The Nexus 5 is 6 Months Old! Post pics of your phone!! (accessories, ideas, links) - Nexus 5 Accessories

RULES:
1) Name the version of your phone and when you bought it. If it’s Original, Replacement, RMA, Launch, etc. specify that as well. Ex: Black 32GB – October 31st, 2013 (Launch). This is just to see how long you've had your phone, and I guess bragging rights?? (I no longer can say I have a launch day phone... )
2) Name ALL of the accessories you are currently sporting on your phone. Include brand (if applicable) and LINKS!! This is so that anyone else who likes the look of your phone and what you’ve done, can look it up themselves, or buy those accessories. We want to share ideas.
3) A Picture of the accessories on your phone! Preferably nothing too huge, 1920x1200 and below would be best. Just nice enough, and big enough to show off your look.
4) This is NOT a what is better than what thread, or which company is better than the other! NO arguments! This is just to show off what you've done with your phone and to discuss ideas. If you like what they've done, hit the thanks button. Don't bash people or their choices. Everyone has their own opinion and taste, respect that.

Well a few days ago the Nexus 5 hit the 6 month old mark. You know what that means… It’s old sauce now and completely outdated! You might as well get rid of it and buy something newer. It’s clearly too slow and can’t keep up with the new phones that have just launched/are coming out.
Of course, we know that’s not true at all!! This phone is still a damn beast and remains pretty close to being top of the line!
So, being 6 months old I’m sure many people have had a lot of time to personalize their phones. So why not show off what you’ve done with your phone? It’s a good way to keep an “aging” phone interesting, and it will help others here maybe get some new ideas of what they would like to put on their phones! It also gives me reason to post more pics!!
If you rock your phone naked, that’s cool too! If you want to show us a picture of your naked phone go for it. It would be nice to see how your phone has held up over the months with no protection at all!
We’re here to show the looks and give ideas. So give as much information as possible. Include the brand name if there is one, and where you bought it (a link please)!

WOOOOOOW my nillkin glass just got shipped, but where did you buy the nexus 4 replica bumper? Thanks a lot.
EDIT

Thanks!
I actually bought the red phone just because I knew I was going to put skins on the back! I wanted the letters to be red instead of black or white. Kind of weird to buy a red phone for just that reason alone, but I've been really happy with how everything turned out.

@Mmmbacon: Is that bumper really made out of metal? I would really want to try it if it is. Does it affect signal quality?

As metal as Samsung phones have metal borders, or PU Leather is to Leather.
So does it affect signal quality? Not in the slightest.

Well, that's a bummer. I really wanted to try a metal bumper, but the only two options that I can find on ebay aren't exactly inspiring. The phone makes direct contact with the metal frame so it probably wears off the coating and affects signal quality. Something like the one you own, but with a metallic outer rim would be ideal.
On a different note, I can barely wait for my ringke fusion to arrive. Expect some drool worthy pictures of it along with some neon glowing skin if I can my get my hands on a friend's DSLR .

It's mainly metal backs that cause signal issues. GPS and the like.
@Mmmbacon: I don't suppose you'd be able to share some more screenshots of that screen protector would you please? I'm interested but I dont feel I get a good idea of it compared to your shots (when searching the net)

Sure, no problem.
After taking these, I noticed that I didn't put the protector on completely centered! I can't unsee it now... It's only off by maybe half a mm or less, but still.
Anyway, these are as clear as I can get them without having an SLR. My 8 year old Canon Powershot was about to explode.

I've ordered a Nillkin H+ protector, too, based on the reviews on this forum, and I gotta say, it looks pretty awesome. How does it feel according your perspective?
I hope I can slap mine on half as accurately as you did!

It feels just like the normal screen. It's basically a second piece of gorilla glass with an oleophobic coating, slapped on top of the first one. Just as smooth, just as responsive, and fingerprints wipe off just as easily. It's so much better than a plastic screen protector, well, because it's not plastic! You don't feel the difference because there really isn't a difference between this and the actual screen.
A tempered glass screen protector is basically a 3rd party version of gorilla glass that you can install yourself, without actually calling it "Gorilla Glass" which is just a marketing name. It's the same thing as Apple calling anything with a high resolution a "Retina Display".
Anyway, we'll see how long before the oleophobic coating wears off, but I've had the screen protector on the phone for over 2 months now and it still feels and cleans exactly the same as the day I put it on.

Man that screen protector looks so good that I just bought one. I'll be coming over from the plastic protector world so I'm pretty stoked. Hopefully it doesn't take as long as Amazon told me it would to ship here either :silly:

I've never tried a glass protector so I can't speak about it. You may be right about the fingerprint part, I don't know, but I do know that my amFilm plastic screen protector is smooth as silk. Maybe because of all the skin oils? Anyway, whatever floats yer boat.
I will be posting pics of all my stuff once it comes in, but I'll have to use my roommates phone to take the pics, since my Nexus is the only decent phone I have. I can't exactly take pics of my N5 with my N5. Cheers, and happy 6 mo. anniversary Nexus 5.

 You've lubed up your screen protector so much that it's nice and smooth!
The biggest reason I went with a glass screen protector was the drop protection. I wanted to avoid this from happening again (or at least drastically lower the likelihood)... I didn't know that the feel was going to be like a night and day difference compared to the plastic ones I've felt before. A tempered glass screen protector will protect much better from a face down drop, compared to a plastic one which won't protect at all. They are scratch protection only, not impact.

I used to be a big case kind of user, but I just can't cover up my red N5. I just use the ringke crystal fusion (?) clear case. I like how the case is semi-tacky, and easy to hold. It has a little extra in the corners, and may protect from small drops. Haven't dropped my n5 yet, so I can't say if one case is better than another. But, I did see this case from Ballistic: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ballistic-G...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item51b9f69eed
I just wish the back of it was clear instead of all those "holes". A nice 1 piece snap on case that had some real corner protection, but still was clear, would be nice.

@mmmmBACON
Thanks for your review and thank you for the eBay link to the bumper. I've been searching for something like this for weeks! BUT WHICH COLOR?
So I've got a white 16GB N5 from February as because I RMA'd it because of the hissing issue in videos (didn't know that this is software related)
Original was bought on December...
Also, I've ordered an tempered glass film on Aliexpress:
0.3mm Explosion-proof Tempered Glass Film for Google Nexus 5 / E980
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/0-3m...-Film-for-Google-Nexus-5-E980/1728914566.html
It costs less than 9 USD so it's worth a try to see if the quality is good as described or not.
There's also an dbrand black titanium skin on the frame and on the back of my white N5. I'm waiting for coupons to replace it by white carbon on the back and matte white on the frame.

Yeah I'm a fan of minimalism, which is why I used the quicksand hardcases. Since I wanted to use skins this time around, I switched to bumper cases. The phone still feels relatively small because of the thinness of not having a back. Though it is a bit wider and taller, but I didn't want to go completely naked, so of course that's the tradeoff.
Yeah, that ballistic case reminds me a little too much of the Samsung Bandaid S5 and a dog bone haha. Probably fantastic for drop protection though.

Yeah, there are a bunch of nice colours but I stuck with black for a couple of reasons.
Black tends to go with anything, it's a safe, neutral sort of colour. So even if you decide to change the skin on your phone to some crazy colours or patterns, it should still look good as it would be a nice black border. With the other bumpers (except maybe white which should also match nicely with everything) you have to try to match colours well or it might clash.
The other reason is that with most TPU cases (even though this is a harder TPU), if you choose something other than black, there is always the chance that it will stain or get dirty very easily. It usually ends up being hard to clean, or you can't clean the stains. With the black, you don't have to worry about it staining, or it doesn't show. I'm not sure if these ones will stain or not, but I just decided not to take the chance.
Also, once you get your glass screen protector you should tell us what you think and post some pictures in this thread. It would be good to see some other options out there and how they fit and look. I chose the Nillkin H+ because it was a highly rated screen protector for a very reasonable price. If there are other nice protectors out there at good prices, that's always a good thing. I don't believe tempered glass screen protectors are worth spending anything more than $10 - $15 on. The process of how they are made is pretty much the same, wherever you buy them, so there's no real point spending $40+ on a big brand when there are very good ones for 1/4 of the price.

Bought my 32gb white N5 off of Swappa in late January. Had the Slickwraps black alligator leather skin on for about a month, before switching to the red carbon fiber. I'm using the lucency bumper case mmmbacon recommended, and love it.

zagg invisible shield or spigen spg screen protector and case suggestions

hi,
I'm about to buy a screen protector for my note, but i can't decide which one to get.
i found so many types of the sgp(ultra optics, ultra fine...etc)
my budget is $20 so which one should i get ? i want something with anti-glare and scratch resistant
Don't like the soft type films like Zagg. Don't like the added friction on finger drags (very slight). I especially can't stand the zagg film as a body protector. Seems to collect lint and eventually starts to peel off. I have also tried Bestskins Ever which are the same type and they seem to had an emulsifier issue, finger nail dents were really slow to fill in and after a while I had some bubbles but not air but emulsifier.
I like the SGP type films better more rigid and very smooth after the the first day. And they go on dry. They tend to show finger oils more and can get scratched. Avoid their matte finish, I thought it was horrible and the finger print phobic one eventually becomes philic. The SGP protector that I had on me HTC Incredible was the best cut protector I have ever had. The one for my EVO was not cut as well but still fit well. I still think they have some of the best screen protectors out there but I do think they are over priced. I have a tough time justifying a cost over $10 for a screen protector.
I currently am using Boxwave's screen protector on my Epic 4G Touch. I like that a can remove it with scotch tape, rinse it and reuse it. Fit is ok but it is a finger oil magnet. At $5.95 I think it's a good deal. I just ordered the matte and clear one for my yet to arrive Note. I will post how feel about them once I get my Note.
i was about to order the sgp capsule case, it comes with an ultra crystal screen protector which will make it cheaper than getting only a screen protector($25 for the case + protector vs $15 for only 2 screen protectors)
The only good screen protector i tried is the one that came with the iskin vibes case for my ipod touch, about two years now and it's still very good.
As for the Boxwave, I can only find this one for the note, it's cheap so i might order the capsule case and the boxwave screen protector, this way i'll have some extra screen protectors if the one with the case wasn't good, i just want to get something fast because the screen got scratched and the camera is exposed with no protection whatsoever.
Sgp blows. Go with them of you want to risk being shipped the wrong product, enjoy shoddy customer service that does not respond when you have an issue, like $15 screen protectors that last a month, and/or you like when businesses charge you prior to shipping.
Keep your money, screen protectors are useless with gorilla glass screens.
gorilla glass got scratched, so i need a screen protector
as for the case the sgp case i don't know of any alternative within the same price range

Tell that to the guys who go to the beach a lot. One spec of sand on your finger can do some serious damage. Depending on where you live or work, a screen protector can save your phone from damage to the screen.
I'd go with anything other than Zagg. Don't like them at all, I can't do the orange peel again and the sticky feel. I have SGP on my Note, I like it enough to recommend it. It's very clear, does the job nicely.

if you want a case there are so many options now and after reading a lot i found that users opinions differs even for the same case ... in my opinion, until the case mate tough case is realeased there are these options:
1- SGP Samsung Galaxy Note Case Ultra Capsule : mixed reviews but overall good case and it come with a good screen protector
2- Capdase Alumor Jacket Elli : can't find enough reviews but it looks thick and has good protection
3- Momax iCase Pro : i dunno why i like it, but i do

if i remember correctly i think that i have had the zagg invisible body shield for my ipod touch when i bought it and it was not good, it collected dust on its edges, so maybe it won't be a good idea (plus after checking the prices it's more expensive than anything else)
EDIT: i changed the title to fit the post changes
I have the SGP Crystal and it is superb. I use to use ZAGG but do not like the rubbery feel.
For those that think a screen protector does not help look at the pictures below. I dropped my Note on the corner of a steel filing cabinet drawer and the SGP protector did its job. Without a screen protector my screen would surely have been scratched.

Well to be fair, you would just have to dropp it again in the same way just to verify the screen would have been scratched (not that you should of course lol) but yeah no matter what material the screen has (i've heard is gorilla glass), i feel better if it has some extra protection and it wasnt a cheap smartphone..... so better safe than sorry, im glad the SGP did its job cheers

I think I will go for the SPIGEN SGP GLAS t. Premium Tempered Glass Series Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 .
The only thing that I am concerned so far is if it works with the SZLF Aluminum bumper (IS a very very cool bumper).
It seems there is enough room to fit the screen 0.4mm thick. But is glass not plastic trash.
Any ideas ?

I was about to order one then I went to youtube and watched some videos for iPhone 4s installation.
Most if not all of them had huge, and i mean HUGE (like thumb print sized) areas where it did not adhere and they look like huge air bubbles (which in fact they are).
If it is that difficult to install on an iPhone 4s, then think of how hard it will be to install on our Notes.

Diztronic Case for Sprint Optimus G

Here are a few pictures of the Diztronic case I just recieved today from Amazon. Total with shipping came out to $15. Which I think is a decent value for this case.
I have the Spigen Ultra Clear screen protector on the phone. As a side note the Spigen screen protector is the best I have used, this is the first time I have used this brand, I definitely recommend them. In the corners, if you press the case into the phone the screen protector starts to lift just slightly at the edge, do to pushing against the edge of the screen protector. On the sides the case seems to sit more on top of the screen protector and does not lift the film from the glass.
The case fits the phone very well and doesn't provide to much added bulk, which was important to me. The phone does feel noticeably wider than it has since I've been using the phone with no case till now. This is the first time I have used a case at all on any of my phones, I'm one to enjoy the original look and feel of a phone versus covering it up. This phone is probably the best looking of any phone I have had and probably any phone out there right now. But I do feel like it needs a little extra protection, which this case adds. The charcoal gray color is nice too and the feel is a soft touch plastic feel. The matte finish helps with finger prints too. The case is flexible, but stiffer than the silicone cases I've seen. The case has a black glossy ring around the top lip, which adds a nice detail to it.
Overall I would recommend this case to anyone looking for something fairly thin and discrete and of good build quality. If you have any other questions let me know. Hopefully the pictures help this review a bit more too.

Do you have the Otterbox and have you used them ever? I'd love a quick comparison if possible! That's what I was going to get but I just want better protection with minimal thickness.

Bought the Otterbox from sprint store with the phone, but immediately jumped on the Diztronic case on black friday release date. I have had a Diztronic case for my Epic 4G Touch before and it looked nice plus saved my phone on quite a few falls. However, it is not an otterbox bomb shell...
Really happy with how the Diztronic case fits on the LGOG and it is more protected than naked. I guess if you want a sleek case, that offers some protection, I will recommend Diztronic... However, if you feel your history with phones is quite harsh, then go with the extra size and protection of Otterbox.
FYI.. I returned the Otterbox as I never used the screen protector and was within 2 weeks of purchase... Very happy with with my Diztronic case.
Wow that's one boring looking case; I guess since they think the Optimus G looks boring, it's only natural...

I have the same combination of the Diztronic case and the Spigen screen protectors and overall am pretty happy with them. Short of a simple bumper, I don't think you can get any more minimal as far as cases go than this one and still provide some basic protection. Without the case, I always felt as if I was going to drop the phone (feels slippery IMO) but now that I have the case, I feel much more reassured that it is not going to slip out of my hands. I had a Diztronic case on my previous device for over a year and it held up well and so I am expecting nothing less from this one. The black color matches well with the phone, looks pretty professional, and the buttons are easy to push.
I do have a pair of high-end earphones (Etymotic ER-4P) that cannot connect to the phone though due to the connector's surrounding plastic being too thick / the case's headphone cutout being not wide enough to accommodate my earphones' connector. I've had these earphones for several years and while this case's headphone connector cutout seems like a decent size, this is the first time I've come across a case that has blocked the use of my earphones. To fix it, I guess I could have just gone ahead and taken an exacto knife to the case but I went ahead and purchased a simple short headphone extension cable and I anticipate that will solve the issue. The only other thing I don't like is I wish Diztronic would just stick to a simple logo branding on the back of the case instead of writing out the entire name of the company + the logo (seems like overkill).
This is also my first use of the Spigen screen protectors (normally use Boxwave but they were unavailable when I checked) and so far so good, seems like a pretty comparable product to the Boxwave one.
Ordered one of these cases yesterday

No, and be aware, the case may push at the sides/corner of your screen protector which causes it to lift up. Other than that, I really like the case.
Was just informed my diztronic case had arrived at my house. Ill do a quick review when i get home from work. Cant wait to check it out

I like the case a lot so far. The case is a little tight but not as tight as the body glove case. Also much thinner then the commuter case. Love the matte feel of the case and its paired extremely well with my anti-glare screen protector. But it IS making my screen protector bubble up a little but not too bad.
Overall satisfied with the case and I'm sure it will loosen up after having it on for a little while.

Got the Diztronic this morning. Quality is amazing. Slightly tight fit on the phone, but I am sure that it will work in some if I remove it a couple times.
Feel of the case is almost slick with the texture that is on it. Hopefully that will wear in a bit.
My only complaint is the gate location from how it was molded. It could have been placed better in a less visible area than a corner.
Jus got it today and its actually better then i thought it would be, really nice fit and it doesnt feel bulky at all like an otterbox, i would only get one of those if it came with the belt clip but currently they dont offer those yet for our phone, otherwise this is a really good case

You can already buy cases with belt clips, but they are generic. Just search ebay for "ls970 case belt clip -leather -pouch"
I just ordered mine, it should be here by the weekend.

i-Blason 0.24mm 8H Tempered glass screen protector review.

Hey guys, having been a die-hard fan of SGP ultra crystal screen protectors for all the devices in the home (Evo LTE, One, iPhone 4(s), Asus TF101), I was a little disappointed to learn from another thread here that SGP didn't have plans to bring their tempered glass screen protector to our shiny new N7 FHDs. I had checked out the SGP model on my friend's Note 2 and decided that on my next device i would give one of these a try. Luckily i-Blason came to the rescue with their version of a tempered glass screen protector and here's my review, I hope it will be helpful and perhaps answer some questions.
The protector was packaged in a plastic folder frame and came in a padded envelope. On the inside it had the regular microfiber square, squeegee, and the protector itself in a paper sleeve as well as the protective plastic on both sides.

Immediately I noticed how much thicker and stiffer it was compared to the dry apply plastic ones. I tried to flex it a bit and of course being at that thickness, it did have a small amount of give but overall pretty hard. I tried to get a picture of how thick it is compared to an SGP Ultra Crystal for the HTC One that i had lying around, but the photos don't really illustrate too well the difference between the two. The first is the i-Blason, second is the SGP.
Looking at the screen protector itself I thought there were holes for the camera and the sensors, however it was actually the case that it was actually just thinner at those parts in the back, the front is one continuous piece with no holes in it. This came as a surprise to me as I was expecting holes, but given how thick it is and its stiffness, it was a good call on their part.
I used the hinge method, and scotch taped any particles of dust out of the way. My house is pretty dusty so it actually seemed like the hover method might have worked better, ymmv. Once you get it in place, due to its stiffness its actually pretty easy to lift up without worrying about bending the corner.
I got it on there properly aligned, but as you can see in some of the photos there are some spots where the adhesive just didn't seem to want to stick too well. I've had this issue in the past with a few of my SGP protectors, so i would just guess its the silicone adhesive not being completely uniform on the underside. The issue is cosmetic and does not affect the display sensitivity or the quality once the screen is lit.
Heres some photos of the 4 corners after I was done. The cut was very precise and everything lined up perfectly.
Heres a picture of it from profile after installation. I am slightly worried about the fact that it does stick up a bit from the bezel, but given that my friend's Note 2 is pocketed and his is just as thick, there shouldn't be any problems with lifting, especially since I intend on having it in a case when I'm out and about. Something to think about though if you're the kind of user that doesn't like cases ruining the looks of your device.
And finally, I tried my best to take before and after photos of the same screen on max brightness. We all know that trying to take a photo of a screen is usually a futile endeavor in regards to showing distortion of screen protectors, but what the hell here they are for the sake of completeness.
Can you tell which is which? I can't so i guess thats a good thing.
I don't think I've seen many complaints if at all regarding the fact that the screen is too slippery. I know that at this dpi and this smaller screen size typing is more difficult as the already oversensitive screen registers even the tiniest movements as a swipe. This screen protector actually brings that slipperiness down, to about the same as all my other devices naked. Looking forward to using my device more now as I didn't care too much for the super slippery glass. I was in an excited hurry to write up this review as I know there are others that were curious about his product and I'm willing to bet they probably have only a smidge more patience than I.
TL;DR: I was skeptical of this screen protector as I have never heard of nor had any experience with the brand, however I wanted to try something new, and i'm glad it turned out well so far. If i had to give this thing a score, it would have to be a 4.5 out of 5 due to the spots on the screen that didn't quite stick completely and thus introduced some visual artifacts.
PROS:
Thick, the hardness probably won't do much against a drop on the side, but it might protect it better than a dry apply plastic protector and not have the orange peel or rubber feeling of wet apply protectors.
Easy to install: The stiffness makes installation via the hinge method a breeze. Lifting corners to get rid of dust after you get it aligned is also painless as theres little risk of bending it like with plasic protectors.
More scratch resistant? I didn't want to try it with a key test, but i'm hoping given its 8H rating that it will maintain its pristine appearence longer than my SGPs, which admittedly scratch when you breathe on them.
Its glass, you're basically putting another screen on top of your screen, thats like strapping another car in front of your car to protect its front.
CONS:
Price: when I bought this on amazon it was 20 bucks, it has since gone up to 25. Last time i checked the SGP crystal clear is priced at 13 per piece on their website. This is almost twice the price, but if it lasts through the life of 2 SGPs and still looks awesome, its totally worth it.
Thick: Its primary strength may prove to be a weakness. The screen protector MAY be subject to lateral forces which may start to lift it, time will tell.
Doesn't stick perfectly at some places: This could be my fault for having lifted it a few times to pick up dust, or it could be its too stiff and doesn't want to conform, or less than perfect adhesive application at the factory. Whosever fault it is, the problem is cosmetic and in no way affects the operation of the N7.
Not prime eligible: Not really a knock on the product itself, but i had to wait quite awhile for this.
Having just had a few hours with it, I can say that I would recommend this to any one who wants to try a glass screen protector. They could have priced it more ridiculously, but at the current price point it seems fair for what you're getting.
UPDATE: Those tiny little spots are gone now that ive spent a little bit of time applying regular finger pressure on them for a few minutes.

I also received and applied my i-Blason screen today. I think mine came with a defect on part of it, because there is one bubble that refuses to go away. Its not dust either. I'm super anal about not having bubbles. So I asked i-blason if they can send out a new one as their is a 1 year satisfaction warranty that specifically says it covers bubbles underneath the screen. Other than me being anal about the bubble though, this is a super screen protector and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I know you mentioned it is just thinner in those areas and they aren't actually holes, but I wonder why they all keep doing anything special at all for the notification LED on the clear models. They are putting in extra effort and it makes it worse
I could understand on the anti-glare models. Illumishield got rid of the notification cutout on their latest SP version.

got mine yesterday as well, just installed it. installed pretty cleanly.
so far i love it.
anybody using a case to cover the back of the n7, not a skin per se, but more of back cover/case, which doesn't interfere with the screen protector?
I got a defective one today. Big bubble is under the glass.

Did you try to pick it back up and pushing down on that spot as you're laying it down? Once the bubble gets trapped its impossible to get out with the squeegee

I had a pretty large bubble when I applied mine at first. You have to work from the middle out. It is harder to work the bubbles out then compared to a normal screen protector.

I am not comfort on the think and no hole at front camera position.
Got the screen protector earlier this week, and finally got around to installing this afternoon. No issues applying, though it's a little skewed from user error. The screen protector is on par with all the other glass SP on my other devices. For my it's just added comfort that the original glass is protected.
I noticed a few "marks" under the screen protector after application. They seemed to be indentations in the adhesive from the factory. Applying fingertip / fingernail pressure to the affected areas for a few seconds seemed to help the silicon stick better and clear the trapped air.
I'm glad they chose not to leave holes in the screen protector. Less area for dirt, dust and lint to collect. The camera doesn't seem to be affected by the layer of glass. The illusion of a "cutout" may just be the lack of silicon adhesive in each area. I highly doubt they took the extra time to grind down each area.
Get this screen protector. You won't be disappointed in the feel and protection.
I've had mine on for over a week I think it's great.

The "hole" by the camera and the notification light are not actually holes. I didn't look closely at the sp before I applied it but I think they are just areas where the glass is thinner so there is no adhesive on those areas or it is a different type of glass. If you rub your finger across where the camera and notification light are it is completely smooth. You don't feel an indentation or anything. So it is just one solid price of tempered glass with no cutouts. It does gives the appearance that there are cutout holes there but there aren't. It does not affect the camera in any way.

Screen Protector

Okay, so the only real issue I can see that may bother me when my Z1 arrives is that many people are reporting issues with the anti shatter film installed onto the screen of the Z1. Apparently its easily scratched. I want to avoid this from day one. Any suggestions on a screen protector that can be installed on top of the film that won't affect the screens touch response?

I just got my Z1 less than a week ago. I haven't had any scratches in mine, but it is a fingerprint magnet. I'm putting a Ghost Armor screen protector on mine tomorrow. If you're not familiar, Ghost Armor is about the same thing as the Zagg Invisible Shield. Some people love them, some hate them. I've never had any real issue with them. They are scratch resistant, and pretty oliphobic (I believe that is the correct term) so they don't gather fingerprints too bad.
Thank you for your reply. I may have to buy the Ghost Armor myself. Please can you provide an update regarding the responsiveness of the screen once the Ghost Armor is installed? If its the same as before installation then I think that may be the best way to avoid these unwanted marks and scratches without having to remove the stock anti shatter film.

The Ghost Armor was supposed to be delivered to a local mall Ghost Armor kiosk today. I went to have it installed, and they hadn't received it. Said it was a problem with corporate. Supposed to be there in the next day or two. I'm having it sent there instead of to me directly because I've never had much luck putting the things on without air bubbles, or not getting them lined up right. I'll pay the extra $10 to let someone else put it on. I figure that they do it all day, every day, so have much more experience with them. I've used both Ghost Armor and Zagg before, and never had any touch screen issues.
Well I hope they get it in for you ASAP and all goes well with installation. I don't think I'm as lucky here in the UK, we don't have such kiosks, but if we did I bet they'd make a fortune. Thanks for the update!

I think you can use any of the screen protectors except the glass ones I guess.

nope glass ones are fine as well, the ASF does scratch very easily but I put all sorts of protector on top of it ie (PET, Tempered Glass, even wet installation type). I ended up removing it simply because I liked the look of it without it.
I am currently using the iSmooth front screen protector, and love it. The installation is easier than normal due to the protector being slightly thicker. I used an iSmooth on a Galaxy Note 2 through an entire deployment to Afghanistan, with no real wear that could be found. I highly recommend it.
That said, I love using this phone naked, so I might just break down and get some ghost armor. I personally don't mind the texture. I will warn you though... the corners have a chance to peel up if you put the phone in your pocket too early. I use a leather Xperia sleeve, so hopefully this won't happen to me (again).

Does the side armor cover the entirety of the device? The iPhone Ghost Armor seems to tend to leave openings when there are buttons/sim slot. Whe nI get my Z1, I want the thing covered completely.

I am in desperate need of a screen cover for my Z1. I have never used Ghost Armor before and would be interested if anyone can advise what the main difference is like between that of MatteArmor and GhostArmor?
Also has anyone tried this before as a comparison? http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/40820-Mu...=&locale_filter=6&sort_by=&show_all=1#reviews

Ghost Armor would be your typical clear cover, whilst matte would have a more matte feel to it, think of the feel that anti-glare screen protectors have. I'm actually thinking of going with Skinomi skins, since it's cheaper and it seems to cover more of the device when comparing some of the other products they each have together. I am unsure of how the Ghost Armor looks on the Z1, but I'd imagine it'd be about the same as something like the iPhone 4. Here's a link to the full body protection kit from Skinomi.

Appreciate your feedback and advice, thanks. Followed your link and seems to get great reviews, however I'm in the UK so cost wise for me probably wouldn't be so practical. Do you have experience of using the Armor or Zagg covers on previous phones, if you did what where your thoughts?

Luckily, they seem to sell them on the UK site as well.

Personally, I haven't tried any skins of this kind, the closest thing is a cheap carbon fiber skin I bought for 5 dollars on amazon, however, after watching several videos on youtube on different skins, I find that the Skinomi skins seem to cover more of the device, and have very nice cut outs. The Ghost Armor unfortunately cover too little for me to feel completely safe, and the Zagg skins seem very prone to getting a yellowish discolor.
The skins also have a sort of rubbery texture to them, which I personally am not too worried about so long as the device is protected, and if I don't like it on the front of the device, I can always just peel it off and replace it with a different screen protector, or maybe save up for a tempered glass one.
It might also be a good idea to still have a case on it, a bumper would be perfect if you want to show off your shiny new Z1, and protect not only the device, but the edges of the skin to keep them from getting all dirty and peeling off like what I've seen from some of the more unfortunate/heavy users.

Sorry that I haven't replied back sooner. The Ghost-Armor that I ordered from the mall kiosk didn't come in. I was in the town where my company is based (about four hours from home), and the guy at the kiosk admitted that he screwed up and didn't order it express as he had intended. I stopped by on Monday, but it wasn't going to arrive until the next day. He was actually extremely nice about it, and cut out a workable screen protector for me until I will get back there after the new year. It isn't quite as smooth a feel as without it, but it doesn't seem to affect screen response at all. I've got the full-body coverage waiting for me, but like I said won't be having that applied until around January 6th or 7th. I've used both Zagg and Ghost-Armor before, and I've never had any real problems with them. I have seen a little of the "orange-peel" using them, but not enough that it has ever bothered me. Search Zagg Invisible Shield orange peel, and you should get an idea of what I'm talking about.
Hi,
Well for now I've ordered the Muvit Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Sony Xperia Z1 from Mobilefun. Hopefully it will do the trick for now, though I may end up eating my words lol!! Realised it was actually this one I was after http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/krusell-self-healing-screen-protector-for-sony-xperia-z1-p40761.htm whoops!!
The invisible shield armour didn't get a great review by someone :-\
I have bought the most popular in amazon.fr atFolix screen protection. It has 3 layers for every side.

I am happy, especially if you know some tricks to do that.
I just bought a Anti-fingerprint and Anti-shocking for screen, but are they really useful and can be useable for behaving unexpected events? or just same ads which heard every day?

Price wise, dont fork out too much for a screen protector. You can pick a font and back quality GEARMAXX screen protector for less than $12 bucks from ebay

Tempered Armor Glass Screen Protector

Tempered Armor just launched their Galaxy S3 tempered glass screen protector December 2nd. Saw a review video for their Note 3 protector and absolutely loved it (Link if curious: http://youtu.be/Qzhst5jrBtI). I picked it up the same day it released.
It came in two days ago and of course I install it immediately. At first, I thought great, the adhesive is doing it's thing. Then, once I took the blue plastic cover off, the disappointment set it. At a nearly uniform distance completely around the protector, the adhesive doesn't stick. I had used their packaged microfiber and their packaged isopropyl wipes for the install. Thought cool, maybe it will take a few days. And fast forward to today, it still looks the same.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I love how it feels; I've always hated those crappy plastic protectors.
I reached out to Tempered Armor via Twitter and got no help other than them claiming it was user error and/ or the alignment is off. I sent them a Dropbox link with pictures of the alignment and they came back with the protector won't work if it is "off a hair".
Here's our Twitter conversation: https://twitter.com/temperedarmor/status/413801200866574336

So if you are thinking about ordering one, make sure you have a micron microscope to get it aligned correctly.
Meh,
I have had similar problems with SProtectors. I do believe that the glass on most S3's have a slight curve at the outer edge.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Whenever I press down on the outside edge, it feels like the glass protector doesn't even try to stick. I feel like the adhesive wasn't properly applied to the protector before shipping.
What really got me was when customer support mentioned if it was "off a hair" it wouldn't sit right. How are you going to sell a screen protector that has a fault tolerance in alignment of a width of a hair?
Typical lack of customer service or care. This why I try to support companies like, Anker, zero lemon, Amazon. They actually care about quality and their customers. As info,
We have 3 galaxy S3 in my home and all have a slight curve downward at the edges.

I love tempered glass screen protectors. But why spend that much money on that one. I got mine off Ebay and they look way better than the one posted in the OP. The one I have sticks all the way around.
here's an example of one... (not sure which seller I bought from. it's been a several weeks since I ordered.)

I knew of the owner of the company from my days as an iPhone modder. Thought he would be a bit more "in touch" with the community and more helpful than "nope, you broke it. lalalalala can't hear you".

The one I have is .3, so just a bit thinner. on all of the cases I have used, it doesn't interfere with the case. I have used it with the Otterbox Commuter case and it looks fine. Right now, I'm using it with a rubber/plastic case that I found at Walgreen's of all places. There is usually a small gap between the edge of the screen protector and the case. I'll see if I can get a picture up
EDIT
Here's mine with a case and the glass screen on it (sorry pic quality is bad, taken with an Ipad, of course)

Whenever i put a screen protector on my s3 the touch screen glitches, key presses al over the screen like whenever i press the app drawer it opens my notification bar, whenever i type something it scrolls up,so does that have anything to do with the quality of the screen protector?
