Okay guys, the time has come: we want to port Sense 5.5 to our Ascend P6!

as you can see, this is the real Sense 5 ROM on a Mediatek device!
so, if its possible on that kind of phone, it SHOULD be 60% possible to port it also to our phone.
I will try to teach myself porting and building ROM's and I need YOUR help!

Good to see new developers here or people who want to learn it. First of all I would help you to do that, I really like the look of sense. But why port a JB Rom with an old sense version when you could port the new sense 6 with KK. I'm a longtime HTC user and missing Sense after buying a Ascend P7, so I was hoping to find som expirience among other users of the P family. But apparently you where the only one who was interrestet in a Sense on Ascend P solition?
I am on CM right now and without help i can't a ROM like Sense 6 unfortunately :/

My previous phone was galaxy ace.. all the Chinese roms were more stable and it was was awesome.
If I campare it too galaxy nexus, it has already so many roms.

So intresting. I'm Chinese too and I'm accustomed to looking for roms at XDA-dev or directly from CM or AOKP sites. Some Chinese roms are more than just unstable because unwanted softwares are preinstalled, which can be fairly annoying sometimes. For me, Chinese roms means chaos and roms here stands for stability and purity.
Anyway, thx 4 sharing the roms!

Hey buddy, I think you're on the wrong thread here... That phone is nowhere near to a GNex in terms of specs or anything... As it is a chinese copy, I doubt that any development is made for those cheap phones... You can search the internet, but I doubt that you'll find anything. The spare parts for those phones are also very rare so the only thing you can do with that phone is not to break it... but it look's like it has broken... Good luck

Don't know if gizmochina is a reliable source of information.. but i'm sure about another thing.
At the moment, KK roms, compared to JB (B125), aren't good: bad performance, laggy, some bugs.. (for example.. i hate that 3G icon stucked in the status bar when mobile data are switched off)
I don't understand Huawei.. they release a lot of beta, new UI, new os. Is to so hard to make only ONE well optimized update?

sadly that isnt what the community wants..
when Huawei started to improve the old firmware, everybody was going crazy because they don"t release the KitKat software.
So they brought out the KitKat software and everyone was going crazy that the software was not optimized.. so Huawei will start to improve this software too..
and i bet most of the people will blame Huawei for not giving the new Android L for the P6 but giving new updates on Kitkat which will improve the system.... but that are only my 2 cents about the community...

This is true. According to Huawei, the P6/P6S will get the update in November. I don't have a link to the Chinese Huawei forum, but that was where I saw this info first.

I also asked the chinese people in the comments, one of them answered that its true that the p6 will get EMUI 3.0 in November. So nothing lost in translation.
November could be a beta release, and the beta firmware being incompletely packed. So 1 month of beta test, and then another month of waiting for offical release, which means the stable complete version would be released on January.

We still don't have a fully functional, bug free or optimised EMUI 2.0/2.3 - Android 4.4.x Rom, yet they're moving ahead with EMUI 3.0?
For many people, including myself, EMUI 1.6 + JB 4.2.2 is still the fastest, most stable, and most battery friendly Rom we have.

Could be because they were not happy with Emui2.3 and therefore no longer wanted to improve on it and instead jump straight to 3.0. The Chinese P6 users never had a Emui2.3 released and so they had Emui3.0 in plans back at the time when Emui2.3 was released for international users.

yep.. i feel the same.. in instaled all .. but this versoin looks the fastest and the best for use.. anyway as battery use.. hmm i ahve not try that power saveing. i`m allways full luminosity and so on.. but as baterry is always same.. from let`s say 6AM to 11PM.. normal use +internet.. wireless at home data pack ouside.. but looks the fastest version .. and not getting hot.. i mean same as all old versions with JB. nothing more but more stabile and faster use.. maybe users find a small bugg somewhere.. but if 98% of the phone.. and the smaller bugs don`t effect the method how normaly u use a PHONE.. not a pc.. there is no problem .. but for myself.. everyting it is just great best version till now

the best point for me is that ALL other huawei roms , i was not able to connect to Enterprise wifi , This one works ! so even if it wasnt this good i would have used it.

a little taste of it last September but it didn't continue its work in fixing some major issues , like the Bluetooth and sim activation , but now we have a better chance to make it work even better ,
The Lenovo K4 Note is the closest smartphone to our Elephone p8000
It has the same processor Mtk6753 , same dimensions and the fingerprint and other specs , so developer wont have hard time porting VibeUi to p8000

you could also try to port the rom. everyone started somewhere. and we (the devs) already don't have much time. we do it only in our freetime. and i personally will sell the phone very soon, so also no time to try the port. sorry
PS. maybe i will make a tutorial how to port roms on the 64bit MTK chips. but i don't promise this, everything depends on time

Thank you for the share, I already tried it some months ago. It works with 2 devices really similar (P8000 and Bluboo xtouch), however not in all case !
Hi ! Can someone port Galaxy S7 Rom for Zuk Z2 ? Because S7 have the same processor... And Rom on the Galaxy S7 is amazing, personally I love touchwiz interface and how it feels .I think it would be a great project.

1. This is the device section for original ROM development; feature requests are better suited to other sections (Mods correct me if I'm wrong).
2. You'd be hard pressed to find new devs for existing Nougat ROMs; almost all devs have moved on to Oreo development.
3. Why on earth would you want the bloated mess that is TouchWiz, when there are tens of other amazing ROMs available for Z2?

Gotcha, apologies if I came across too harsh. But my 1st and 2nd points still stand, imo very few devs would be interested in porting a Nougat ROM right now. You'd be better off requesting a port when S7 gets Oreo.

Why attack someone over their personal preferences? I'm no fan of TouchWiz but if someone likes/is used to it's UI, then more power to them.

Well ... I wouldn`t feel like closing this thread but as far as I can see you guys aren`t keen for a proper discussion and I don`t know why , is it that hard to nicely talk to each other ?
