NextRadio through phone speakers - Sprint LG G2

Anyone know of a workaround for NextRadio's requirement that headphones be plugged in before I'm allowed to play through my phone's speakers?

I think the head phones are used as an antenna. If it works like fm radio on an a htc phone.

This is correct. It's a limitation of physics: you need an antenna of a certain length to receive the radio signals.

[Q] FM Radio Software

From what Ive read the G2 has FM Radio capability. Any way to get the FM radio APK off of the Vision rom for use on G2??
Thanks
Stingerrray
I'm fairly sure it does not have an FM tuner.
You could always use an app like Radio Time that can live stream any FM station on the globe practically.

So if it is even possible, it will need a proprietary headset adapter thing as an antenna for the FM radio. I'm not even sure THAT info is correct. However, HTC's site makes no mention of a radio.

heck even apples ipod nano can listen to fm with ANY pair of headphones. its required since nano doesn't have a built in antenna. Fm radio isn't listed under the G2's chip specs though same went for the N1's. though somehow the N1 got radio. maybe the same thing will happen to the G2. once we get root.

That site also says the G2 has a 2Gb ROM, which has already been disproved.

They pulled up the page for the Desire Z, here is the compare page for the Desire Z & G2. Granted that it still states that the G2 has a FM radio, the ROM capacity is at least correct.

The FM radio has to be built into the software on the phone. It is true that the headphones can work as an antennae, but they are still dependent on the software being there on the phone. As of now, no one has been able to successfully get a working FM radio on the Vibrant.
Sorry for my bad english i mean to say i want headphone in which fm radio is inbuilt not in samsung vibrant phone ...
you can use the sony mw600's, which are bluetooth. i've tried it once with the vibrant but purchased bluetooth headphones.
anyone know if i can use the mw600's, my sony bluetooth headphones, AND vibrant? kind of would defeat the purpose to have so many things in hand but I wouldnt mind missing to fm radio stations and when I first saw that the vibrant was gonna have an fm radio, like the hd2, etc...i was sold. not a dealbreaker that it didnt come with it though.

FM Transmitter Yet?

Ive seen many threads with questions like these but none of them have answered the question:
Is it possible and will it be done in the future?
Thanks
Ummm, no. The phone does not have a transmitter in it. Just an fm receiver, which doesnt transmit.
it is technically able to transmit but it would need to have that software written for it, the likes of which its taking to get 4g on cm
It needs power going to the antenna in order to transmit, as far as I know it was not designed to do that.

Umm, no. Again, there is no TRANSMITTER in the phone. If there was one, I'm sure sprint would have used it, and touted it as a feature.
the FM chip manufacturer spec sheet lists it as capable of transmitter but htc did not include the firmware for it to work, they also did not include an antenna for it to work (requiring a cable plugged in to receive signal as well) this was discussed months ago in detail, if you search deep in q/a or dev you can find it
found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693253 it has links to some others
Well, this is turning out just like the other threads, some say yes, some say no.
Is there a developer that thinks that an FM Transmitter is possible?

[Q] galaxy nexus has fm radio device? or not?

i cannot find it in system features
No, there is no FM radio
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Actually there is a chip (at least in the Verizon version) that has an FM radio in it, but there is no antenna and no low level software to run it.
The Galaxy Nexus has a Broadcom BCM4330 which features an FM receiver and transmitter.
It seems there's no antenna wired nor driver access, though.
Tune-In Radio (free app on the market) had the local stations I used the FM antenna on my old phone to listen to, so I haven't missed it on GNex yet, perhaps that is an option for you.
The Nexus One had a Broadcomm BCM4329 and someone figured out how to get FM. If i remember correctly, it needed headphones plugged in because it used the wire as an antenna. It was in Cyanogen roms, and probably others as well. So, hang on, surely the chips aren't that different and surely someone will get it working sooner or later.

I still miss true FM. I use Tune-In daily, but the cons are: 1) data usage 2) any broadcast of protected content, i.e., sporting events, are typically not streamed.

Playing FM without Headset..any mod?

Dear Friends,
I searched a lot for mod playing FM Radio without Headset.
Please if you know the solution reply.
Thanks for making such a nice forum..
lol.. if they make a mod to include antenna in ur phone itself you'll be able to use it.. till then plug in your headphones as they work as an antenna
simple answer is that u can only dream of playing it without headphones

Cut the Jack connector from broken headphones, just 4 cm cable and you have mini antenna.
Sorry for my English
Do this

SORRY for the low image quality
ok I LOL'd @ the above.
Anyways, buy wired speakers for your phone. They'll double as the antenna and an audio output (something you'll be missing with the above) and you won't need to wear headphones.
Personally, I use the Altec T515s (had them forever) and they work great. Their best function is bluetooth functionality, but they support "Line-In" and come with a cable to plug your phone directly into the speakers (giving you the needed headset functionality to make the FM radio work).

Wow, grats on obtaining the power of resurrection, cause you sure resurrected this dead thread.
And while TuneIn Radio (the correct name of the app you're trying to mention) does work (so long as you don't mind the 30-45 second delay behind the actual station) the OP did ask about using the pre-installed FM Radio app (which has no delay or extra ads) w/o needing headphones.
Which was dumb in itself. Who uses a radio without an antenna?
Anyways, necro posting is sexy!

Yea but don't you remember those antennas in old phones? Later on they were being placed inside of the phone, nowadays I guess it's so little space in there, they just decided to use headphones as a source.
Yes my first motorola was with antenna for calls.

Spirit FM is the way to go
Guys FM radio without handset mod exists for Moto Defy. It is available on this forum. I have used it and the phone does not have any external antenna. And that also had an option to switch between headset and speaker. Unfortunately we do not have it for HTC One.
