International Ascend P6 KitKat Update Pushed to June - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Bad news to INT users of P6
http://huaweinews.com/2014/05/ascend-p6-june/

Just install Chinese firmware, change language and then download google playstore. Its 99.9% as good as intentional.

I know but I hear that Chinese characters appear here and there and I don't have an urge to follow TWRP + GAPPS workarounds. I'll be waiting but you're right, workaround is there if you want to.
Just don't understand why it takes so long for Huawei to release something that's "99.9%" done

The chinese stuff is just one small place when checking phone call details from history.
You dont need TWRP for gapps because Playstore works directly without even need for rooting. You then can download the gapps you need through playstore.
The release delay is because the release is being done by regional Huawei centers and not from China. You should ask with the regional Huawei when the release would be as they would have a more specific date rather than the average date from the schedule.

Yes, you should do that. I said it before, that the Huawei team told to my friend who was at the P7 event, that the p6 update will be out in 2weeks (may 21-22). And also my country (Hungary) huawei said it will arrive end of may. I already contacted them about this announcement, when i get another info, will post it.

Got the anserw again from Huawei! Here you are!
The official information by the Vmall forum is true. Hungary will rolling out the update before end of May. It's possible that some AscendP6 owners will be able to upgrade their device at the beginning of June, because there are different versions, for different regions. Thank you for your patience! Hello!

This will help you:
"Make sure you have root access and Root Explorer installed. The file which handles the headphones is in /system/etc/audio/codec/asound_UEDGE_ce_NDL.dat - rename it or delete it at all"

nah, soundmagic E10. I think I'll wait for official KK upgrade b4 trying out that root fix. I read someone reported an improvement in audio quality with KK
I used those with galaxy ace before which (although custom rom) sounded superior

The ones that come with the phone are cheap, cheap, cheap.
The sound board on the P6 is excellent actually - good base control.

I've tried every ROM for this phone /even B132/ and no one have good sound level, so Delete the file and you will hear the difference

Huawei Romania confirm 10 june for oficial update to 4.4.2 KitKat. And a few minor updates after that, for fixing any bugs, until end of 2014.

Looking for a new phone is the lg g4 good ?

Hello guys i am currently using a Samsung S3 Neo and im looking to buy a new phone. So from reviews like Android authority it seemed very good, performance is great and the camera is amazing but i saw this problem with them called the ''bootloop'' so im wondering if I should buy it. Is the bootloop fixable or not existing anymore because i read that it was only in the models produced the first 2-3 months.

I'm still in love with this camera quality and performance overall.
Isn't bootloop related with custom roms?

I have it like for 6 months now and zero problems.
I didn't even thought the problem you mentioned was hardware related hehehe
I really thought was custom Rom related.
To be honest I never was a really LG fan because in my country there's like only a few stores with LG accessories etc.
Like I said, for me phone is about camera quality and performance because I use phone as a work gadget.
So... My next one will LG5 if camera please me.

G4 right know has unbelievable value for money!
It has great performance, amazing display, top-tier camera (especially if you learn how to use manual mode), 3000mAh battery and ample ROM support
Just be sure to get an H815 International model if you plan on rooting and doing custom ROM!

you can root locked bootloader only if on lollipop 5.1 and you can also have xposed....
if phone its on marshmallow you also need to know the antirollback version.. like you cant downgrade marshmallow V3 antiroll to Lolliop V2 itll brick phone..
am you must be aware that some devices have bootloop.. and the best thing is for you to have the closest country that has bootloader unlocked... for example. if you are in europe and have the h811 tmobile from usa.. if bootloop.. the phone must be sent to tmobile or to LG usa. unless the place you buy it gives you warranty.... so its best to have one for your country.. if from usa .. they wont fix it in wurope you must send phone to USA...
here is the list on the ones that can be unlock.

read before posting i said to him to get a bootloader unlockable h815 phone. and i stated that he can only root locked bootloader one if hes on LP. just in case he doesnt get one unlockable one. as he might have to send it back in case of bootloop.

Is our phone a lost hope?

no promised updates, no good custom Roms, no one wants to port lineage os for us, and the list goes on and on.
if by March still no update by HTC, I'll be giving up on HTC products and venture into OnePlus. so sad to see HTC gone to ****. /rant
Totally agree with you.
Let's talk about the alternatives / improvements.
5 inch display, dual sim, microUSB expansion and stereo sound are my "must have".
Any decent alternatives out there?

I myself prefer a minimum screen of 5.5 the bigger the better but definitely not beyond 6 or maybe 6.2(I'm gonna wait for s8 xl to come out to see if 6 is my max or 6.2) dual SIM is not a must for me but it's nice to have i guess. expansion is a must i think for external backup and such. our HTC one stereo speakers are just soo soo good though I'm gonna miss it for sure. AMOLED is a must for my next phone it's just so beautiful! ofcourse the camera has to be superior too.
at the moment i really am considering OnePlus due to its versatility and support and since I'm not from the US so pixel is out for me. to be honest, I'm gonna wait for note 8 and Nokia flagship to come out before i make my final decision. I grew up with Nokia if the flagship turns out to be superior I maybe going with Nokia i think.
If you are considering the Galaxy S8 or S8+ but miss the stereo speakers of many HTC phones dont forget the S8 and S8+ are remoured to also have stereo speakers, top and bottom. Though not at front ofcourse.
But guess we'll have to wait and see for sure.
On the topic of the E9+ and software updates I have recently emailed HTC support India side and they actually got back to me.
They did say the E9+ is only upgradeable to Marshmallow meaning it wont get Nougat.
But they didnt actually say it will be getting Marshmallow, only that its only upgradeable to Marshmallow.
I messaged them back asking if it will still defo be getting Marshmallow though. Still waiting for reply.
But it did sound like it will be getting it,but they cannot give me a timeframe as to when though.

out of curiosity, are you on stock e9+ or you have custom rom installed? if custom what room did you use? I'm from Malaysia and the only rom that works for me is E9pw_Android5.0_Sense70_E1.zip which I got from this site and it works just ok but not that great imo https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/boycracked.com/2016/02/05/official-stock-rom-firmwareruu-htc-one-e9-plus-a55ml-e9pw/amp/
Im on stock rom.
One advice. Don't buy **** models instead of flagship next time.
It's always the same with HTC, we should learn that at the end, is a ****ty company.

There is a very simple method to avoid phones like this with no support. Before purchase look into specs and search for "CPU" row. You see anything with "Mediatek" in the name you immediately forget about purchasing this phone. Works everytime.

Global and Chinese version?

I know there is international version can be bought in Hong Kong, with all assets against Chinese.
However, it is much easier for me to ro get Chinese... Maybe it will be also cheaper, but it is second story.
My question is if will be possible to install global fw in China phone?
Thanks
Short answer. Nope. At least not now.
O must see prices of both. Generally, China phones localisation is not so poor, with some work, one ca adopt is enough. I have now honor note 10, same work...
I hope it would be possible to unlock BL and root and de_chinise it.

So I live in China. I was just at the Huawei store an hour ago. And I had the same question; Can I eventually put the International rom on the Chinese version?
All I can say is that right now, the easiest way to do that is to buy the phone in Hong Kong for example.
But the problem is that they sell the 128Gb/6G RAM for almost 200 USD more than the price you get the Mate pro 8GB RAM/256 GB version in China..
I think I'll go with the Chinese version, waiting to switch the rom at some point.
PS: If installing the google suite is not possible by allowing apks of unknown source
I afraid this will never work...
but thankes. key is price difference. i will also go on al00
Not to mention the global version only comes in the blue color. I didn't like that.

Oh yeah?
So just to be clear,
- DL the .apk(s) for the google suite and allowing "unknown sources" from the mate 20 will make possible to have the google apps?
It seems too easy to be true, but maybe you're right, I have no idea.
I just want to make sure that I won't buy it to realize that this won't work.
Returning anything here in China is a real pain, even on the same day

You dont need to install google suite apk. Just install play apk from apk mirror. It worked with note 10. And working with mate20x from china. Google services are already baked on rom by default.

China - bloatware - no need

Eu - everything global has and more regarding updates, root ability, and twrp working without issues.
EU. Plain and simple. Anyone tells you otherwise, they haven't tested enough.

I've got to be honest , with the options for Miracast ( built in) and Chromecast ( using apps) i would have thought plugging in a phone these days is a bit superfluouse. I've been using both to cast my phone to a Projector ,TV and Speakers, and have not even thought about USB 3 leads now.

Call recording? Where to buy?

I very much want to retain call recording on my next phone (which I need to buy asap before my old one dies). I was going to go with the OP7T since I have read it is still possibly with a rooted phone and it is one of the very few with for still possible.
Rooting without a idiot-proof tool-program is a bit off-putting though. And call-recording is the only reason I am interested in rooting (haven't felt the need for many years).
I have read that OnePlus phones have call recording enabled anyhow depending upon where the phone is purchased. What places would those be? UK or anywhere in the EU? USA? Gearbest?
Thanks in advance! I've just read the Asus ZenFone makes rooting incredibly easy so I guess that's also an option?

I very much want to retain call recording on my next phone (which I need to buy asap before my old one dies). I was going to go with the OP7T since I have read it is still possibly with a rooted phone and it is one of the very few with for still possible.
Rooting without a idiot-proof tool-program is a bit off-putting though. And call-recording is the only reason I am interested in rooting (haven't felt the need for many years).
I have read that OnePlus phones have call recording enabled anyhow depending upon where the phone is purchased. What places would those be? UK or anywhere in the EU? USA? Gearbest?

That's the best news I've had all month!
Can it install a 3.5 Jack too?

Haha nope and it also cannot install a notification led. I hope for you it doesn't have restrictions like the country you live in. You have to try it first.

I cannot find it. Which country are you from?
edit: never mind, i used a non-oxygen OS phone. If this really works without root, I will be a verry happy person

How well is the call-recording working for the those of you enabling it with jOnePlus Tools w/o root?
I have read mixed reviews. So whats your experience?
I assume there is no other way enabling call-recording w/o root?
it's a shame that this core feature is hidden by the corporate.
however the function is there with every device i had since this option was hid.
that's why i prefer rooting to enable it.
rooting OnePlus is the easiest of all brands.
plus, the external apps are rarely working, and you have to pay to play.
Nevermind...
