What exactly is a debrick image? Sorry, the only time I ever bricked a phone was on purpose si I've never used one.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

Cnexus - any idea why yours is much smaller?
80mb vs 128mb
The 80mb file is about the same size as pre 4.3 images.

I just used a difference size when dumping it.

If the bootloader gets corrupted on the Galaxy SIII, you can flash the image file to an SD card and get the phone to boot from a fully bricked state (phone will not power on at all). The image file must match the current bootloader that is installed. There are other threads here for previous builds with the matching image files.
(If I got something a little wrong in terminology or concept, I'm sure someone will pop in and fix anything I got mixed up on explaining. )

You are all over this update man, I can't keep up lol.

Him or me?
Unfortunately, my phone hard bricked during some testing of ND8 and now it's a paperweight as I haven't been able to get it back. I'm sure we'll see more of this going forward. I bet there were a few when 4.3 came along as well but we weren't around for that release here.
Looks like Jtag for this phone and I haven't decided what to do in the meantime to replace it; temporarily or permanently.

I personally think I'm done with Sammy after this phone. Knox is too much of a pain in the arse and if they keep adding to it it's gonna eventually be locked down. I'm looking at the OnePlus or the LG G3 or the new M8, but not til Christmas or Tax Time.

My thoughts exactly. The G3 or the Nexus 6 are on my radar. Will be looking at switching to T-Mobile as well.

Yeah, I just wish I knew what their service was like in my area... I know they sucked like 5 years ago but nobody I know is on TMo anymore.

TD get the nexus 5 its a great phone and not to expensive. It would be great to have you over on it.

Edit: Additionally, I had issues getting this image to flash in Windows. I had to flash it to SD in Ubuntu. If you can still read the SD in Windows, it didn't take the flash. If the card is unreadable in Windows then maybe it flashed ok but still no guarantees it will work if the bootloader partitions are corrupted like mine were.

I was having connectivity issues so I flashed a new modem. Then, for some weird reason, I lost audio and had ZERO signal except wifi. I was advised to flash a TW rom to try and update PRL and activate the phone. I flashed Wicked Sensations, still no luck. So at that point, I was trying to flash back to non rooted using >>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099. Thats when it bricked. I don't blame anyone but myself. I didn't read the ENTIRE thread before flashing and it hard bricked. Won't power on, no recovery/download mode. Light comes on with battery pulled and plugged in to USB.
I have tried all the threads and has no luck. I bought a 16g class 10 sd card. Tried many different debrick files. Tried writing with win23 and Cygwin, nothing. I am thinking I may need a different image based on my bootloader, I just have no idea which it was at the time.

Let me begin with this statement "it was my choice and stupidity".
I've been running on cm10.2 which i love, now tonight i tried exploring another rom. downloaded energy hd and and tried installing through clockmod. next thing i know it failed. and screen went off. sad end of story for my s3. i tried everything but not even the light will come on when plugged in. when plugged in to pc driver for QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 was installed but still no luck.
is there any way of reviving it?

First things first. Questions should be posted in Q /A . Now that we've got that out of the way. What version of CWM are you using ? Is it the latest ? Did your Battery have at least a 50% charge before you tried Flashing something ? I know they say 30%. But I like to be on the safe side. Where did you get the Rom you Flashed ? Link to the thread please.

Energy HD is for the international s3 i9300. Those roms will hard brick your phone because the partition layouts are completely different from that of the US S3s. So when you install it stuff gets installed to the wrong place. The partition we use for our Boot loader is the partition where the i9300 has its kernel so it would wipe your bootloader flashing a i9300 rom

Well let me just start with the bad news, energy is an international ROM not meant to be on our phones. What does this mean to you? Your bootloader is destroyed(oh s*it) but they're is still hope for that shiny paperweight. There's two options at this point. One is located here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125
in order to do this method you mush have no less than a class 10 sdcard AND it must be the same size as your internal memory. I.e my phone is the 16 gig model so I need a 16g class 10
Your second option takes a professional(or some expensive toys) but is a sure fire bet to get your s3 back up and running again. What you need to do is find a JTAG service. Look on craigslist and whatnot to see if a small game store around you does them. If not there's a few good mail in services online just pop out the SD and send it in. This method however is going to be around 70$
best of luck man hope this info helps.

Only problem I see with this is you would have to do this mediately after flashing. If you turn that bad boy off its officially a paperweight and you can't even get into DL mode

Let me reiterate, read EVERYTHING you must follow this 100% exact for this to work.
What happens when you flash an international zip is you format the bootloader. I think Samsung did this to confuse people on purpose because between u.s. and international the partitions for bootloader and kernel are swapped. So an inter. Zip wipes our Bootloader partition and tried to put your kernel there. The debrick image simply allows you to boot your download mode from your SD card instead of from the phone. From there you can return stock and restore the proper partitions.

look at your firmware that is installed, goto settings, about device... baseband version..
then download that firmware... forget about whatsapp, my phone doesn't have it installed, but it is in the firmware, and it doesn't install it..
wipe the phone in recovery, and reboot into downloader mode, and odin flash your firmware, if that doesn't work, ur phone is effed up... have to return it, happened to me, this is my 2nd, I have not rooted this one yet, until I have answers regarding this...
I will be rooting soon, a lot of people have no issues, don't know why... we need more answers, I hear that you should delete the stored fingerprints that are saved, the odin your firmware, it works for some, not for others...
please pm me with your results.

I think it got messed up, don't know how, but this has happened to a lot of people, because of flashing roms, might be something that is hidden in a secured area, and getting damaged somewhere,
when it happened to me, I was on the 1st firmware, then I did everything I could, then I updated the firmware to the new one, and that did not fix it either...
I think it messed up... I don't think it be fixed unless Samsung does something to it... I have been reading all the note 4 threads before I root this 2nd phone, Verizon, sprint, tmobile, and att threads to see what is going on...

Does anyone have any info on downgrading from OH1? I've yet to see any info on it, though it is apparently the latest modem for this phone, and quite frankly, it blows. I tried dropping to the MD4, and lost my MEID and things. Thankfully I had a modem backup and it worked coming back, but man, I hate that I can't update my data profile on AICP and none of the Touchwiz roms list compatibility with this new modem.
I'm new to the Samsung scene and all this extra crap I couldn't do with other devices is confusing as hell at 1am and no sleep or coffee. I know OH1 is what was there after the Stagefright update, but it may have been there when I bought the phone. Ideas and suggestions would be awesome on getting back to stock or switching to TW without losing service programming.
Please keep in mind I don't have a PC but I do have Mobile ODIN and the latest TWRP.

Except there aren't any that I can find. The latest ones all show something other than OD2 and OH1. I assume I'm stuck with AICP for just that reason, which is crap because I can't revert to a stock TouchWiz OD2 that doesn't seem to exist. I haven't got a PC on my truck so I can't use Kies to get it back to actual stock. I suppose I'm screwed then.
Edit: I've seen plenty of s4 and up OD2 and OH1 roms but nothing for the S3. I know it's old as hell but damn, it's still a fairly solid phone.

Oops, my bad... I thought this was the S4 forum (the latest update is also OH1)... You need to use an ND8 or NJ2 ROM. I have 2 of them for the S3 in the Android Development section.
Same situation kind of...
I too had done the ota update to oh1 on my s3 and the modem turned to crap. I rerooted and installed wicked s5 xperience 2.2. used the flash directions except I used twrp no issues at all dirty flash and then clean flash. Modem works way better... I get signal in places I didn't have before.
i got the same problem

I returned my s3 to non-rooted stock NJ2 using Odin and it updated to OH1. I don't have service but want to activate it on RIngPlus. I am having this issue where the display flashes off and power button does not respond as it is supposed to. Wondering if a flash to a different rom will fix it. The problem is not new though. Even when drawing the pattern to unlock screen will go off.

return to stock with SOFF

What variant are you? Unbranded or carrier branded? You don't need to wipe, Forgot to add you need to go in downland mode to flash the zip when you enter it will ask you if you want to flash or not

If unbranded use e.g x.xx.401.x, You can use one of those no problem I've not tried personally I just use ruu zip similar to factory image on nexus but don't have to use fastboot just vol up in download mode and it begins to flash
Yes nexus is very simple what I like about it, my M9 kinda died last night LCD just has lines all down the screen have to return

Returning mine tomorrow from where I purchased hopefully I can swap for a different device this is the worst thing I've ever owned, Also seems to be a common fault on this device friend of mine had not long after release but was worse then this, Saw other people with it too on other forums

LG V35 - LGUP - Error: 0x7004, AB Update Boot Change Fail / Stuck In Firmware Update

So this happened, and I have no idea what to do.
Google search on this specific error shows nothing, like I am the first to have it or something.
Could it be that is because my phone is encrypted?
Also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong sub forum
Cant't seem to find the delete option.
- V350ULM20d_00_NAO_US_OP_0612.kdz
- Patched / Moded V35 LGUP
- Upgrade Option
- ATT Unlocked Model Running Android 8.0
( Not sure what KDZ I was on, I should have checked before hand )
Any help would be appreciated

You flashed using refurbish? Did you try Partition DL? What other steps have you taken?

I have only done the "Upgrade" Option, nothing else, trying to dump anything gives me "0x2000 Write Protected lun" Error, could be because of the encryption.
I have just tried doing Partition DL on "boot_ a/b" and "sid_a/b"
Followed by the upgrade option, result is the same, the last thing it seems to try flashing is "sid_a" then it gives me the 7004 error
I have accidentally flashed/partition DL on user files.
I am guessing that wiped everything on there didn't it :|

Well there goes my whatsapp history, I really should stop messing with it when I am tired late at night after coming back from a long trip.
I have tried multiple different ones,
The one from https://www.lanzous.com/i3y5ocd does not seem to work for me, it gives me an invalid mismatched DLL type of error
The one I am using I can't remember where I got it but will post once I get a chance to look it up again
Would doing the refurbished option be any good?

In the LGUP zip file there is an LGUPD and an LGUPE exe. Correct? Which of those two did you use? Also I think refurbish would be the best option. At this point.
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:54 PM ----------
The upgrade option wouldn't work because of the firmware incompatibilities. You could only use upgrade going from same firmware family. Like Google Fi 8.0 to Google Fi 9.0. or Amazon 8.0---> 9.0 etc.

AT&T is not very friendly with KDZ, flashing and such. They kinda suck at it. I was able to flash US open version 8.0 KDZ after first flashing Korean KDZ and then we on to pie. You can't access download mode?
