Just bought my Desire 816 dual sim, but..... - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all:
I have just purchased my desire 816 dual sim last saturday! However, I have found that the battery drain is quite significant! I didn't use the phone often. Just using FB and web surfing for 10 minutes and leave it for another 36 minutes alone, but the battery drops by 6%!!!! I have turned on the ART mode and battery save mode, but it doesn't help much!
Anyone has the same experience as I have?

Hello,
The battery life on this phone is pretty amazing, the 2,600mAh battery does work well.
I guess your problem can be with the network reception.
If you use 3G and aren't getting proper signals, the phone strives hard to search for a better signal, and hence in that case, that keeps the processor awake, and it leads in the mre consumption of battery than usual.
I would recommend you to switch to 2G mode, or Wi-Fi if possible. And then observe for sometime. If ever your problem isn't solved after trying what I wrote above, try uninstalling any 3rd party apps that you think are useless, (Not 100% sure about this, because Android does manage it's apps well, and there are very less chances of battery drain through an app) or you can then try to let the HTC Service guys know your issue, and I hope they do something for you.
Good luck.

htc desire battery draining superfast
Can someone give me a solution to two problems:
1. I bought HTC desire 816 dual SIM two days back and it's battery is draining super fast. Within a couple of hours battery goes to 50 percent whereas I am not into gaming etc. Very average usage. I read good reviews about the battery life and bought this phone . Can someone help? Is this a defective piece?
2. If I have disabled an app, and then enabled it, where do I see the shortcut from. For example polaris. I disabled and enabled it. Now when I search in settings< apps it shows but I can't find it in the apps menu. How do I use it again?
Thanks

Battery problem

Hi all,
I'm on ddjp6 rooted.
Battery stand by is good.
But during using internet, fully charged battery expires in just 20 minutes or less...
The phone immediatly shuts down after showing low battery warning. (in 5 seconds)
Is this a rom problem?
Because I think on official eclair , the battery was good.
Can a custom rom solve this?
Please suggest me...
Thanks in advance...
With best regards...

By internet you mean wifi or 3G? I have the same problem, just with mobile data, though. Don't know how to fix it... Anybody has a solution?

Try battery calibration,if that doesn't work try flash some other ROm and finally if that doesn't work buy new battery. There's no other solution

How old is your battery ?
This may be indication of battery is about to get worse and die
During stand-by battery doesn't needs much power so it sustains standby.
A new battery should be around 500/599INR. at samsung service center.
My battery is 20 months old, but still lasts for 3-4 days easily.
I'm using Custom OC ROM.
Drain battery to "0" and charge it continuously for 3-4 hours, keeping phone switched off. Do this once a month. This fixes problem.

Hello,
My battery expires in one day with 3G only activate... If you want to use 3G all the time like me,'re trying to install a firewall (avast mobile for example) to choose only the apps that need to communicate on the internet... Thank you for keeping me informed...

How to reduce battery drain while using rom?

Hi. Battery drain in sleep mode is really good. Around 0.5 % an hour. But when using 3g internet, battery drain is massive, around 3% per minute. My friend was using his iPhone with similar usage to mine, his drained from 75% to 50%, mine drained from 73% to 20%!
I have brightness on low, GPS and Bluetooth off, and I am using radio 26.13.04.19 which is one that I have found to be good and reliable. Is there anyway to reduce my drain? It's way too much right now. Thank you!

3% per minute while screen is off means your phone isn't going into sleep mode.
I guess there's an app that keeps your 3G modem active.

No, I think you misunderstand. 3% per minute while using my phone (ie: when screen is on). Like I said, when screen is off, drain is only 0.5% per hour.
Try to switch to EDGE, I had it too before. The drain was caused by a bad and cell tower signal. By switching to EDGE the signal went better, same as the battery drain. Only uses 3G if you're signal/reception is good(above 3 bars).
you can turn off Wifi GPS BT and of course the screen brightness .
iyou need to activate sleep mode beacuse when in this mode you almost dont have battery drain ....

I've tried loads of different roms, I don't think that the ROM is the problem.
I'm not using a sense rom right now, so RIL doesn't matter.
Jesus. I just spent 1 minute on facebook and had 4% battery drain! Using mobile network (getting 3 bars of 3g signal). Why does android have to do this to me. I'm jealous of iphone battery life
2-3% per minute during 3g session is pretty normal ,even I am having the same drain ,I have spent months and tried all the tricks in the book (uv script ,reduce CPU speed)to reduce the drain all my efforts have gone down the drain I think we have to live up with this sort of drain...

IceColdSandwich gives me the best battery life Ive ever had.
Just to make sure, is your battery old? Maybe like a year old?
i agree.
i've given up trying to solve my batt issues. i've got icecoldsandwich 6.1. BT,GPS and WIFI is always on. cellular data is on WCDMA preffered. under volted, under clocked and even low vibration mod. screen brightness is at 10%. still drains at 3% per min when using the data. i've got a brand new battery from HTC service centre during this time and it doesnt help. i even started to think that my charging circuit was screwed up :|
got really paranoid..
but i guess the battery drain is pretty normal given the battery capacity
There are some build.prop tweaks that you could try. Related to sleep mode and hsdpa power collapse. Look through this page and add whichever are network and battery saving related (mentioned). Look through your current /system/build.prop and only add what isn't already there. If it's already there, just change the values.

To save my battery I have started to use Tasker, this is a profile manager. For example You can set up your phone to switch On Data and sync your apps every 30 min or more, instead of have it On all the time. There is a lot of options to set up your phone. For me it is working great and it helped me to lower daily battery drain. You can find other Profile Managers on Google Shop.

That doesn't help with the 3% per minute while awake.
And switching data on every 30 minutes often means that you can forget using apps like whatsapp and viber. Most of the time people rely on messages arriving shortly after they were sent.
Image your boyfriend/girlfriend sitting outside in the car and texting you "hurry up! we need to go!!" and you get that message 30 minutes later....
And consider using Llama....it's mostly the same as tasker but free
There is an app called battery calibration that can help with battery life. It helped me
Have compared battery drain with different radios? Some radios I have tried give better signal with higher drain. The M2 one I am using now gives a nice balance but it may differ for depending on your location/reception.

HTC one x battery life

Hi I've just recently decided to swap my xperia ray for a second hand HTC one x and unfortunately the battery life is horrid, under 4 hours and the battery is below half. 3g is on 24/7 and I didn't browse the internet for even a second , only text and call and I can't believe it, seriously considering taking this back unless somebody can convince me otherwise. All I use is the internet and calls and texts, and if it can't even handle those , then how am I going to be able to use the internet ..

You might try searching the forum, there are LOTs of battery related threads.
Install BetterBatteryStats (search here for it and how to use it), and check wakelocks and partial wakelocks, should tell you what is preventing the phone from entering deep sleep.
i like the battery life of my phone very much but also think, when you are using a custom rom, the rom and the kernel need to settle and i think, this take a time.. try one and give it 1-2 days, until you see the real battery draining
Came from Xperia arc myself, but wasn't expecting tremendous battery life, tbh. That said, there's virtually no drain in screen off on any stock based rom, so it evens out. Haven't tried aokp, cm10 or miui due to the pretty horrific battery life on the arc with them.

mine hox have nearly 1 year, but no better or worse battery performance. max 1 day :crying:
the battery life of the htc one x is an enigma to me (no other word can do justice to how much confusion it's causing)....I understand everyone uses their phone differently but the battery life shouldn't be all over the place as it is. My battery is lasting between 24 and 48 hours regularly with normal use i.e. normal everyday use on my one x, calls texts, camera, finding a place on maps while lost etc etc
screenshots attached.
I understand a lot of the problems are being caused by the phone not going into deep sleep. One of the ones I pinned it down to was if you go into Maps and check the location settings through there...i've turned them all off (and i still get correct google now information).
If someone wants to try that and then let us know what its like then that'd help everyone.

well not quite sure what you're doing with your phone - in that image, your mobile signal is only on for about half of the total time? did you have it in airplane mode or something?
my battery is pretty terrible - actually shocking the past few days. I can't even get through a full work day without it being down to <30%, which is only 9 hours or so. I've had power saver turned on all the time, too. I use it a bit for texts during the day and that's about it - no heavy data use. so I have no idea what's sapping it so heavily. it's quite bizarre. even if I try to micro-manage my data by turning it on only when I need it, I still get down to 40%.
this is on a stock ROM by the way. considering changing to a lighter weight custom ROM to see if that helps, as this is just ridiculous!

actuallyi just glanced at ur screen shot and for u it might be the mobile radio. It seems like ur signal is spotty for most of the time. this drains battery like no other when trying to find a good signal this goes with wifi too
HOX's battery live was terrible at first. (ICS & Old kernel)
Now it seems that it has reached its max capability. It saves the day, but it would be great, if the battery had been 2100 mah.

How much was your screen on time tho? I could just leave my phone doing nothing and have over 1day battery.
@op you could try the battery calibration. Charge phone till green light, once fully charged unplug and switch off the phone and charge again till green light now switch on and use phone.
You should now have better battery.

[Q] Should My Battery Go Down This Fast ???

Hi,
Yesterday I bought an HTC One X and over-night it was charging and when I took it of charge at 11.30an to go out to my nearest costa to meet some friends. I was just surfing the internet, facebook and answering a few texts. Come 1.45pm my battery was down at 19%. Im just wondering if it should go down that quickly. I know One Xs have 1800maH batteries which is bad as I was used to a Note II but sadly had to sell it.
The phone is very nice, screen is great but battery lets it down. Any ideas ????
Thank god Costa had charging sockets haha!
Thanks
if you bought the device brand new then it's unusual, if it's used, unlocked and running some custom rom and kernel (which, when you ask a question like that you have to specify in your OP) then it's likely that you need to flash a different kernel. On another note there could be a hardware issue, battery or cpu, does it get hot or laggy?
My battery today all on 3G. Brightness Dim. Insercoin. Can't complain.

Hi,
My phone is used but only 6 months old and I contacted HTC and they said a cache partition to reset it or something so will give that a try.
Thanks Guys
Here is a couple of things I'd do and you'll be able to see exactly whats happening.
First:
Download an app called "Wake Lock Detector" from the playstore. HERE
Second:

Have some normal use for a day or two, let it settle etc, then at the end of the day CHECK BOTH apps and see what comes on top.
You'll be able to see which apps / services are draining battery, if it is apps using a lot then remove them unless important.
If apps don't seem to add up to the amount your using, it could be a battery or your voltage limits.
Hope this helps.

Battery Drain Even in Deep Sleep

hi guys
my battery started to drain really fast 3 days ago suddenly over night even in deep sleep and goes from 100% to 60% in 6 hours and it gets warm from bottom i flashed stock jb and kitkat but no luck still battery is draining very fast. i also took out the sim and sd card to see whether they are causing problems but battery drains the same i have also put it into aeroplane mode but no difference. so is it hardware problem or battery problem any ideas would be appreciated
Similar problem on htc hd2 Tmobile alt carrier

I've seen this behavior before in other posts and experienced the same type of problem. SETUP:
+ HTC HD2 Tmoble Leo 6.1 original ROM.
+ PTEL carrier alternate carrier.
My Solution: Temporary solution was to configure APN differently than ROM default setting.
Permanent solution was upgrade to XDA H2O provided ROM with DIFFERENT RADIO.
Have gone from to 6.5 , 6.5.1, to WP7.8 since all without the internal components getting HOT (Big Battery Drain) like before.
Personally, i believe it's the BAL NWO (British Israelism) forcing Telecom operators to spy on the herd.
Maybe the battery is dieng ... Literally lol :beer:

I had to warranty my phone due to a hard brick. My replacement phone had the same problems as yours. After a week of trying everything, I eventually brought the phone back and asked for another replacement. I've had the second replacement for months now with no issues. Turns out that the first replacement was defective.
well today i turned off my mobile completely but battery is still draining

Try a new battery man
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Free mobile app
Make sure GPS and Carrier ID is not causing drain, disable it helped me.
I too had alot of battery drain, and it seemed GPS was constantly trying to find my location.
This could be because of gov. spyware " carrier IQ , IQ agent, or just generally the LG seems to have problems getting good GPS signal. So, I disable "Carrier IQ".
Using the Free program " Manage Android AutoStart" -> Android System , and disable : After Startup, IQ Agent, Factory reset, and com.google.android.c2dm.intent.RECEIVE
Bingo, no more Carrier IQ, or GPS seeking or Battery drain.
