[Q] Update via Wi-Fi - says I'm not connected

I'm trying to update my Note 8 via Wi-Fi (the only option for me), but as soon as I press"check for updates" in the settings menu, it says:
Unable to proceed with software update without Wi-Fi connection.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Click to collapse
I am connected to a Wi-Fi network. Internet is working absolutely fine, and there's no outgoing firewall that might block certain addresses.
The tablet displays this message *instantly* after pressing the "check for updates" option. It doesn't even try anything (or doesn't seem to).
So how do I get this to work? I'm still running Android 4.1.2 on it (stock) and I thought it's time for an update by now...

If you have a 5120 or 5100 without a carrier, you may not get any update if the settings are Data only.
You may check with Kies and see if it pulls a firmware update for you.
Not all provider Notes will have updates to 4.2.2. Only the 5110 has such an update.

Ah, I just found a setting that may be the cause of your issue... In settings go to data usage, and check the settings for Data Usage in the upper right hand corner (3 horizontal bars)... the menu will have an option to restrict background data. If it is checked then uncheck it, and try again.
That's weird, I could have sworn I saw an update being available a few months back. Kies says my 4.1.2 is the latest firmware.
This is weird, because 4.1 is pretty old by now...
What exactly do you mean by not all carriers get the 4.2.2 upgrade? There is no carrier involved...
There is, if you have the 5100 or 5120 (GSM editions, they ARE carrier branded, therefore will go through the carrier update process).

Latest Version?

I just bought my Smartwatch 3 today. Other than the bulky clasp, I'm liking it a lot. I know Lollipop is on the way, but is it supposed to be on 4.4W.2 yet? I'm on W.1 and when I check for an update it says I'm on the latest software.
Maybe try Sony's update software http://support.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/ , also make sure all the related apps on the connected phone are up to date, including Android Wear and Play Services.

Same problem for me so no 4.4W.2 = No GPS :crying:
Connected in USB to a PC, the SW3 isn"t totally recognized (Driver problem...) and cannot connect to Sony's PC Companion
All apps and Android Wear are on the latest version on my Nexus 4 (Lollipop installed)
Tried to reset and connect my SmartWatch 3 to my Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. No update available even connected to a KitKat Android 4.4
Tried this trick but didn't worked...
Reset the watch
While the watch is resetting, unpair watch in phone via bluetooth settings
Uninstall and re-install the Android Wear app
Pair normally
Once paired on watch, before even doing tutorial, go to Settings and check for updates
Finally updated after reading XorZone [Guide] Soft unbrick/reflash stock firmware
Power Off the SW3 normally
Download and install PC Companion
click on "Support Zone", it will be downloaded,
click on "Accessories software update" and then you can choose SmartWatch 3 and PC Companion App waiting for a SW3 connected in USB
Start the SW3 by a long press on the power button until an image saying "connect USB"
Connect the SW3, the driver will be automatically installed.
Sony Companion App will detect that an update is available i.e 4.4W.2
Download start and the SW3 is updated in less than 5mn
5.0.1 is out today.

No Bluetooth MAP profile, flash to get it?

So my G4 appears to not have a Bluetooth MAP profile or at least it's not working. Is it possible to flash a working stock ROM or an apk to get fully working Bluetooth?

Mic not working in calls and sound recording

Hi guys. Really hoping someone out there can help me. I don't know what I did to my phone. First it was having problems calling where the call would cut as soon as it dialed, it wouldn't even ring once. Then the mic stopped working. So I did a factory reset. The calls work now but the mic does not work. I get it to work sometimes but mainly it doesn't. I had rooted it with kingroot earlier so I tried unrooting but I am not sure if it works. When I use the app to check root status it says it is not rooted properly. But my droidwall app which uses root still works. However file explorer with root does not work. When I access engineering mode my mic level is always on 0. I change it but it keeps reverting back. My video recording works and it does record sound. Really not sure why the mic won't work on calls or on sound recorder. I tried under diagnostics also doesn't work. My software updates also fail to run. When I run superuser it says other applications like it are installed, when I try remove it it doesn't work. I ran an antivirus scan and it found kingroot as a problem but I can't find it under apps to uninstall. And on the anti virus when I click to uninstall it it says failed.
My android version is 5.1 and Model number is E5603. I am scared to return it to the store because I'm no sure if its still rooted. Any help will be highly appreciated
Try this:
Install KingRoot again and open the app,in setting of the app find an option to uninstall/unroot that should unroot your device.
After you've unrooted repair you device with Xperia Companion, you can download it on sonys web site, but you might get an update to update your device to MM,if you don't want to update your phone to MM you have to use flashtool to reflash your curent firmware, but be careful flashtool is a little bit complicated,so do some reading first. After that you take your device to repair, because i think your problem is hardware not software.2-3 months ago i had to take my device to repair because of speaker problem.
The reason your videos are working is that xperia devices have to speakers one for calls and recordings and the other for taking videos.Hope i could be of any help. Good luck

Phone Locked

Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy A70 on latest May 2021 One UI 3.1 update, phone was working fine till this morning, when I tried to manually update some system apps.
I downloaded Device Services latest release from apkmirror, once I installed it, the device showed a "Phone Locked" screen, with IMEI on the next line, followed by:
"This phone can't be used without authorisation"
WiFi was connected for a few hours, I can receive phone calls, even Whatsapp calls, Google Assistant & Bixby are working fine, everything is cool except the fact that I can't bypass this lock screen.
I can use ADB, my bootloader is still locked, my phone has never been modified. I don't want to lose internal data by doing a factory reset.
Any help would be marvelous. Thanks.
