I just got this tablet (to replace the garbage SGH-I467) a few days ago (Thu., May 15th). For the first couple of days it worked like a dream. However, the last 4 nights/3 days, I have been encountering some strange issues. What I will do here is describe the issues I've been having, what I have done in attempts to fix them, list some of the things I think may have caused it, and include any additional info/questions.
Before all that though, I would like to mention that I am not a developer, but I am a bit 'tech savvy' and am more familiar with/knowledgeable of technology than the average user. Also, I have spoken with Samsung tech support and even had the support guy access my Tab Pro 12.2 remotely (I will explain what I learned from that below). So, without further ado (I apologize in advance for the long winded nature of this post, but I want detailed):
The Issues:
1) Screen "flickering"—By flickering I mean that it is shutting off and turning on rather rapidly and sporadically, though inconsistently.
I first encountered the problem 3 days ago (the 18th).
Four nights ago (the 17th), before going to bed, I plugged the device into the same outlet I have used for all my mobile devices, when I woke up (on the 18th) the screen was doing exactly what I described. I hit the home button a few times and it stopped.
That night (the 18th) I plugged it back in to the usual spot before going to bed. The next morning (yesterday, the 19th), the screen was "flickering" again. I tried to press the home key a few times, as well as both the soft keys, nothing. In between "flickers" you can see the lock screen, where I have to enter a pin, but even while visible I can't type anything. So this time, to try to solve the problem, I held the power button + volume up to get to recovery and wiped the cache partition, rebooted the device, and viola, it worked again. Thinking that I may have to factory reset the device if the problem persists, I used Kies to backup all my data. I used the tablet the rest of the day, even plugged it in (in a different outlet than the one next to my bed) for a while and had no issues.
Last night (the 19th) I did pretty much the same thing, but this time, thinking that it might be an issue with the device getting too much power (the Quick Start Guide says: "Note: Connecting the travel adapter improperly may cause serious damage to the device."), I used a travel adapter from one of my other, USB 2.0 devices (the only difference between the adapters is the output: 2.0 = 5.0V—2.0A vs. 3.0 = 5.3V—2.0A, and output was specifically what I was concerned with). This morning (the 20th) the problem has returned, but now includes my second issue: the hard home button and both soft keys, back and recent apps, no longer function. So I immediately tried to wipe the cache partition and reboot, but this time it didn't work. Thankfully I had anticipated this yesterday and had that Kies backup, so I wiped the entire device back to factory settings. But alas, it was unsuccessful and the problem persists, including the loss of button functionality, with the exception of the power and volume buttons.
It is important to note that when I first got the Tab Pro 12.2 and set up the lock screen, I used the option that delays the actual locking of the device 10 minutes after screen timeout, but set it so that if I lock the screen with the power button it ISN'T delayed and immediately locks. That being said, a couple of times when the "flickering" stopped long enough to momentarily use the device, I was able to enter my pin and unlock. But when the screen starts flickering again, it locks the device, so the power button must be affected as well. Though since the first factory reset of the device, I haven't set up a pin. I have done several factory resets and none of them have worked. The best result has simply been limited (no back, recent apps or home key) and momentary functionality. I tried using Kies to do emergency firmware recovery, but every time I click the option it disconnects the device.
When Samsung tech support remotely accessed by device (I used one of the momentary functionality windows to download the required application) the agent was able to utilized soft and home key functionality, even though I couldn't. This tells me that it was hardware related, not related to UI/software.
So there are a couple of things I think may have caused/contributed to the problem:
The first, which I vaguely touched on above, is the power issue. Perhaps I have shorted the device out somehow. The outlet I use to charge things while I'm sleeping is on the wall behind my bed, so I have to use a common extension cord, one that has 3 outlets at the end. I have a light plugged into that and in the past have charged both my SGH-I467 (AT&T Note 8.0) and my SGH-I747 (AT&T S4 Active) with that cord and outlet. That is the only place I have charged the SM-T900 overnight, but none of the other power sources I have used have caused these issues.
The second possibility is a virus some sort. I have never used the Samsung app store on any of my other devices, but in order to update the Hancom Office suite I had to. Since I had an enjoyable time using it to that end, I decided to see what else I could find on Samsung's store. I downloaded a couple of things (the "Official Captain America game" and a couple wallpaper/theme apps) and was looking around the store to see if there was anything else I wanted to download. I found several apps that had reviews claiming they were trojans, so I immediately checked the reviews for the apps I had downloaded, but none of them had similar reviews. However, that does not mean they didn't have viruses.
So, what do the resident Android gurus of XDA think about these issues?
I tried searching all over the forums and elsewhere online for people having the same issues, but couldn't find anything. Have any of you ever encountered something similar to this?
Until recently, I hadn't ever heard of anyone getting a virus on an Android device. Are they common? What is the nature of Android viruses?
If these issues do have something to do with overcharging/shorting the device, how can I mitigate that problem? Tonight when I charge the tablet, instead of using the USB 3.0 charging cable, I am going to try just using the 2.0 cable. As I understand it, that can be done by simply plugging it into the right side of the port. Hopefully that will stop exacerbating the problem.
Again, I apologize for such a long winded post. I would like to thank you all in advance. If ever I have problems with an Android, you guys are the ones to ask!
*UPDATE* Before I started typing this I was attempting to run the Kies 'Firmware Upgrade and Initialization', as opposed to 'Emergency Firmware Recovery', to see if that too would disconnect the device. Unfortunately it said that my device needed to be charged first. So I shut it down and plugged it into a surge protected strip and began typing this post. Occasionally I would go over an check the charge. While it was shut down and charging I was able to use the home key to bring up the green battery. Once the charge looked like it was about 75% complete I turned it back on and lo and behold, the "flickering" issue looks resolved and so does the button issue. I can go back, enter the recent apps and task manager, and use the home key functions. For how long this will last, however, is unknown. I guess we'll see in the morning. I'll post what happens tomorrow.
What kind of case are you using? Some users have seen issues with some cases that use magnets for auto-sleep-wake. When the front of the cover is flipped back behind the tablet, the magnets seem to activate the auto-sleep feature

same issues here
Sounds exactly as the same issue I have had the last week. I have done several factory resets triad to avoid installing as many applications as I had prior the factory reset (to see If it was an app causing the issue). No solution yet but I will try your way with kies described above. I have a tab pro 8.4.

I am no guru, but it sounds like a loose connection. Maybe it is affected by temperature. Try it on a (not too) hot water bottle or on freezer packs.

It's not overheating. It can get warm, but it's never gotten hot. And I've had other devices that have seriously overheated and still functioned, albeit slowly.
**UPDATE**
After I got it working the night I originally posted I let it fully charge (it's important to note that I got it up to about 75% while it was off; green battery the only thing on the screen, and I had home button functionality), then disconnected it and disabled all the radios, put it in power saving and left it over night without power. Doing that I was able to use it all day yesterday. But while I was full-charging it, after it reached 100%, I noticed that it started acting up almost immediately. The sound was on and kept making the lock screen sound (that's how I noticed it from across the room). So it is tied to the power/lock key. But disconnecting it before it could get out of control mitigated the problem. Last night I was going to try to charge it over night with USB 2.0, but I fell asleep before changing the cable out, so it charged on 3.0 all night and is back in poor repair. I'm currently trying to full charge it while off to see if that gives me functionality again.
Either way, each time I fix it the solution becomes more difficult/timely than the previous one. It's clearly not getting better, so I'm going to have to send it in to repairs.

Sorta sounds like a screen grounding problem. I had a nexus seven with this issue and the charger seemed to really make it act up. Needless to say I gave that to my wife and bought this. If the digitizer is not grounded properly it will act up.
Turning on developer settings and set it to show touches on screen. See if when charging the screen registers more touches than you are doing.

Damn! That's an outstanding idea! The only downside is that last night I sent the tablet to Samsung's repair department, so I can't test that out. But once I get it back, if the problem persists I will definitely be doing that first. Thanks for the advice dottat.

Hey dude, check out dottat's reply. He's got a really good idea that may shed some light on the source of the problem. Unfortunately, I can't try it out. If you do it, let me know how it goes. Maybe you can take some screenshots? Either way, hopefully you can get something out of it.

Hello all! Ive just recently got my Xperia arc, and flashed a nightly build of CM7 on it, number 20. Everything seemed to run smoothly, but just now screen started to behave very weird, it almost seem to have osme kind of "ghostly" second touch.
The upper part of the screen is almost impossible to use, when I try select an app to move it on the screen, by holding finger down, it just flickers for a second and gets deselected. If I manage to select it and drag+hold, it starts spazing out all over the screen, with screens switching between eachother by it self.
The problem is especially noticeable in games, where you usually have a joystick controller in bottom left corner. When using it, I usually trigger the buttons above it in the upper left corner which I am no where near at with my finger.
Is this a ROM issue, or hardware issue? Ive been using the rom for couple of days with no strange to it, and now this happens. Any ideas what the source can be?

Sorry for bump, but apparently the problem remained. I changed to XDA rom, which too is based on CM7 thou and after a day I stumbled upon same problem of ghotsly second touch on screen.
I cant hold to move apps, cant precisely press a button in game on left side of screen, it then triggers some other button nearby. I do get haptic feedback from long press on a homescreen, but the "add new" menu popups only every few tries Any ideas of what may be causing this? I would really like to avoid the hassle of resetting the phone and sending it back for repairs :/

No, this phone is only few days old.
I think I am noticing a pattern.. screen behaves this way only late evenings, till next morning. I never noticed the issue during the day, but then it was there again for no reason after I left phone for couple of hours (it's past midnight here at the moment). Now when I think back, same was previous two evening, issue only noticeable during late evenings. Could my phone be possessed lol?
It's quite weird issue too. Upper half of the screen seems to have a ghost touch as I said. When trying to add a widget to upper screen, I only get a haptic feedback from long press. When playing games, all buttons on left side (landscape mode) get activated as soon I press one of them. Most weird of all, is that screens works perfectly in app drawer and settings, but not in app/homescreen. I will test how it is again tomorrow and report. If it works just fine again as if nothing happened I will be really puzzled.
Currently on CM7 Xda version, same was for official version. I am considering updating to MIUI, just gotta figure this radio difference stuff, but am becoming sceptic to whether this issue really lies with ROM and not app/settings.

I've figured the cause, it only happens when the phone is plugged in and charging. Beats me why thou, what remains to see now is if it is tied to the kernel or not. Posting it here in case others with similar problem stumble upon the thread.
Are you using the stock charger, i used to face bit similar problem when i used to connect my old HTC USB charger... later i discover the HTC charger was giving only 500mA , where as sony one is rated at 700mA.

Thanks for the tip! Turns out it didn't like my 1000mA charger I am using for all my usb stuff, but the stock on works perfect (it's 850mA).
I've had this tablet (SM-P600) for almost a year now & it has worked perfectly. Over the last week or so, the WiFi has been randomly turning on & off. Not just losing signal, but actually showing as off in the menus. As of this morning, wifi will not turn on at all. Just says "turning on" on the screen & sits. Never gets to the next screen showing all the open networks.
Everything is fully backed up so I went into recovery tonight. Did the full factory reset and wipe procedures. Tablet boots back like it is as supposed to, but wifi wont turn on when getting to that screen in the initial setup.
Tablet has been well cared in a case, not dropped, and not gotten wet. However I am still positive this is a hardware issue.
Any ideas for things I might try? Help!! Thx in advance
I've the same problem with my galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition SM-P605 :crying: Still haven't found solution
I am almost 100% certain this is some type of hardware problem. I tried flashing about 3 different ROM's and 3 different kernels, all of which successfully booted up. I finished by doing a 100% re-wipe (data & system included) & reinstalling a pure stock kernel and firmware. On every single revision, the words "turning on" would appear when clicking the WiFi option, but then it would get stuck. Message would eventually clear & I could continue using everything on the tablet . . . . . . . just no WiFi or Bluetooth functionality.
Final attempt was to gently remove the back cover. When lightly tapping around different points on the MoBo, the names of my local wireless networks would OCCASIONALLY appear. At one point they locked in & I really thought I had it. However, the whole thing disconnected again after a few minutes & I was back to square 1. :crying:
I never could figure out the perfect sweet spot to pinpoint the problem. My guess now is either a chip or ribbon cable that isn't seated properly, but I poked and pushed (gently!) on everything that was visible without removing any hardware other than just the back cover. Does anyone have a link to the layout of the motherboard that shows EXACTLY which piece is the WiFi/BT module? I did find an online disassembly tutorial with a random Google search, but for some reason they failed to identify this particular module.
Sorry for the long post, but I feel I am SO CLOSE to figuring this out once and for all. Just need a little more tech help to push across the goal line. Thanks!!

Update:
After a little more poking and prodding on the MoBo, I'm starting to see activity. Tablet will finally connect again, but will only hold the connection for 10-15 seconds and then drop back out. A few seconds later the cycle repeats.
I really wish I could find a good hi-res photo of the motherboard to help. HAS to be a simple loose connection, or maybe a not-so-good solder point somewhere???

never heard of 'em, is it a cheapo tablet? In my country there's a store of them (Allwinner 6.6" tablet with microSD slot, 2gb internal w/o bluetooth WIFI ONLY INTENDED FOR CASUAL GAMING, or should I call it kids only tablet, RM130 ($35))
That thing has a cheap plasticy housing, unneat design but has a pretty good performance (it plays dead trigger pretty well)

SM-P600 is Samsung's actual model number for the WiFi only version of the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1. Most definitely NOT a cheapo tablet!! Although this wifi issue makes me wonder. I had the functionality back for about a day or so, and then it disappeared again. This has to be a simple case of a loose connector, but I sure can't find it. Ugh. Utterly frustrating.

What firmware version are you using because I am having the same issue. I manually updated to the september update (P600UEUCNI1) for the wifi version and started experiencing the same issue.

*****PARTIAL solution*****
I have proven 100% that mine is problematic hardware . . . . . NOT software or kernel. For the time being my WiFi is back up & seemingly stable. I had to remove the back from the tablet for the fix. You have to be *extremely* careful, but it just snaps off with no screws. Lots of YouTube videos if you choose to attempt, but please don't say I didn't give you fair warning!
The reason I say partial solution is that I haven't pinpointed the exact location of the short. I am 99% sure it is somewhere on the extreme upper left hand corner as you face the front of the tablet. There are a couple of ribbon connectors in that area, and a few snap on type connectors that look like little motherboard chips. After gently poking & prodding the ribbons and disconnecting & reconnecting the snap connectors (being CAREFUL; I cannot stress this enough), my WiFi reappeared.
My final tip is to keep the screen on the page that shows the list of available networks. If you are having the same problem I was, this screen will just show "turning on" and nothing else for the WiFi. While poking around, I would occasionally see the list of networks pop up & then go back off. I finally hit whatever the magic spot is, and the networks held. Snapped the back cover on again, and I've been online for probably 4-5 days now without a single hiccup.
And before I get flamed, I know how dangerous it is to poke around with a powered, exposed tablet. There are probably certain points that could make connection and FRY the entire thing in an instant. I was just willing to take the risk as my tablet was useless without network capability. I had nothing to lose. I would recommend at least trying to poke & prod with the tablet OFF a few times to be safe, but I personally got tired of rebooting over & over & over & over. My luck sucks. With the tablet ON, I was at least able to monitor when something was happening.

I bought my Note in March of this year, I started having the WiFi issue after the April firmware update. At first I would get the Connected to... message at random times, even though I had full signal strength. At the end of September, I started losing connection at random times and in the middle of October, I had to send it in to Best Buy's Geek Squad service to have them repair it. It is a hardware issue, as the no matter what firmware version I use, it will never connect to the router. I know it, Geek Squad is aware of it, as I have sent it in for repair twice so far. I would have to send it in a third time before they will think about replacing it with a new Note. I will admit, that before I updated it in May, I did root it, because I tried to remove the Business Week+ and New York Times apps, as I never used either one of them. I tried disabling them, only to have them reactivate and update themselves.
Damn, what I read here is not good news. My SM-P605's died yesterday.

Hardware issue for sure. Same problem with mine. Opened the back case, disconnected the upper right (as your looking at the screen) small ribbon, reconnected, and boom, perfect wifi once again!
The EZ Package Disabler app is fine for debloating rooted and non-rooted devices with Touchwiz roms. It uses Knox, so that mustn't be removed. The apps are still on the system partition, but are completely dead now. While other apps, especually for non-rooted devices kill the system apps during boit and try to prevent their restart. But during boot the whole stuff is active until the app kicks in, allowing the system apps to receive updates, communicate, spam free flash mem etc.
The app wirks the same way on my rooted P605 and unrooted S5. And gives a reason to buy Samsung stuff, unlike Touchwiz and its bloatware. As far as custom roms go, i found that of my old LG L9 much better. Even if the early roms were AOSP 4.0.4 based, then 4.1.3, they had already had the fresh & bright look & feel of the future Kitkat, and a few useful enhancements like an integrated backup tool, which was more simple, but for me as useful as TB.
As for the main problem here, i think using a case with a hardened backside, and not one if these with a big hole(though being better than nothing), prevents oroblens like battery, display and seemingly wifi connectors loosening. Or bad solder joints. The backplate of the note gives thru any pressure on the back, especially in the middle area. It then rests on the battery, metal shields, connectors and stuff. This seems to generate enough wear over time for problems. The same back plate on a much smaller device(my S5, but that has a subchassis covering the innards, too) would be much stiffer, and my 7" tablet has an aluminium unibody case, such trouble is unknown there.

same problem here... I used to own a SM-600 purchased in 2014 unfortunately I lost it... (the first tablet worked without any proble until I lost it...) than I managed to found the same modell brand new on amazon... it worked for 2 weeks and 2 days ago wifi died... but funny enough not straight away.... first couple time just switched off the wifi... I managed to switch simply back... next day it only worked if restarted the device... now factory reset nothing... If it is hardware related why worked 2 weeks witout any problem? If it is software related why not working after software reset? Only installed a few apps from the store.. the device did not overheated or physically damaged...

Since I bought this a long time ago, I have to pay for the repair. I just want to know if it is worth it. How much did it cost you (if you bothered)?
In my opinion it would be foolish to spend a dime to repair a 4 year old tablet. If the battery is original, it may well be near the end of its useful life as well. FWIW, I bought this tablet used about 8 months ago and have not experienced this wifi problem.
It's still so well equipped, that you can't simply replace with a modern entry level or midline tablet, but with a top of the line one, so a repair is well an option.
I just don't have a clue about the SoCs performance level. To which current ones it would equal and where things get better. I can only compare it to my similarly(Snapdragon 801) equipped phone and my cheap 7" tablet's quad core Mediatek SoC, and that is considerably worse, though being three years newer.
I was looking and looking for a thread with a similar issue before posting but I had no luck.
My issue is that when I turn off my Note 3 I have a really hard time getting it to boot back up. This happens every time every single time I shut it off. I hold the power button for about a minute with the battery removed to supposedly drain any power as I've read around but that doesn't help. I'm pretty tech savvy and internally the phone looks perfectly fine. The weird thing is that I don't actually have any issues once the phone is up and running to make me think it's a hardware issue. It charges fine, I get data, S pen is fine, no other issues what so ever. I haven't been able to pin point what I'm doing to bring it back but eventually it does end up booting like normal. I try to pull the battery multiple times with no success. I eventually get frustrated and just leave it alone with the battery removed. When I return it boots up just fine.
Anybody else having this issue or heard of it?

Thats weird. Have you tried reseating the SD card. Sometimes it might bethe memory card.

Just let it sleep. I can't remember when I ever turned my phone off.

Well my phone's back camera was broken and I was replacing it. Although the issue started occurring well before replacing the camera.
Im having same issue. Replaces camera now phone wont turn on. shows chargering though.

I noticed you also have a thread which states the same thing and I'm not sure if you figured it out yet, but just out of curiosity did you happen to ground yourself while you were working on your Note 3? This goes for any device in general but it's pretty amazing how much damage the static electricity from just your clothes can cause if you're not grounded while working with an exposed main board. If you weren't grounded while working on it though it also doesn't mean that something automatically happened, I'm just saying it's always a possibility at least. One thing I would try if you're having problems powering it up even just in general, is to make sure it's plugged in and charging first and then hold the volume up and power buttons down together at the same time (and keep them held down) until you feel a vibration and then let go. It will take at least 10 - 15 full seconds (and sometimes even longer) to happen, but that should usually get it to power it up whenever it's being stubborn. Another thing I'd definitely check, especially if it was working fine before disassembling the phone, is the alignment of the power button itself (the button you press with your finger) and the actual power button which is located behind it on a data ribbon that connects to the main board. It's actually kind of a flimsy setup so whenever you reinstall the back frame plate you have to make sure the power button data ribbon doesn't shift, or it can cause all kinds of weird problems when trying to power on or off the phone. I just mentioned this in my response to someone else in this thread, but it actually sounds like yours has the same kind of alignment issue with power button that I was talking about. I'm not sure if you've ever disassembled yours for any reason or not, but even if you haven't it's still totally possible that it could've happened from the factory and especially if you got a refurbished phone for whatever reason. It's a pretty poor design choice in my opinion because it's such a "fragile" setup, and even the slightest misalignment of the power button itself and the button on the data ribbon can cause the exact same problems your having. Anyway if if you haven't messed with it and it's still under warranty I'd say just get a new one, but if you have taken it apart I'd say first thing to check would be the alignment of those buttons (once you take the back off). I've even had to make a tiny little "shim" and wedge it behind the power button on the data ribbon in order to get it to line up right with the button itself a couple of times, so I'd say it's a fairly common problem with these phones. I dropped by tablet battery down once and now every so often the screen flickers with vertical lines and this is followed by loss of network and the thing reboots.
I've read this to be a battery problem.
Warranty is still active but I've rooted it and my Knox counter has gone up.
What do you think XDA? Just get a replacement battery?

If you have the ability, since it was dropped, I would open it and make sure connection is tight to battery and screen. Then if it still acts up, get a battery. Several people had battery issues out of the box. All it turned out to be for a few was a loose connection.
i was thinking about that but i'm afraid of voiding warranty. do i even still have warranty? due to the knox?

Well ive opened it up and tightened everything i can see and it seems to work ok for a while, when the charge gets to around 20-30%, the tablet flickers, all mobile connections are lost and 75% of the time, reboots.
So i went ahead and got a new battery. Now this was worse kinda. At random moments, like unlocking the screen, or replying to a message, or maybe just a high cpu load event, the tablet just turns off and is unable to be powered back on without first connecting it to a power supply like a wall charger or a power bank.
The time and date will be reset once its back on and ill have to wait a few minutes before the auto network time setting kicks in before i can use something like whatsapp.
Anyone got any clue what might be causing this problem? Thanks in advance, helpful xdarians.

I'm not by any means an expert or repairman of any kind, just so you know. I'm thinking maybe a loose connection at the terminals on the board the battery connects to or if they use a separate board for the battery to connect to and then to the main board it may be somewhere along in there. Maybe a loose wire going into the tab that connects to the prongs. It sure sounds like something isn't making a good connection. Sounds like a load gets put on it and it and that bad connection can't handle the load.
Might just be you're going to have to send it off...
You may be right. Sounds like a particular connection which does higher load or something. Once i put the tablet in power save mode, the symptoms never reappeared. I dont notice a drastic slowdown in the tablet either. Probably am prolonging the inevitable.

I am facing exactly same issue what you have described and am in same situation, have tripped Knox on my Tab S 8.4.
I can see that you have been able to suppress the behavior by putting it to Power Saving mode. Have you experienced flicker and reboot since then? I am planning to take it to Samsung store not sure if they will honor warranty, did you tried that?

nope, ever since the Power Saving mode solution, it hasnt flickered and rebooted yet. and my warranty was expired by that point so i didnt bring it to the shop. no noticable reduction in performance so far

I have seen this problems on 2 tablets 10.5 and 8.4 the connector where battery is connected on motherboard gets loose which causes reboots and flicker
Solution in my case was resoldering that connector again
i had the same problem, opened up my tablet, just disconnected the battery, cleaned the contacts, pushed it back, made sure its nice and snug, put it all back together and now battery doesn't drain as fast, no more flickers and reboots!
hmm. i'll have to give it a try. you think this may be something to do with condensation?
Sorry for the bump, but I'm having this issue as well on my S 8.4. Custom ROM. The thing with me is that it's not consistent. One day, it will do it a few times; others, no issues whatsoever. I'll try the suggested if it gets progressively worse.

Unfortunately our home's tablet (Tab s 8.4 Wifi) has the same problem.
It never did weird whatshowever, but when I flashed a custom rom (which went perfectly smooth actually) the screen flashes and the tablet reboots sometimes.
Now it weird that this never happened before and only when I flashed a custom rom it began showing this behaviour.
I am affraid of opening this tablet, and I guess because of the custom rom there is no warranty left anymore (or can this be bypassed by some terminal trick?)
Also I question myself if this is not a software issue, and that it can be fixed with software or so?

I might have some surprising news to tell about this "issue".
I saw some unboxing video's and saw at what place the battery connector was placed. It was some sort of a 'push to click' system.
So what I did was the following:
I pushed the tablet at the place of the battery connector. I tried this at various places until I heard a *click*.
Now I don't have this issue anymore. Jay!

I started to have the same issue on a Tab Pro 12.2, presumably after the battery has lost considerable amount of its energy. Normally I remember this tablet to have a dazzling 10+ hours of usage time. Just after some serious usage time of more than 2 years this issue started, along with increasing temperature and finally reboot. From time to time Android gave a warning message about overheating. From time to time charge values drop big values at a time. From 45 to 20 or 80 to 50. Seems arbitrary. This was happening even when I was on stock, then I switched to some Android 6 stock port from some other tablet. Still the same.
I believe the battery needs replacement. (That's obvious after 18 months, I just mean blinking is related to this) Hope I can find a high quality one cause there are several garbage batteries.
Okay, first off, I don't know if this malware related or not. More on that later. I DO know that I've had my nexus for a few years now, and it's been great til a week or two ago.
The latest, and most urgent, problem is that it randomly stopped charging. I was plugged in, playing a graphic-intese game, and got a pop-up warning me that I was at 15% life. The charger is in an extension cord. Sometimes it gets partiality unplugged. So I jostled that. Made sure everything was plugged in, and kept playing. At 7% I got another message. I double checked everything, and noticed that the circle moving around the power % would sometimes make a cycle or two before giving up. (It's not even doing that anymore though.)
I've checked the socket, power cord, charger, and cable. All work with other devices. I used another charger, in another socket, with the Nexus. No response. I've also tried rebooting in safe mode, and following this guide . Those didn't work either. Now, I'm at 6% and scared to turn it on, without having a specific plan.
This is a long post, so I'm going to give a TL;DR here. Other **** has recently happened. It might be related. It might not be. Point is, if I have any hope of fixing those issues, I need to first fix this.
Now, why this might be malware-related. A week, or so ago, started having issues. "Shockingly enough", they began right after following some shady links on file locker sites. I was trying to find an iso for an old pc game, and figured that it'd be safer on my android. I still don't know if that was the source, or coincidence, but if this was happening on a PC, that would be prime suspect #1.
Anywho, I think it was the next day, my screen stopped responding to the magnet in my case. This had happened long ago, when I first flashed CM. I didn't want to have to spend a day or two backing everything up, and reflash, so I installed Magnet Unlocker. This has been a sufficient temporary fix, and I figured I could live with it.
Either later that day, or the next (I work a swing shift. Days melt together.) I used the LastPass browser to go to XDA, and got a bunch of random redirects. I started googling for clues, and ran every malware scan under the sun. They all came back clean. I did find a few forums that spoke of a virus around January that effected Chrome. It acted in the same way, and would redirect you if you tried to visit a number of android websites. I rarely use the LastPass browser, so I don't know when this might have began. I believe it is Chrome-based though. I tried to follow the guides posted to fix the issue, but LastPass didn't have the tainted file that was mentioned.
Several days passed, and I searched for solutions, but nothing debilitating happened. Then, last night, the screen started flickering. Or rather, the menu bar the bottom of the screen did. This also caused the game I was playing (Marvel's Future Fight) to lag, and crash. It was late, so I just said **** it, and went to sleep. I haven't seen the flicker since, but I also haven't used my tablet a great deal in between incidents.
I'm rooted, am using a flo Nexus 7, and on CM12. If anyone can point me in best direction, I'm at a loss as to what to do here.
If this were my problem, I'd start by connecting to your PC and seeing if I can get to it with ADB (since you've already flashed stuff, I'll assume you know your drivers are OK). If I can, then the path of least resistance is probably to just reflash. If I can't, that suggests that the USB port is bad.
