I tried to upgrade andunlock my v 1640. at the end of the upgrade proccess I got error and after that I cannot open the device even in boot loader!
Is there any other key combination except power+light+reset that can help or it must be sent to Vodafone?

are you sure the bootloader is not working? sometimes is hard to see...do you get any errors?
Universal upgrades shouldn't touch the bootloader so maybe there's some hope

I am writing this from NZ where our internet is still slow haha,
I am looking at getting a hand with unlocking my okta boss (NZ version of the Libra100/HTC s720)
It is still running WM5 and i want to upgrade, I see that HTC has an update out and when i try to run it it comes up with Error 294 invalid vendor ID.
I assume that this is because i need to unlock my phone.
Or is there another way to upgrade my phone to wm6?
any advice would be great,

I have try this method, but in step 2 I get an error in the htc that says "upgrade Rom code error please try again" and in the pc It says error 226 flash error, can anyone help me? thanks for all.

it fell over with the following message
