Desire 816 united States - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I see that Asia and Europe has gotten their versions, but has anyone heard any news about the 816 coming to the states? I am really interested and would like to know how I can get my hands on one.

Yes I do unlocked my bootloader and rooted but kept it S-On....I manage to tried kingsense custom rom but since it's only
on Sense 5.5 and it has some Chinese module, I decided to go back to stock (Sense 6.0) and manage to applied OTA update.

How did you unlock and root. Via HTCdev I am not able to unlock. Tried model 'all other supported device's, 'htc one' (m7) and 'htc desire*' but all unsuccessful. Could you help me out. BTW I've already version 1.29.708.1 with hboot 3.18 and sense 6

Unlocked via HTCdev I used M7 as my HTC model and followed the rest of the instructions till successfully unlock my bootloader.
For rooting I tried the HTC desire 816 sense 5.5 rooting zip and it works. I used this http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/root-htc-desire-816/...hope it work also for you.... I also have the 1.29.708.1 version

Not yet and no ETA at the moment so your guess is as good as any bodies. you could unlock your phone via htcdev and install one of the many great custom roms based on the lastest unbranded update as these custom roms get update very fast to the latest stock base.
Hope this helps.
S-OFF is impossible, for now, but there`s a workaround at least for debranding:
-root your phone and install touch recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355
-install this ROM, it`s closest to stock and it`s clean from branding http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
and wait for S-OFF with debranded One X
but first, you could write down your current ROM version and download it, just in case you want to revert to stock ROM for warranty reasons. and bootloader is also easily reverted to locked.

how can i downgrade/revert back to my stock build before the/an OTA?

im using HTC Desire V T328W
thanks
Why would you want to receive an OTA, when custom ROMs are ahead in terms of software anyway........

Isn't this one of the 3 new desire for China released just a few months ago? I don't think there are any root method or custom mods for it, so it should be stock already? So there wouldn't be a way to revert it back to stock?

yes, this is one of those 3 released in China Last Month i think, and will also be released in EU this coming July as per news.
actually mine is unlocked and rooted by my vendor. i think my vendor used the htc unlocker and the root was made using the One V Root method. I also tried the One V Root method and it is working, but now i can't root my phone since the OTA update
I am afraid that is not possible up to now , and updated ROMs have released in some Chinese forums.

you cannot undo your unlocking bootloader via RUU - for your warranty stuff. Take the 1.28 RUU and then after you install that you can do a OTA update to latest version
I know they can still find out if it was unlocked, but I want to relock it either way as that is whats recommended. Anyways, I found a work through. You'll understand my problem and how I fixed it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714&page=3

You won't find a changelog for the RUU. As far as I know, HTC doesn't release one.
Also I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference yourself. Usually updates cover minor system changes and not something in the UI (although sometimes they do).
please ineed 2.17.415.2 RUU

Wind Mobile M9 Stock Recovery Image

Hi,
Can someone post the stock recovery image for a Canadian wind mobile HTC one m9 please? I'm not able to install the update to 5.1 without it.
TIA
Alternatively, the reason I want it is because after reverting to stock, I can't seem to find a recoverg.img that will install the HTC update.
I've event tried the recovery.img from the HTC update to 5.1 that I want to install (but can't).
Thanks in advance!

Is there a root for T-Mobile Android M M8?

Hey guys, I've been waiting to get android M and sense 7 before I root my phone, now I realize that root availability depends on firmware and carrier.
Could you guys please tell me if there's any way to root the One M8 on T Mobile, android M?
It doesn't matter what phone nor carrier. You have root. 2 different ways if your s-on or off. Just search the HTC One M8 thread and you'll find it.

Oh, sweet, thanks! I was confused since I keep seeing some guides that say they're exclusive for like, AT&T m8 or what not.. So I can use any guide for Android M root for M8?
Only way is to S-Off your device with Sunshine
http://theroot.ninja/
It costs a one time fee of $25 in which it'll Unlock your Bootloader and S-Off. You can then fastboot flash a custom recovery to install SuperSU or a compatible Custom Rom
