Galaxy Note 10.1 SM-P605 | 4G LTE Fix - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 edition was released back in October 2013.
For those of you who have got down this awesome little device - CONGRATS! I got an International (factory unlocked) version from Singapore.
Once I brought it down to Sri Lanka and put in a 4G supported sim, things started getting weird. My 4G didn't work The status bar only read H+ (which means WCDMA and not LTE)
My LTE carrier (Sri Dialog) said that although the sim was 4G ready, the device may have locked on to another 4G band since it was from another country.
I used a little Debug application and found out that the Note 10.1 was locked on to HSDPA 1200 Band 1, whereas the carrier supported 4G on LTE 1200 Band 3
I tried going into Samsung's little backdoor called Service Mode, however Service Mode appeared not to work in here
(Check the comments to learn how to easily access Service Mode on all Galaxy devices)
Turns out that a couple of Note 10.1 2014 edition devices had this issue, where Service Mode can't be accessed. Service Mode is the easiest way to resolve a network problem.
Well want to know the solution? Follow these steps :fingers-crossed:
1. Root you're device using Odin. First uninstall Samsung KNOX. If you don't know how to do that, just make sure that SuperSU is installed as you're root app. Follow this root tutorial: dottech.org/148205/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-2014-edition-guide
2. Next download Advanced Signal Status from the Play Store. Just follow this link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cc.signalinfo
3. Open Advanced Signal Status and go to Advanced Settings > Device Settings > Network Selection and select 'LTE/GSM'. Here GSM means HSDPA/WCDMA. You will be asked to grant root access to the app during this process. If the app crashes during the first launch, just lauch it again. After all, it was built for phones
Congrats! You're device should now work on 4G
Please hit Thanks if you found this post useful.

Service Mode
Kind of digression, but how do you go into the Service Mode in Galaxy Note 10.1 2014?

There are various codes that you have to type in to you're dialer in order to access Service Mode, however you can use the Service Mode Shortcut app on the Play Store which makes this much more easier. Apparently Samsung has disabled Service Mode for some Note 10.1 (2014 edition) devices.

I have the same tablet - bought from Amazon and using Straight Talk as my carrier. I'm not willing to root in fear of bricking my device. Is there or will there ever be another route for me to get LTE?
I can't connect to AT&T, but I get hspa and hspa+ through AT&T microcell... which I never signed up to get.

Great app! Tried this on my P605 (Australia). Auto selected in the options was LTE/GSM auto. Changed to LTE/GSM/CDMA and made no difference...turned on LTE only and did the OOKLA speed test just outside my house and it performed 4 times better! It should be said 4G in my area isn't strong at the moment.

[Q] Is there any way to force HSPA/turn off LTE?

I get horrible LTE reception at work, and I know that my battery is paying a heavy price. HSPA on the other hand is great (4-5 bars usually).
On my Galaxy S4 I'd open *#*#4636#*#* and open up the device info and change the Network Type. But, the Nexus 7 doesn't have a dialer. Is there any other way to force HSPA on the nexus 7?
You can install ICS Dialer for example, enter your service code and get into the service menu. I tried, it works.
Yup, that worked perfectly. Thank you!

You can actually do this without having to install anything, though the app might make switching to and from a bit easier:
1. Go to Settings
2. Connections (tab)
3. More Networks
4. Mobile Networks
5. Network Mode
6. Change the network mode between LTE/WCDMA/GSM (for LTE) and WCDMA/GSM (for non-LTE)

[Q] [SGH-M919v] Galaxy S4 no LTE

Hello,
I have an open-line Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919v) and the problem is that I can't use the LTE feature of this device even though there is a sticker of LTE on the phone. The network mode option doesn't show LTE option as it only says WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA Only and GSM Only. I also tried to change the settings in *#2263# but selecting LTE changes the Signal bars to " Ø " I upgraded from Kitkat (4.4.2) to Lollipop(OTA) and still the LTE option on Network mode is missing.
I am using an LTE sim and also am very sure that I am in an LTE spot. The phone was from Canada but I don't know which network specifically it was subscribed to as it was only given to me.
Hoping to fix this problem as soon as possible, Thank you.
You should ask here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile
But probably there isn't anything you can do. You phone doesn't really support LTE. It support some bands, but your provider is probably using a different band for LTE. So your phone will never get LTE with that provider.
Choose "automatic" after dialing *#2263*
Worked for me.
Sent from M919V Galaxy S4 via XDA Premium HD app.
I had a vzw s4 and was able to get lte in a hybrid att area. I had to use lte specific locked band in the options and would change to gsm or automatic when i left the hybrid area to be able to place calls etc. In the hybrid area everything worked fine.

Cant FIND LTE IN THE NETWORK MODE ON THE SHV-E250K MODEL OF NOTE 2.

I am recently in southern asia.bought a note 2 about 2 year ago and have successfully rooted.I heared it has LTE but cant find the LTE option in the network mode menu. Researched in wikipedia they also listed it is lte supported.now what do i do to get lte? 3g just works fine on it. and i also cant perform many ussd code requests on it. what do i do? please help.

LG G4 reception issue

I am having an issue with a phone I recently bought on eBay to replace my wife’s phone – a Samsung S3. After researching, I selected one that appeared to be compatible to our carriers’ network – AT&T. It’s a new factory unlocked LG G4 model US991 running Android 6.0 that arrived in a sealed LG box. I moved the sim card from the old phone to the new one, but I initially couldn’t get it to connect to our network. A call to AT&T customer service didn’t provide much help although they had me check the usual things when transferring a sim to a new phone. They advised to go to my AT&T store for help in getting it to connect. They were also unsuccessful after checking and verifying several things (not really sure what). They concluded that the phone must not really be unlocked as it was advertised.
Frustrated with that, I decided to try contacting the eBay seller about the issue and was happy to get a fairly quick reply, telling me to change the following network settings:
Select Mobile networks
Network mode – GSM/UMTS
GSM/UMTS settings
Network submode – Legacy 3GPP multi
Network operators – after choosing Search – found AT&T, RAT:WCDMA
And it worked - voice and texting both functioning well – and most importantly my wife was now happy. But it didn’t take long to realize the reception wasn’t nearly as good as my old Samsung S2 on the same network. We were in a rural location recently and where my phone was showing a decent signal, the G4 barely showed any and sometimes none. I also noticed that no matter where we were located, there was never an indication of a 4G connection in the home screen icons. So I then tried changing the network connections to the following that resulted in the 4G icon displaying but unfortunately voice and text stopped working completely (got an error message – no SIM card or SIM card error):
Network mode – LTE/CDMA
I also set the APN to NXTGENPHONE and its' settings according to the AT&T website
I’m hoping there’s something I can change to improve the connectivity/reception on this phone since my wife really likes everything else about it. I would appreciate any help/advice you could give.
Thanks

in a rural the G4 H815 barely showed any and sometimes none Signal.
And the moto E showing a decent signal 4G and 3G.

Confirm with AT&T that they tried one of their latest AT&T LTE capable sim cards to see if the issue is in the sim card you've been using. If not get them to try it.

What is your signal strength on both Samsung and lg?
Download an app called advanced signal status on both phones
What is the db? And signal stength?
One should be a minus one should be a plus
They will also fluctuate so give me the number it usually sits at

Thanks, I'll try it and post back.
The results I got from the Advanced Signal Status app:
Samsung S2 - all entries showed n/a
LG G4 - Under GSM(2G/3G), RSSI was usually at -111 (5%), Signal strength was 1 db (3%)

The APN update did not appear to have any effect.
I'll go back to the AT&T store to verify the sim card as soon as I can.

OK - Thanks.
If your IEMI is not registered on their network (likely, as you didn't buy the phone from them), see if they will register it. May require that you buy a new LTE capable SIM card from them.

That is a very weak signal.
Here's the catch
Both phones should have displayed the signal strength
So you are using 2 different network bands on the phone
It's either your sim, or select another band on your LG G4
2G/3G that your phone is currently running on is an older network, and since your Samsung is not registered on that network you have selected wrong band on your LG G4 or your sim card is not compatible to operate on the network you want to be on

I have several ideas for the reason of your problem. First of all, is everything ok with your SIM-card? Wasn't it damaged when you installed it in the new phone? Also your type of card can be not suitable for this certain phone model, unfortunately that happens sometimes
I'm really surprised that the customer service wasn't really helpful in your case, as I know they should check such cases personally in special centers and fix the tech problems. I recommend you to call them again and ask about this
And nice 4G connection demands a constant good signal. It's a rather common problem for the phones but not because of the bad networks but your current location, there are many places where this signal is very weak I had such problem in my house, I ended with buying a signal booster https://www.myamplifiers.com/4g-lte-booster/ which in my case was really helpful. However I suppose that your main problem isn't the signal but your phone, I think that you really need to check it in a special service center because all these problems mean nothing good for your device, especially the new one
I am merely speculating but depending on how old your last sim card is, it could just be as simple as getting (here in Canada they're like $5-$10) a new up to date one. It could also be an issue with the phone antenna itself?
Network mostly recovered
Just install advanced task manager from play store and set it to kill task every 15 min or so. Network issue will be gone. This is what worked for me. Thanks.

Hey... I had this similar problem. I bought an Iphone 9 and and I had many problems with my signal. In many times, my cell phone showed "1 bar" of 4G, so I couldn't do almost anything. Fortunately, a friend told my about an signal booster and now my signal problems are done. I bought it in a website named amplificadordesenal.es and it's been really GREAT!! it cost a little but it was the better solution.
Hope this can help you

S9 sprint to vzw guide.

I have an already unlocked sprint s9. What I'm trying to accomplish is to write vzw firmware on it so LTE while on call works. Also for it to power up looking like it was never a sprint phone. I have done this before on my note 8 sprint that was unlocked. Can someone help me in doing this. Thanks
Just download a firmware with the same Security Bit as your phone.
People usually use the U1 Firmwares Example: g960u1
HD Calling is a very important feature. This feature enables you to talk and surf. It also dramatically increase your data speed. Before HD Calling was enabled, I was getting 25 to 30 Mbps download with Sprint. Now I'm getting 160 Mbps download even when on a voice call while it's raining.
To enable HD Calling, download Shortcut Master (Secret Codes) Lite from developer vndnguyen.
1) From the option menu located in the upper right hand corner, choose Search.
2) There is a search field at the bottom of the screen. Type lte then hit the Search key.
3) Scroll down to Mobile Networks. Choose the one that show EnhancedLteServices. Then click Launch. Then click the box to enable HD Calling.
Why does Samsung and the carriers deny this feature on unlock phones? Is this evil doing because between Google, Samsung, and the wireless carriers may have some kind of agreement?*

Blizzt5
