[Q] Want upgrade to 4.4.2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
Just bought an used Note II. It has 4.3 and I want 4.4.2. Software updates on the phone tells me 4.3 is the latest. Kies on imac is telling me the same.
Baseband version: N7100ZSENA1
Current firmware = Latest firmware = PDA: NA1, PHONE: NA1, CSC: NA1 (TGY)
It means that the update is not ready for that country? What country is NA1 (TGY)? Can I change that somehow and get the latest firmware?
Thank you in advance.

Update might not have arrived on your country. But you can get the ofiical firmware from here and instructions too. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=28988

Thank you.
I'm also interested in knowing which country is NA1 (TGY). According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Csc, TGY is Hong Kong. That means the phone was bought from Hong Kong?
If i flash that firmware, it will change country to India and will have OTA updates when available in India?

I would advise you flash the French Version and not the Indian version cause it carries the modem file that is tailor made for Indian users only, people who use that modem outside of India might experience sudden battery drain and weak signal (the ones that are rooted can take care of it by flashing the french modem or one of the older 4.3 modems) but you wont be and you'd have to flash French rom which carries a XX labelled modem that works for most EU countries although XF is the one for romania

http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29588 - is this the right one?
Will this be enough? Or do I need to flash a different modem firmware? After this the phone will be french version instead of hong kong version?

Ya thats the latest one that released today.Download it and flash via pc odin.I am not too sure if your phone would change to "french version" look at my screenshot of attached CSC .Shows BTU (which is UK) and CSC country is UK AND IRE (cause i believe the stock rooted ROM from the developer i got turned the CSC into this i guess he's from that part of the world) and my note II is originally from Dubai and been using it in India .So you can imagine by poor phone has been touringaround the world..LOL But doesn't affect me cause i never upgrade to stock roms from sammobile i always get the stock dedoxed pre rooted ones from xda so CSC doesn't matter to me unless it messed my phone up.
Read this post below that would give you more info about how does flashing a rom from another country works
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52767907&postcount=11

This is mine. Should I go then for french update or wait for hing kong version.
Is it ok that I'm using hong kong version in romania? France is closer

Ok, I did the firmware update from France.

Is this ok? Do I need to do anything else?

Battery life seems worse on 4.4.2. Should I flash different modem firmware?

Since you are on stock 4.4.2 you got two options, either flash a custom 4.4.2 custom ROM (dr ketan's rom is the least bloated and very close to stock)so that would give you a good estimate how your battery drain is or you flash a custom 4.3 (there are tons available out there choose the one which impresses you the most)

For now I wish to stay on stock ROM. But battery life on 4.3 was much better than on 4.4.2.

Well give it few days and see if it improves ,if it doesn't then only option is to root your phone and try custom 4.3 or 4.4 ROMS.Good luck

Why not give it a try? The 4.3 stock firmware should be on sammobile's site. Why carry another battery when you don't have to?

Assuming you upgraded (as in kept all your apps and data) from 4.3 to 4.4.2 then you should probably factory reset before judging battery life. Some apps just never play ball again after an update.
The rule typically is:
x.x.a to x.x.b - wipe only if experience issues
x.a.x to x.b.x - wipe suggested but not generally required
a.x.x to b.x.x - wipe generally required

Chinese firmwares B116 to B120, have a bricking problems. International versions work fine.
Dont know if your B103 rom is region modified. But latest international firmware and best stable one is B125. You can get download link from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566453
There are custom roms and beta KK. But better to first get a hang of B125.

No, since it doesn't have any band block. My fear is to install (for example) B125 and end up with my phone bricked or in chinese. I saw they have available the firmeware in their website, so if something goes wrong i can roll it back to factory software? or there's any possibility of end up with a bricked phone?
i'm thinking on upgrade it to B125 and after that, install HYD52ROM V7
PS: my knowledge about this is not to good yet, that's why I'm so insecure about it
By the way the common bands used by the phones and modems here are HSPA/UMTS 850/2100Mhz Edge/GPRS/GSM 850/900/1800/1900Mhz

International firmware versions are safe. No worries.
To install custom roms you would have to read up on installing custom recoveries and so on.
But anyway go for B125 for now. Its easy and safe :good: We might see an official Kitkat update soon. :good:
CN118 to start with....
Got this amazing phone from Claro CR, so far I have installed CN118 Chinese version and TWRP recovery.
I had flash LightningKat and HYD52ROM for testing, both real nice and stable, currently running LightningKat KK version and waiting for stable version of CM11 to try on.
This is an amazing piece of device, in order to avoid bricks, just read read and read before try.

[Q] Samsung Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 firmware

I have an question I own the samsung galxy tab 3 7inch wifi only tablet it,s currently on rocket tab 3.1 firmware with black hawk kernel flashed
i have the european model
Now is my question can you install other countries firmware as sample i have the dutch (the netherlands) stock firmware can i flash the us firmware
or the uk firmware thru odin so that i have the us or uk version on my tablet.
because i have read that those two firmware have better battery life with stock dutch firmware i can,t use the battery for more than 6hours and then i must charge it because i then have left nearly 13procent of battery.
this is also on rocket tab 3.1 i can,t use my tab for more than 6 hours and is then also empty.
so if anybody can help me or answer my question i would be happy for it
Sure just go to sammobile.com and choose sm-t210r for the us version and smt210 for the uk and other european countries or anyother countries but as along as you are using rockettab 3.1 then it uses its firmware according to the dev (tempdroid) and no matter what stock country you flash, when you flash rockettab it changes your's tab firmware to its own firmware
So the battery drain is coming from the rockettab's firmware in your case or maybe because of the blackhawk kernel so try with the original kernel of rockettab which is the latest stock kernel then see which is better and if neither of them had no improvements then try to flash other countries' firmwarss

i have tried the rocket tab 3.1 with stock kernel and now i tried it with black hawk kernel and now result according to greater battery life
i have also tried al the others rom that are avaible on xda forum also the the port roms and they al boot but can,t put on the bluetooth or the wifi
can i also install the sm-t210R firmware on the normale sm-t210
If you were to look around and read a little you would have already found that answer. So...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2725037
so if i understand it right you can install the sm-t210r firmware on the sm-t210 and vice versa thats good to know then
only thing that i must do is juice the odin 3.07 version and full battery life

Flashing with different region firmware.

Hi guys, I have Galaxy Note 10.1 SM-P605. My one is most likely a Malaysian variant. Baseband version: P605XXUCOE1. I still haven't got the lollipop update on this variant. Now kinda planning to flash it with the Finland version. So I have some questions here before I do...
1. Will there be any sort of problem because of different baseband/ region?
2. Will I have to face any issue with knox or official OTA updates in future?
Thanks in advance.= :fingers-crossed:
I can only answer half of your questions, as my device is rooted, so i don't get official updates anyway. Flashing a different region firmware never caused me any troubles, not on my 10.1, or my Galaxy Note4, so it won't affect the functionality of your device.
As for Knox, it will trip Knox as you are flashing a kernel not for the same region...
It may just bootloop. Make sure you have a stock rom to go back to, mind you this may not work if the bootloader is upgraded to a newer version, say KK to L or L to MM....

Ya after first flash I went through bootloop, after the second one it was fine. Now enjoying Lollipop on my tablet.

Glad to know man, btw I am having only 1 problem that is it's not showing my operator's name on lock screen or in connection settings, instead it's showing the 5 digit number code of my operator. Thats not a major issue I guess, must be some conflict with regions.

Unroot/Relock bootloader

I know Knox will stay tripped, but how do I unroot/flash stock? Using netflix was 50% of what I used this tablet for and now that they blocked root, I can't watch it anymore. I tried to use magisk, but it doesn't work at all for me on cyanogenmod. If anyone can recommend a rom that magisk 100% works on, without laggy videos in youtube/twitch/netflix, that would be awesome! If not, can someone link me a way to unroot/relock the bootloader so that I am able to use netflix again. I'm currently running cyanogenmod 12.1. Thanks!!
Just flash back the official ROM, your tablet status will be official but the Knox count won't change. Search sammobile for your model, if you can root then flash back official firmware is not a problem.

Region doesn't matter, I have SM-T580 runs Germany firmware, SM-P580 runs Korean firmware because both are Android 7.
You can take the Australia firmware. Fact you should know: all Samsung tablets sold around the world are the same tablets, the difference is software customized to certain region.
Open a tablet sold in Asia, it's the same as the one sold in US, if loaded with US firmware, it becomes an US tablet.
I have one US tablet with Google Locked, downgraded it to Hong Kong firmware to bypass Google Lock, then upgraded it Nougat with Germany or Korean firmware.
I doesn't matter which firmware I loaded as long as English is my language of choice. Every region, you see the CSC ( Customer Software Customization ) file along with the AP file, that's the difference.

Downgrade to Android 12, One UI 4 - because of broken ANT+ Support?

Is there a possibility to downgrade to the last Stock ROM?
How to do this?
It's because of the broken ANT+ Support. Custom ROM with ANT+ would be great too, but I can't find one with working ANT+. Any recommendations?

You can flash Android 12 Firmware using odin.
Just download firmware files from Frija by typing your phones model number.
As for the CSC, the only one I know of with Android 12 as of now is KSA.
Once you get all the firmware files, place them in odin and flash while your phone is in download mode.

Thanks for your swift and helpful reply!
Is the wrong CSC a problem? I would need DBT for Germany unbranded.
Dispite of this, I can't find a Android 12 Firmware for my SM-G980F with Frija - not even with KSA.

Wrong CSC shouldn't be a problem as long as you have a sim card installed, but then again, it doesn't matter anyways since you want to stay on Android 12.
The S20 got updated into Android 13 in most countries.
Second way to do this is via those websites either Sammobile or samfrew where you just input your Phones model, CSC, and select what Android version you want.
