Web TV Streaming Channels - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any stream-able channels like roku w/ actual broadcasts... Not talking hulu or netflix

Wondering the same thing, so far this fire tv is definitely not living up to the hype.

I have a dish network receiver with sling built in, so I just use the dish app to watch mine. Works for live or recorded tv and its no extra cost.

if it's ok that it's not live, try out hulu:

Looking for a good Media app for network streaming

I have a linksys e4200 with a HDD connected by USB on it, i have a network set up so that apple tvs and other media devices can stream from it, but i have not yet found a good app that can do it on my GS3. I don't care if it's a paid app, i just want a solid nice looking streaming app.

Go for Wondershare. It's free, and works great for NAS as well as http/mms streams from online.

I found BSPlayer free...wow finally a good app, just entered my routers default ip and voila, streaming 1080p mkv videos with 0 lag
Plex is your answer. whatever you are using now, scrap it. plex has clients for pc, mac, linux, android/google tv, ios, roku, ect. it handles media shares through other plex servers and DLNA. trust us, you will thank us.

Scrap everything..... use TVMobili... its perfect NON-Java based. Plays Mkv without transcoding straight from my NAS to my Samsung TV, I use BubbleUpnp as the app on my phone to control it all...

So cool to see that 3 years ago the app I am using also worked for someone. I adore ArkMC cause it has all features I need. It is compatible with PS3, PS4, Xbox360, Xbox One, HD TVs, what is really important for me as I like to stream my music to my PS4 when having a party. Secondly, it supports Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound what not many streaming apps have. And finally, all media formats are ready to use without conversion.

Allcast app

How exactly do I use this? I have a smart tv linked to my local wireless lan. Would it be possible to share media between the two? If so, how? All I get is .. Searching for players.

NO! this does not work with chromecast. it will work with DLNA-enabled TVs.
according to android authority:
"Starting in AllCast Beta 7, users can now cast their Google Drive and locally stored content over to any DLNA-capable device including many popular game systems (Xbox One, PS3, etc), Apple TV and most smart TVs. Due to the currently locked nature of Chromecast, the app does not support Google’s streaming device, however."

Unfortunately loads of people are reporting that Allcast beta 7 doesn't work with the PS3, but I found a work around if you have a Samsung galaxy phone:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqu7BPqjo4s&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Only works well with 720p mp4 and avi content.
What's with all those updates recently?
I received 3 alone yesterday, one today also dated back for yesterday.
Changing version numbers, but no changelog or other version history in the PlayStore.
PS
merry xmas!
Is there a way - even using root - to increase subtitle font?

Movie Tube

Hey can someone tell if I can stream movies from my device using movie Tube to my TV ? What if I buy a chromecast?
Yes, with cromecast your phone will mirror onto the big screen so anything you do on your phone will show on your tv.
