why it came built in! It clearly states that its ok to distribute if its the original form that came cooked in the rom, but then it also says no standalone apks so that seems like a gray area to me
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Its not gray area. Cooking the apk into a ROM that is meant to work only on i9000 is fine and allowed but posting an apk that CAN be used by devices apart from i9000 or can be modified in any way so that it works on devices not part of the OEM is not allowed.

These will not work on CM9 due to the touchwiz frame work.
If you want to try and make the Apk. itself then here are the instructions:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/porting-touchwiz-apps-for-cm7.html
Also, if you too want a certain app for CM7/CM9 there is a thread where you can make suggestions to do so here:

What AT&T stuff can I uninstall?

Hi all - I just rooted my US-model AT&T GS3. What pre-installed AT&T crap can I safely "Chuck Norris" with Titanium?
Thanks!!

Look into the dev threads for ROMs. You should be able to see the list of apps the devs have deleted (you should be able to find this in the OP in the list of apps taken out).
Since you have TiBu, and seem fairly new here, I would recommend you freeze the apps in TiBu rather than delete them.

OK, excellent, thanks! I hadn't gotten as far as looking into custom ROMs to install yet. This is a great help!!
These are great being disabled on stock ROMs as well.

Additional notes **
Build.prop has been heavily modified, a list of some of the common tweaks, some rarer ones. This mostly interacts with the system as far as battery and performance goes.
gps.conf has been changed with the one by Crypted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880411
Framework change now supports 4-way Advanced Reboot Menu thanks to mikeramsay. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277540
Init.d script sets SDCard to read at 2048 KBps on first boot.
Home Screen button lag can be cured by disabling "Open via the home key" in S Voice. [thanks MikeRamsay]
Now using the 4.2.2 keyboard.
Though there is support in the build.prop for AC!D Audio Mod, they have kindly requested no kangs, so you may flash it independant. Same goes for Bravia Engine 3.
TreveMod_Wifi_Tether has been included thanks to Team Synergy and member TrEvE. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988735
Forced GPU Rendering for all applications by removing a line in /lib/egl/egl.cfg
I recommend KT747 kernel. But this comes with stock kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
There may been something very small that I missed. With that said, it is the first release and there will be more to come of this. Thanks.
Not like I've done much here, but please feel free to use this as a base, or to even make changes to. Just make sure you credit the people I have credited, and link to them. Please do NOT credit me. Thanks.
Supremacy v3 script included, thanks to ewmno! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928200

Mine.
Just in case.
We remove pretty much the same exact things lol. I wish this was the base every one would use for "debloated roms". Great job on getting this out to people.
Spring cleaning at it's best lol. Thanks for sharing bro.

No, sorry I confirmed I removed a file I wasn't supposed to, MTPApplication.apk. I'll upload it for you to push to system/app if you want. Reuploading the ROM as we speak though.
Push this. Give it 777 permissions.

Hmm strange. Sorry to hear that. I've pushed that same file over multiple roms and bases, never had a problem.
Fairly certain I pulled it from Jovys now that I think about it. Maybe try pulling that same file from another rom w/the boosted sound
Does it have any app in mw included? ..

It depends on which APK's you use E.g. Calender, Samsung account etc but I will try and write up a list of "safe to remove" APK's.
I know this answer wont be much help! But give me a bit of time and will get that posted.
It is easier for me to write down what is left on my system
So, here it is. Every other .apk and it's appropriate lib has been removed from my system folder. I have also deleted kies folder from system/etc and samsung tts folder from system/tts. The only thing that is broken is settings/about device/ system updates, if you try to open it settings will force close. That is not an issue for me as we are never going to get any updates. Some of the apps below can also be deleted (such as the calendar, clock widgets, wallpapers, fm radio etc.) according to the users preferences. Also, don't forget to replace the crucial apps you removed, like in my case TouchWiz Launcher and Keyboard, with the alternative ones. I have not removed gapps completely, just the apks, so I could easily put them back if I need to (I only need play store from time to time, and the phone runs pretty smooth and fast without them).
List:
Code:
AnalogClockSimple.apk
AutoPreconfig.apk
BadgeProvider.apk
BluetoothAvrcp.apk
BluetoothMap.apk
CertInstaller.apk

Try this.
Finally, I've tried to delete those bloatwares according to the reference above, I mean, you know, I left listed bloatwares on my phone.. and it really is surprisingly amazing..
no lag, more responsive, etc..
however (there's a however), I have this LINE app, I'm sure most of you know it, it wouldn't work anymore.. when I open the app, it just blackscreen and return to homescreen, or shows pop up that says "unfortunately LINE has stopped responding; wait ok" something like that..
what to do?
thank you in advance,,
cheers..
update: now, even google play won't work..

Just tried it. LINE works great without Gapps. Even tested Google Play. Google Play works when I push Phonesky.apk, GoogleLoginService.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk back to system folder. You must have done something wrong when removing bloatware.

You could try to leave Google Play Services as well. I cannot remember the exact name of the .apk file it is something GMSCore.... They automatically install on my phone when I start Play Store.. Maybe that is the issue. Also, try clearing the framework and play store data and then reboot your device.
i just unnistall some samsung app and make my device smoother

thanks for the report.... I have also taken steps to eliminate by the script some apk that may be necessary which must not be deleted for the normal operation of the device (eg. sync contacts google).
